Tam got a reaction from Walt in Hey am new to vaping wanted some advice
My advice is to not post gratuitous spammy links with your question. Thank you.

Hey Tam!
I make a berry custard for my wife she adores.
still going strong....and no pod system yet. I've fallen in to too much of a routine. oh well, what ever works and gets you there.. 😀

Nice to see you again, @Bebop!
I'm vaping some mixed berries with a drizzle of custard today.

On the pod systems I've tried lately, once the juice goes into the battery part, the rest is just toast. Time to throw it out and start with a new battery unit.

The ones I had did have air holes in the very bottom, but I guess different brands have different designs. I tried cleaning the ones I had with rubbing alcohol, and it did help for awhile, but went bad again. About the only thing you can do is get a different setup that uses a fire button instead of depending on air flow to fire it. Don't know about the one you have, but mine had a hole through the middle of the contact pin for the air to flow, that's how juice got into the electronics.

The FDA may also put a big dent in the vaping industry as well. Ah... the times we live in. 😡

Tam reacted to FXRich in Batteries
The only reason I can see for a mod maker to recommend using a certain brand of battery is probably the same reason Chevy recommends using a Delco battery and Ford recommends using a Motorcraft, there is probably some kind of Corporate connection. I use mostly Kanger mods, and the instructions say to use a suitable 18650 30A battery, I use LG HG2 batteries that are rated at 20A, continuous. Kanger doesn't say 30A continuous or pulse. (I haven't blown myself up yet) The brand of battery doesn't matter as much as the quality of the battery, Samsung, LG, and Sony all make quality batteries.

"Squonk" is just another word for "squeezing the bottle."

I vote for Vapor Talk, which is not on your list, but is the place where you posted your poll...

Tam got a reaction from Walt in Battery heating up
See what happens when I don't Google the mod first? I automatically assumed it was a regulated mod. Thanks, @Walt, for the correction!
Now that I know it's a mech, it's that much more critical and very important to stop using it if it's heating up as much as you say. Time to research how to use a mech before something goes wrong. Glad you came here to ask questions!

Tam reacted to Walt in Battery heating up
Sorry about the delay,
This is a mech or mechanical mod. It has no circuit board and no safety protections. It is basically a battery, a switch, and the coil you build. The only safety protection you have is your knowledge of electrical characteristics of the coil and the battery. The understanding of both Ohm's law and Watt's law are necessary.
Please start with watching the videos here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCePHh3NMvu3rW2LFJeOWo-Q
This gentleman is known as battery mooch and is probably your best source for learning what you need. After gaining an understanding of the physics involved you can use this website to assist you in designing coils for the device: http://www.steam-engine.org/wirewiz.html
The kit you have can be a wonderful device but it can also be hazardous if you do not know what you are doing.

What resistance is your coil and how many watts are you using on it?
-
Tam reacted to Walt in Keep an eye on your GeekVape Gbox. Hazardous failure mode!
You nailed that! Exactly! This scenario has the potential to be catastrophic. I also wonder if there is a chance this could happen while the mod is unattended. Glad it wasn't in my pocket. That would have just burned my arse!

Tam got a reaction from Blair Vernon in HI I am Blair
Hi Blair. As I tell all non-smokers who are interested in vaping... not all long term studies have been done to assess whether vaping is completely safe or not. I would strongly suggest vaping for a smoker trying to quit, but for a non-smoker? My suggestion would be to not start vaping, but find something else that would interest you with possibly less chance of harming your health. Just my two cents.

Tam got a reaction from Christopher in Concern.
Much like smoking cigarettes when they first came out, there isn't any long term studies on the effects of vaping so we won't know if there will be any adverse consequences down the road.
If you're not a smoker trying to quit smoking cigarettes, and you're only wanting to start vaping to fit in with your co-workers or because it looks "cool." I would strongly recommend you find a different hobby, other co-workers who might have similar interests as you, and stay away from something that, although we believe it's safer than smoking, we still don't know the full effects it could have in the future.
That's my two cents. :)

Tam got a reaction from MRSpivey in New to box mods
If you change your settings from TC to watts, you might get a better vape from your mod and tank. I'd start around 20 watts and take a puff. If that's not doing it for you, go up a few watts and try again until you get a harsh vape or a slight burnt taste. Back it down a touch and you should have your sweet spot for that coil. Just a thought.

Tam got a reaction from MRSpivey in Dry Hits After Changing E-Liquids
Another thing you could try is to thin out your new eliquid. In your original post you said you used the 60VG/40PG with no problems. Your new juice is 70/30. If you can get some regular PG, I would take a little of the 70/30 juice and put it in a separate bottle to experiment so you don't screw up your whole bottle. If you don't have access to plain PG, get some distilled water (don't use tap), and add a few drops to 1 ml of eliquid and mix well. Then, try to vape to see if you're still getting dry hits. If so, add another few drops of distilled water to your eliquid and try again. I've done this with some of the old set ups when I first started vaping, it works well but you have to do it only a few drops at a time or you risk getting watery eliquid you can't fix or vape.

What kind of tank are you using this on? What resistance coil? Is it a premade coil or an RDA? If it's premade, did you prime the coil/wick before vaping?

What mg of nicotine are you using? Also, what's the PG/VG and flavor ratio?
