I know this answer is off topic, but.....
I finally found the source of leaking with my vivi nova....there was a separation at the bottom of the tank. the piece that screws into the battery separated slightly from the metal section that unscrews from the tank. I just reseated it and no more leak. I find it separates when I have had it in my pocket and it gets a bit battered. Now I just check it now and again, haven't had any more trouble with leaking.

This is one I'll be saving up for! They're not expensive, about 50 for the kit with the iClear's added.
    I love the retractable charger!
I hope they are as sturdy as they look and stand the test of time. I already want to recommend them to others lol. Patience dear, patience.

As the market continues to explode, a plethora of gadgets and juices all claiming to be "the best" surrounds us, and it would cost a small fortune sampling everything. For the simple E-Cig, I've found an outstanding product -"BLOOG." Their standard batteries are far more powerful lasting much longer than standards; the cartos are designed for a simple refill -which they advocate-with just the flick of a fingernail; the juices are superb. The REAL shocker is the easy draw hit with loads of vapor! And, their pricing/ship charges are more than competitive. I've yet to try their clearomizers, etc., but based on my starter, I sure will.

DarthVaper reacted to xladybugx in Does your Vision Vivi Nova v2.5 get intermittent "mystery leaks"? This may be why...
There are two MAJOR reasons for these leaks that I've experienced:

    1. The head has came slightly unscrewed enough for juice to leak in to the core when you unscrew the metal cap from the tube (which in turn sometimes turns the silicone gasket, which in turn turns the head, thus unscrewing it a little). The symptom of this is a leaky 510 connection through the air holes, which may seem like the tank is leaking from the bottom of the tube when placed on its side.
    2. Sometimes... the silicone gasket is cut slightly too long for the metal cap to fit over it to create the perfect snug seal... and the silicone gasket will push over to the side when you're screwing the metal cap on to the tube. It's impossible to avoid by just being careful... you'll have to take a small screwdriver or other thin stick like tool and slowly screw the cap on, stopping every once in a while to manipulate the silicone gasket's position so that it is perfectly centered with the hole in the center of the metal cap. If you don't do this, the symptom will seem like the tube is leaking from both ends when placed on its side, because juice is leaking both out the gaping hole created by the off-center silicone gasket (thus leaking out the top of the metal cap) and also leaking down in to the center of the core and through the air holes in the 510 connection.

    Other possible causes:

    - You may have some of the wick screwed in with the head, which is now wicking juice in to the center of the core and down through the 510 connection's air holes
    - The tube itself may need to be tightened at one end or both ends
    - You may have bought a China clone head/tank and not the genuine Vision brand. The China clone heads I have seen have a pointy metal gasket over the silicone gasket... this is NOT Vision's original design and WILL leak A LOT
    - If your tube is plastic and you've been vaping citrus/sour/cinnamon/acidic juices, it may be cracked (never had this happen with my STV tubes but it's always a possibility with plastic tubes)

These are the most major issues I can think of. Feel free to add on if you think of more! Recently I got some new heads and #2 became an issue.... initially I thought it was my new tube... thank goodness I thoroughly troubleshooted the tank and found that issue, which was a completely new one to me. This issue is what inspired me to create this thread as a sort of "complete Vivi Nova troubleshooting guide" for the forum since I have noticed there are a lot of others here that use this tank system as well, and leaks are a pretty common issue with it that are usually easily (and cheaply) resolvable without having to toss out the system and buy a new one.

DarthVaper got a reaction from Judy A in Looking for a Good Caramel Macchiato
    Hi folks,

Since I'm not ordering from Juicy Vapor anymore (if you don't know, the co-owner was arrested and charged with some pretty abhorrent crimes. I'm an attorney and I resolutely believe in innocent-before-proven-guilty, but if he turns out to be guilty, I don't want to be funding his legal defense), I've been hunting for a good Caramel Macchiato or equivalent.

    I've tried:
Vapor Talk (of course) - sorry Chris, maybe I got a bad batch, but it doesn't taste good and I don't want to bother you with a support ticket.

Virgin Vapor's "Organic Caramel Kona Milkshake" - the best so far, but a strong alcohol flavor mixed in that I'm getting tired of.

DIY Flavor Shack - tastes like burnt coffee, no caramel flavor at all.

Any other Caramel Macchiato lovers out there? Where can I find a good one?

    Thanks in advance!

DarthVaper reacted to kitsune in 4 Years vaping
It is so incredibly hard to believe it has been 4 years since I found ecigs and stopped smoking. I was one of the lucky ones, I got my first 510 on May 21st 2009 and had my last cigarette on May 22nd 2009.

When I found vaping, I had 100% quit quitting. I tried ecigs to get my mother off my back....that was that.

So much has changed in the last 4 years. When I started, we only had a couple choices...510 or 901....black or white. we only had traditional cartridges.
we only had a few vendors to choose from in the US, everything else was in china.

I also discovered the world of forums (I had never even read a forum).

Vapor talks and all the amazing people here are a big part of my journey.

Thank you Chris for providing such an amazing place for information, support and friendship

And a huge thanks to all the veteran Vaper Talk friends that have been such an incredible support and source of laughter

Despite your advice, Kitsune, I did remove *some* of the topmost wicking threads, (thought I'd killed it, but it bounced back after about 10 puffs) and the snapping and popping has subsided with continued use (unrelated to the wick pulling, I think).

Still can't decide if I like it though. At least it doesn't gurgle and leak like the CE4's were starting to do.

DarthVaper reacted to Ricketts in Heart Rate and Lung Capacity
LUNG CAPACITY: I'm 79 years old and have been using the E-Cig for only 6 months. During my recent annual physical, the Spirometer test indicated that my lung capacity had almost doubled. Obviously, I'm quite pleased. For exercise, I bicycle every other day for about an hour, but last year's test showed no change so I must attribute my improvement to the E-Cig. HEART RATE: Vapping straight nicotine gives us that "hit" and I had concern about elevated levels when vapping. Using a digital heart monitor, I made numerous tests both before and during heavy hits, finding no significant difference, and on several occasions, a reduced heart rate which, I assume, was the calming effect of mild nicotine use. I use both 16mg and 18mg levels. For further improvement, the doctor recommended that I definitely continue biking inasmuch as the lung sacs that are now being purged require exercising to attain maximum capacity. For those of you who have experienced improved breathing using E-Cigs, I highly recommend regular exercise. I know, it's boring and hard to get into, but it's a lot like substituting E-Cigs for analogs -once into the benefits, you become a little obsessed with it. I'm older than most -if not all- of you and I do it. So can you.

DarthVaper reacted to Krystal68 in Steeping?
To steep or not to steep... that IS the question!! Some do, some dont. However, I have found that a few days can make a difference. If I order a juice from a made to order vendor, I find that by the time it arrives, 3-5 days later) its usually melded (mixed, steeped) pretty good already. They are good vapes without any noticable flavor changes as the days pass. With that said, when I began mixing my own, I saw the importance of steeping.. Though it isnt easy to wait, a few steeping days make a HUGE difference. Flavors can seemingly taste disgusting or deemed as a failure right away while letting them sit, (shaking them often) blend and smooth the flavors for a more successful/ tasteful/ pleasurable vape. I know this doesnt answer your question, but hope that it gives you another opinion or perspective!

I agree with Synther and Ninjabat. Don't think you got the chest cold from Blu cigs. And I think going with the eGo models is a better place to start off. They've been around awhile and are still a go to device for me.

DarthVaper reacted to mcquinn in Want to ask different voltage will affect the taste ?
The answer to most of your questions is we are all different.Higher voltage or lower resitance heats the liquid hotter quicker so you get more warmer vapor. It usually does change the flavor ,some liquids change for the better some not so much.If you are just starting out I would suggest you stick to the basics.Get an Ego type battery ,there are lots of good deals on EGO tank types. The tanks don't work as good as other options but do work and you can ditch them when they go bad.You are mostly after batteries and charger. The you have to experiment with stuff like Boge refillable cartomisers, dripping with Ego,Joye 510 and 306 atomisers and Vivi Nova Clearomiser or Vision Clearomisers.Any of those should do a good job ,the tricky part is finding liquids you like and for that you just have to try a little from everybody until you find what you like.Hope that helps.Kind of overwhelming at first.

I get it all the time, and people seem to lay off when you clear up a HUGE misconception about both smoking and vaping. NICOTINE DOES NOT CAUSE CANCER!! I've found that an overwhelming amount of non-smokers assume that nicotine is the most harmful part about smoking, and that even alone, it causes cancer.

Generally, once i explain to people that nicotine alone is very similar to caffeine, and that it is not a carginogen, and it is not what's harmful about cigarettes (it just keeps you inhaling what IS harmful), they generally are more accepting. I feel like that's been one of the biggest suprises in telling people about vaping is they think nicotine is what causes cancer in cigarettes.
