    Kangertech Subox Nano

I run 12watts using my Nano with the .5 coil, any higher and it gets a harsh taste to it. The life of the coil depends on the juice and how many watts you use. A lot of people think the more watts the bigger the clouds, that isn't true unless you consider the cloud caused by the burnt cotton.

  3. Here is part 2 of the test. This is simulating a pulsed load at 70W on a Single 18650 variable wattage mod (or 2 at 140W total): Best 18650 Battery at pulsed loads of 70W per battery

  4. I have only lost 1 25R completely, but I can tell that some are not lasting as long as they were. I normally put in a fresh one before I leave to work, then replace that evening (8 - 10 PM). With the HG2, I don't have to replace. I realize that is totally unscientific, but it seems to be consistent. On a side note, I have been leaving batteries in my ipvD2 overnight, and it seems to be slowly draining them. I think I need to start taking them out at night.

  5. Interesting info on the Green-wrapped 25r5's... same performance, as the blue 25r2, but higher lifecycle counts. I'll have to look for those next time I buy batteries! Thanks, Jason... good info

  6. Charging through the unit (pass-through) is not an issue... that is why that port is there... not everyone has multiple batteries and chargers Yes, having more batteries is always a good thing... because you can swap them out as needed, and you're not tethered to a USB cord while it is charging. Also, the best reason is in case a battery fails during charge-cycle (rare, but can happen), which could spell disaster for you. I recommend having at least 2 batteries for your mod (at minimum). Label the batteries when you buy them, with the date and a letter (A-B-C-D), so you can remember which one is next in rotation... (ie. Pull battery-B, insert battery-C), and how old they are. This will ensure each battery is used equally, and they will provide max-life that way. For an external charger, buy a NiteCore i2 or i4! Their D2/D4 chargers look cool, but don't work any better than the i-series, they only cost more. For batteries... you can't go wrong with Samsung 25r or LG HE2. Purple eFest are probably over-kill in Amp-rating for your box, but still will work fine, but the Samsung are probably the lowest cost of the recommended batteries (I have more than a dozen of them, so I can say "I trust them").

  8. One thing I can tell you is that when using nickel wire (required for TC), you can build your coil according to the space you have to build in and not worry so much about hitting a target resistance like you have to do with Kanthal A1.
    1 point
  9. Ok. Here's my next question - is this technology too new to invest in at this time? Has anyone used it and what can you tell me about coil life and performance?
    1 point
  10. Sorry I just saw you posted a video Rixter. I'll check that out. It would seem to follow that if the coil is so regulated, that it would be the equivalent of just vaping with lower voltages. Perhaps this is not an issue with lightweight vaping gear - 1.8 coils running 3.7 V, for example. Doesn't seem like you'd run in to temperature problems at 8 or 9 watts.
    1 point
  11. Interesting. Is it automatic? In other words does it adjust for change in coil resistance? Or maybe I should ask - does it limit by voltage or by actual temperature, and how does it sense this? Just curious.

  14. Nanny states never let facts get in the way of their attempts to control what we do. Just happy I was born and live where I do.
    1 point
  15. Yeah, but isn't that a happy problem to have - health-wise? The main thing is that you're now off the analogs. The rest is downhill from there.
    1 point
  16. Unfortunately, I live in this state. I only quit smoking and started vaping a little over a month ago. Now I find myself defending vaping as the lesser of two evils to my family. They are happy as hell I have given up the analogs...now I find myself explaining to them those commercials are a lot of hype.

  17. Well, I just saw one of these California Dept of Public Health ads last night on TV. Just as commentary, I had a surprisingly strong reaction of betrayal. These ads are very slickly produced. They are not cheaply thrown together and they are very cleverly designed to frighten the general public with alarming misinformation. It's done with an authoritative air and this group of ads punches up long debunked issues on vaping.. There are NO facts, NO supporting evidence, no studies cited etc. it is just pure and simple rumor mongering without substantiation.. Appalling. It is discouraging to think your own tax money funds this BS. The really sad part is in this modern day media "no accountability" mentality where anyone with the bucks can stand up and spew lies and innuendo designed to cripple a well-meaning, grass roots movement, the uninformed will eat up this garbage thinking they've just been given the facts and they will unwittingly propagate this BS. Frankly, the Cal Dept of Pub Health has just made enemies of millions of potential allies. It is just the very definition of insanity. Cutting off your nose to spite your face. This sort of unbridled irresponsibility from those in a position of trust is exactly how corruption spreads in a society and how that society weakens as a result. The CDPH has just stood up and declared they are not interested in public health at all, but are in the pockets of those who would profit from the very diseases they so righteously claim to be fighting. Insane. Here is a link to a very good article debunking the CDPH's campaign. http://www.electroniccigaretteconsumerreviews.com/still-blowing-smoke-org-fact-vs-fiction/

That's why it's good that we have forums just for vaping. Here at Vapor Talk, we have a lot of knowledgeable, friendly members who stress safety, especially concerning batteries. Many of us also try to steer noobies to trusted vendors who only sell genuine product with no knock offs unless it's plainly marked as such so we can make an informed decision to buy or not.

  20. Very interesting read. I'll be sure to try your tip of using a very small amount of Menthol to create a less harsh hit without full menthol flavor. I'll visit my local smoke shop in the next few days to pick some up and report back with the results. Gotta finish watching my History Channel. American Revolution Patriots Rising! So far so good!!!

Just wondering. Granted, I've heard from, well, everywhere, not to trust Ultrafire, and even Trustfire are so-so, I believe, is what I heard. But the fact that this came off E-bay, and had another label UNDER the brand label could be an example of someone selling bad crap on E-Bay. We've seen how they've essentially sold batteries with very little voltage, or rather, very little capacity, wrapped in a brand name wrapping, selling it as a normal battery that we might use (I think this e-bay seller was using a Sony cover for the battery on the video I've seen).

OK, Just to clarify myself in case no one was reading, or got swept up in instant prejudice. I attacked an idea. Its my opinion that adding a competitive component to chasing in the public arena is a bad idea. I may have illustrated that in a way that those that have a stake in the idea took offense too. I knew it was going to start a fire, but it was based on sound facts. If it is`nt discussed with all the facts put on the table, you can bet your best juice the other side is not listening to the facts. If I personally singled out any single person for a personal attack, I`d like it quoted please? Just suggesting someone should listen is not a personal attack. Attacking an idea is discourse, nothing more. If you take it personally, I guess maybe I don`t know, out of my control really. If i`m too sensitive, well, I`m not the only one. And my feelings will grow back. All feeling grow back. Feelings ar`nt facts. But I do grow tired of swimming up stream, so I`m out of this discussion.

Bebop, I agree that our ability to have the products we now enjoy took inovation and effort by ppl in the past. I can't thank them enough for the oportunity to enjoy what I can today. Happy, I'm not saying that regulations here or abroad are in the best interest of ppl who want to vape. What I'm saying is that as a whole, vapers would likely not want to be judged based on their activisim. In other words, if you don't speek out or know the latest political actions you're a bad person/vaper. To catagorize ppl based on that is wrong IMO. Most are just trying to get by and reduce harm to themselves. I don't deny that supporting any organization that promotes our rights as vapers is a good thing!

Fishguy, Yes, politeness goes along way in getting the message across. Please have a google at whats going on in the UK and vaping. Their government is really trying hard to get it banned across the board. Those people are scared, and with good reason. This could be coming to America. If we let our comfortableness continue on to complete complacency, they WILL win the argument. All is good, as long as Iv been able to elucidate the consequences in this matter. :?) R

So far so good, I only out a few strained drops in the bottle. It actually taste more like a cig than I'm used too. Might be clogging tho little harder drag.. QUESTION what about flavors based in VG with only a little acohol in it? Our Chinise market has them cheap, they are natural and mostly VG. Considering you only put a few drops in your mix. Will the acohol hurt anything.

That really does sound strange. Not sure if possibly the wrong strength of nicotine or possibly a strange reaction to one of the flavors..... If you already diluted it down, I would lean toward a reaction to one of the flavors. If you are still getting strong throat hit....maybe try diluting a bit more and see how that works.

Ok whipped up 4 diff juices and tried cpl lastnight, started feeling light headed and didn't think much of it. This morning tried again and 4 - 5 drags same thing hazy and light headed. Too much Nic? Using the ejuicemeup calc and measured twice. Possible they miss marked the Nic strength? I can't hit the stuff 3 times without the haziness starting. Even tried dbling up the pg / vg in it. Supposed to be 36mg nic and I set everything up for 12 - 14 nic strength, so?

Exactly !!! its much easier to add a bit more than to try to take it away. I usually mix at about 20-25% depending on the mix. some tobacco flavors are very, very strong and only need a couple of drops.

I've highlighted the items I use most often when mixing. the 3ml bottles are the most helpful for mixing small amounts. as far as the kit....sounds like a good combination of items, you may find you won't need some of it. but that part is up to you. Currently I use 100mg/ml nicotine for mixing.....Keep in mind, Its is very toxic at this strength, then again 60mg/ml is nothing to get careless with either. Most bases, flavorings etcs come in PG. for PG/VG mixes you need to take this into account. I use the eliquid recipe manager for android on my phone. can help manage PG/VG rations, multiple flavorings etc. These 2 links are for quart size PG and VG. you can buy it by the gallon(s) for cheaper, but it is way too much and will expire before you can use it. Before investing a ton in DIY, start small and see if you like it. http://www.amazon.com/Glycerin-Vegetable-Kosher-USP-Quart/dp/B004C7MTLA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372754260&sr=8-1&keywords=usp+vegetable+glycerin http://www.amazon.com/Propylene-Glycol-Food-Grade-Quart/dp/B005PZBRUC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372754187&sr=8-1&keywords=usp+pg Hope that helps a little. give a shout out if you need more info. Tanning of liquids is perfectly normal. As things steep and age they go rather quickly. When the supplier takes the original nic filled liquid out it has been in an airtight, dark, sealed container for awhile. They hold their life really well in amber glass, but as soon as they hit large amounts of atmosphere, and light, they change quickly. The cheap plastic they are in is also NOT intended for long term freezing or storage of 1+ years. Longer than that and the compounds will most likely leach plastic.

I don't know that there is an exact answer to steeping. some flavors get better when they have had a bit of time to sit and settle. I do notice that most of my mixes change a bit after they have sit a while, sometimes better, sometimes weaker. personally, I don't worry much about steeping....I mix it to my taste and vape, if I need to touch it up later, then I add some more flavor or add something new. Change in color is not uncommon. just the flavors combining or steeping I guess. The brown color when leaking from the carto is caused by the heat from the carto...most colors darken quite a bit when heated.

So here is a question. (I can't believe I'm jumping into the DIY mix - blame Nana for this one.) In my head I can figure out how to mix the flavorings, and then aadd that at, say, 30% to my nic base. Is there a general "base" recipe if I usually vape a 70/30 mix at like 24 mg? Actually I want to go down in nic but a general idea would help. If I had that, then I could add the flavoring, figuring in that that would dilute the nic further. Right?
