spydre reacted to Tam in Have E-Cigs helped you quit smoking?
Picked up an e-cigarette May 10, 2012. Smoked and vaped until day 5 when I went totally with vaping. Best change I've ever made.

Smoked my last cigarette April 9th, 2013
I was a full flavored pack-a-day smoker. No desire and never looked back. Same for my wife.

If a kid wants something bad enough they'll find a way to get it. Passing this asinine bill will not make it "impossible" for kids to get their hands on whatever. Idjit.

spydre reacted to Tam in Innokin itaste 134 mod?
You can use the Boge cartomizers to direct drip but you have to take out the filler material first. Then, with the filler material out, it becomes an atomizer. I just have trouble getting the filler material out without screwing up the inside of the thing so the whole thing becomes unusable. It's just easier to buy an atomizer that's made for dripping.

You can definitely get leaks through the coil. Look, the coil itself is suspended in space directly in the airway and directly over the battery. The wicks pull in juice to the coil. If that juice wicks too heavily or the holes where the wicks enter the coil head are too sloppy, juice gets past the coil and there's only one place for it to go - drips right on to the top of the battery. This essentially shorts the battery and you get weak vapor production and a hot coil(increases resistance).
The coil head itself has a tiny o-ring where it seats. As long as that is snug it shouldn't leak. The coil head should be firmly seated in the base but the base should never be over tightened to the battery. It deforms the pin at the end of the coil head where it contacts the battery.

You mentioned cartomizers, not carto/tanks. You did know that you can use a cartomizer by itself without punching any holes in it? You can buy them specifically for this purpose. The ones you use in the tank are slightly different with a lip on the connection end to keep it flush to the bottom of the tank. It's used like an atomizer except it has filler inside so you can put lots of juice in to soak the filler material and vape. You don't need a tank with these but they're a pain because it's too easy to get a burnt hit due to the filler not letting the juice down to the coil fast enough if you chain vape. At least that's my experience, and I don't care for these (although many love them), I get a weird taste that I think is coming from the filler material and it's inconvenient for me.

spydre got a reaction from hookahhighness in Vaping has become a trend?
For me, it was to quit smoking, and it IS cheaper, excepting the equipment. I have NEVER gone more than three days without a cigarette. No matter what method I tried. Now, it has become sort of a hobby as well.
The minors who admit to trying e cigs probably do so because their parents no longer have analogs around, they have vaping equipment around, as the analog use among minors has gone down.
Only problem is, where a parent wouldn't notice a cigarette missing here or there, they sure as hell would notice a stick battery or device missing.

Don't let it go that easy iMedic. You should be like every other mainstream vendor and reap the profits of that clone. You could call it Flatline's Rest In Pieces Banana Valentine. February is right around the corner.

spydre reacted to CascadianExotics in Side Fire Mechanical Mods
Lol. Yeah, I've noticed when people hear the words "mod problem," user-error rarely ever factors in to the equation...but, I guess that eagerness just comes from being both a mod geek and a person driven to see others to succeed at the vape game. Which is the ultimate goal here, right? On topic: Out of all my mods, the vast majority are all side-firing pinky buttons. Despite being inherently flawed in design, I love the Steampunk aesthetic of that mod style. Great for using Gennys, too. Just memorize the button location in relation to the air hole, and you won't ever have to guess where it is when you get one of those 'wake-you-out-of-a-dead-sleep' midnight vape craves.

I was anxious to get back home from work today so I could drip some more of the new juice I got yesterday.
I'm driving a manual trans, not sure dripping is an option while driving for me.

spydre reacted to Bebop in Guys, I'm torn.
Well, you should be getting gurgling too.
You have to get that airway dry as possible before you load that tank on the battery. First, dry the battery completely. Then, blow thru the mouth piece hard a couple of times then dabbing the end of the tank with tissue . Verify it's not gurgling or repeat as necessary. Then quickly mount the tank and draw heavily while you fire it with plenty of air flow. It should star making serious vapor.
If it starts giggling again right away check your seals at the mouthpiece. Make sure the silicone gasket seals at the mouthpiece and the coil is firmly screwed in to the base.
If that doesn't take care of it, it could just be a bad coil. They do happen every now and again in which case you chuck it or rebuild it. You could try adding another flavor wick.
Hope that helps.

It should be, at least, the malic acid - ethyl maltos is used as a sweetener in vaping - it might have actually been cheaper to get a little bit of that and add a few drops?
