  1. After reading all of your comments, I apologize for broaching this subject on this forum. You can be assured that I will live the way I live and not take offense to anything that is said. Life is just too short to woryy about these kinds of things. In the future i will refrain from any mention of this subject regardless of what choices myself or my wife decide is comfortable for our lives together. I was after all looking for input and you all have told me how strongly you feel about a subject such as this. I will continue to visit this forum and I will continue to post, but I will censure my input to my own personal experiences and questions that relate only to me and my use of cigarettes and or e-cigarettes. I thank you all for your comments and I apologize for broaching such a sensitive and controversial topic.
  2. I have found that after vaping all day long at work, when I have one in the evening, it is not very good, but that 1st one in the morning after sleeping for 7 or 8 hours tastes and feels just like it always has. The day before yesterday, I had my usual morning ciggy, but when I went to have one in the evening, I put it out half way through. I am just going to keep working with it and see what happens, but the last thing I want to do is beat myself up because I am still smoking some analogs. Life is really just to short for that.
  3. I have been vaping on and off for about a year. I have now gotten more serious about at least reducing the quantity of analogs that I smoke to just a few a day. I just got my Joye 510 and like it a lot better. In most cases I find that vaping is an adequate replacement for analogs, but there are times when I just would rather have an analog. My main reasons for the switch are 2 fold. On one hand, with cigarettes ranging from $5.50 to $8.25 a pack here in Florida, the expense is killing me. On the other hand, I am 47 years old and I have smoked since I was 12 or 13. I've never smoked more than a little over a pack a day, but I know the health effects are bad and to make matters worse, I have a 5 year old son. I am very conscientious of my smoking and only smoke outside and use hand sanitizer when I finish a cigarette before I return inside so as not to offend my family with any adverse smells. Vaping allows me the opportunity to smoke in my office at work as well as in my house and car and gives me a great deal of freedom, but I find the experience is just different enough that I am not sure that I want to give up analogs altogether. Most days, I am now down to 2 or 3 analogs a day, and on 2 occasions when staying with friends or family, I went the weekend without any analogs. In my own mind I feel that only having 2 or 3 analogs is still much heathier for me than having 20 or 30 in a days time and lord knows I am saving a lot of money. Can anybody impart any wisdom on this and is there other people out there than still kling to thier analogs even though they vape on a regular basis?
  4. Bazinga.....Self destructive behavior in the form of overwork without taking breaks and always stressed by needing to do something to keep the mind and body busy is why the occurance of heart conditions in women is on the risw. My wife already uses xanax and she is now having a glass of wine or a wine cooler when she gets home as well as trying to play backgammon most evenings is helping, but she has to be mioving her hands all of the time and her mind won't release. At least when she vapes she is thinking about a new and totally different experience and she forgets to think about the other stresses in her life for a few minutes. I wish I had never started smoking as well, but I did and I did it for my own reasons. I enjoy smoking and I am switching to vaping as a potentially safer alternative, but my wife has talked about the fact that maybe she should take up smoking as a way to relax. I personally think her playing with vaping is much better than her thinking like that. I thought maybe I would get a little support from a vape support forum for allowing my wife to learn to vape rather than keep thinking maybe she should take up smoking. Heck at her job where the stress is very high, at least she isn't talking about smoking pot or trying cocaine like a lot of the other employees.
  5. Thank you for a very nice response. I have learned a lot about vaping from the site and am very glad I joined. I don't have a problem with my wife wanting to vape with me and neither does she so I don't see why anyone else should. As far as feeling welcome, I have not had that experience. I have basically had a very direct e-mail from the monitor reprimanding me and telling me that I should not post any more questions or comments about our personal experiences or the fact that my wife has made a choice to try something new without earning the right to try it I guess. I don't wish to encourage anyone to take up anything against thier will, but there is nothing wrong with people trying something new if they want to and I just wanted to know if anyone else has had the experience of trying this as a totally new thing without smoking 1st. Many people in this forum don't know me in any way and maybe my situation is different.....but wrong is a matter of perception and apparently I am being perceived as a deviant. By the way, just to share. I started smoking at a very early age out of curiousity. I stole cigarettes from my mom. When I was about 14, I found out that a lot of my peers in my sport of competitive springboard diving smoked as well and that reinforced the desire and ultimately lead to the addiction that I still can't break complettely.
  6. Oh, I agree with some of this, but we all started smoking at some point for some reason. The poor lady is already taking xanax and by the way please check your facts, xanax can be very addictive. Personally, I find the ritual of smoking - the hand to mouth, the process and watching the smoke rise out of my body to be very relaxing even with 0 nicotine, but that is just me i guess. Heck I probably never would have started smoking in the 1st place if I couldn't see the smoke and I find that if I smoke or vape in the dark and can't see the smoke, it just isn't the same.
  7. I guess I have been told. You will not hear about this subject again. Just one question for all of you have closed your minds to this subject.......Why did you start smoking in the 1st place? was it because you were stressed, because you wanted to be cool, to rebel against authority, was it a social thing or were you just trying to kill yourselves by starting a habit that is known to harm your body in very severe ways. If you look at the statistics (as I have) there are as many people taking up smoking cigarettes at young ages (between the ages of 13 and 21) today as there were 8 years ago and the total number of smokers has not gone down significantly. A lot of us are switching to vaping, but those younger people are still becoming smokers. I have to say that I really love the comment above about going to a doctor to turn my wife into a zombie by prescribing tranqualizers rather than occasionally vaping with zero nicotine. You want to talk about addictive and dangerous. Heck, all I wanted to know was if anyone else knew (not is encouraging) of anyone who chose to take up vaping that was a non smoker. It is a shame that this forum is so exclusive that you have to have to be a member of the smokers club to belong.
  8. Hi Cicely, I have had these same problems, but I am approaching it as a process. When I first started vaping, it was just not the same to me, but I cut my analog intake down from a carton a week to a carton every two weeks pretty quickly. Now I have gotten in more of a rythem and I am down to less than a pack a week of analogs. After a while, the analogs start tasting crappy, and sometimes I just do it to do it. I refuse to beat myself up for 2 or 3 analogs in a days time as I am already saving loads of money and feel much better. It also helps me to vape with some friends that I turned on to vaping and my wife (who has never been a smoker) even though the friends still smoke regularly. Change is hard and you have to make the change something that you don't resent or it won't stick. It is just like if you are using analogs and you switch brands. Occasionally you mightbuy and smoke the old brand for a little while, but eventually you won't even think about the old brand. This is the same thing.
  9. I have been a Vaper for a little while now and I must admit I am still trying to kick the analogs completely (I am down 2 less than a pack a week) and my wife is really stressed out. Anyway, she was hinting around that maybe she should take up smoking to relax and also so that she could have a chance to take a break at work. She even tried an analog and did not like it. After that, I had her try my e-cig and she found it pretty pleasant. At this point she does not inhale and she mostly uses 0 nicotine (except when we do smoky kisses). She is now vaping 2 to 4 times a week and likes the strawberry and menthol flavors and watching the vapor come out of her mouth. Does anyone else have experiences with a non smoker taking up vaping?
  10. Does your wife smoke analogs, or is she just trying it out because you use it?? My wife has never smoked analogs (well she tried one not too long ago), but she enjoys the e-cig occasionally with me and usually does not inhale and uses 0 nic.
  11. Those are pretty cool and no shipping costs. They will work great for my wife and I.
  12. Last night, my wife and I were talking about vaping before we went to bed and she brought up an interesting question. Where does the nicotine in the e-juice come from and how do the suppliers/manufacturers get it? Does anyone have a good factual answer to this question?
  13. I like to put a rubber band around the bottle and when I am not using the atty/cart for that flavor, I just keep it banded to the bottle. It is always ready to go and I usually carry two flavors with me in the pocket of my jeans. It has worked pretty well so far and I have been doing this since I realized that it takes a while to clear the old flavor and nicotine level out of the atty. Another method that I heard about was to get different color nail polish and put a tiny spot on each atty and cart that match. Good luck and welcome to vapor talk.
  14. She is using mostly 0 nicotine or a very low 6mg nicotine mix so the side effects are minimal. Even when we do smoky kisses (very cool by the way) she is still only getting a little nicotine and I think the side effects are minimal. I would like to see this become a relaxing evening habit but don't want to see her addicted to anything except being with me.
  15. Thank you all so much for your input. I have learned a lot from this forum. Between this site and some other actual smoking forums and stories, I finally got it through my thick skull that I was trying to make her learn the way I wanted her to do it "right' Last night I told her that there is no pressure for her to inhale, or do anything else except enjoy and now that I have taken the pressure to learn off of her, she was relaxed and really seemed to enjoy vaping without feeling she has to learn. She really liked watching the vapor come out of her mouth, enjoyed the strawberry flavor and found it relaxing. She will eventually figure out how she wants to do it and learn on her own. I am still on analogs a little bit, but I have only had 4 so far this week and with the excitement of getting my new Joye 510 with all the toys I am hoping that I can decrease that even further, but I refuse to beat myself up for still using the analogs. It is like her, if there is pressure to do something in a certain way, or stop doing something, then it just adds resistance.
