BirdDog reacted to Lily in Need Help Finding Liquid
Hi James, I ditto B80. Hang in there. This is a transition and it takes a little time for things to fall into place. I've received e-liquid I swore I was going to trash right away. But after reading a bit on the forum about e-liquid and reading some of the e-liquid reviews, what I did (this is just me) was do or die vape it for at least a day. What often happened is that the flavor began to grow on me. In the beginning our tastebuds are pretty dead and our sense of smell is off or even non-existent. What I thought was awful now tastes great and what I thought was great is, well, I certainly won't order it a second time! I guess vaping is a choice. Honestly, I don't know what I'd be doing if I still had to smoke analogs. Please let us know how it goes. There's a lot to think about, do and learn in the beginning. It will work if you want it to!

I was wondering how the XL E2 V4 for 510 is? seems others have had issues but for a cartomzr with no filler/all ceramic that holds 2ml .......... doesn't seem to be a reason to make/buy a wetbox mod anymore since the little bottle used doesn't hold much more ....... I've seen them advertised $13-$18/5pk or $98/100 from manf. in China

    Welcome to the forum!

The Ego would be a good choice to start with. The Ego uses a 510 atomizer. The 510 produces really good vapor. I do have the Ego and am very happy. I mostly use a regular 510 atomizer (with drip tip for direct dripping) or a 510 cartomizer.

The 302 atomizer is a pen style atomizer. It is longer and wider than the 510. That doesn't mean it holds more liquid than the 510, it is just a different style. The 302 also produces very nice vapor and IMO better flavor. The 302 will not fit on the Ego. You will need a 510 to 302/801 atomizer adapter for it to fit on the Ego battery. I am not sure if there is 510 to 302/801 adapter. I am sure someone else will be able to answer that question. I usually go the opposite direction, fitting a 510 on a 302/801 fitting.

If you plan on going the direct drip route, I suggest you get a drip tip. The drip tips have a wide bore hole that allows you to drip the liquid on the atomizer without having to remove the mouth piece.

For liquid choices, because you smoke about 1-2 packs a day, I would go with a bit higher level. I am going to suggest 16/18 mg. I smoked about what you did and that seem to fit me well. I have tried some stuff a bit higher and it really made me goofy. Also, get a few different flavors. Maybe a tobacco flavor, something fruity and something in between. Tobacco flavors really don't mimic the flavor of a real cigarette. IMO tobacco flavors have a nutty flavor.

I am sure others will be stopping by to give you more information. Good luck and welcome!

BirdDog reacted to squidward in Possible Dangerous Downside To E-Cigs
Hi.. Noob here. Regarding downsides to e-cigs, one I'm wondering concern I've thought about about seems valid to me-- prolonged storage of used moist cartomizers can develop mold undetected due to enclosure. Use of such a cartomizer could result in a major lung infection causing serious illness or death.

I'd like to know if there is any data substantiating this concern, but to me, it sounds legit because you're drawing in foreign air particles (which can include airborne bacteria and viruses) that embed themselves in the batting. Unless refrigerated, the contaminated batting under optimal conditions (warm temperature, moist environment) is subject to bacterial growth and mold spores. And we all know the dangers in breathing in mold.

While I've not heard anyone dying from use of e-cigs yet, it's still relatively new and perhaps this might be the reason for the first death? I wonder what tests have been made on e-cigs to ensure this is not an issue? It seems like a legit scenario I would want to test for if I was in charge of quality and safety testing.

Now, one might argue the heat from the atomizer will curb growth, but what if you don't use it for several days or weeks? Will the heat from the vaping action prevent spores from being inhaled? Probably. Probably not.. But until these things are tested, questions are answered, it's probably something to think about...

You want to drip 2-3 drops on the atomizer. I use 2 drops when dripping. Another thing that helps is putting the drops in the atomizer along the side, don't drip directly on the bridge. Some people prefer to remove the bridge and the filament (white strings under the bridge) for dripping. I don't suggest this, I find it leaks more when this is done. You should get about 5-10 draws from the drops. Try not to tip the PV with the atomizer down. It is best to keep the atomizer elevated. If the atomizers gets tipped upside down or it lays horizontal for awhile you can get liquid in the cart and it will end up in your mouth. Don't give up, it takes a little practice.

edit - I also wanted to add that condensation will happen in the cart and that might be what you are experiencing. If you let it build up, you can get the liquid in your mouth.

The filler in the carts can be a pain. Most people give up and go with direct dripping. The drip tips do not have filler, they have a wide bore hole that allows you to drip on the atomizer without the hassle of removing the cart. See this section My link, there is a video there that talks about direct dripping.

If dripping is not for you, you may want to pick up some cartomizers. They are a cart/atomizer all in one unit. There is also another video in that same section that talks about cartomizers.

    Hello Chris .
Very well written very well written Chris.
Generic can be a strong word that is misunderstood by the general public.
Thanks for the clarification that Me / WordupEcig.com does not and will not sell fake knockoff items as I know the same high standards are practised at Vapor talk store along with Chris not letting any supplier be registered on this forum who are or may sell fake knockoff or who are lying and calling something that it is not what it really is.
I know of a lot of forums (No Names mentioned) that let people/Suppliers come in and call a known knock off a Joye, Janty or Ruyan. Knot Happening Here!
Me and Chris may have our differences but we both believe that the customer comes first and if you (The customer) are purchasing a knock off you should be told this is a knock off so you can then make your own decision. When purchasing your product always review the site you are purchasing from and always ask question and if the price is to good to be true it is just that.
    Thank You

After reading all of your comments, I apologize for broaching this subject on this forum. You can be assured that I will live the way I live and not take offense to anything that is said. Life is just too short to woryy about these kinds of things. In the future i will refrain from any mention of this subject regardless of what choices myself or my wife decide is comfortable for our lives together.

I was after all looking for input and you all have told me how strongly you feel about a subject such as this.

I will continue to visit this forum and I will continue to post, but I will censure my input to my own personal experiences and questions that relate only to me and my use of cigarettes and or e-cigarettes.

I thank you all for your comments and I apologize for broaching such a sensitive and controversial topic.

I will not encourage a non-smoker to try vaping. I just don't think it is a good idea, especially if they have never had the addiction to cigarettes. If it is stress she wants to tackle, I think she should find something else to calm it. I do see the attraction she might have with you picking up this new hobby and becoming very interested in it herself. This is a decision you should make with your wife. But please try and keep her to stay with the zero nic.

I have been thinking about this for a few days now. It really is a hard decision, there are so many nice people that I have met over the months. I have watched many people come and go from this forum. Some are/were, hilarious, full of information, opinionated, kind, giving and a few of them were a bit on the unusual side. With this combination the forum has turned into a great place to be.

During the early days of chat, long before the video, we would gather and talk about vaping, life in general and poke fun at each other. I haven’t been in chat lately because my feed is slow and I miss most of everything that is said. So I miss hanging out with Mark, Jeffb, Ofortuna, StevenP, TSM, Keenan, and when Chris had the time to join us.

I appreciate all the people I have met on the board. Ddave, Brian, Nana, FTjoe, Schizo, Sinikal (still listening to WRIF when I can), VegasVapor and I can’t forget Vacker. Vacker did your dog finish that hole she was digging to China yet? I know that I am missing a lot of people, there are so many.

There is been a great number of new people over the last few months and your additions have been wonderful for the forum. If I missed greeting you, then welcome to the VT forum.

I have to thank Mark for thinking of me by adding me to this contest and for the kindness and generosity that he has shared with the community. A big shout out to the master, Chris, for all his hard work and providing such a nice place for us to gather.

So looking through the list of people already named for this contest, I have decided to add StevenP to the list. He is a genuinely nice person to have here on the forum and I really think he deserves it.

Some suppliers will take the regular 510 or 901 and brand it with a fancy name. It will come with logos on them or maybe custom packaging. They might then mark it up and have a higher price. But when it comes down to it, a 510 is a 510. You may want to read Chris's blog about Janty and Joye. It might make things a bit more clear. Ecig Guru Blog

Looking at your title for this thread you mention the Joker. The Joker is a whole different type of ecig. Models like the Joker, Silver Bullet, Indulgence and the Chuck, (to name a few) are what we call mods. These e-cig modifications are built for longer battery life and more power. The batteries used in these will extend the time between charging. A regular 510 battery lasts a couple hours and a mod will last up to 8 hours or maybe longer before having to be re-charged.

The other purpose of these high dollar mods is the voltage. The Joker for example is a 5v mod. Other mods like the Chuck can either be 3.7 or work at 6v. This depends on the battery combination that you choose to use. The regular 510 battery performs at 3.7 volts. The higher the voltage the more power to the atomizer, which means more vapor. Most of these mods are hand made by manufacturers in the US. Except for the Indulgence, I think that is made in China.

I hope this helps, I tried to make it as simple as possible.

Alert: Urge FDA to protect health of smokers and vapers, not cigarettes

Dockets now available to submit comments urging FDA to protect the health of smokers, not cigarettes

The Citizens Petition by the American Association of Public Health Physicians (AAPHP) urging the FDA to reclassify and regulate electronic cigarettes (nicotine vaporizers) as tobacco products (instead of trying to ban the products by classifying them as drugs or devices) is at Regulations.gov

To submit a comment urging supportive action by the FDA, go to Regulations.gov

    Suggested talking points:
    - since e-cigarettes (nicotine vaporizers) are derived from tobacco, the FDA can legally reclassify and regulate them as "tobacco products",
    - by choosing to classify e-cigarettes as "drugs" or "devices", the FDA was/is attempting to ban the products,
    - hundreds of thousands of smokers already have significantly reduced their health risks by switching to e-cigarettes,
    - by reclassifying e-cigarettes as tobacco products, the FDA would ban their sale to minors, can establish other reasonable and responsible product regulations, would help to reduce (instead of maintain) cigarette consumption, and would save taxpayers money that FDA continues to waste,
    - in SE vs FDA, federal Judge Richard Leon has ruled that the FDA can regulate e-cigarettes as "tobacco products", but not as "drugs" or "devices",
    - sales and use of e-cigarettes have continued to sharply increase despite the FDA's ongoing attempt to ban the products,
    - banning e-cigarettes would primarily protect cigarette markets at the expense of consumer and public health,
    - if applicable, describe your personal experience using e-cigarettes.

The Citizens Petition by the American Association of Public Health Physicians (AAPHP) urging the FDA to clarify/correct inaccurate and misleading claims about electronic cigarettes (nicotine vaporizers) made at the FDA's July 22, 2009 press conference, and to truthfully inform the public of existing evidence about the products is now available at Regulations.gov

    Suggested talking points:
    - the FDA Electronic Cigarettes grossly mispresented its own laboratory test findings on two brands of e-cigarettes http://www.fda.gov/downloads/Drugs/S.../UCM173250.pdf
    - in contrast to claims made at the FDA's press conference, there is no evidence that e-cigarettes have ever harmed any user or nonuser, and there is no evidence that e-cigarettes are marketed to youth,
    - the FDA failed to acknowledge any evidence (sent to the agency) that e-cigarettes are far less hazardous alternatives to tobacco cigarettes, and that thousands of e-cigarette users informed the agency they had quit smoking by switching to the products,
    - cigarette smokers have a human right to truthful information about, and legal access to, less hazardous alternatives,
    - FDA officials have an ethical duty to protect consumer health and to provide truthful health risk information,
    - if applicable, describe your personal experience using e-cigarettes.

More than TWO YEARS have passed since NY State Health Commissioner Richard Daines submitted a Citizens Petition to the FDA at Regulations.gov to (1) allow FDA approved Over The Counter NRT products (i.e. nicotine gums, patches and lozenges) to be sold in all stores that sell cigarettes; (2) allow NRT products to be sold in less expensive daily dose units; and (3) change labels on NRT products to inform consumers of the health benefits of NRT compared to cigarettes, to eliminate unsubstantiated health warnings, and to encourage use of NRT if tobacco use continues.

To submit a comment urging supportive action by the FDA, go to Regulations.gov

Please note that another petition very similar to Richard Daines' petition was recently submitted by SRNT and ATTUD, which is now awaiting docketing by the FDA.

    Suggested talking points:
    - many more smokers would try using NRT products if they are sold in $5-$10 packages instead of just in $35+ packages,
    - more smokers would try using NRT products if they are sold at more retail stores alongside cigarettes,
    - current warning labels on NRT products mislead many consumers to believe they pose far greater health/safety risks than is the case,
    - NRT products are far less hazardous than cigarettes, and are often used as temporary and/or long term substitutes for cigarettes,
    - smokers can reduce their health risks by concurrently using NRT products and cigarettes, with risk reduction proportionate to cigarette reduction,
    - many/most NRT products are consumed by people who have used the products longer than the twelve weeks currently approved by the FDA, and
    - although clinical trials find that just 7% of NRT users remain smokefree after six months, many NRT users consider them acceptable alternatives to cigarettes.

I have the blu and i don't use it since i got a 510! But for a back up it may do the job for just 40 bucks. There is hardly any vapor. The only good thing i liked was the charging pak.

The way I see it you potentially waste juice with either method. With dripping you will occasionally flood, with carts you will waste what is left over in an old cart when you finally throw it away. There's obviously more to it than that, but all I'm getting at is as people are saying find what works best for you. I like to drip about 70% of the time. But I still use carts when dripping is less than convenient (mostly when driving, though I've been dripping and driving lately too). There are also some cart mods that users swear by, just keep trying till you find the right solution for you.
