On mine I hit the + and - at the sane time like I'm going to lock it and it tells me ohms. I successfully just did my first coil. The only thing I did that messed me up for a sec, was wrapping the excess cotton wick around both posts, which was causing it to not fire, once I unwrapped the cotton a little it fired perfectly and tastes awesome!!

I have a Sigelei Zmax that has the same feature, but the only problem with using it for checking resistance is that you have to press the fire button to get a resistance reading, which hits the coil with current. An ohmmeter doesn't.

Thanks Uma, I remember reading the lavatube I have has safety protection but I might use a meter too and play it safe

Uma reacted to CascadianExotics in I-Chybrid...a game changer?
Ok.. So, here's a quick update on the i-Chybrid. Apparently, the tank is NOT glass / pyrex....or if it is, then it is of crap quality, and finding a replacement tank should be of the highest order upon ordering one of these devices. This is because my tank cracked halfway through my third tank of tiramisu from OMG e-liquid. The tank protector was on the whole time, and the unit was properly stored while lugging it around. Needless to say that I am quite unhappy. Not only did that render my new mod useless after only having it for less than a week, but the e-liquid that was wasted was fairly expensive and quite tasty, I might add! I will be sending 101vape an email regarding this matter, as well as trying to find a replacement tank, and will update this thread once those issues have been resolved.

Every so often, there comes along a device that could be considered a "Game-Changer." Now, I am not an e-Cig expert, nor do I play one on TV. However, in my opinion, the I-Chybrid has the potential to fit that title.

Priced at under $40, this little gem has it all. The i-Chybrid combines looks, functionality, and ease of use into a compact, light weight, and sturdy package.

    Under the Hood

The i-Chybrid is made of aircraft aluminum construction with solid brass contacts. The unit is outfitted with an attached I-ATTY, which features a Pyrex tank.

Unlike the Z-atty, which this unit is designed from, the I-ATTY is super simple to set up. The lip around the edge of the top deck can be a bit of a pain to work around, but once it has been acclimated to, the end user should have little trouble working around it.

My only complaint here is the air hole placement. Stock, the air hole is dangerously close to the top of the atomizer cover. At 1.2mm, the draw might be a bit loose for some people. For me though, I usually just cut to the chase and drill out my Gennys to 1/16th inch, which puts the bottom of the air hole just below the atomizer cover, and is subject to condensation buildup underneath.

Tinkerers take note: Later on, I'm going to try sanding the bottom of the cover to get the placement back to where it should be. If this works how I want, I will be updating this thread.

    Battery Chamber and Switch

The chamber holds a single 18350 battery, and does not have any extension tubes available. Though the i-Chybrid is well built, it is still anodized aluminum. Therefore, it is prone to scratches in the finish, and will dent if not properly stored.

The button design is a bit annoying to work around. But, the switch has a good throw, and does not require a locking ring. So, the unit can be set down without firing.

    Performance

The i-Chybrid, being constructed of aluminum is already highly conductive. Add in the brass contacts, and you have a recipe for a great vape with little voltage drop.

Using a fresh AW 18350 IMR at 4.19 volts, the i-Chybrid experiences a mere 0.38 volt drop under a 0.8 ohm load. That number compares with just about any of the high-end devices currently being sought after.

    Final Thoughts

The i-Chybrid is simply a great device. I carried it around unprotected in my pocket all day yesterday. At work, in the car, around the house, and around my neighborhood. No sign of leaking, misfires, scratches, or dents.

For under $40, you will not find a better deal anywhere. The unit comes with a bag of spare parts, a small screwdriver, a spare pre-rolled wick, and a length of coil wire. The atty also comes with a pre-installed wick and coil.

Seems to me, everything done on such a large scale as this e-cig decision is driven or influenced by $$$$$$$$. The FDA, big pharma, and tobacco companies are all a bunch of two-faced liars. They all claim to have "our" best interests at heart. Well, I say BS!!! I'm sick 'n tired of being micromanaged........and lied to "for my own good". I think we're all adults and can make up our own mind. We don't need the FDA getting so deep in this. If they want to make sure everything is done above board and with quality materials, well, ok. When they start making noise about regulating along the lines of tobacco.......No Way!! It's all about the tax revenue under the quise of a healthy product. Well, I'm here to tell ya, e-cigs work....at least for me. Might be a slight learning curve, but so what? I bought my first eGo setup one day and that day was the last cigarette I've smoked - in 50 years. I'm tired of govt sticking their nose into every segment of my life. I don't take one thing from the govt......and don't expect any. When I retire in a couple years I'll take back what I've been paying for for decades. Then I'll sign up for VA, which I also earned. The FDA is not interested in my well being. They're all about protecting the companies that send the lobbysts to "help" make the decisions, and protecting their "phony baloney jobs". Where's all those tax dollars the states are collecting from cigarette sales going.....some sick TV ads? On one hand the states say, publicly, the taxes on cigs are all about giving cig smokers incentive to quit. But, when enough people quit or find some other alternative, the politicians start crying about all the lost tax revenue. Well, which is it.......incentive, or tax revenue? I think we all can read between the lines. Same for e-cigs. I'm all about making things safe, but I believe, for the most part, the marketplace works pretty good. And, with the internet superighway and forums like this one, something not right won't last very long. Sounds harsh, and probably is, but in my opinion, if someone's dumb/gullible enough to try something without proper caution and/or research, they probably don't belong in the gene pool, anyway. Case in point.....meth/heavy drug users. I know, not relevant. Just an example. I don't know what we can do, but I'm keepiing my eyes and ears open. All I can think of right now is call your representatives and senators and voice your opinion. As a whole, I'd think we have a pretty loud voice. The optimist in me says we have a chance.....the pessimist in me says the politician hacks/pricks are going to do what's in their best interest.
Just my opiion....... I could be wrong.

Hoping they do not suck as bad as every other one in my area. This one is called "Vintage Vapors" and has a theme like from the 40s and 50s. They carry their own line of liquids and something called "Tasty Troll". Going to stop by in a few after I close the dealership at 6 to check it out. Would be cool to have a local option as long as they are reasonable and not Richard Heads like the other two shops in my area. So far they have rave reviews on Facebook, we will see. They are literally on the 2.9mile commute I have back and forth to my dealership.

I love it! They are peacefully rallying to take our constitution back! The biggest traffic jam in the USA!! Take your young ones out, they will be delighted to hear the truckers pull their horns for them at 10:04 am and pm.
Yeh, one of the illegal to do things anymore, but not this weekend!!

    http://foxnewsinsider.com/2013/10/10/thousands-truckers-head-dc-ride-constitution-rally

If the trucks don't run, we don't get our supplies. The stores hold enough supplies for about 3 days. Are you ready for a life of riots, chaos, murder, mayhem? Well, neither are the truckers, but if they can't afford to drive the trucks... This weekend is a heads up. Wake up America!!!!

The Vets 1000 mile march is this weekend too. They are taking back their war memorials in every town, especially the major one.
    Lumberjacks from WA are joining!
    Everyone is joining!!
The gov done forgot that truckers, loggers, and some from all working classes, are Vets too.
    I bet they'll remember now...

Ride for the constitution at ridefortheconstitution.com
They have live radio coverage too. (Goes empty here and there for an hour, for breaks, otherwise always on)

There are FB sites, news clippings, ... I'm just learning all this, due to a mad as hell hermit who has to buy a new EPA certified wood stove with ,05 decimals less smoke output from the one he has already. Crazy regulations.. Getting everyone distracted... To the point we have UNITED to speak up.
    Peacefully.

Haha, the more I learn, the more hyped I get!
