FTJoe got a reaction from kitsune in Propsed High-School Principal Speech
    Got this in my e-mail

The speech every American high-school principal should give.

(If every high-school principal gave this speech at the beginning of the next school year, America would be a better place.)

To the students and faculty of our high school:

I am your new principal, and honored to be so. There is no greater calling than to teach young people.

I would like to apprise you of some important changes coming to our school. I am making these changes, because I am convinced that most of the ideas that have dominated public education in America have worked against you, against your teachers, and against our country.

First, this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity. I could not care less if your racial makeup is black, brown, red, yellow, or white. I could not care less if your origins are African, Latin American, Asian, or European, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower or on slave ships.

The only identity I care about, the only one this school will recognize, is your individual identity — your character, your scholarship, your humanity. And the only national identity this school will care about is American. This is an American public school, and American public schools were created to make better Americans.

If you wish to affirm an ethnic, racial, or religious identity through school, you will have to go elsewhere. We will end all ethnicity-, race-, and non-American-nationality-based celebrations. They undermine the motto of America, one of its three central values — e pluribus unum, “from many, one.” And this school will be guided by America’s values.

That includes all after-school clubs. I will not authorize clubs that divide students based on any identities. This includes race, language, religion, sexual orientation, or whatever else may become in vogue in a society divided by political correctness.

Your clubs will be based on interests and passions, not blood, ethnic, racial, or other physically defined ties. Those clubs just cultivate narcissism — an unhealthy preoccupation with the self — while the purpose of education is to get you to think beyond yourself. So we will have clubs that transport you to the wonders and glories of art, music, astronomy, languages you do not already speak, carpentry, and more. If the only extracurricular activities you can imagine being interested in are those based on ethnic or racial or sexual identity, that means that little outside of yourself really interests you.

Second, I am uninterested in whether English is your native language. My only interest in terms of language is that you leave this school speaking and writing English as fluently as possible. The English language has united America’s citizens for more than 200 years, and it will unite us at this school. It is one of the indispensible reasons this country of immigrants has always come to be one country. And if you leave this school without excellent English-language skills, I will have been remiss in my duty to ensure that you are prepared to compete successfully in the American job market. We will learn other languages here — it is deplorable that most Americans only speak English — but if you want classes taught in your native language, rather than in English, this is not your school.

Third, because I regard learning as a sacred endeavor, everything in this school will reflect learning’s elevated status. This means, among other things, that you and your teachers will dress accordingly. Many people in our society dress more formally for a meal at a nice restaurant than they do for church or school. These people have their priorities backwards. Therefore, there will be a formal dress code at this school.

Fourth, no obscene language will be tolerated anywhere on this school’s property — whether in class, in the hallways, or at athletic events. If you can’t speak without using the F-word, you can’t speak. By obscene language I mean the words banned by the Federal Communications Commission, plus epithets such as the N-word, even when used by one black student to address another, or “*****,” even when addressed by a girl to a girlfriend. It is my intent that by the time you leave this school, you will be among the few of your age to distinguish instinctively between the elevated and the degraded, the holy, and the obscene.

Fifth, we will end all self-esteem programs. In this school self-esteem will be attained in only one way (the way people attained it until the state of California decided otherwise a generation ago) — by earning it. One immediate consequence is that there will be one valedictorian, not eight.

Sixth, and last, I am re-orienting the school toward academics and away from politics and propaganda. No more time will be devoted to scaring you about smoking and caffeine, or terrifying you about sexual harassment or global warming. No more semesters will be devoted to condom-wearing and teaching you to regard sexual relations as only or primarily a health issue. There will be no more attempts to convince you that you are a victim, because you are not white, or not male, or not heterosexual, or not Christian. We will have failed if any one of you graduates from this school and does not consider him or herself inordinately lucky — to be alive and to be an American.

Now, please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our country. As many of you do not know the words, your teachers will hand them out to you.

Looks like the study was on SNUS but that didn't stop them from putting e-cig in the title along with SNUS. Why not add all NRTs, nicorette, etc? Hmmmm. Basically, if I follow the convoluted logic, while these may save smokers who use them, it might prevent some smokers from quitting altogether and suffer a death as a result of these alternatives. And I quote:

First, some smokers who would otherwise be persuaded to quit - give up all nicotine use - by smoking bans and/or high taxes will instead switch to the substitute, thereby remaining at a much higher risk than if they had ended their use of nicotine entirely.

Proof there is a higher risk I believe is stated here:

For example, one major study showed an association between the use of chewing tobacco (which administers nicotine) and acute myocardial infarction that was 75% of the risk of smoking cigarettes. The Food and Drug Administration [FDA] has just warned that e-cigarettes pose "acute health risks," and that the "danger posed by the unrestricted distribution of [these] unregulated products containing toxic chemicals cannot seriously be questioned."

    Whatever...

They have a wall if you would like to state your objections/concerns.

Schiz - I have a collection of low, medium and regular resistance cartos if you want to give them a try. Also some blank medium resistance 901 cartos (Vapor4Life premium) cartos. PM me if interested, only warning is do not juice all the way up only to find you don't like cause they take a lot. Are you ego and a 5V? The cartos supposedly are really good on a 5V, shouldn't use the lower resistance on the 5V, harsh and you'll pop em. Let me know, I have no use for them and am hitting the PO tomorrow.

Okay - a little more simple, I hate to keep using wordup as an example but here is a decent list of PCC kits. No idea if they have LEDs, etc. More importantly, I have no idea of their performance except alot of us are fans of the 510.

    http://www.wordupecig.com/PCC_Kits.html

I see a BE510 kit that looks nice at the end, you can email the site to make sure it takes regular 510s. Not sure any of the 510s would be auto though in the kits. I don't think wordup sells auto 510s. Spome of the others will be auto though as they are intended to replicate a cigarette.

I posted this earlier and its a decent list of e-cigs, and some people comment on them.
    http://www.vapeatron.com/e-cigarette-models/

The manual button give more control over how long the atomizer stays lit but I believe there are tricks with an auto to get a longer/hotter hit off it, that's another drawback of auto. Start another thread if this one has become unmanageable for you.

If I find some cheap autos, I will post back to you as I am looking for one for a friend. My point about buying piecemeal was I would hate to see you get a whole PCC kit and then not like the ecig. This is a very personal experience thing and what's good for one is not for another.

Can you give me a link to a passthrough as I don't know what it is. I was looking at buying a cartomizer as a way to not drip as I was driving. I am a little confused though.

    These are passthrus.
    http://www.shop.wordupecig.com/USB-Pass-Throughs-For-All_c11.htm

There are some that are very well built, these are the "less" expensive ones. Normally an ecig uses a battery so it can be portable, but they start out great, but then lose that initial jolt quickly and go dead pretty quick. If you are able to be near a USB connection, computer, car or wall outlet, you can use one of these. Some have a battery inline, then you are using the USB connection to charge the battery and using the battery to power the ecig. I believe these can actually be unplugged and used until the battery runs out and they usually run at 3.7 volts a little more juice and more power than a regular ecig battery. The other type is a 5V. Unlike the battery powered one that only requires a trickle charge to keep the battery charged, the 5V need a decent powered USB source to drive this. They have lots more power and this is where cartomizers (I am told) really shine. To power these, I think its best to get things like this for the wall:
    http://www.madvapes.com/2-amp-AC-to-USB-Adapter-ideal-for-Passthroughs_p_2357.html

    And this for the car:
    http://www.madvapes.com/2-amp-Car-to-USB-Adapter_p_2358.html

They need to have enough juice for the 5V passthru some USB ports on a computer just won't cut it. Here's another list of passthrus from madvapes.
    http://www.madvapes.com/USB-Passthroughs_c_17.html

So 3 drops of liquid equal how much time using the ecig? What about the cartomizers? How long does it last full of liquid?

Supposedly a cigarette depending on things like voltage, resistance, etc. I run a low resistance atomizer on a 3.7V ego. I get 7-10 drags or so. I hear you get less at the higher voltage.

So there isn't a car charger specifically for ecigs? Guess I can charge up the 2 batteries and take both with me on long car drives.

There are car chargers and wall chargers specifically built to charge ecig batteries, but I generally get everything with a USB connection and then use the USB kind of car and wall outlets shown above. Makes it more flexible for me to get things charged. So for a 510 connection I would get something like this.
    http://www.madvapes.com/510-USB-Charger-_p_2427.html

BTW - the VP-PT referenced is one of the more expensive passthrus. I think someone had one up in the classified section.

Still being downplayed as much as possible. BP still in charge, why? I believe this way the current admin and finance knucklheads/Goldman Alumn will be able to say, what we did in QE, stimulus and bailouts would have worked (NOT). But blame BP for the current state of the nation and let us keep working (possible martial law).

Sorry, I never had faith in the fiscal policy and the Gulf is the final nail (IMHO). For the conspiracy folks, isn't it funny how this happened just after the okay for more offshore was given. Also notice how quiet the environmental groups are?

And finally (who knows if this is true)

Okay, dayvape is not helping. The joke is many of the mall places advertise that a cart is a pack of cigs. More like 2-3 as I stated. second, what strength juice did you get? That definitely sounds like not enough nic based on symptoms. You can get off it if you want, nicotine withdrawal only lasts a few days (approx 10) but you should always start out with what makes you comfortable and it sounds like you're low. Having said that, the goal of most folks here is to stop smoking, not to stop the nicotine and there are plenty of good arguments that nicotine in and of itself is not that bad.

My rule is, unlike any other method to quit smoking, this one should be almost effortless (relatively speaking). So if you need to grab a smoke or three while you figure out what's not working, DO IT. One less cigarette is good, more better, none is the goal. Plenty of folks here still have a couple during the day and that is okay. I've tried every method of quitting out there, if you can have three cigs a day coming off two packs, how cool is that? in what other alternate reality could that have happened? Unlike a diet, there is no failure here, figure it out, ask for help and move on. Make sure its comfortable for you but that does take experimentation.

And where is my help, noob vids, cartos, fluval, blue foam, direct dripping <-- in fact go to the store and look for this. Nice set of instructionals the founder (Christopher) put up. yeah - he's tough to look at, but worth while. hahahaha - just kidding Christopher.

My husband has been deployed twice. Both times on a base with an APO. Not exactly sure how it works, but I'm thinking if it's a base with all the necessities meaning goods coming in and out I would think there to be an APO.

Regardless of how this turns out I want you all to know that you've succeeded in showing myself and each of us how truly good natured people can be. I usually have folks try the traditional tobacco and dulcis from VT. I tell them they will never get something that is like what they used to smoke, after all, the main ingredient was smoke. Some folks just go off the reservation, chocolate, grape soda, etc. I tell folks if you want to quit, and you need it to seem like your still smoking, just pretend you bummed another brand, we've all been there and put up with it. Deal.

Ahhh - and there's the rub bigjim. You don't have to, but if you feel obliged, please do. It's the original "viral" message. Doesn't have to be something of value, some good advice, some time or effort, but the point is to reach out and suggest to other folks that they can help others as well!!! Its a simple concept, and works well. The best part is, you will never know if you made a difference down the road, but it's cool to at least to have given it a try. And if you don't do it, or the message is lost as its passed on, that's cool as well. Most people can't help it though, it's infectious and they will keep it going. I can not stress enough that its not about money, its about reaching out, strangers helping strangers, proving that humanity is not just a word.

    Fantastic...

Jefferson's quote very apt as well. A balance must be found.

"...a wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."

LOL - oh well. I have to say you were definitely a little too eager. But its understandable to be excited. People love Eastmall and I've sent them three notes with no response. I think we just expect too much these days with emails, we think we're being ignored when someone just decided to go out for the day (or two). On the plus side, it does not seem to be a rip-off. Payment on hold is probably just a clearing thing with the bank/CC co.

Please remember, the smaller retailers like the ones referred to on this site or it appears the one you dealt with, are a one to few person enterprise. Usually committed to the concept as opposed to the money. And welcome.

Don't kick yourself for smoking Michelle, and for sure no need to ditch your best support group for feeling guilty! Almost everyone here knows exactly what you're talking about. It's all good.

I too miss a lot of our former regulars. TSM, keenan, the list could go on. But like Chris said, that's the nature of forums. Someday I'll probably be gone too -- whenever I learn everything. One of the coolest things about VT is that our missing members are missed.

Really there is no comparison for liquid in comparison to a pack of cigarettes. This is a fictional concept at best. For starters the absorbancy rate for the nicotine in eliquid is low and the only comparison you could go by is puffs per cigarette. This will be different for everyone and not worth lighting a cigarette to find out.

Sorry - my tin foil hat says it doesn't matter who seems in charge, there is a ruling elite that is always in charge.
