    AW is considered to be the premier battery maker (you certainly will pay premium prices). I've got nothing bad to say about them except they are expensive and the 18650's mAh rating, although accurate is too low.

    The high drain LiMN.

    The Li-Ion.

    Do note the larger Li-Ions have no 'button' top, for some devices you may need a spacer (small magnet)

    Do note with 14500's the high drain LiMN's make some sense, as standard Li-Ions here can not keep up with the current demands of even a standard Joye atty (they are being pushed past their max discharge rating, stressed). And with 14500's for some reason, vape times are very similar.

    FWIW TrustFires in general are better that UltraFires.

    These are very good for budget vapers, The reviews are positive and they have been tested and are in fact true 2400mAh cells.

    Nice price too.

    We built a kennel for our big dog (for when we're away at work etc) and tossed in his favorite vinyl reclyner. After a week he had it torn up just right and he's been the happiest kenneler this side of the Rockies. He hardly ever uses his igloo doghouse that's filled with soft shavings so naturally we gave him hubby's old winter coat to snuggle with on the reclyner. I'm surprised he hasn't asked for an xbox yet.

    The only thing I don't like about them is their short vape times. Most 18650 Li-Ions can easily handle a 2.5A drain which covers almost any atty. A standard Joye510, for example pulls maybe 1.8A.

    Take a peak at this 2A drain test.

    Look how quickly the AW IMR drops off (bottom, green), then look at the standard AW Li-Ion (top, black) and how much longer it maintains a higher voltage. In general the AW Li-Ions capacity is about 60% greater.

    One reason to put up with the bulk of an 18650 is for large capacity and long vape times.

    Another thing to note is the poor showing of the often used red/white UltraFire 3000mAh batteries (brown line). Although they last a bit their heavy and quick voltage drop is unacceptable. Avoid them.

    you need a lipo charger.

    you can actually catch any cell on fire
    1) WAY over charged the cell and leaving it unattended in a cheapo charger.
    2) Combining good cells with junk cells in a high drain application
    3) Combining cells that have a very low charge with cells that have a very high charge, in a high drain application
    4) Short circuiting the cell.
    5) discharge them very quickly
    if you see someone that has caught fire or exploded a cell, assume that they have done one of the above.

    not to say that the protected circut couldn't have gone bad.. but when buying a mod you should also be very aware at what details your charger has behind it. what your batteries are charged to when taken off the charger. among other things.

    high drain is a good idea for that "in case" situation. we are in no way doing high drain on a tiny atty/carto though.

    i have no idea where these people come up with such wild ideas but it gets a tad annoying to hear.
    years and years of flashlight modding to put out intense beams of light that can burn plastic, set fire to wood, blinding people from far distances have been done with good old li-ion. stacking 18650 batteries and draining them in a matter of 3 mins from full charge, yet i'm to believe that a rinky-dink atty/carto that takes 1-2 days to drain a single or stacked 14500 is going to need a high drain battery? please!

    are they needed, no. is the chemical make up safer, yes.

    sorry about the rant but just had to get that out. been reading to many threads about li-ion issues and the wild crap people say.

    Let me add my 2¢, for any other members ready to take the plunge.

    These PT's are chintzy devices made with the cheapest components available. They have nothing in them that could possibly protect either the atty or the device that they are plugged into in case of a short. Hopefully your game consoles and computers can quickly deal with a dead short or stuck on button. As a long time PT user abuse is inevitable. They get yanked, dropped, stepped on etc. and the one you buy today may well be different than tomorrows.

    That one person has declared the 'universal fitness' of them as safe, should be considered with a grain of salt.

    The various e-cig forums are strewn with horror stories concerning PT damage to expensive equipment, even with the more expensive PTs that purport to have various electronic safeguards built in.

    Buy a $10 AC/DC USB 2000mA adapter, not only to save you equipment but you'll also get better performance.

    For Nicotine, I like to buy a bottle of let's say 24mg and a bottle of 0mg of the same flavor. That way I don't lose any flavor when I dilute it.

    For PG/VG, I like to purchase mine at 80%pg/20vg. Pg has the flavor, VG has the vapor, so I like the mix. At first, I started out with a bottle of pg and a bottle of vg (both the same flavor, both the same nic strength) and experimented until I found the mix that most satisfied me. (need an extra empty bottle of course). I knew my nic strength from previously diluting my nic strengths as mentioned.

    Some folks like 50/50pg/vg some like 90/10... etc.

    Happy Vaping!

    What a wonderful story!! Thanks for sharing that with us. I've never had any intention of quitting vaping at all. I just substituted it for smoking and couldn't be any happier about that. I vape at least as much - if not more - than I smoked, but I'm okay with that. I bounce around between 0mg nic and 6mg nic most of the time, but sometimes go as high as 12. I'm pretty sure I don't vape for the nic anymore, but for the pure pleasure I get from it. I don't know if I could completely or not. But if I ever wanted to, I know it would be a lot easier than it ever was when I tried to quit smoking before.

    I don't know if anyone else has tried this yet, I just gave it a try today to see if it would fit.
    The Ego mega cartomizers, the 2.5ml ones with the skirt, will work on the VT/PT. I have one of those brass colored adapters on my pt so I can use 510's and while I was using one of the Boge carto's I got to wondering if the mega's would work. Sure enough, it fit right down over the adapter and connected just fine to the contact. So I was vaping with my VT/PT using a mega carto filled with VT Exotic. Not a bad way to go. It is a little stronger throat hit of course and a much warmer vapor, but if you find a juice you really like you can give this a try.
    Tell me what you think of it. TKS.

    It's time for electronics 101, and how it applies to PVs.

    Current flow (measured in amps) is the movement of electrons through a conductor. These electrons are sent out by the power source (volts) to act as the workers, and resistance (measured in ohms) is in the path of current flow and will slow the electrons (workers) down. Power (measured in watts) is the measurement of work being performed in the circuit, and will always manifest itself in the form of heat (doesn't that sound like heating up an atomizer to you?). Of course too much heat (power/watts) will pop the atty.

    Now for the math, and I promise it's not that complicated:

    A physicist by the name of George Simon Ohm discovered that there is a tight relationship between voltage, current, and resistance. This relationship can be described and predicted by mathematics, which has become known as "Ohm's Law". The basic statement of this relationship is that voltage and current are directly proportional (when we increase voltage, current will increase as well), and that current and resistance are inversely proportional (when we increase resistance, current will decrease).
    Voltage = current multiplied by resistance
    Current = voltage divided by resistance
    Resistance = voltage divided by current
    Power = voltage multiplied by current

    Now let's apply Ohm's Law to a PV:

    A 3.7v device with a standard atty;
    Voltage 3.7v divided by an atty that is 3ohms = 1.23amps
    The heat produced by this is determined by the power in watts which is 3.7v multiplied by 1.23amps = 4.563watts
    We know this works, and we can use these numbers to compare the performance of the other combinations.

    A 3.7v device with a LR atty;
    3.7v / 1.5ohms = 2.46amps
    3.7v * 2.46amps = 9.126watts (remember, this is the heat)

    A 5v device with a standard atty;
    5v / 3ohms = 1.66amps
    5v * 1.66amps = 8.33watts (remember, this is the heat)

    A 5v device with a LR atty;
    5v / 1.5ohms = 3.33amps
    5v * 3.33amps = 16.66watts (remember, this is the heat.....POP)

    A 6v device with a standard atty;
    6v / 3ohms = 2amps
    6v * 2amps = 12watts (remember, this is the heat...on the bourder of POP)

    A 6v device with a HV atty;
    6v / 4.3ohms = 1.395amps
    6v * 1.395amps = 8.372watts (remember, this is the heat....is this really any better than a standard atty at 5v?)

    My ohm values for the attys are approximate, but you get the picture. This really answers all the questions "will this work with this?", "will that work with that?". I also think that anyone dabbling in making their own mods should understand these basics when choosing components that will work well together, and avoid injury.

    I don't know anything about the crown lion, but I got the same story with the first PV I bought - about the cartridges being equivalent to 2 packs of smokes. I quickly found out how wrong that was. It might be closer to 5 cigarettes. Maybe. It doesn't matter which device you have, I believe you can refill the cartridges in all of them. That's what we recommend to everyone. It's much, much cheaper than buying the prefilled cartridges. And the juice that comes in the pre-filled cartridges is never very good. On the other hand, you can buy lots of different, really great tasting juices other places. Check out all of the vendors listed on this site and you'll see what I mean about the variety of juices available.

    Should be a very nice unit. Having said that, Bob brings up a point that while we all respect the desire many have to have it "feel" like an analogue, many outgrow that very quickly. The good thing about a 510 unit is the atomizers, carts, cartos, etc. are all 510 threads/sizes. So it makes moving from something that seems like an analogue to an ego or other 510 mod pretty simple, the accessories won't go to waste and the 510 batteries will be a backup in case the new unit go thud.

    This is a way over priced kit. You can get a 510 or KR808 kit for $50 or less (and this will be two full ecigs). Stay away from any vendor that claims a catridge is equal to two packs of cigarettes.

    What you're looking at is probably a KR808 model just rebranded and being sold at a crazy pirce.

    Welcome to Vapor Talk! Feel free to ask any questions.

    Brian is right. I have only used ecigs for about 3-1/2 months now and I was very fortunate to find this forum to research "the good and the not so good" brands and such. I took the advice of long time vapers here and ordered a joye 510 kit. It came with 2 complete setups, charger and 5 cartridges for $35. The parts are pretty standard purchase for the 510 too.
    Brian is right, cartridges aren't equal to a pack of cigarettes. You'll want to add liquid or change the cartridge after a few "drags". Plus, the liquid they prefill those cartridges with tastes pretty cruddy. The authentic look and feel seems to be what first time buyers look for in an ecig, but after using it for a day, that will go out the window. You'll want a long lasting battery, sturdy product, etc. over the look of it. They are all mostly too heavy to leave in your mouth like a cigarette too.
    There's just so many false claims out there, you have to be careful. My sister and niece fell for an electronic cigarette scam a few months ago, called Prada. They keep sending new supplies and charging your account, like a contract club type thing.
    Good luck and I highly recommend the advice of veteran vapers on this site.

    If you're out and about tomorrow and happen so see someone in uniform, why not walk up to them, shake their hand and thank them for their service.
    I do it all the time and they really do appreciate it. They need to know they are not just doing this for nothing.

    I didn't know if this was was appropriate for the liquid reviews section, as I am not sure it is a "review", but I just have to say (and I know this is already well known), but Geoff's blend from TV arrived today and as a noobie in the world of vaping I have found a renewed enthusiasm to stay away from analogs. This stuff is just too good; why would I want one lol!?

    My point in posting (other than to share how happy I am that after a rocky start the past couple of weeks with many bad drags and watering eyes, I now am now enjoying with every vape), and there might be something out there, but I couldn't find anything, is just to comment on the Geoff's blend with sweetness added. I had really debated on whether to add and I am happy that I decided to. It gives the vape (what I feel) is a sweet caramel inhale with a cinnamon candy finish (I also got the 10% VG for enhanced vapor).

    Well, I definately will keep trying more fun flavors, but I think this will continue to be my after meal vape ... Mmmm a yummy dessert

    I can't really comment on the mega atty's since I've never tried one. But I have just started using the mega carto's and I personally think they're pretty damn good. Especially when you're out and about. Filling them is kind of a pain at first, but once you've got it filled it will last a good long time before you need to top off again.
    I've also been using the 2.0 LR carto's by Boge and I have to tell you that they are fantastic. Great vapor, good flavor and they too last quite some time before top-off. Not as long as the mega's of course but still very long compared to regular carts. I highly recommend them. Also the regular carto's by Boge are great on a 5v unit. Again, tons of vapor and great throat hit.
    So that's my $.02 worth. Hope you find something you like.

    Good luck and happy vaping.
