Don't forget the "burnt orange" from the 70's.  Several years ago I "inherited" (read - I was given against my wishes) 3 crock pots from my grandmother - harvest gold, avocado green and burnt orange.  Yes, she had one in each of the "in" colors from the 70's.  They were meant to coordinate with the décor in her condo at the time - avocado green carpet and her furniture was burnt orange and harvest gold.

I still shudder at the horror of it all.

I'll second that one!  One of the first things I did for my mother after I got out of college ...  I bought her a new stove...   That harvest gold stove from the early '70s HAD to go... LOL.  She's also lucky we got a new washer/dryer when I was in HS... those dull green ones from '77 were an embarrassment to wash your clothes in

Yes, it takes practice. That's how we learn. At the same time, what Tug and Tam have both said is true.

I don't think Tug meant any offense. I have the luxury of an education surrounded around electrical engineering, so much of what Tug mentioned is second nature to me. To follow up on Tam's comment, it's entirely possible you simply have a bad atty with a defective insulator. Or you may literally have a screw loose (on the atty, not in your head).

For what it's worth, I can build all day long on my Mutation X or my Royal Hunter and be within 2 hundredths of an ohm of my goal. I won an igo W8 in a raffle the other night that I have no doubt I can build on. But for the life of me I can't get a decent 1 ohm coil on my LEMO. I have done 5 or 6 coils on the LEMO with the exact same results you have described. My solution? I cleaned it, put it in it's box and put it on my vape shelf in my mancave. I'm taking a breather from it for a few days and I'll tackle it again next weekend, after my frustrations are gone.

Sometimes you just need to take a step back, take a deep breath and clear your head. You'll get it. And that first successful build will be one of the most satisfying builds you will ever do.

Yep. The fact this little puppy chucks is just a bonus. Nothing compared to initials though.

    The Hyon Ruga - #35 (of 50)

The Royal Hunter RDA (the scuff mark is actually on the case, not the atty)

I forgot to take a pic before I wicked it, but it's a basic dual coil. 5 wraps with 26ga Kanthal around a 2.5mm screwdriver. Metered at .27 ohms. It definitely gets the job done. That would be some of Comp's PBFB in max VG.

    And finally...

I ordered my first bottle of PBFB from Fadora this afternoon...0 nic, max VG...but that's for my Mutation X v3 and Limitless combo...I have plenty of Charlie Noble juices in various flavors for the Arctic and other juices for the Herakles.
Beautiful thing about all these tanks I'm aquiring along with all the juices I've bought...I'm quickly learning which juices vape best (for me) in which tanks.

A couple of other factors to consider are airflow, the length of your draws and the wattage setting on your device. I have used liquids as high as 85% VG in my subtank mini without dry hits, but I keep my draws short...usually 1 to 3 seconds., I usually set my wattage between 26.5 and 27.5 watts, and I like my airflow wide open. Anything longer in terms of length of inhale or higher in terms of wattage and I do get dry hits on it.
Basically, whether you end up with dry hits is going to be directly affected by your personal vaping preferences. From my personal experience, if you are trying to cloud chase with the .5 ohm occ coils, you likely will end up with dry hits, but if you want a satisfying vape with decent clouds and good flavor, then you will likely be happy.

Chalk up another vote for the Sigelei.  I have the 100w plus and I love it.  I use it pretty much exclusively with several different tanks and a couple of RDA's.  Same with the Nitecore Intellicharger.  I have both the i2 and the i4 and they both perform flawlessly for me.

As far as the batteries are concerned, the LG HE2's recommended by Shen are definitely a good choice (I have one pair of the HE2's).  Another good choice would be the Samsung 25R's (my personal preference, not saying they are the best or the worst...they just happen to be what I use for the most part)  I'm sure others would recommend the Sony VTC4s or VTC5s or the purple Efest batteries.  I don't own any of those though.  My only other recommendations regarding batteries would be:

Buy a minimum of 4 when starting out.  6 would be a better choice if you can swing it.  Along the same lines of having multiple PV's or APV's (backups and backups for your backups), the same rule applies to batteries in my opinion.  In my short time vaping, I have learned there is no such thing as having too many 18650 batteries. Don't mix brands when using them (in fact, because I'm anal, I actually mark and "pair" my batteries when I buy them).  Battery cases...can't forget cases.  They are one of, if not the absolute, cheapest safety devices you can invest in.

Nice looking builds. I just ordered a bunch of kanthal (26, 28, 30 & 32g). I've been wanting to try a dual Clapton but have been putting it off. Think I just found my motivation.

I've been doing a lot of coil builds lately, figured I'd share this one.
Dual Staggered Fused Clapton .2 ohm Build. 28g 317L core, wrapped with 32g kanthal, fused with 28g kanthal, wrapped on a 2mm screwdriver, built on 28mm Tobh Atty.

Another awesome build I did in a Goblin tank. This thing hits like a dripper. It's Dual Claptons .2 ohms, 28g kanthal core wrapped with 32g kanthal with on a 1mm coil jig.

The top fill on the lemo 2 has me looking at it. I actually like the lemo for 1 - 1.5 ohms, it's just a pain in the @$$ to fill and drain.
Speaking of draining...I opted against it out of, as jasonculp alluded to...laziness. Dropped the wattage and I am almost finished with the tank. Not getting the dry hits, but it isn't quite as warm and flavorful as I normally like it.

Oh well, a few more hits and it will be done, then I can re-wick and enjoy it as I normally do.

I use this method too on most tanks.  The lemo 2 has a top fill and you can drain it from there, it is messy and slow.  TBH I am so lazy, I would probably vaped a flavorless tank and then rewicked...lol
