You are absolutely on the right path!
I am not sure exactly how the dripbox functions.  It seems to be a set 60 watt output.  This means it varies the voltage to the coil based on the resistance.  So even though it is not variable wattage, it is controlled by the chipset to keep you safe.  The Pico and 40TC are regulated and very safe mods.
The batteries are good.  They are not the longest lasting batteries, but very good batteries just the same.  They will handle safely everything your mods can throw at them.
I personally have quit buying batteries from amazon.  I have had good luck with them, but prefer going to a source that I can go back to if I have a problem, and also verify authenticity.  My current favorite batteries/vendors are:
    Samsung 30Q:
    Samsung INR18650-30Q Battery 15A 3000mAh (Liion Wholesale)
    18650 Samsung 3000mAh INR18650-30Q (Illum)
    LG HG2:
    LG HG2 18650 Battery Genuine & Tested - 20A 3000mAh (Liion Wholesale)
    18650 LG 18650HG2 3000mAh (Illum)
You can also can catch them on sale at 101 vape and a few others for a great price.
There are other batteries that are coming out that look pretty good, such as the new Sony VTC 5A.

I'm a a bit timid when I'm dealing with ohms and electronics so I figure I had better triple check myself...I don't want to end up like those guys on TV and be a reason for more regs

Those guys on TV that blow themselves up use mech mods, not regulated mods. With a regulated mod it will shut down before it blows up.

I have!  The Cupti looks really good and I really want to pick a few up.  I just have not seen where the RBA has been made available yet.  I do like the top airflow design, and the leak proof design.  I really hope they have updated the electronics.  I wish they had made the tank a bit bigger.  I fill mine once a day now (10ml).  If I am using a HG2 or 30Q  I change the battery once a day.  It works great!
The only problem I see with the design is how am I going to dry burn/clean coils?  I have a evic mini that I keep a Sub Tank Mini base on and just screw on the RBA and clean/recoil/rewick while it is mounted in the base.  With this design, I don't know how I am going to do it.  I may have to build something to adapt it to a 510 base

    Thanks all,
I've been reading and watching youtube video's until my eyes are popping out. I'm getting some 26 and 28 gauge wire from amazon AWG brand I think it is (I haven't bought it yet it's in my cart) I also put in some pre-built coils in different ohm ratings so I can learn to use my ohm meter right. (checking mine vs theirs) I want to do this in the safest way possible.
    Y'all are great !

I will pile on the SubTank Mini band wagon.  I have both the Mini and the Top Tank.  They are very versatile.  You can use just about all levels of vaping experience.  I hear really good things about the Triton 2, but have never used it.
I have really quit using normal tanks since I have been using the NEBOX.  I love it, but I honestly can't recommend it to others.  So many have had trouble with it leaking.  It also has the worst Temp Control I have ever seen.  I use the RBA with Kanthal/NiChrome exclusively.
I have been using Clapton wire from Vape NW, by Geek Vape.  I bought quite a few different spools and can't tell much difference in them.  Most of my Kanthal I bought from Temco.  When I first got into building my own coils I bought 100 ft spools of everything from 22ga to 30ga.  I found I used the 26&28 ga the most.  I picked up quite a few random gauges of Ni and Ti around the web.  I also use the UD SS316.
I really recommended the Coil Master DIY Kit.  It is a bit pricey, but it has everything you need, except a good pair of scissors.  I have the first version and use it quite often.
I personally am trying to never buy a factory made coil again.  I have 6 RBA sections and I have not built a coil in months.  I put about 5 wraps of the Clapton wire on the base and just clean/rewick them every few days.  Please do a search on Dry Burning Kanthal.  There are warnings out there not to do it, but I still do it.  When I clean my coils I rinse them before I put them in my mod and also prime them so the chances of particulates are minimized.

Oops, I just read you ordered a kit...lol

If you are looking for some one-on-one instruction @Compenstine has a pretty good setup and is a good teacher.  He has helped me learn quite a bit about DIY juice making.  His page can be found here: Fadora Vapor

I have 24g 26g 28g 30g and 32g, it all depends on what resistance you want. I like to use 5 - 7 wraps so I choose a wire that will give the ohms I want. I have settled on 28g for the most part.

My eleaf melo III tank is top fill and I do prefer it to my ijust 2 which is bottom filled so I know what you mean.
I guess my goal is to one and most importantly cut costs and two beat the deeming and get a stocked up before we can't get what we need easily. Since I'm new(er) to vaping I've been taking your advice to have back ups to heart and going as quickly as budget allows but now I think I better break out the credit card so I'm not left in a bad position. I just want to make smart decisions and not get things I won't be happy with or are not good quality.
Oh No.... that website could be dangerous to my wallet !

I would say there will be a 300W mod popping out soon, but it will require a 12V Die-Hard or small nuclear reactor to power it... and the only thing you'll be able to do with it is power a TV, PC, or microwave... because any juice at that high Wattage wouldn't be "consumable"

The coil master set is great it comes with everything you need even a small spool of wire and cotton . I personally use Cotton-Bacon for my cotton. Im no good with OHMs law and figuring out builds, I usually ask someone for help as too what I should build for what Im looking for @Earthling789 then I just stick with that build

I like Kanger I have a Dripbox that I'm playing with but I don't carry it around (I'm scared it'll leak) I just ordered a coil master set and I'm trying to figure out what wire and such I need and what tanks will work for a noobie at these things...I also got a ohm checker too.

Love my kanger subtank  just ordered a few more for stock. I use the RTA  for NI builds only which is a bit tricky until you get used to it the spacing needed in the coil for NI makes it real tight to build on I would think its a lot easier to use regular wire to build on someday Ill give it a shot

That's my go-to for bottles, drippers, make up jars, etc. Others go with other places and venders but I've always gotten excellent customer service and product from this vendor.

Don't forget you need to line up the air holes with the coil.  This is absolutely critical to coil function.

@Edna  Thanks for the link for glassware and equipment.  Their prices aren't bad on glassware, stands/stirrers/etc seem to be very competitive pricing, and shipping is cheap (if using economy shipping method).  Wizard Labs and Amazon are also inexpensive ways to purchase glassware which are both quality and low-priced.  I usually add in a piece or two of glassware when ordering from Wizard Labs (to bump myself to free shipping levels in my cart), and I've ordered several quality pieces from Amazon... you can't beat 2-day shipping if you're a Prime member

I've tried using premade coils on my JAM and Stillare RDA. It was okay but I prefer to build my own coils.
When you're ready to take the plunge, the first thing on your shopping list should be a good ohm meter. Don't trust that your mod will read the resistance of your coil accurately. Much safer to have a dedicated ohm meter instead.

First of all, thank you Christopher for doing this.   I really appreciate your dedication, your time and your efforts to keep us informed on this.  You are a gentleman, a scholar, and a hell of a piano player.  Thank you for putting VaporTalk here.

the first thing I want to discuss is on line age verification.  I have never had to do this.  I'm curoious about how it works, what is required and the implications of leaving a hard trail and possibly compromising security, personal information and privacy issues as well as identity theft.
it's one thing to walk in to a place and flash an ID in front of a clerk and be on my way.  It's another matter when I have to supply information via electronic transfer to another location in cyberspace,  personal info that I may not want "out there" that can be accessed by a 3rd party (or 2nd party for that matter).  Particularly, if I have to do this multiple times with multiple vendors.  Seems messy and I don't like it.
So so my questions are:  How is age verified on line? What exactly is required?  Also, is there some way I can verify my age with ONE action and then obtain an "age verification status" that can then be used in multiple transaction sites - in other words, I prove to "A" that I'm over 21 and then "A" issues me a cyber stamp that I can use at numerous locations without having to give out the specific information over and over again?  How does that work?  I would rather have a notary verify my age, for instance, and issue me a "this guy is cool" card which is then accepted by vendors without having to give these vendors my "proof of age" every time I purchase.  Does such a thing exist? All I need is to show that I'm over 21, not my actual birthdate tied to my name and address, for example.
Im not overly paranoid when it comes to my on-line footprint but I believe in the right to privacy and the right to protect myself from excessive distribution of sensitive info.

That's putting the cart before the horse. The deeming regulations have been put aside for the time being, but there will be other things coming down the pike. Get involved with CASAA, they're a wonderful organization dedicated to the cause of vaping. Don't give up just yet, there are many people working to make vaping better... become one of them.

This was one of the intended goals of the FDA's overreach through their deeming regulations.... to discourage anyone from taking up vaping (or at least vaping that wasn't backed/approved by Big Tobacco).
At this time, don't get discouraged, and don't give into Big Tobacco (and Big Government)... start vaping now and begin your life away from analogs... forever!
As @Tam suggested... get involved with, and join CASAA.  You'll always have the most up-to-date info about vaping regulations and receive info on what you can do (and when) regarding political activism for vaping.

I wanted to take a moment to chime in and post a link to the VT blog: http://www.vaportalk.com/fda-regulation-explained/ SAFTA released a very easy to understand breakdown of the upcoming regulations. (Though a few things have changed)
I've been pretty stretched over the last few weeks working with partners to ensure we don't go to the way of the wind when all of this comes down, with that said though, I'll try to update the first post shortly later with the SAFTA PDF and an easier to understand bullet point of what's coming. (It's confusing even for me)
