My advice would be to see if you like making your own liquid first.

Start by going to Walmart and pick up a bottle of VG and an eye-dropper (both sold in the pharmacy section). Next, go to the local crafts store, and pick up a couple LorAnn's flavors (found in the bakery section...watermelon and strawberry seem to be the best starter ones).

Hopefully, you have a couple 10ml bottles laying around. Because, when you get home from your shopping trip, find a juice calculator (either online, or find an app), and mix up a couple bottles of 0 nic liquid. Flavor should be 15% of the total mix.

In all honesty, this route is much cheaper and more convenient than going to some online vendor for a custom blend, only to pay close to full market price plus shipping, and waiting a week to see if your blend even tastes ok, or needs adjustment.

If you like DIY, then you can get a good starter kit that contains everything you need to get up and running at One Stop DIY Shop online for around $30 shipped. Add $10 for the nicer kit, and a few more bucks for an extra bottle of PG or VG. At that point, you'll have enough supplies to keep you going for a couple months.

If you have the $$ then check into the HH .357 drip attys. They're a tad pricey, but they are hand-made to tight specs and will last forever if well maintained. On a side note: I love dripping!!!! After all, it is how I started vaping. I've tried just about everything...from clearos to cartos to RBAs. Hell, I even tried those old-school cartridges that came with my first kit...an experience which promptly led to dripping. Throughout all of that, I have to admit that direct dripping is still my preferred method for experiencing flavor. It's just too bad that this practice draws a lot of unwanted attention, and is highly inconvenient when behind the wheel.

Ah so we meet again. haha I have noticed the same thing. I'm only 3 months in but I have been trying out 0mg and 2mg nic. I don't need the nicotine as much as I did... But there are times where I grab some 2-4mg juice and vape on it for a few minutes... Then I go back to my original juice. I think the act of vaping more so then the nicotine satisfies me. And the clouds..... Gotta have the clouds......

For the past few days I've been doing an experiment on myself. NO NIC!!!! (insert impending doom theme music here while everybody gasps in surprise and terror) Now, since I started trying my hand at DIY a couple months ago I got in the habit of making 0mg juice to try new recipes so I do not waste precious nicotine. However, the juices I've liked, I've vaped so as not to waste precious clouds. All of a sudden, I found myself inadvertently going stretches of 6 hours or more without nic...and not missing it at all! So, I decided to go without nic for a day...then one day turned into almost a week. At this point, I am treating nic like I would caffeine. A short vaping session here and there as a pick-me-up, but nothing more as I really do not need it. This got me thinking. Is the nicotine addiction merely a leftover thought-program from being convinced by the Surgeon General throughout all these years of smoking that it (nicotine) is a "powerfully addictive substance," rather than the 4000 OTHER chemicals intentionally put into cigarettes? If not, then why are patches, gums, lozenges, and inhalers not more effective? But if it is, then why is it that vapers refuse to let go of the nic (and thereby subject themselves to FDA regulation)? Or at least dose it down, and use responsibly? All rhetoric aside, I am interested in hearing YOUR thoughts on the matter. Please discuss!!

Lately, I've been treating nicotine like I do caffeine....a little 6mg-10mg here and there while primarily vaping 0mg nic.

I couldn't agree more with that statement! I did some work for a lady one time and she proceeded to show me her 'little pet'. It was a 4-foot Iguana that she had raised since it was a baby. Well, it eventually got too big and too aggressive... and she had little kids around. So, she ended up giving it and the 120 gallon enclosure to me so she didn't have to take care of it anymore. It was quite old by then.. and all it could do in a 120g rectangular tank was lay on it's perch... but it did live for another 5-6 years with me until it finally died... just old age I think. People just don't realize how large some of these animals will end up getting... and then once they can't care properly for them they usually get pawned off on to someone else or simply not cared for properly anymore. All animals are 'cute' when they are babies... but please do your homework before you make a purchase! These critters need to be living in a place where they will be cared for to the fullest extent!

CascadianExotics got a reaction from Uma in I-Chybrid...a game changer?
Every so often, there comes along a device that could be considered a "Game-Changer." Now, I am not an e-Cig expert, nor do I play one on TV. However, in my opinion, the I-Chybrid has the potential to fit that title.

Priced at under $40, this little gem has it all. The i-Chybrid combines looks, functionality, and ease of use into a compact, light weight, and sturdy package.

    Under the Hood

The i-Chybrid is made of aircraft aluminum construction with solid brass contacts. The unit is outfitted with an attached I-ATTY, which features a Pyrex tank.

Unlike the Z-atty, which this unit is designed from, the I-ATTY is super simple to set up. The lip around the edge of the top deck can be a bit of a pain to work around, but once it has been acclimated to, the end user should have little trouble working around it.

My only complaint here is the air hole placement. Stock, the air hole is dangerously close to the top of the atomizer cover. At 1.2mm, the draw might be a bit loose for some people. For me though, I usually just cut to the chase and drill out my Gennys to 1/16th inch, which puts the bottom of the air hole just below the atomizer cover, and is subject to condensation buildup underneath.

Tinkerers take note: Later on, I'm going to try sanding the bottom of the cover to get the placement back to where it should be. If this works how I want, I will be updating this thread.

    Battery Chamber and Switch

The chamber holds a single 18350 battery, and does not have any extension tubes available. Though the i-Chybrid is well built, it is still anodized aluminum. Therefore, it is prone to scratches in the finish, and will dent if not properly stored.

The button design is a bit annoying to work around. But, the switch has a good throw, and does not require a locking ring. So, the unit can be set down without firing.

    Performance

The i-Chybrid, being constructed of aluminum is already highly conductive. Add in the brass contacts, and you have a recipe for a great vape with little voltage drop.

Using a fresh AW 18350 IMR at 4.19 volts, the i-Chybrid experiences a mere 0.38 volt drop under a 0.8 ohm load. That number compares with just about any of the high-end devices currently being sought after.

    Final Thoughts

The i-Chybrid is simply a great device. I carried it around unprotected in my pocket all day yesterday. At work, in the car, around the house, and around my neighborhood. No sign of leaking, misfires, scratches, or dents.

For under $40, you will not find a better deal anywhere. The unit comes with a bag of spare parts, a small screwdriver, a spare pre-rolled wick, and a length of coil wire. The atty also comes with a pre-installed wick and coil.

Efests are pretty much crap for anything but regulated devices. Since you're using a Zmax, there's no real need to drop twice the cash for AWs.

As for the charger. Go to Amazon and look up the Nitecore Intellicharge series. A two or four bay smart charger shouldn't cost you more than $25 shipped.

CascadianExotics got a reaction from Uma in Twisted Wire...What am I doing wrong?
If im correct in assuming, isn't twisting the Kanthal supposed to increase the gauge, and therefore decrease the overall resistance of the coil? Is the bigger surface are of the wire supposed to increase vapor output? I don't know...

After two attempts at it, I have to say that I'm not impressed. My first attempt saw my pitiful attempt at hand-twisting. It certainly lowered the resistance (0.5 ohms), but never properly made contact with the wick. Resulting in some of the worst dry-hits I've ever experienced.

So, I pulled a Tim Allen and rewired it!!! This time I used a drill...playing with power tools is always awesome, right?

    Same wrap, better twist...

....but it actually RAISED the resistance!!! 0.8 ohms (from 0.6), and very little vapor output. I'd be better off not twisting, and removing the washer mod...

So, what am I doing wrong? Or, is it behaving normally while I'm expecting a different result?

Well, it appears that the silicon seal from an AGA-T2 is a perfect replacement for the hard white plastic one in the RSST's top deck...and it stops the leaking. The positive post fits snugly through the AGA-T2 seal and prevents liquid from going through, unlike the stock RSST seal, which isn't really a seal at all, but more of an insulator only.

I went one step further and took the top washer (more of a cup, actually) from the top of a ViVi Nova head and put it under the spring so the spring's bottom coil wouldn't cut into the silicon seal. A small SS washer would've probably been better, but it's all I had on hand.

    No more leaks...yet.

After all the different types I've tried (and believe me I've tried a LOT), my favorites are the T2, Vision Nano and the new Vision Victory VT.

The T3, MT3, iClear 30, Kangor Pro Tank, EVOD... none of these did it for me and, aside from the Vision Nano, bottom feeders seem to hate me.

My main preference is direct dripping. I keep 2.0 ohm Boge atomizers, 2.0 ohm Smoktek atomizers, and 2.0 ohm Smoktek Bridgeless atomizers on hand at all times. The 306s are still a little buggy for me for some reason. Also, the Vision Eternity RDA has fast become a favorite.
