FXRich got a reaction from jasonculp in DNA 200 mod differences
Technology is moving pretty fast, like computers in the 80s and 90s, you could buy a new computer and before you got it home it was obsolete. I think the same thing is happening to vaping technology right now. might be next year the DNA might be obsolete. But I'm like you I have no use for a 100w mod much less a 200w mod. I have noticed when SS 316l is dry burned the ohms change from 0.5 to 0.7 and I don't even get it red hot. just until it starts to change color, and I only do it on a new coil to make sure its clean, I only use 7watts when I do it.

I didn't really want to bring up a different mod, but I have been looking at the new Kanger Kbox 75 TC due out after the first of the year. Its supposed to use Ti Infineon chips made in USA, and its TC function is good for Ni200, Ti, SS, and NiCr. It uses a single 18650 and is about the same size as the VTC mini. They are also coming out with a 120w, and 200w version that uses 2 18650 batteries, which I don't care for because of the size.

I guess SS 430 is usable for TC, but from what I hear the mods that will do SS are set up for a 316l curve. If you go to steam you can download the right TC curve for a DNA 200.

0.32 mm is 28 gauge 0.40 mm is 26 gauge a 5/4 wrap on 3mm gives me a 0.5 ohm coil, works really good in my Kanger RBA heads.

You will like SS 316L wire, I have been using it a little over a week now. Its a little softer than Kanthal, but not near as soft as Ni200 its very easy to work with. The only time I dry burn it is when I build a new coil, and then just long enough so it quits smoking, not red hot. The nice thing about SS 316L is you can use it for TC and also dry burn if you want, Ni and Ti should not be dry burned. I only have 28g SS 316L and really like it, easy to work with and no taste. I may start using it exclusively.

I hope you have luck kicking the stinkies habit, vaping did it for me. You would have been better off with a regulated mod rather than a mechanical like you have, but with the savings by quitting cigarettes you should be able to get one before very long.

I have been trying SS416l 28 g the past few days. I made a .5ohm coil for my Subtank RBA, it vapes really good, and good flavor. So far I haven't seen a downside to it. I normally don't dry burn but I did it out of curiosity, when I did I noticed the resistance went from .5 to .7 but after it cooled it went back down to .5 I guess that's why it can be used for TC. It seems to be easier to work with than Kanthal, not very springy at all. I might start using it exclusively because it can be used for power mode or TC mode.

It might be a bad coil, the coils that come with tanks are sometimes bad.

As you get more flavors you will experiment more. Last week I ran out of one of the flavors I vape, I had a orange cream that I added a little extra orange to because I liked dreamsicle bars. To substitute I mixed regular orange with vanilla custard and it tasted better than the orange cream I used before. I usually vape 5 - 6 different flavors every day, it doesn't get boring that way.

Welcome to the vape world, but you got to be careful you don't get that affliction known as Shinyitus, very common to people who vape its not hazardous to your health but its very hazardous to your wallet, a lot of us have it.

I was hoping it would have a SS mode for TC, but if it don't I can live with that. The preorder didn't say much more than 60w TC which is exactly what the NEBOX has. $46.00 isn't that bad of a price for a 60w TC mod with or without SS TC mode. Just wish it would get here sooner, haven't got a tracking number yet.

When that Sampan from China gets here I will try TC, I have a IR temp sensor so hopefully I can check the actual temp that the coil is running at. I'm also looking at the new Kanger 120w, and the 200w mods. supposedly they are good for Ti, Ni, SS, and NiCR in TC mode, They are due out in January. I don't think I'll need 120 watts much less 200 watts. Being that they use dual  18650 batteries they are a bit larger than I want, but will make a good at home Mod.

Everybody prefers what they like, I have heard that the SS coils have a cleaner taste, and don't require a break in period. I do know that Kangers new round coils for their Subtanks are going to be SS. I am waiting to get some 28g SS416L in vape mail, and will find out if I like SS.

Another option would be to put cotton in the RBA that came with the kit, there are numerous videos on the net explaining how to do it. The RBA comes with a .5 coil installed, but no cotton. Of course you will have to use wattage mode. What I like about using the RBA is you never have to buy another coil. But you may buy a extra RBA.

This makes sense to me.  It seems I run a higher wattage, lower nicotine, and vape a whole lot more of the High VG juices.  I am kinda strange in the fact that I seem to have more issues in my throat with higher VG juices than I do with high PG juices.  I don't have pain, or problems, but will start to loose my voice on days where I am chain vaping.  It also could be that I am not drinking enough water.  I tend to drink much less when I am working in the store.  I also drink much more coffee.  When I am on the road, I am a water recycling machine.  I feel guilty stopping at a convenience store to get rid of the last bottle of water that I drank, so I buy another, and the cycle continues all day, and into the night.
I also have a lot of trouble in the summer with my 50/50 juices due to the high temperature in the car.  I can't take my mod out of the car and into a plant, or a customers' place, so I leave it in the car.  I have learned to store them tank down in an insulated can coozie in my cup holder.  It isn't perfect, but it is better than coming back to the car and finding it all leaked into my mod and cup holder.  This time of the year the problem will be the opposite and my juice will get so thick, that it won't wick properly.

I'm not a scientist so I can't explain why but humidity also plays a role in vaping, when the humidity changes so do the settings, at least it happens to me. It may only change the settings a little but it still changes.

I tried a tight fitting wick a couple of times but seem to get a burnt taste after 2 or 3 hits. Right now I use watts but once my TC mod gets here I will probably try a tighter wick with TC maybe that might make a difference. Right now I use a snug fit. That pre order Kanger TC mod hasn't shipped yet so it will be a few weeks before I can try it.

If you are curious you can put your Subvod tank on your box mod, and try it at 12 watts. Just don't try it at 60 watts you will burn the coil out real fast.

The difference between the square coils and the round coils is the round are the newest coil kanger makes and I think they use SS416L coils where the square use a Nichrome coil. I think that is the difference but could be wrong. The Subvods I see for sale on the net have the shorter tank but if yours came with a Nano that's a plus. And like Comp said don't use the Ni200 coil in watt mode, and since the Subvod don't have TC don't use it.
After looking on Sweetvapes I see their Subvod uses the new top fill Nano tank, hard to keep up with everything.

I have used it in a genne, a KPT head and a dripper, it was even worse in the tanks. I did not come to my conclusions for a lack of trying. I really was hoping for better results.

The SSOCC coils in 0.15ohm are suppose to be Ni200, and the 0.5, 1.2, and the 1.5ohm are SS according to advertising I have seen. I like the size of the Subox mini, The Subox Platinum TC is the same size but 60w instead of 50w. I got one of those coming on a slow boat from China.
One of the things that turned me off about the NEBOX is no adjustable airflow.

I have found more cons than pros for titanium and nickel but for ss i have found very little but also ss is used to cook the food you eat!
And thats why its either kanthal or ss for me. I was in the vape shop looking at mods and the ss feature on tc was the tipping point for me, had to have it!
