"Are E-Cigarettes Better For Your Health? The Doctors Weigh In... "
Part of a new series: It's what many smokers are calling a “miracle technological breakthrough.” But, could making the switch to electronic cigarettes really change your life? *Mentioned E-Cigarettes Were Provided By: "Direct E-Cig™ E-Cigarette"

We investigate the truth behind this new technological breakthrough.E lectronic cigarettes have recently grabbed the attention of countless tobacco users across the United States. Also known as the “E-Cigarette,” these groundbreaking devices are raising a lot of eyebrows. Are they really a healthier and cheaper alternative to traditional cigarettes? Creators say these devices are very different from the traditional cigarette, and thousands of smokers have already made the switch with hopes the device will be better for their health. But can this clever looking contraption live up to all the hype? Is there any scientific evidence that electronic cigarettes truly are the #1 smoking alternative?

When we first inspected the electronic cigarette, it was easy to see that the device in fact does look and feel like a traditional cigarette. Creators and product users are claiming that you can now enjoy a healthier cigarette without the bad smells, second-hand smoke, or cancer causing chemicals. Plus they claim you can still get your nicotine fix. Sounds almost too good to be true right? That's what we thought as well. So we had our own Vanessa Michaels test these incredible claims. And the results, to say the least, were very shocking. Here are just a few of the benefits that Direct E-Cig™ electronic cigarettes have been claiming on their website:
•No tar, tobacco, carbon monoxide, or ash.
•Get the same amount of nicotine as a regular cigarette.
•Each cartridge costs less than $2 and is equivalent to an entire pack of cigarettes.
•You can save over $1,000 each year.
•You won't "smell" like a smoker any longer.
    •Different flavors are available.
    •No more second-hand smoke.
When Vanessa received her electronic cigarette trial kit, she passed the device around so everyone could take a closer look. Sure enough, the product looked and felt like a cigarette. The device was also very well made and seemed safe to use. When Vanessa took her first few drags on the device, we all stared in amazement. It looked like Vanessa was smoking in the office, but with one huge difference. There was no tobacco smell and no second-hand smoke. Just a harmless vapor.

We were also able to confirm the money savings claims. Each cartridge was equivalent to approximately 1 pack of cigarettes at a cost of only a couple of dollars each, meaning that smokers who smoke 1 pack per day can easily save over $1,000 per year. Since the device satisfied Vanessa's nicotine cravings, we knew that we had found a product that actually works.

We decided to research exactly what expert medical doctors and product users had to say about Direct E-Cig™ electronic cigarettes. The results were surprising. In fact, the United Health Organization concluded that "In the short time that electronic cigarettes have become popular, the number of people who have been able to quit smoking and stay cigarette free have risen by an estimated 300%. No other methodology has proven so successful in such a short period of time."

    A New U.S. Health Trend?
Four very well known doctors, from the popular TV show “The Doctors”, have shared great insight with us on the topic of the electronic cigarette. The electronic cigarette was featured as one of their top 10 key health trends for 2009.

“The greatest issue with cigarettes is the 500+ other ingredients added, not just the nicotine. Do we recommend this for non-smokers? Of course not, but for current smokers this is the most revolutionary device to date” - Dr. Travis Stork

None of the doctors on the show are smokers, so they used a female smoker, Beverly, as a case study. Beverly had struggled with smoking for 15 years. By day 2, this former "heavy smoker" had eliminated the use of regular cigarettes all together, and was pleased to report that she now only uses her electronic cigarette. She admits that the E-Cigarette is very satisfying and definitely recommends it to other smokers.

How Does The Direct E-Cig™ E-Cigarette Work?

Technology has enabled engineers to create a safer cigarette for everyone. Using the device is simple enough. If you know how to smoke a regular cigarette, then you'll know how to smoke an electronic cigarette.

A Look Inside The Electronic Cigarette Here's a simplified explanation of the 4 step process that occurs when you enjoy an electronic cigarette:
•Step #1: A flow sensor will detect that air is traveling through the e-cigarette when the user inhales.
•Step #2:Liquid nicotine and flavoring contained in the cartridge goes into the atomization chamber while the Smart Chip controls the amount.
•Step #3:The Heating Vapor Coil "atomizes" the liquid creating a rich vapor very similar to smoke. While this vapor is enjoyed, the indicator light is signaled.
•Step #4: When the smoker finishes inhaling, the LED in the indicator light fades out. The smoker is free to partake in additional drags on the device.
We are pleased to report that all of this occurs in an extremely safe manner. In fact, it is virtually impossible to unintentionally start a fire with an electronic cigarette, another huge benefit that can potentially save lives.

I can't believe a customer has to register at a forum before they can get help in returning the product.

I received the product today and it's all corroded!!!

I don't see anything on the store site that relays how to return the product, no print out return slip, nothing but to register here.

I won't be buying again and I do expect a full refund. Perhaps I should call my credit card company to deny the charge.

Absolutely horrible site, horrible product, horrible service.

As everyone said is so true ! I sit back and remember how everything was while smoking and I didn't like it. I made a list of reasons to stop smoking to always go back to when things get hard.

    1. Walking up a flight of stairs with out my heart pumping like crazy.

    2. Chest hurting me from chain smoking.

    3. Coughing all the time and throat hurting.

    4. Not being able to Cary my kids in my arms.

    5. The Bad smell on me and everything else.

    6. Being a little on the heavy side worrying about a Heart attack.

    7. Not spending enough time with my kids " always leaving to smoke".

    8. Getting yelled at by my Doctor.

    9. Whiter teeth

    10. Shorthing my life span, and not being around when the kids get older.

Man I really can wright 100 or more things about why I quiet smoking and let me tell you MONEY has to be in the higher numbers like in the 60's ! IF I have extra money I spend it on vaping and if I don't I save until I do so. Vaping has saved my life and many more people and I am great full for it everyday I wake up and kiss my kids and wife ! So for the price of vaping will never out weigh the price I paid for my good health ! So I never think about turning back, and pray for the people who don't like vaping to not turn back to smoking especially do to money ! God Bless all my vaping Friends !

Your posts are a little confusing, first you say you want something that looks like a cigarette, then you say you want something that looks nothing like a cigarette? Then you say you want something you can pass around at a party.... E cigs are nothing like a Hookah, and they are referred to as personal vaporizers not really for sharing.

I posted something similar a month ago about people vaping just because there was no law against it. What a backlash I got from my vaping community ! People where telling me that they will vape whenever and wherever they want and to me thats disrespectful. Like I said before stop and think and change your ways because what some of us are doing is just pushing the limit. I have been vaping now for about three months now and my family is so happy I stop analogs but my wife wont let me vape with my kids in the car or in the house. For that I respect her request not to. It just don't make sense why bring bad judgment on our selfs we don't need it ! How the government drilled into everyones heads how analogs will kill you and the people around you no wounder when people see smoke "vaper" that they get scared. I for one will not vape where I feel it is not appropriate to do so. The more attention we get from people who don't vape or just don't know about it will just not help us move forward in the right direction. There is always someone out there who wants the attention and be the one to put a stop to something they don't do.

Nanna consider yourself lucky that you found a juice that you love so fast. I have tried 60 or more flavors and haven't found that WOW juice yet. But for now I am vaping Backwoods Brew " Casablanca " this juice is really good. For the juices you have you would see around the forums that people say to steep your juice for a week or more because some juices get a lot better. I have had some juices that taste really nasty when I first tried them but after waiting a couple of weeks it was totally different, I liked it. So let the ones you have sit for awhile and try them again in a week. I had the same issues with the juices I bought and I to thought it was my taste buds but as you will find out all juices are different from all vendors so keep trying sample juices. So in that way it doesn't break the bank and you get to try a lot more. If I where you buy a lot more of the juice you love because we all know that it's not a good thing to run out. Try out Dulce from vapor Talk store it's a good vape but for me it's good but for you it might taste bad. Also juices change flavor with different voltages, some juices are bad at 3.7v but at 5v it's good. Good Luck

Prouddad reacted to Uma in I Hope Not
Here's a tutorial from HighPing that might help: Be sure to read the entire instructions first before trying. Many tips were added after the initial listing.

    1. Blow out any excess juice.
    2. Rinse with hot water and blow out thoroughly. (no need to dry over night, or anything. They have a built in dryer )
    3. Connect to battery...preferably something higher voltage than stock. I use my variable voltage power supply that's connected to a PS passthrough and set it to about 5.2V for a 510 (6.5ish for an 801), but if all you have is stock, then that will work too.
    4. Push button until you see orange hot...carefully...not super bright (white hot).
    5. Let off button and blow down the barrel (from a distance, not with your mouth actually on it), this kind of flash cools it and also gets some of the moist air out to speed the drying process.
    6. Repeat (steps 4 and 5) 5-10 times... you will see that gradually (once you've got it dry) the glow will occur much quicker.
    7. Once you have it to this point, press and release the button at a rate that just holds the orange glow (kind of a manual 'pulse width modulate'). Keep this glow going for 20-30 seconds, being very careful to maintain the glow at low orange (not bright red/white) or you'll pop it.
    8. Once you have done that, repeat steps 2-7 one more time.

At this point you will have an atty that performs like (or better than) brand new. I have used this technique with 510, 801, 901, 401, and 4081 attys and it always works for me. I like this method because it is quick and simple. No need for any cleaners or overnight soaking. Takes 2-3 minutes and you're back in business.

** You do have to use some caution, as you can pop an atty pretty easily until you have the method down. I haven't popped one in quite some time though.

**Also, no need to remove the wick (that's in there for a reason), as you are baking all the gunk out when you do this. This is the reason for the second rinse in the middle of the process. You basically turn the gunk to ash with the sustained orange glow, then rinse the ash out.

If anyone tries this, give some feedback and let me know if you find any ways to perfect this method. Seems to work great, but there are always ways to improve

Edit: (some tips on the "rinse, dry and burn" stages of the process)

**Tips on the 'rinse' stage (step 2)
Step 2 is meant to get as much juice out of the atty as possible. The more juice you can get out with the water rinse, the faster you will get the atty dry in steps 4&5. (The water will evaporate off much quicker than juice.)
    - Rinse by just running hot water from the tap first. Then once you have it somewhat clean, fill the atty barrel with water then (before all the water runs out), put it in your lips and blow the water through really hard. This will give all the nickel foam that's in the atty a kind of "power wash" and get most of any remaining juice out.

**Tips on the 'dry' stage (steps 4 & 5):
Steps 4 and 5 are meant to get the atty 'bone dry', before you move on to step 6 and the button pulsing.
-The more water you can blow out before connecting to the batt, the better. Blow through the atty really hard from both ends (not at the same time)
    - You can also blow gently down the barrel (from a distance), while holding the button in step 4 to speed the drying process. This will clear the hot moist air out of the atty and allow for a quicker drying time. The key in these steps is to get the atty dried out.

Tips on the 'Burn' stage (step 7)
The whole key to not popping the atty is keeping a good visual on the coil, and watching the hottest part while pulsing the button. I have had a few attys that will get bright hot on one end of the coil and nothing on the other end of the coil. The way to make this method the most effective is to maintain that orange glow at the hottest end while pulsing the button. If you keep it up long enough you will see the glow slowly migrate across the coil. When you are all done the entire coil should glow when the button is pressed.
Once you are past the drying step, you should not hold the button for more than one second. It should really be much shorter than that. More like a button pulse of 2-3 times a second.

    Youre total would be 11.9 mg/ml ( say 12mg/ml)

For the 555 you have 15 ml of 4mg/ml which equals 60mg

For the RY4 you have 10.5 ml of 18mg/ml which equals 189mg

For the Coffee you have 4.5 ml of 24mg/ml which equals 108mg

    Add those 3 amounts ( 60 +189 + 108) and your total is 357mg

Now divide that amount by your total ml which is 30ml

    The result is 11.9mg/ml

    Go Jeff!!

    To the OP:

Since you know your percentages, and they add up to 100%, there is another simple way to calculate this:

Take your percentages, multiply by mg, add them together, and divide by 100.

    First multiply percentage by mg:

    35% at 18 mg=35*18 (35*18=630)
    50% at 4 mg =50*4 (50*4 =200)
    15% at 24 mg=15*24 (15*24=360)

Now, add your totals together: 630+200+360=1190

Now, since that makes 100%, didvide your total by 100:
    1190/100=11.9

In essence, you are trying to find the average nicotine in the bottle.
    Hope that helps!

Hi Proudad, Here's a couple of pics to help clarify everything.

The cartridge will come with atomizer when you buy it:

A drip tip is usually bought seperately:

If you have a cartridge follow mcquinns advice. if you have a drip tip, you'll notice in the pic that there is a small O-ring at the bottom. You might be able to find a thicker O-ring at a hardware store that would give you a tighter fit.
