  1. I just cant get the same hit from my temp controlled coils that I can from Kanthal. With kanthal dual coils, .3ohm 26g at 70 watts was a nice dense warm tasty vape. With my Temp control building dual coils, .1 28g at 450F and 50 Joules I get decentish vapor, flavor is ok the first hit, but then its just bland and falls flat. Just seems like its missing something. Not satisfying at all. Just built a .35 ohm 26G dual setup with Kanthal and at 50 watts it is so much better. I really want to use temp control, but it just isnt working out for me just yet. hers a shot of my latest tc coil...
  2. It looks like redripping would be a pain as well. I can imagine dripping through the drip tip and just coating the blades rather than the wicking.
  3. yup, smiling all the way. Just rebuilt it but used N80 for the twists. vape seems the same, but the Ohms are .15 now rather than .22. Thinking I may want to put the other one back on. Good thing about this coil is it is so freaking beefy it didnt deform at all when I pulled it out so I can re-use it.
  4. So I finally did it. a couple weeks ago someone posted about the Twisted Messes RDA and in the pic there was this awesome looking coil installed. I bought the RDA that day and finally built that first coil I saw installed in it. This coil is twisted 28G / 5 strips of .5mm flat stacked / twisted 28G then stapled with 32G. twisted 4 times on a 1/8 drill. Clocks in at .22 ohms. takes about 1.5 seconds to heat up on my Sigelei 100+ set at 80W. Flavor is freaking phenomenal and vapor is pretty darn good as well. Took about 20 mins to make the coil but it was well worth it.
  5. If you do, post it. Im sure people like me would buy it....
  6. Built new coils out of 28G. dual parallel 7 wraps around a 1/8 drill. Came out to .4ohms. but I had to turn down my wattage quite a bit as it was scorching my juice. I was also looking for more surface area to the coil. So I pulled that and built it out of 24G same drill 7 wraps. .21... Thinking I'm going to get some 22g on friday.
  7. ok, well I just pulled the coils and will build new ones in the morning. Thanks.
  8. not trying to be an ***, but arent VTC4's 30 amp continuous? http://www.myvaporstore.com/SONY-VTC4-18650-2000mAh-Battery-Flat-Top-30A-p/sny65020-f.htm
  9. All righty then. Ill rebuild in the morning. Thanks guys. According to Steam Engine 7 wraps of parallel 28G will be .4 or 5 wraps of the same will be .3. Ill measure them before I fire them.
  10. I have a Sigelei 100+ mod with two VTC4 batts in it. My current build is .15ohm. Looking at steam engine that should be fine as I have a 20% headroom, but since my mod is dual batts, that is actually 40% headroom right? I have read ohms law, and every other sticky I can find on multiple forums, and I think I know what Im doing. I do know that even when I ran it at 90watts the batts never got warm, but then I started thinking... Just wanted to check with smarter people than I on this. I normally build at .25 to .5, but I was playing with 24g Parallel build and ended up with a .15ohm dual coil set up. I have never been able to comfortably run higher than 60w with my normal builds but this thing is sweet all the way up. yes I know Im really representing my user name by asking this, but I just dont wanna end up with a hand full of F**k here.
  11. Well, Im pulling my braided coil out today if that tells you anything... To darn hot. I cant take more than two or three hits before the driptip darn near burns my lips. I have been playing with various parallel coils and like them. they dont seem to spit as much, and have a nice smooth vape with plenty of flavor. Single strand coils I get a lot of spitting, Braided are to hot, claptons spit to much... Im sure its not the coils, but something Im doing wrong, but for me it seems parallels are the best.
  12. Just made a braided coil... 6 strands of 28G wrapped 5 times around a 1/8 drill bit. .23 ohms. flavor is great, vapor prodiction is outstanding. Only issue now is that it gets HOT!! vaping at 40 watts and after about a 5 second lung hit the drip tip is rather hot. I cant take more than 2 or 3 hits before I have to let it cool off.
  13. So its the dark side is it?? Where are the cookies....
  14. yes its fixed. has been for a while. Vape on brother, vape on.
  15. put a meter on your coil. it may be reading just a touch below .3. there is a little deviance from the factory quite often.
  16. Well, I believe the difference is about 40 dollars... I cant remember who makes it, but I think it was yinglong or some crazy chinese company. Couple things I need to fix with it the screws that come with it are just a bit to long. when you have then installed and holding the coil wires in when you close the top cap it will not close all the way as the negative screws are long and hit it. Also the oring around the base of the top cap is a bit thick and it is a beast to get that closed. I plan on filing down the screws a touch and going to the hardware store and getting a slightly thinner Oring. But overall i do like it. Makes reloading the dripper a touch easier. just pop the top back with my thumb, and dripp! It is also set up like the Kenedys, the airholes are at the base of it and are vertical channels that sit right below the coils. this is my first setup like this.
  17. So I just got a new clone today, the Mad Hatter. Different than my others as the top pops open like a zippo. built dual coils of 24g Kanthal came out to .23Ohms. wicked it and juiced it and it seems to vape pretty damn good. Currently runing it at 65w on my Silelei 100w+. Now for the pics because I know how this goes, no one cares about the words, they just want the pics!
  18. So this has just been one of those days that I want to go back to bed and get a re-do on. the bright part of the day was I got my brand new FUhattan clone and a new Omega dripper for it. loaded it up with a purple Efest and was really enjoying it. The wife has been harping on me for a few weeks to move the woodpile that was at the end of the driveway to the back of the shed where we store wood for the winter. No problem. I slipped my new mod in my back pocket and went out to work. about 2 hours later I was done with the small pieces and had a number of large pieces I needed to split. grabbed my 20lb Splitting maul and a wedge and took after the splitting. And thats when the Universe said "NOPE!" As I was swinging the maul for all I was worth my foot slipped o a piece of wood underfoot. Swing went off and the maul glanced off the edge of the wedge. I managed to yank my leg outta the way but saw my new FUhattan on the ground... A split second before my Maul made contact.... Huge dent and hole in the side of it right near the middle. I heard a hissing and crackling and knew the battery was doing bad things. Kicked the mod into the center of the gravel driveway and watched as it lit on fire. Not as spectacular as I would have liked to see, but the mod and dripper are totally trashed. And to top it off my neighbor was watching and said "Yea, those things are never safe. Only idiots use them." I asked him to get me any of his "Safe" battery powered devices and to let me smash it with batteries in it and we would see just how safe HIS things were. His wife threw a can of soda at him and told him to shut his mouth and get inside then asked me if I was ok. I told her just my pride was hurt... So yea, this is just one of the things from today... Can I please have a do-over?
  19. Dude.. red vines are WAY better than those strawberry flavored twizzlers... Gonna have to look for this juice now. Hmm...
  20. Are you copying me? Just playing. Enjoy it. I love mine.
  21. Question about that last coil.. if you moved the positive wires tot he opposit holes couldnt you center the coils a bit more in the deck for better airflow across the coils?
  22. Also you may want to take a q-tip and wipe off the center pin on both the mod and the tank. I didnt realize but i got a little juice on one and after it dried out I wasnt getting good contact.
