Now that I'm back in an office (not working from home), I have had LOTS of opportunities to talk to even more people about vaping!

One of my co-workers had tried vaping a while back, and basically started out with an over-priced eGo from a smoke-shop... no support, no knowledge, and obviously gave it up rather quickly...   She was asking about what I used, and what would be good for her to get started again.  She wasn't really wanting to spend another $100 and get nothing out of it, so I set her up with one of my iStick 20W and a KPT2 as a loaner.  I went with her on lunch today and helped her pick out a juice at the local vape shop, which fortunately was only a couple blocks from the office.

I showed her how to adjust the Voltage / Wattage, disassemble the tank, fill the tank, change the coils, etc., and I also gave her a handful of coils I had re-built @ 2.2 Ohm (which are perfect for the iSticks!).

Well, she just sent me an email, asking if I would sell her the iStick and tank, because she doesn't want to give them back   She's hooked!

She also wants me to go back with her tomorrow, so she can buy another battery and more tanks/coils/juice.

I told her the blue iStick and KPT2 would be my gift to her, and I had a silver one I'd sell her for what I paid for it (from the VT store), to save her some $ over retail....  So, I guess tomorrow we'll be off to the vape shop again for more juice and additional tank shopping, lol.

I think I'm nearly as excited as she is

Comp. Thanks you have gone the extra mile at every turn. Its clear why you are so well respected here. Thank you.

Tam, I will look into other sources. You are always helpful. Thanks.

Johnny, It has been suggested and I have tried all the settings. I find lower voltage helps and more air is worse. Thanks for the reply.

Mirage, I have also found I can handle a little more power after I been in the garage with Mr, Bacardi fer a while.

I am down to 4-5 analogs a day from 20...so thats huge. Thanks everyone who replied.

Maybe not so much "fear" as there is a general "dread." We get new vapers (more than less these past few months), who try to fly a jet before they know how to ride a bicycle (and they don't even know how to check the air pressure in the tires). Little to no research done prior to diving straight into RDAs and coil building with no knowledge at all of Ohm's Law or battery safety. You name it, we've seen it... although there are a couple who take us by pleasant surprise who come on here and do their research to learn all they can. The latter are fairly rare, but we tend to hang onto those with both hands.

With the former new vapers, we try to give them solid advice (in the simplest terms possible) to keep them as safe as we can.You could call us their "training wheels." In the beginning there's a lot to learn about vaping, juices, coils, coil resistances, etc. We try not to overwhelm them with too much information until... later... when we take the training wheels off.

Dirty, I was speaking in general about that. I tend to do as you, as much as possible. The best thing IMO we can do for new vapers is to get them engaged in it and help them make good choices. Not only cost wise, but quality and performance as well.

Like it or not, any new vaper, on any forum will be "interviewed" to gauge the knowledge and experience level by the members. Hopefully it's done in a pleasant way, but at least here it's in the best interest of the person in need of help. We all know that whatever we started with it was a strange new world. When you don't know what you don't know it's a bit scary.

We also like to stress safety in all aspects of vaping. And yes, I have some common sense, and I'm not afraid to use it.

I obviously agree with caution of unknown or little-known products. Hard to argue with common sense, Tam! Before you buy, research, research, research!!

Along the same lines, I would have equal caution of unknown mech or vv/vw mods. You never know what might end up having erratic discharge properties or something.

I am honestly pretty amazed at the nature of this thread. If people purchase crap hardware that doesn't stop charging when optimal voltage is reached (and preferably also switch to a maintenance trickle), that is the fault of the hardware more than it is any danger factor of batteries. Same goes for crap batteries.

Of the billions (drastic understatement) of mobile devices containing litihum ion that have been sold, what percentage have detonated? Wouldn't it be a more pertinent point to stress the importance of using high-quality charging device and reputable battery manufacturer?

I am likely to get bashed for my perspective, but it is my opinion and I stand by it...No offense meant to anyone with alternate points of view.

So i have been a smoker for about 13 years. It was hard to believe it when I first realized that! I recently had my first child and said I would quit when he was born. I found myself smoking in the parking lot of the hospital. I then told myself I would quit smoking on my 30th birthday (several months later). I was semi-successful, but found myself substituting with snus. I wasn't smoking much at home, but I would smoke at least a pack a day when at work. I have a stressful job and I am in a car a lot, both are smoking triggers!

In the past I tried the Blu's and other comparable ecigs. Not much help. I also bought an ego. It didnt help me at the time. I was semi committed to quitting, but i tried to mimic smoking with tobacco flavored juice. I found out quickly that NO juice can replicate smoking a cig.

So i continued to smoke. I tried to quit again using Snus, using my son as the reason. My Snus use increased, and I was down to a pack a month.

But, in my stressful job, and driving all the time, it wasn't hard for a co-worker to bum me a smoke. I also made an excuse saying that I could buy just one pack a month.

Anyway, this is getting longer that I wanted! I purchased an Evod 2 starter kit with two juices... Gummy bear and tobacco. The tobacco didn't taste like smoking and the gummy bear was tasty! I thought to myself, perhaps i need to find something better than smoking, instead of trying to find an equal replacement.

I then ordered 3 flavors from Fandora... PBFB, Fruity Tootie,, and Hydra Delight. I also went to the local shop and purchased a few new tanks to hold the new juice (mini protank 3's)

The PBFB was purchased due to all of the great reviews on this site. When I opened it, I could smell the peanut butter. I tried it, and it definitely tasted like the description! It was good, but I have never been a desert person. The more I used it, the more I liked it. I always felt like I needed to be sitting with a glass of milk though!

I then tried the tootie fruity. I was hooked! It was great! This was my kinda flavor! It has subtle changes and a hint of cream.

I then went to the store to get one more tank to try the hydra delight. They didnt have anymore Tanks that would use the same coil that the Protank used. I went home and rinsed the tank out that used to hold the tobacco flavor. I couldn't get rid of the tobacco flavors smell until i boiled the tank for 7 minutes.

I filled it with the hydra delight from fandora. Holy Crap! This is delicious! This is by far the best tasting juice i have had.

I like my variety, but i have to make sure i get some more Hydra Delight!

I just wanted to share my experience. If you are a smoker, don't try to duplicate the flavor with vapor. You can get even better results vapin, but nothing mimics it.

I don't like hearing that you were disappointed in PBFB. I know taste is subjective and not everyone is going to like some flavors. Please let me send you a few other flavor samples to make up for it. I know it would make me feel better to do this. Please PM me about it. It may be that you just don't care for that flavor and I would like to share some others with you that you may like better.

Thank you all for the help, support and friendship! I have learned so much from all of you and have a acquired several new "tools" to help me make this a success. The first year in over 30 years I haven't smoked.

    Here's to year 2!!

The reason why it wasn't in the jargon for noobs post is that these came out long after that post was put up. It should probably be updated.

DirtyBoot reacted to Earthling789 in Device Compatibility With Batteries of Various mAh
The mAh ratings are listings of capacity (use between charges), and have basically no relationship to "safety". 18650 batteries can be found in different chemistry, and each has their use, discharge rate, capacity, etc...

    Here's the Cliff's Notes version

If you want long-life between charges, go for higher mAh ratings. One of the downsides to maximizing your mAh is you tend to limit your discharge ratings (peak and continuous Amperage discharge). THIS is where safety is gained/lost. If you are building coils or using devices 1 Ohm or higher, there is little cause for concern on the Amp rating of your batteries, as the majority of the ones on the market can handle loads down to 1 Ohm. When you move to sub-ohm builds/devices, where your resistance is 0.2 Ohms @ 4.2V (for example), your battery needs to be rated to handle a minimum of 21A. So, for sub-ohming, you want to maximize your Amp-rating first, and then try to find the highest mAh for your needs (for longevity between charges).
