  1. Good to know on the VTR... I don't have one yet, but plan to get one in a few months (maybe/hopefully). Based on this info, I think it would be a good idea to hang onto my remaining 2.2 Ohm coils, at least until I start building my own. BTW, I just test-fit a single-coil with my freshly cleaned PT3 Mini... it does NOT work . The silicone "cap" over the wick/coil is too short to reach/seal the center-tube... would be a leakage disaster had I filled it.... So, looks like I'll need to keep a box or two of 1.5 Ohm dual-coils handy for my PT3 Minis! Thanks for all the input, everyone... I'll be placing an order for 1.8 Ohm single-coils, and 1.5 Ohm dual-coils, within the next week or two.
  2. Better find some wood to knock on... I see you making use of those 10 replacements real soon
  3. Yeah, that was my plan... a box of 50 from online vendors range from 60-90-cents each, whereas my local B&M sells them for $12 + tax for a box of FIVE (which is $120 for 50 coils) So, can I use the single-coils in the PT3 Mini? Or, will I need to keep a few dual-coils around, too?
  4. Sadly, even "good" equipment can fail, too, but not as fast, often, or violently as the cheap-o's. This is the one thing that does bother me about my eGo chargers... both have brand-markings, both have model numbers, but neither have UL certification... as is the case with MOST things from China. This is why I only charge them when I can watch them, check them often for heat build-up, and plug them into a protected outlet using a UL certified 120V AC > 5V DC @ 1A USB adapter (not my PC's USB port). I have also considered building my own "charging cage" for them as an extra precaution.... feeding voltage to a self-contained, shielded, protected, and insulated charging "box"... so if something shorts or blows-up, the risk will be minimized.
  5. I still have more than a dozen coils for my Kanger tanks (different resistance, singles, and duals), but I have four or fewer of any single form/resistance left. So, right now I'm trying to narrow down what to buy in bulk, before I run out, which will keep me happy, AND keep me from having to keep up with 4-5 different coils. Right now, I'm liking the 1.8 Ohm single coils, and the 2.2 Ohm aren't bad at all, but use my battery faster because I have to run higher Wattage for them. I saw no advantage with the 2.5 Ohm coil, and haven't tried the 1.5 Ohm coils. So, I'm thinking 1.8 Ohm will be my choice for a single-coil.... For my dual coils... the 1.5 Ohm are better on battery life (and work better with my PT3 Minis on an eGo), but the the 2.0 Ohm seem to give a slightly better vape with my AeroTank, despite higher drain on the battery? (I've not tried 1.8 Ohm duals). Now, I understand that I can use the single-coil in my AeroTank, right? Can I use a single-coil in my PT3 minis? I've not tried it yet... didn't want to risk catastrophic leakage I have no issues with keeping up with single/dual coils, but I don't feel it necessary to try to keep up with a box of each resistance AND each form-factor. I primarily use my larger tanks (KPT2/AeroTank) with my MVP 2.0, and my Mini KPT2's and KPT3's with my eGo-style batteries for portability / form-factor. So, If I can use single-coils with my PT3 Minis, I think I'll be satisfied with running 1.8 Ohm single-coils in all my tanks. If I have to use dual-coils with the PT3 Mini, that's cool, too. I'll just keep a box or two 1.5 Ohm dual-coils on hand? Is my logic sound? Is there an advantage to using a 2.2 Ohm single over the 1.8 Ohm that I'm missing? Or should I just stock-up on the 1.8 Ohm singles (and 1.5 Ohm duals, if I can't use singles in the PT3 Mini)?
  6. I was not a fan of the iClear 30 tank that came with my MVP 2.0, but that's just my opinion... I primarily use Kanger's ProTank2 and AeroTank on my MVP and have no complaints with their function or performance. I can't comment on the others, because I don't own them, lol...
  7. Troy brings up a good point, and I totally agree that the volume you smoked per day will also affect it your e-juice nicotine-level needs. Obviously, you were getting more nicotine as a 2-pack-a-day smoker of Camel unfiltered, than a 1/2 pack Marlboro Ultra-lights. How you smoke(d) makes a difference in how much nicotine your body was actually receiving: Did you take full lung hits, puffs, or let them burn in the ashtray? Did you smoke 100's, 110's, 120's? Did you burn them to the filter, or snub them out at the half-way point? But, I think what everyone is trying to say is that these are starting-point suggestions, because there is NO correlation-chart that says "you smoked 18 cigarettes of brand-X @ Y-strength, so you should have 2.9-ml per day of 16.4mg strength nicotine e-juice". It's not an exact science, and your individual needs/tastes will vary... which is part of the fun
  8. Personally, I still draw in to the mouth for a good mouthful, then continue the inhale with "air" to "wash it down"... much like I smoked analogs. One thing affecting your throat-hit is the pg %. Higher pg give a harder throat-hit (and drier throat). Higher vg content give more vapor. Coil resistance and wattages/voltage combos will affect this as well. But I've no clue why you get more vapor by taking a straight inhale, compared to mouth-first... unless your inhale hit is longer and stronger (more volume) as a whole, by comparison? I mean, your mouth is only so big, compared to your lung-capacity, right?
  9. I agree... I would never live in NY or CA... and I'm not really a fan of any of the nanny-states on the East or West coast... (or upper IL) I think what bothers me more than anything is the stupidity and arrogance of the "council" to set regulations on something they are not experts on, nor do they have any hard, empirical evidence to prove / support their actions. This is the number one problem with our politicians... STOP TRYING TO BE MY MOMMY! And if I hear one more time... "for the kids"... I may have to go back to strangling hookers
  10. 18 would be a good start... but some people need to start higher, say, 24mg... The consensus is normally as follows: 24mg = Full flavor cigarettes/cigars (Marlboro Red, Camel, Swisher-sweets, etc) 18mg = Lights 12mg = Ultra Lights 6mg = Super Ultra Lights 0mg = Kinda obvious If 24mg is too much, but 18 is too little, buy the same juice in 24mg and 18mg and mix them 1:1 (or blend flavors in the same manner) to get ~21mg of nicotine. I smoked standard cigars, which were high in nicotine content, but found that 24mg was too high for me in e-juice. 18mg seems to be just right... and in some juices, I even have to cut the 18's down with lower nic levels or they give me a headache (buzz).
  11. Beat me to it... just checked my email and came here to post the call to action
  12. To the OP... I understand your concerns for their safety, but I'm not sure I'd go the route of a safe, unless I had the need for one for my stocks, bonds, loose cash, and jewelry (not that I have any of those things, lol). But, if you want a reasonably secure "box", you might invest in a fire-proof document box... they lock, and nobody would think twice about one on the shelf. I do have a couple of those in the house... for deeds, titles, marriage/birth certificates, etc. Another option which would be inconspicuous would be a "money box"... cheap lock, yes, but still a lock.... and your juices would probably fit "upright" in it, to prevent any leakage from bad lids. Toss it in the closet, kitchen cabinet, or on a shelf and nobody would probably even notice it? One constant in the universe is that "locks keep honest people honest, but never stop the determined"... and sometimes a locked box/cabinet only piques curiosity.... like hanging a neon sign.... I have teens in and out of my house too... my e-juice is on the shelf in my office, batteries on my desk, and even the liquor is unlocked (but in a cabinet out of the way of prying eyes)... Nobody has ever attempted to bother them. Then again, this is Kentucky... and we tend to leave shotguns on the kitchen table here too, I guess I've got good kids (and their friends). They don't bother my guns (but know how to use them), drink my liquor, smoke my cigars (when I had them around), and they don't bother my e-cigs/e-juices.... They'd rather spend their on the computer, Xbox, PS3, or phone
  13. You guys are selling me on the spinners... I don't have the need for any eGo style batteries at the moment, but once my current fleet of four start to die off, I'll probably be replacing them with Spinners!
  14. Yeah, I've looked at the skins... but to me, it's like buying a car... and they only offer [insert color here] as a base color, BUT, for a small fee, you can wrap it in vinyl and change the color... I'd much rather have a base-color I can live with, rather than a "sticker" (at additional cost).
  15. I've got the Titanium Blue MVP... LOVE IT... and if they do the VTR in the same satin-finish and color... I'd be all over it! I think the little bit of shiny chrome verticals, matched-up with that color would really look awesome!
  16. In my job, I've learned that no matter how many times you explain something, there will always be someone that will ask the question you just answered It's just human nature, and I guess I've just gotten numb to it, and will answer it anyway. I figure, if they are asking "now", at least they'll listen to the answer this time (hopefully) I'd be happy to lend you a hand organizing it up... I've done a LOT of Technical Writing and SOP for gov't and corporate manuals... While I may not have the knowledge of a guru, I can hopefully contribute a little anyway Let me know...
  17. First off... Kudos for ingenuity and perseverance... Now, when you said "grinder", it made me start thinking... You only have to expand the diameter by a millimeter or so, right? How about using a brake-cylinder hone? Granted, it would be a slower method of removing that much material, but it would obtain perfect symmetry when enlarging the ring. Pop a course-hone on your drill or drill-press, use a little cutting-lube or light-oil, and let the drill do the work.... switch to a fine-hone or buffing wheel and put a shine back to the ring when you've reached the proper diameter.... Two or three spinning hones, evenly cutting under spring-pressure, at the same time... would sure make the job easy and you wouldn't have to worry about symmetry, cutting too deep/uneven, or scratches if your grinder slips... Just a thought for anyone else wanting to expand the ring for a Nautilus (or larger tank)....
  18. I know the VTR is fairly new to the line-up from Innokin, but you'd think they would have more color options than Jungle Green or (fingerprint magnet) Chrome/steel... I think I'd be more apt to drop $ on one if they offered them in the same Satin-finish Titanium Blue or Brushed-look Black, like the MVP. I guess my biggest complaint is that I'm not a fan of green, nor do I like things that have a mirror finish ... my OCD would have me shining it more than using it I know you can get wraps for them, but I've never been a fan of "cutesie" (pronounced "tacky") vinyl stickers covering my new toys, lol I sent an email to Innokin last week, asking about future color options, but as per my expectations, I've not gotten a response yet... Does anybody else feel the same way about the lack of color options? Anyone have any insight as to when (or if) Innokin will offer up more options on the VTR?
  19. THAT is the hardest part... But, once you make that decision, you'll be happy (for a while, lol) Seriously, you've got the bug
  20. Stickies are good... and I agree that some could use an update, and I like the Quick-Start Guide idea Search is an underused tool (although I'm guilty of not digging too deep in the searches, too)... And points #4 and #5 seem to be an issue lately, don't they (not just on the forum)? Noob's chasing huge clouds is not something new though... just like guys who drop $15K on a fancy, over-powered sport-bike (without learning how to ride first) with the sole purpose of popping wheelies and doing 'stoppies' because they look cool on youtube "SQUIDs", in the bike-world... And when one of them gets hurt doing something stupid... they give the rest of us a bad reputation...
  21. My MVP 2.0 stays mated with one of my KPT2's or my AeorTank... and that stays at home (which is also where I work). When I go out, I carry one (or two) of my eGo-T's and one (or two) of my PT2 minis or PT3 minis (depending on mood and what's clean, loaded, and ready). Two eGos, two tanks, and some spare juice can carry me through a weekend camping trip with my Scouts... although I took four batteries last weekend to make sure I didn't fall short if one failed
  22. Sorry, I said that backwards... I meant 30/70... 70% VG were hard on the coils and gave me dry hits with my Kanger tanks... which is why 80% of that bottle is on the shelf (until I can mix it with some 70/30 in a complimentary flavor to thin it out to 50/50).
  23. Ordered three AeroBases on Monday... two for my PT2's, and a spare... Got a good deal on them... basically buy two, get one free
  24. Welcome! Perhaps you can pass along what you've learned too... insights and experience are always welcome...
  25. Welcome... I think many of us started out on the disposable cig-alikes... Now you'll have more choices and won't be wasting $5-6 on a one-day battery with a couple of decent hits
