LuckiStarre got a reaction from GeorgeF in Sweet Vapes Snickerdoodle Cookie
Sweet Vapes has the best Snickerdoodle I've tried. I ordered it with 18mg nic, 50/50 blend. Smooth notes of vanilla, cinnamon and cookie in perfect balance upon my first vape. Good vapor production, which is important to me. It's the best new flavor I've tried in months. Sweet Vapes told me they use a high grade nicotine that accounts for the smoothness and why the prices are a bit higher. I'll be reordering this flavor, it's perfect. Also, they have the lowest prices on coils I've come across.

The guide that came with my Protank II works for me. I use variable voltage and my husband doesn't. His Protank works great with the coil sizes it comes with, so he sticks to the lower resistance coils. A 1.8 coil burns up in my Vision Spinner because it's designed for 3.1-3.3V. I get the best flavor, vapor and draw at 4.1-4.3V and the Protank guide lists a 2.8 ohm coil as my suitable Voltage to different Resistance. I haven't had a burnt coil since I switched to the 2.8 ohm. My husband uses a simple Ego-T and Ego-C, gets a perfect hit with good vapor but we vape different juice with mine tending to be thicker. This is the suitable Resistance to Voltage that Protank suggests: 'Resistance' 1.7-1.9 Ohms to 'Voltage' 3.1-3.3V, ''2.1-2.3 Ohms to ''3.4-3.7V, ''2.4-2.6 Ohms to ''3.8-4.1V, ''2.6-3.0 Ohms to ''4.2-4.5V.

My sister and her husband got us into vamping. We are all trying to quite smoking. Hubbie and I have tried Chantix, cold turkey, Nicotrol inhaler, etc. Nothing seemed to work, we always found an excuse to got back to smoking. Vaping so far seems o be helping. Almost immediately we cut down our cigarette use by over a half, and no grumpiness involved by either party. Hubby is going a bit overboard with all the different batteries, drip tubs, flavors, etc. But he is a technology geek, and engineer, so this appeals to him. Whatever, as long as it help us quite cigarettes.

I just got an order today with nine flavors from Mt Baker Vapor. All the juice was made on 3/8 so it's only steeped two days. The Vanilla Butternut smelled so good I couldn't wait. It's absolutely delicious right now! I'm so glad I ordered a 30ml bottle, 18mg nicotine, 50/50 with two flavor shots. I don't know if it'll be around long enough to steep for two weeks but will try to save some. They also sent me a large sample of Grape. Can't believe how fast it shipped.

I dont want to see the next generation smoking ... thats why i vape. I'd much rather see a minor see what the fuss is all about, get bored, and walk away without addiction, than to see that minor experiment with a cigarette and be imprisoned for life. The nicotine in an ecig is delivered at lower and slower paces than it is in a traditional. After a minor tastes these, then try a traditional, theyll never pick up another traditional again., they taste horrible in comparison.
Save the children, via vaping. Put the smoke tax money back in the family budget, keep a roof over their head, keep your job.
We DO care for the children, unlike the antz who want to deny shelter, employment, health care, insurance if anyone even looks at something that is not run by big pharma and the fda.

I hate this statement. What about a toddler drinking my bleach, my 409, eating my bottle of prescription medication, the fatally poisonous chemicals I use with my electronics, eating my batteries, The list goes on!
What about caffeine? I've ODed on caffeine! (I didn't know you could, at the time. What a trip, don't ever do it)
What about alcohol? You can OD on that too.
The world is full of things that if used, abused, or carelessly let fall in to the hands of small children, will cause death.
I have no children, so I don't do much to "child proof" anything. (Actually, given my love of experimenting with electricity, my home would be a child's death trap. Shock hazards, chocking hazards, poisoning hazards... don't bring your kids here)
If I did have kids, e-liquids would be secured with my alcohol.
The FDA loves to "over protect" and ruin good things.

I didn't read thru even the entire first post in this thread, simply because I had to stop and look in shock and awe at one particular comment. You said you think that the FDA cares about us and is in this fight for the health of the people... This is complete BS. I'm not calling you out, suggesting that you're dumb or anything at all like that. But they certainly do not care about us. If they did, there is no conceivable reason for them to do what they've been doing(seizing shipments, spreading all kinds of lies and BS about e-cigs being dangerous or potentially dangerous). We KNOW for a fact that cigarettes are TERRIBLE for us, yet the FDA allows them to be sold. Meanwhile, here comes a much safer alternative, and what do they do? They say that because they haven't been proven completely safe(wtf is 100% safe anyway?), that they should be pulled from the market until they can be proven completely safe, despite the fact that cigarettes, in contrast, have been proven 100% NOT safe, yet they're allowed to be there. This is all about money and complaints from either the tobacco industry, the pharmaceutical industry, doctors who get kickbacks, or a combination of all three.

These are NOT marketed to kids. These are NOT nicotine-cessation devices. Despite the common belief that apparently adults don't like or deserve candy, THEY DO. These are also not drug delivery devices. What about 0 nic juice? And even WITH nicotine in the juice, if this is a drug delivery device, then so are cigarettes. So is a coffee mug. So is an aluminum can. We can be ridiculous about this and start calling everything that aids you in the ingestion, inhalation, or absorption of ANYTHING a drug delivery device, or we can just end the madness and give smokers a much healthier alternative to smoking that still allows them to get the nicotine they crave. It also allows them the option to actually quit because it addresses the hand-to-mouth action, it addresses the "smoke" aspect, and it provides lower levels of nicotine and even 0 nicotine juices. There are cigarettes with lower nicotine(or at least that's what I THINK "lights," which we can't call them anymore are), but there aren't any with ZERO nicotine. And now thanks to new legislature, if one were to try smoking lower nicotine cigarettes, it's much more confusing because we can't call them lights or mediums or whatever anymore. Gums, patches, and pills have a horrible success rate. Only the e-cigarette has a success rate higher than 20%(which is probably being incredibly generous to other methods of quitting), and it wasn't even intended as an aid for quitting. That's saying something. That's powerful. THAT is why all this crap is going on, because it is so great. The FDA sees this. The FDA knows this. Doctors know this. The pharmaceutical industry knows this, and so does big tobacco. The government wants e-cigs gone because they're losing tax money. The Pharmaceutical industry wants e-cigs gone because they're competition to the gums, patches, and pills that don't work. Big tobacco wants e-cigs gone because they're competition to cigarettes, and (some)doctors want e-cigs gone because it prevents them from getting as many dr. visits, prescribing as many drugs, and in turn, getting as many kickbacks. Basically, for every person that wants e-cigs gone, they have a financial interest in their removal from the market. It's THAT simple.

And every single thing I ever hear about the FDA points to the fact that they absolutely ARE NOT for our benefit. They don't want us to be healthy. Keeping us unhealthy is what keeps their wallets full. Same goes for doctors and pharmaceutical and insurance companies.

    Absolutely fascinating conversation.

I understand and commend you for wanting to help people make the healthiest decisions possible re getting off nicotine.

However, I was pretty bowled over by the line in your new disclaimer stating that "Nicotine Causes Cancer". I've searched high and low for any evidence that nicotine alone causes cancer and have found nothing credible to suggest that nicotine alone, apart from smoking, causes cancer. Yes, there might be trace amounts of potentially carcinogenic nitrosamines in the production of nicotine, but there's been no evidence that such a low level of nitrosamines actually causes cancer. Does Nicorette gum carry the warning label for causing cancer? I am a bit confused as to why that statement, "Nicotine Causes Cancer", is there.

Further, while we all know of nicotine's addictive properties, if it doesn't cause other negative health effects, why such eagerness to get people off it?

There are only two reasons that I can think of:

    1. Nicotine addiction still "an addiction" and all addiction is "a disease";

    2. Without the e-cig satisfying the nicotine craving, someone would jump back to cigarettes to satisfy that nicotine in a heartbeat.

As for nicotine addiction as "a disease", yes, that is a good model to use for a medical professional looking a treatment options. And it is a good reason for keeping the next generation from getting hooked. But, if it causes no ill effects to the physical health of the addict, then I'd say it probably ought to be pretty low on the list of addictions for people to feel a need to "cure". The best I think that we can hope for (collectively) in this generation is harm reduction. Even many anti-smoking groups have given up on seeking perfection in human behavior and have instead adopted a harm reduction strategy.

The second issue is what I think is the really tough issue. E-cigs with nicotine make it easy to quit analogs, but until the nicotine addiction is cured, the leap back to analogs from e-cigs is way too easy. We haven't broken any of the major behavioral links to smoking --still have the hand to mouth habit -- and still have the addiction to nicotine. The very thing that makes vaping nicotine an effective smoking replacement (it similarity to smoking) is the very thing that makes returning to smoking an easier leap. So ultimately, until we ultimately wean ourselves off of nicotine, we are easy marks for returning to smoking.

I started vaping and quit smoking Nov 27,2013. At that time I weighed 245 lbs. Well, here I am almost 3 months later and no stinkies at 227 lbs! I'm not one who was ever overly concerned with my weight. I only step on the scale a couple times a year. But just a few minutes ago my wife commented that she thinks I'm losing weight. She somehow got me on the scale and .... WOW!!! 18lbs lighter!
Anyone else have this pleasant little side effect of vaping?

    So figuring some things out.....
Here in MD our brands of cigarettes run about $7.01 per pack. We each smoked 2 packs a day, so $14.02 each per day. Multiply that by 2, you get $28.04 spent per day in cigarettes. Counting 30 days per month, that's $841.20.

Subtract $100 per month for vape supplies (because we are cheap and stick with the same stuff), that brings it to $741.20.

Add what we currently pay in rent ($545), and you get $1286.20.

My sister in law pays $1300 a month for her house. So instead of renting, we could theoretically be buying a house right now! Granted, we own our mobile home and pay lot rent, but it would be nice to not live where we are living.

When we realized this, it made us sick to our stomachs. Smoking not only lowers your quality of health, it also lowers your quality of LIFE! When my husband told his mom, she was sick. But honestly, when you're addicted to something, you don't think about the cost. You only think about the cost once you quit doing what you were doing. And now that we know, I doubt we will EVER go back to analogs.

Well it has been about 1 week vaping and this is the 4th day without smoke. Introduced by someone at work. We now have converted about 5 people here. As a mood it makes it more comfortable when others are doing it to. 49 years old been smoking since I was 16. Quit a few times with the longest being 2 years. I think this is a great alternative. My wife (non smoker) appreciates it also. No smell. No matter how much you bath and brush your teeth the smell was in my lungs. She said she was unable to lay close to my face without smelling it.

Glad to be a part of this.

    Hello,
I started vaping as a way to quit the habit that after 36 years has left me with "the lungs of an 80 year old man", as my doctor put it. Fortunately I have (so far) avoided the big C. However, COPD (chronic bronchitis) has (had, i hope) me to the point that any type of resipatory infection, flu, cold or even excessive dust can send me into coughing fits or in the worst cases, into the hospital. On my best days, I would hack up phlem 10 -15 times a day. On normal days, I would lay down for the night and literally gurgle, not gargle (that thing you do with mouthwash) but gurgle (like a quiet bubbling) while I was trying to breathe. My wife (a geriatric nurse) calls it a "death rattle", something her patients do (the ones who smoke) right before they, you know.. Basically, I was in a constant state of near pneumonia.

I tried everything else to quit:
Cold Turkey - OMG no.. and my closest fix is in every convenience store, everywhere. Patches - crazy, wild dreams. I mean... 15 ft killer blood sucking butterfly crazy dreams, ok? Gum - well, maybe it tastes better now but back then? Why would they try to make it taste that way? I guess so kids wouldn't chew it. Yeah, well... Adults either IMO. Wellbutrin - This turned me into a cry-baby basket case. Emphasis on BASKET case. Chantix - see "Wellbutrin" and multiply by 5. Only a matter of time before I hurt myself or others. Scary thing is you can't just stop taking it..you have to be stepped down. I tried switching to the "cigarette type" ecigs some time ago. While I'm sure that it's a fine product for some, for me it was inconsistent in vapor production, taste, and throat hit. (which I've read is caused by the level of nic). Oh it was convenient, small, compact, easy to use. It was just that something was up with their quality control. So, it was a short time before I was back to two packs a day.

I've been vaping a solid 20 days now on Kanger T3s tanks and Ego CTwist 900 mah bats. I don't see myself going back to analogs anytime soon either. I guess the difference is that if I don't get enough vapor or the taste goes bad then I can actually tear the tank down, find out whats wrong, fix it and keep on vaping. Something I couldn't do with the self contained, prefilled cartridges from before. It's fun to fiddle with the device. I can see myself eventually building my own mods, wrapping my own coils, etc..

I'm having a ball with experimentation, learning how it works, and what works best for me. And the best part, after 20 days I don't gurgle in my sleep and I don't cough up crap as often. This is a good hobby.

I'm not perfect and not all of my recommendations will work for you because vaping is a very personal thing. I only rec the things I've tried that worked for me. The rest is all about you and what works for you.

Glad to know that the recs so far are doing well.

Here's some recs for juices. Go check out EC Blends. You can get 5 ml bottles of juices for around $2.50 a bottle (prices go up as you add stuff). This way you can go a little nuts on flavors and try all different kinds to see what you like. Most need to sit (it's called steeping) for around 5 days or more depending on the juice. Some fruit flavors are good right out of the mail. They will get better with time, though.

Start with 50PG/50VG to start. It's a good middle of the road until you're more experienced and figure out what you like. The nic is up to you but here's a rough estimate of mg to what you used to smoke.

24 mg nic = full flavor like Marlboro Reds

    12 mg nic = lights

6 mg nic = ultra lights

    Good luck!

I'd suggest getting a 1300 mAh Vision Spinner for the battery. This is a variable voltage so you get some play with it but it's simple for a beginner. Just start at the lowest setting and vape. If it's not good, doesn't seem to get much vapor, turn it up a little. Vape. Lather, rinse, repeat until it tastes a little burnt and then turn it down a bit. That should be your sweet spot for that juice.

As for tanks, everyone will have their own favorites. Mine is an Anyvape Davide mini with a 1.8 ohm coil. The Kanger Pro Tank mini is pretty much the same thing, just a little easier to fill. The coils/heating elements in these are replaceable so you don't have to keep buying the whole tank every time. The coils run around a dollar or a little more each.

Then, there's the e-liquid/juice. There are so many good vendors around. One of my favorites is EC Blends. They sell in bottles of 5 ml at around $2.50 each so you can try all kinds of different flavors (and they customize to your heart's content) without breaking the bank.

    Good luck!
