I was thinking of trying the "flat" type wires, theoretically they would funnel the juice well I believe... but that's on hold until I have a paycheck coming in. Maybe the differences have to do with how tightly the outer wire is wrapped around the core as to how well it distributes the juice? (That's my story and I'm sticking to it anyway )

I've played with various "fancy" coils as well, (twisted, claptons, fused claptons, helix, etc.), and have had hit and miss results.  For instance I have used a dual twisted 26g helixed with 30g that got gunked up fairly quickly one day, but the exact same set-up, including the same mod, atty, battery and coils built the exact same way vaped like a champ with the exact same juice a different time.  Theoretically the non-traditional coils are supposed to vape better no matter what type of juice you're using because with those coils you are increasing the surface area of the wire as well as creating additional "channels" for the juice to seep down into, thus permitting a more efficient vaporizing of the liquid.  Like I said, though, it always seems to be hit and miss.

    Dunc23,
You might want to try something like this that has a large variety of coils so you can experiment. What vapes well for me is going to be different for you since no two people vape exactly the same. You can order these online. I know you can get them here  I looked in the Vapor Talk Store but they don't have them, but @Christopher works very hard to get things forum members need or want. The VT store also offers free shipping so it's always a great place to look first.

Thanks @Christopher I've seen them but never bought one. I like plain old boring stainless coils. I had a couple of twisted coils given to me and learned to build them for fun but they get gunked up too quickly with the thick dark dessert flavors I love.

Neat! A wheel of fortune for coils. I haven't actually seen this before, I'll see if I can't track down the vendor

    Greetings Dunc,
It looks like there are several things you need explained so I hope this helps you out.  I realize you are simply looking to buy premade coils, so I'll try not to go into too much theory and explanation on how to actually build coils.
First, let's take a look at gauge.  Gauge is one of the ways the thickness of wire is measured, although it can also be measure in millimeters or fractions of inches.  Gauge is typically the easiest to remember when first starting out with coils, though.  The lower the gauge, the thicker the wire.  Some common thicknesses or gauges are 20, 22, 24, 26 and 28, although there are gauges that are thicker (lower than 20 in numbering) and gauges that are much thinner (higher than 28 in numbering).  The gauge, or thickness, ultimately plays a role in how many wraps are needed for a coil to hit a desired ohm level.
Now, while I said wire can also be measured in mm (or fractions of an inch), 2.5mm would be very thick wire and would not be used for vaping.  In this case, the 2.5mm refers to the inside diameter of the coil. Coils are typically wrapped around some sort of hard, round tool, such as a screwdriver, drill bit or a coil jig.  Common measurements are 2.5mm and 3mm, although I have seen coils as small as .5mm (I don't think I've seen any larger than 3mm).  The inside diameter also plays a role in the ohm rating of a coil.
As I'm sure you have already figured out, a Clapton coil is just a type of coil.  In it's most basic form, a Clapton coil is a piece of wire of one thickness used as a core with a another wire wrapped around it. Most often the wire that is wrapped is of a smaller diameter or higher gauge than the core.  Hive coils, Tiger Wire coils, Alien Claptons, Fused Claptons...the list goes on...are just variations of coils.  Basically, if you want to run a single coil on the new Avocado 24 (yes, it does exist) I would recommend starting with a basic Clapton (for instance a 24ga + 28ga 5 wrap single coil, which will probably get you in the neighborhood of .5 ohm.
As far as where to get premade Clapton coils, I can't make recommendations because I make my own.  They do exist, though.
Last, yes...definitely get an ohm meter.  I never blindly fire even factory coils without checking them out on a meter to make sure they are actually close to what the claimed rating is.
I hope some of this helps.  If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask.  If I don't chime in, I'm sure someone else will.

So it's been awhile I thought I'd drop some info I've acquired over the last few months...
Still love my cuboid, but recently started running into a 510 problem... I don't want to tear it apart and all the quick fixes online said put a business card under your tank to act as a spacer, I found a better solution, and made a video about it.

About the time I was having that issue, I decided to pull the trigger on a new setup... I ponied up and went thru vapenw.com (thanks to the guys up here that clued me into that site!) and got the rx 2/3 and tfv8.

You'll remember my old threads about the tfv4 and coils not lasting long, so I hope this is better. Gotta say so far I'm impressed. I'm still running the pre-installed coil (I want to say it's the octuple but could be wrong, my mind is a bit scattered as it's been a really bad week and a half) and have no complaints, it's knocking on 1k puffs and still going strong. I'm not in it for the clouds but for flavor and so far it slays it on both fronts. I love my triforce's and this is every bit as good. (so far) Now if they would just make a 30mm version I'd ****** that up. lol

rx 2/3, well I'm in love. My cuboid is quite jealous. I love that you can put your own logo on the screen. Solid upgrade to the rx200.

Anyhow hope all is well with ya'all! In the last week and a half here I've had my plumbing go tango uniform, and replaced it all myself, (I don't recommend, playing in poo pipe is not fun) my house ac fan motor crap out, my window unit ac for my bedroom puke water all over the new carpet, the hot water tank blow up, the honduh break down, then to top it off the honduh was stolen last night. (bye bye 1k worth of work I had just done to it)
Anyhow if nothing else if there is anyone considering the rx200s or rx 2/3 go for it. If you liked the rx200, you'll love the 200s and 2/3

Edna got a reaction from Dunc23 in Coilart Azeroth rdta or avocado 24??
    Hi Dunc23,
    Welcome to Vapor Talk!
There are a lot of great people on this forum, who I'm sure can help you. I have never used the Azeroth so I can't comment if it's better or not. I do however love my Avocado 24 and use only single coils. I like using both hand wrapped and premade coils. I prefer  0.3ohm stainless steel coils for flavor and  my juice is a 70vg/30pg ratio.  I get both great flavored vapor and good clouds though I don't "cloud chase". I have run 2 coils but find that it wasn't any better and in fact I didn't like it that much. Twisted coils and claptons do offer different options but I haven't used them too much so I can't really give you an informed opinion sorry.
For your wraps and such,  I think the  Steam Engine  tool  will help you determine what will work best for you.
I'm sure that some one will chime in that knows a lot more than I do and you'll get great advice.

If it were me, I'd buy whichever was cheaper, because you can't really go wrong with either

That lasts long and I can run in a few different mods. I basically use an Invader mini with a subtank mini in TC 28W and a subox mini with subtank mini 30W as my all day mods. I do tend to chain vape a bit  and Im going thru 4-5 batts in a 16hr day. Whats a good batt that will last ??

The Sigelei 150tc is a 150w dual 18650 device capable of Wattage mode and Joule(temp control) mode.Wattage on this device ranges from 10w-150w.Joule mode ranges from 10j-100j.Output voltage is 1.0v-7.5v and input voltage is 6.4v-8.4v.Temp ranges from 100-300 degrees •C/212-572•F.Atomizer resistance is 0.1ohms - 3.0ohms.Max current is 35A.Dimensions are 103x57x25mm and weighs 190g.Low voltage protection,Low resistance protection, input high voltage warning,Output short circuit protection, reverse battery protection,Overheating prevention as well. The texture on the Sigelei 150TC is really nice with a rubbery type feel.proper battery venting.Buttons are nice and clicky.Nice bright screen displays all the info you need, ohms, voltage, wattage and battery life.Spring loaded 510 everything I have put on this has sat nice and flush. It did come with a clear silicone sleeve also. The only con I have found with this device is the battery door.Although they are held on by magnets they aren't strong enough to keep it on the device very well so unintentionally the door can come off if you don't use the silicone sleeve.Besides that it works very well and does what it advertises. My honest opinions on this device are good but not amazing .i would give this a 7 out of 10 rating IMO.Thanks guys! Go check out GearBest's subforum on the main VaporTalk page! This was sent to me from GearBest for the purposes of this review.

What happened? Did your current mod stop working?
Around here we stress getting lots of back ups of everything. And back ups of back ups. And back ups of those. Seriously, you can never have too many. You'll be glad you did when something goes sideways with three (or more) batteries and/or tanks, coils, etc. Most of us on here have had it happen, but many of us had enough spares to get us through.

Greeting Chinis.  Welcome to VT and congrats on getting off the analogs.
To answer the first of your questions, yes, that mod will work with the Arctic tank and .5 ohm coils.  The minimum 0.2 ohms you see simply means that is the lowest that mod can fire.  There are some tanks out there that use coils that are less than .2 ohms (for example the TFV8 has .15 ohm coils).
Would it be worth the money is a much more difficult question to answer because so much about vaping is subjective and is really dependent upon each individual person's vaping style and preferences.  The best answer would be to answer your question with a question: Is it worth it to you?  I haven't used it, but I haven't heard anything negative about the mod.  For the price, unless you have your heart set on purchasing from that specific B&M or there is another reason you can't wait for a few days, you can get it online with an extra battery AND shipping for less money.  Extra batteries are never a bad thing.
To answer that second question purely from my point of view no, it wouldn't be worth it.  Even when I was a brand new vaper, as soon as I wanted to graduate from my starter kit to something more advanced, I wanted to go with something that provided me with what I wanted immediately, but also left me with room to grow even if I never ended up vaping at more than 20 available watts.  I wanted the option there.
I would also steer clear because of the proprietary battery.  Granted, it is replaceable (unlike many mods with built in batteries) and you can buy extra batteries all day long, but at $23 Canadian per battery, I would rather go with something that uses one or two (or even three) 18650 batteries and offers room to grow.  Again, that is me.  There are plenty of people who never vape higher than 20 watts let alone 50 watts and there are people who are perfectly content with having mods that allow them to plug in a micro USB cable and charge it.  They don't want to have to fidget with external batteries, battery chargers, ensuring batteries stay together, etc. and that is 100% perfectly acceptable.  That's one of the many beautiful things about vaping (aside from providing many of us an alternative way to get our nicotine that doesn't involve combustible tobacco, questionable medication, gum that causes heartburn, lozenges that taste bad or patches that irritate skin).  There is virtually an endless number of options available to suit every vaper's personal taste.

    Hi Gunny,
I get my premamde coils from here but there are a ton of other places where you can get them online. I have to say that Fasttech has great prices and so far all the  coils I have bought have been spot on ohm wise and are a constant size and good in performance, I like them. They're just very very slow in delivery.
I would try your local vape shop or  I know that Central Vapor sells some. It's really not that hard to wind coils but you need at minimum an ohm meter, jig and ceramic tweezers. I watched a lot of youtube videos and learned a lot. Also tools for measuring resistance, ohms  and such  as using steam engine . is VERY useful
