I suppose it really doesn't make sense since I know how to fill my own cartomizers with e-liquid so I'm just paying someone else to do it for me. Thought it might be nice when you are in a hurry to grab a few and go. Adding e-liquid on top of a pre-filled cartomizer probably doesn't work well either.

I don't agree. I think that if we don't "cause a stir" then things will never be changed. I say let's start changing peoples perceptions instead of hiding.

Okay, I searched and didn't see this topic so I thought I'd post. It's a little embarrassing actually. Ever since starting the ecig I've developed extreme gas. Not only that but it smells awful. Is this directly related to general vaping or from the e-liquid that I am vaping? I am vaping 70 VG Butter rum flavor most of the time. I also use a clearomizer. Not sure what it's from but it's got to stop! LOL. I will have a very hard time dating and one of the reasons I quit smoking was to open up my options a little more! HELP.

    Christopher,

Thank you for all the hard work and long hours you spend making Vapor Talk a wonderful place for us all!

This morning when I checked VT I noticed the snowflakes falling and thought them lovely. Just now I noticed how the snowflakes change direction depending on where your pointer is on the screen. That's absolutely brilliant! And more than a little amusing for me today.

Just wanted to give a "thank you" shout for all the little things we may not notice but makes our experience here better and definitely more fun!

I don't know about all of you but I'd say a hefty amount of my vaping is at night before bed. Usually while finishing up work or browsing the web before settling down for the night.

Keep in mind though that nicotine by itself is only about as addictive as caffeine. However a cigarette has over 200 addictive compounds in it so initially we vape more to get the same effect. Just my. 02... :-)

I simply like the fact that I can go into the bathroom stall or the quiet room at work and vape and no one knows. I would hope no one is looking at me in the bathroom stall!

Suzicube reacted to Ricketts in New Here! Have A Few Questions About Ecigs
Like twins, we tend to consider tobacco and nicotine as one-and-the-same. Let's separte them. Understanding Nicotine: Nicotine is a natural product of tobacco. When a cigarette is smoked, it releases many chemical messengers- neurotransmitters- such as acetylcholine, norepinephrine, vasopressin, histamine, arginne, serotonin, dopamine, autocrine agents, beta-endorphin and other tongue twisters that are responsible for most of nicotine's effects. Effects that are, in fact, positive. Nicotine appears to enhance concentration, memory, alertness and arousal, reduces pain and anxiety, extends the duration of positive effects, and increases sensitivity in brain reward systems.

There is evidence that nicotine itself has the potential to prevent and treat Alzheimer's disease, has been shown to delay the onset of Parkinson's disease, has a mild laxative effect reducing symptoms of ulcerative colitis, and reduces the chance of breast cancer among women carrying the very high risk BRCA gene. Nicotine is unique in comparison to most drugs as its profile changes from sedative to pain killer to stimulant in increasing dosages. Therefore, when using the E-Cig, the effect upon your system will depend on how much you "puff" but if you'll follow the advice given by other members, you'll have no problem. Nicotine does not induce weight gain.

Contrary to popular belief, nicotine does not cause cancer and is not a known carcinogenic. In cigarettes, cancer is caused over a long period of time due to smoke inhalation and the burning of various carcinogenic chemicals. In fact, while tobacco and nicotine have been used for centuries, lung cancer was unknown until the invention of the machine rolled cigarettes in the late 19th century. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has not evaluated nicotine in its standalone form or assigned it to an official carcinogen group. And, technically, nicotine itself is not significantly addictive, as nicotine administered alone does not produce significant reinforcing properties. But beware the word "significantly;" a word often used in the political arena and therefore highly suspect. Of course we become addicted to E-Cigs if for no other reason than the pleasure derived from them. But, unarguably, and until the medical society proves otherwise, it's a far, far safer -and cheaper- addiction than cigarettes. Enjoy yourselves.

The Janty stick was pretty bad. The V1 actually performed quite well but everything went down hill when they released the V2 and V2. I've tried a lot of e cigarettes, to many to count and there was some really "winners" in the bunch. But the worst was probably the e Pipe from china. What a POS that was. The jewel cover fell off, the battery would literally pop out if you hit the cover and performance was laughable. We called it the jack in the box e cig because you never really knew when the battery was going to pop out

I hear ya! I got quite the wide-eyed look from the soccer mom in the car next to me while I was waiting for my son to get out of practice the other day. I just smiled and kept vaping away. :P

One more note of encouragement here. I can't add anything to the wonderful advice that's already been given here, but I will say that it does get better - every day. I was a smoker for 34 years, too. As of six days ago, I've been smoke free for 3 years - thanks to vaping and the Vapor Talk family.

I'm on the bus on the way to work after not smoking for 9 days - YES! 9 days! lol Two guys get on the bus and OMG, they reeked. I didn't realize how awful the smell was on people until I quit. It almost was bad enough to make me ill. It's also in my apartment and furniture. I'm glad I'm moving to a smoke free house in 11 days because I can't stand it anymore. I don't want to become one of "those" people but I might already be one!

Took until my 3rd week to finally get past the loopiness, everyone is different, but for me my chest already quit hurting, I sleep soo well now being able to breath.
when I smoked a cig i I smoked the whole d*mn thing, no sitting in the ashtrays for me almost 2 pks a day for over 30 years and not being able to stop was killing me fast, literally.

for those times i seem a little edgy I up the nic level, i found changing the flavor helps as well. In the beginning what I thought I would like turned out to not do the job like I thought it would and now im still w bacco flavors but nothing like a marlboro light or parliament like I originally wanted.

then you need to factor in the equipment your using it may beat the urge but not satisfing the craving to just smoke a cig. there too once I found something to give me a choker hit i slowed way down (after gagging for 5 min lol) and had alot less urge to feel the real smoke, the feel of the hit is one of the most important parts of all this.

then theres the worst part, some of your physical symptoms are your mind playing tricks on you, trying to get that cig back between your fingers, why?
You said you smoked over 30 years, as I, I couldnt figure it out, the nic was under control, the feeling of smoking was there, but why did I start to get edgy at work or after a good meal and still want a real one?

Becuase its not just a mindless addiction, or chemical attachment, iits a part of you, what you do, who you are
it defined you, good times, bad times, breakups, new job, new house, parties, depression, sadness and triumph. that cigarette was always there, the friend who never judged, never faltered, never changed, and we made sure we went out of our way to get another.
now your simple trying to tell your brain and body "cant touch that anymore", and your gonna get cranky, hell most people cant throw away a pair of worn out jeans if they still feel good, why should we expect something we have done for 30 years to be any easier.
it can keep the addiction in check but some people have to mentally adjust to the fact that its working but its not completely the same thing.

i cant suggest anything for your health as i dont know the general condition your in. but drink lots of water(very important), rest if you feel you need it, and try to take a walk or something active to get you breathing again.

I found some juices, no matter what it says on the label just dont get it done like something the same strength from someone else does (different grades/quality of nic maybe? anyone?).

maybe change the equipment up a little, like stated that feeling/taste of the hit helps sooooo much.

good luck and dont give in without a fight. It's tough, you feel crappy at times but everyone is telling the truth, you WILL start to feel better, and dont feel guilty if you slip in a real smoke once in a while, not everyone does a complete switch at once, at first I didnt I smoked 2 or 3 a day then week 2-3 I couldnt stand the taste of real smokes anymore and went nuts with the vaping. 5 weeks in I still think about cigs but cant find any reason to go get one.

for me 5 weeks= 70 packs of cigs=$525 not spent on killing myself.

My boss only asked that I be discreet about it if I want to vape inside at work. I'm a public employee and I sit at a desk that has a window to the public. He didn't think it would look very professional if I was sitting there puffing clouds of vapor while people were standing there asking for help. Some people have no sense of humor!
