Ni200 vertical coil in a subtank mini verdict after 2 days and 4 tanks gone and a wick change compared to the same ohm horizontal coil............ HOMERUN! Very little to no spit back like a horizontal coil. Flavor imo 50% better and the vapor production is out of this world. Gonna stick with the vertical coil for a while.

That's the great thing about vaping, so many choices you can find something that suits your particular preferences. No one way is going to be perfect for everyone, find what works for you and enjoy.

Some good points concerning those new to vaping. But I don't think there's anything wrong with becoming a hobby for those who are so inclined, no reason it can't be both smoking cessation and hobby. I started with a simple EVOD 2 starter kit, but within a couple of months needed something more powerful and went to the MVP 2 with an Aerotank. That increased power and airflow really bumped up the flavor. Then I went to the Subtanks and iSticks and find that the sub ohm coils do provide more flavor (especially with that organic cotton) and flexibility.
Sub ohming may not be for everyone, and there are still plenty of options available in the under 15 watt mod and 1.5 - 2.0 ohm coils. If your vape shop isn't stocking what you need you can found loads of stuff online.

It depends on the individual flavoring that you're using. I have some flavors that require as much as 20% and some more concentrated ones that 2% does the trick. Your supplier (or Google) should be able to tell you what the recommended range is for each of their flavorings. I typically go a little beyond their suggestions because I'm all about intense flavoring, but go too far and your juice will start tasting "chemical".

I found a recommended percentage chart for TFA flavorings here. It seems to be pretty comprehensive.

I use 60VG 40PG and 15 - 20 % flavor. I use flavor west flavorings and they require a higher % than some other flavorings, so I'm told. Don't know why I'm answering this I smoked for about 50 years so my taste buds are shot.

If you're getting a burnt taste and your cotton isn't the culprit, then it has to be that your juice doesn't like the temperature that you've set for a limit. Try backing it down to 400°F and bring it up from there until it's warm enough for your taste but doesn't taste burnt.
BTW - Although it won't hurt anything, It's not necessary to set your wattage so high (60W) because as soon as your mod hits its temp limit, you should notice that it will start throttling your power back to maintain the temp limit.
Also, the reason that TC still works with twisted Kanthal A1 and nickel wire is because current travels the path of least resistance, which in this case is the nickel wire.

I can't count how many questions I've answered either here on the board or in the support system that have been answered a thousand times over. But, noobs are just lookin' for a little love. If we merged them all I think there'd be 5 topics total

    I'm still alive!!!

okay, I'm fairly convinced that I'm at the extreme limit of this tank. It actually worked....for a little while (you KNEW I was gonna fire it, didn't you, lol).
The ohms jumped around - quite a bit actually - when it dropped to .07 it wouldn't fire. At one point it settled in at .11 nicely and lasted for several glorious hits at around 30 watts.  The tank heated up like crazy probably from the close proximity of the coils to the housing.  Each time I got up there it would change and then quit.  If I let it cool down it would fire again but not for long.  One more little wrap (I debated trying a 16/15 ) would have done it but it is so cramped as to be not practical.  I don't know, I may give it another shot.
I suspect that that the heating/cooling cycle is changing the position of the coil ever so slightly.  It's just too much fuss at this point.  MAYBE 30g would do it.  I don't know.  It was a fun experiment but I'm defeated now. I'll have to try again another time. We'll see what Gunny thinks when he gets here.

i will pull it apart and take some shots of it for posterity in a few minutes here......

    Health was the first thing.
Smell was next.  As a salesman, I hated that I smelled like an ashtray.  Cologne was useless, unless you used an obscene amount.
Third is the hobby.  I love the hobby.  I totally understand people like bcarter (and most others) that are very happy just not smoking, and totally respect it.  I am just one of those types who always looks for new gadget,  or something new and shiny.  I am not a cloud chaser, but I do enjoy my SauceCode with a .1 ohm Ni200 coil.  It does force me to be a little more mindful of the clouds.  I pretty much stick to one juice, but I am likely to change APV or tanks once a week.

Just wanted to drop a few lines about my thoughts on temperature control and nickel wire as of late.
I've been using a Heatvape Invader Mini 50W with an eGo ONE 1.8ml tank (rebuilt .15Ω Ni200 coil/JOC wick) as my ADV for about 6 weeks now, and it's been a great setup for me. This is the best vape I've had to date because now, every time I hit the fire button, I get a consistent, satisfying vape. I've not had a single dry hit (even when accidentally running my tank bone-dry a few times), and I've also not noticed any "coloring" of my juices' flavor from the nickel coils (tastes like chicken...er, Kanthal). In addition, the sheer number of coil-wraps required to meet my mod's minimum TC load using such a low-resistance wire makes for a coil with a lot of surface area from which to provide vapor.
Nickel coil resistances can be a little dodgy from build to build, but that's easily compensated for by increases/decreases in the power and temperature settings of the TC mod. I can pretty much adjust the mod's settings to make each new build perform like the last build, so nickel's (apparent) inconsistency is not really that much of an issue.
For rebuilding my eGo ONE's coil head, I make 12 wraps of 28g Ni200 around a 3mm Kuro coiler, and then tug a little on the leads to get a slight space between the wraps. That usually puts me in the vicinity of .15Ω, which is comfortably above the .1Ω minimum TC resistance of my mod.
Vaping with temperature control technology has been pleasurable for me at least, and as more and more reasonably-priced and reliable devices pop up on the scene, I feel like it might just change the way vapers enjoy vapor...
...but that's just my opinion...what's yours?
