Following is MY opinion and MY opinion ONLY.  For someone just starting out vaping, the setup you're interested in seems to have quite a learning curve.  Tons of very good information can be had from the guys n gals on this forum, but a response to a question may take longer than you need.  When I, and quite possibly the majority of everyone else, started down the vape path I/we started with beginners equipment to learn what this vape scene was all about and figure out what kind of equipment I thought I wanted to end up with.  My "wants" changed a few times along the way to what I settled in with and still use to this day.  MY advice would be to find a local vape shop and spend some hands-on time with someone you can have a face-to-face with and get all your questions answered at one time before spending money on high end equipment you will still most likely have to figure out along the way to your personal sweet spot.  Since you're just now quitting smoking and looking to vapeing to satisfy your nic cravings, the learning period for the SVD could prove very frustrating and expensive.  Start simple, inexpensive, learn, then decide.

BB vs HTML......can't help ya there.  As to dropping smokes, all I can tell ya is what worked for me.  After finally convincing myself I needed to stop smelling up the place and annoying everyone around me I went to a vape shop, bought a double entry-level starter kit and put the last 1/2 pack of smokes in my glove box, told myself this WILL work and on 19 Apr, 13 after 50 yrs of seeing my money go up in smoke I had my last cigarette.  Actually a tiny bit more involved than that, but the results are the same.  So, my "tip" to anyone wanting to quit smoking would be to first convince yourself you really want to quit, find a vape shop with topshelf customer service, try every setup they will let you try, decide on a couple flavors you want to start with, buy the setup you can afford knowing that in the future you'll probably want to upgrade, so don't go overboard at the beginning till you know for sure what you're doing.  There will be a small period of familiarization for the particular setup you pick.  It's not rocket surgery, but it's not totally automatic for everyone, either.  Bottom line.... be committed, depend on your equipment to get you thru the rough spots, and BACKUPS.   Have at least two batteries and a couple tanks filled and ready to go.  Don't let some vape shop sell you stuff you don't know anything about. Buy what you're comfortable with and don't walk out till you're pretty sure you know everything there is to know about what you're spending your money on.  So much for a simple tip.  I'm sure there'll be more from others.  This is a fine bunch here willing to help.  Many here know much more than i, so, any more questions, just ask.

Bak, whatever works for you is what you should use.  You'll find there is a small learning curve when you first start vaping.  Take the time to figure out what vaping is all about, get used to and comfortable with your equipment so you can stay off smokes and you should be fine.  Don't get too wound up about someone's "opinion" of your setup.  Instead, enjoy what you spent your money on. Once you're settled in and comfortable with vaping, then you'll probably want to explore other equipment setups. If/when you want good advice, you can't go wrong right here. Be picky about the shop you frequent, too. Too many shops want you to just buy something and leave.  Make sure you know everything there is to know about what you're buying before you leave.  You've probably already figured out the combinations, equipment and lingo can be mind-boggling to a beginner. You'll be just fine.
Talk about overkill, I sometimes cruise around with an eleaf 20 topped off with a full size Nautilus. My attitude..... Works for me.  If you don't like it, don't look at it.

Not sure if my taste buds are revolting or I'm doing something wrong. Been playing with DIY for a short while and sometimes my mixes are ok, sometimes not so much. Which brings me to the question I have been pondering ....... is there a point at which a flavor starts "going backwards" and the finished juice mix just tastes crummy? Lately my mixes have not been tasting as good as I remember - or think they should, but people around me say the odor of the flavor is quite noticeable, and some who I allow to sample my vape, such as mixes blended with Black Cherry, Chocolate, Tosted Marshmallow, say the taste is there, sometimes to the point of being too much for them, but I can hardly taste it. I'm beginning to think it's me getting familair with the flavor to the point where my taste buds ignore it and I need to change directions for a while. I'm mixing at 20% flavor so before I go bumping up the flavor ratio I would like some guidance from some of the more experienced DIYer's.

To begin with, to clarify something, you don't "smoke" these.  You "vape".  Second, you will probably need to provide much more information as to your equipment in order to get proper vaping assistance.  Again, not intending to demean your post, just correcting improper terminology.  I'm sure you will get the answers you need as the day progresses.  Welcome to VaporTalk.  You can learn much by reading past posts and asking questions of the friendly and much more knowledgeable guys n gals in here than myself.

Well, well, gee whiz, golly, wow guys n gals, seems e cigs actually are a cessation device ...... imagine that!!
I've been thinking about quitting everything myself lately. Just have to wean myself down to a low nic level first, tho.  50+ years of burning nasties before finding vaping a couple years ago makes me wonder just how difficult it might be to one day be totally nondependant.  Guess there's only one way to find out.

Well, seems I found an answer to a question I haven't asked....... yet.  Recently stepped up from an eGo/EVOD 1.8 single coil setup using 18 nic to an eleaf 20 topped with a Nautilus running a 1.6 dual coil with the air control ring set wide open. Juice is 20p/80v with 18 nic.  I've also picked up the habit of vapeing on my equipment a lot while driving, which means I've pretty much burned up a 20ml bottle since Monday.  Had an idea, but wasn't positive what was making me feel a bit odd till I read the above.  Went back to The ego/evod setup with an occasional hit on the nautilus with the volts and watts set to the lowest till I can work up some lower nic juice.

Don't know exactly, but over 50 years. Started way too early, but it's never too late to quit. Put nasties down the same day I bought my setup - Apr, '13 - and haven't looked back. Made a lot of people happy that day.

aufin got a reaction from Earthling789 in what you find more appealing about vaping ?
Shortest answer iwould be what's  "not" to like.  Simple answer; not much.
What I '"do" like is .... no more cigarettes.....no smelling like a stale ashtray... no more having to carry a lighter....don't have to smoke the whole thing....don't have to find someplace to thump the butt....no more going out to the "leper colony" to burn one.....no more burning the furniture, my car seat, my fingers, chasing a lit one between my legs...usually in traffic....much more.
Not much on gadgets, gizmos, and shiny things, so I'm pretty happy just being off cigarettes with my basic stick battery and EVOD setup.

I know exactly what you're saying.  While driving, a cigarette used to be in my hand most of the time.  Since vaping, I've taken up the habit of instead of drinking water, eating ice.  Whenever I stop for gas or make a pit-stop I fill my big go-cup with ice and nibble on ice instead of drinking so much water.  More often than not lately I notice my go-cup getting pretty empty before reaching for my equipment.

Well said bebop.....and bc. My sentiments exactly. My 2yr anniversary is on the near horizon as well. April 19 I think. I have the date written on the pack I have with me sitting in the console so I always have a reminder and something to show those who ask about vaping. I very rarely ever think about cigs anymore, although I did have to dive into the stale last pack a couple days ago. A guest at my house for Easter dinner got a bee sting. Maybe tobacco is useful for something, afterall.
