This is to help you play catch up on what the veterans know.

Basic ecig Parts

A.) Cartridge - holds the ejuice and is also a mouth piece. this part can be replaced with a drip tip and is what most do
B.) Atomizer - has an element that heats up the ejuice and as you pull air threw it vapor is produced.
* sub B section - you can also use cartomizers, they are atomizers with filler to hold juice and are a tad shorter in size.
C.) battery - these will be 3.7v Lithium Ion batteries, they supply the power to the atomizer. they come in auto (activated by suction) or manual (activated by button)

Common Ecigs


What's the best ecig
This is more dependent on how you vape and your needs for vapor, throat/lung hit, battery life needs and other factors.
Most people will advise the ego/tornado/riva as they all have a nice battery life and are built good (ego being the favorite of the three)
this is the ego mega and regular batteries with manual buttons


Ecig Model Numbers
These are based on the atomizer they use
when one says 510 kit, they generally are referring to the cigarette shaped ecig. like the first picture of this post.

Why we tell you not to get cigarette shaped ecigs
A cigarette shaped battery runs $12 for a normal manual 510

9hrs at $20 (ego battery) 540mins
45mins (510 kit battery) 540 ÷ 45 = 12
12 (batteries) x $12 = $144

so for mAh (Milliamp hours), it is a lot less expensive to buy a larger battery.
this will also keep you from having to buy more batteries. explained after next set of math.

510 kit batteries needed for 9hrs
9hrs (540mins) ÷ (45min run time + 2hr charge time = 165mins) = 3.272727273 batteries needed to run 9hrs on 510 kit
3 x $12 = $36 - 1 ego battery = $20 = $16 saved. that is initial cost only!!

45min x 2 is what you have ready to go after your first needs charged (90mins).
your first battery is going to take 2hrs to charge so by the time you run out the other two the first is done charging.
so just to keep going you would need at bare minimum you want two 510 chargers, this means more $$.
why you ask? at night when you don't have a single battery to use, you will only be able to charge 1 while you sleep. it would be more ideal to have 3 or one of the larger chargers that do more than one and have no less than 10 batteries ready to go.
on top of this when you go out you will have a pocket full of batteries, making this not a very portable device to bring with you.

other than that you have to recharge more often and the more you charge the more you replace. batteries have an # of recharges before they start failing to keep their charge. now you may say by logic that you are only charging once on those small batteries in that 9hr time, so there isn't an issue on life, BUT, the smaller the battery the less times you can charge it before the failing starts. also consider that you have 3 batteries that will fail

First Order
When you get an ecig make sure that you have spares of everything.
the atomizers, cartomizers, batteries, and juice are all going to need purchased at some point again.
Your first cart should consist of NO LESS than, 5 atomizers, 2 packs of cartomizers (5 in a pack), your kit, 2 extra batteries (i would advise mega batteries), 1 extra charger, and a nice amount of juice.
the last thing you want is to have to wait on something you didn't buy enough of to come in. if one thing is missing you will go right back to smoking, nobody wants that.

Mods and Why
Mods are usually over looked or not even known to noobies of the ecig world.
these devices can be anywhere from 3.7v to 8.4v.
the point is that some people need one of two things, longer battery life with less cost and/or an aggressive throat hit.
as a newbie i wouldn't advise a mod above 3.7v that doesn't have the option to go as low as 4.2v
if it is not a variable voltage you are stuck on that till you get something lower if you don't like it.
i say 4.2v because any 3.7v battery charges UP TO 4.2v. most people love vaping that initial fresh charged battery. voltage drops after usage to as low as 2.9v

Mods will use batteries like these

these are all 3.7v batteries with a much longer charge life vs a kit ecig.
you can find almost all of these batteries from US suppliers for $5 each.
a 3.7v mod using the largest battery (18650) can last you 4+ days @ $8 for the battery.

some mods can last up to 4+ days before needing to be recharged.

I'm not going to go into mods or pictures of mods. you can do that on your own, also watch youtube videos about the mods before thinking its large.

Really cheap but not sure with that gold band they are authentic. Have to give them a whirl and report back.

Get a kit, then also get some juice, I recommend right here at vaportalk or wordupecig. Also get a few cartomizers. Try carts, direct dripping and cartos and report back. If something's wrong we'll help.

With that list your pretty much ready to go. Be sure you purchase a genuine Joye Tech eGo from some of the more well known suppliers. The cheap knock off models don't last very long before they start crapping out

I received a generous sample of Dulcis today from VT and after trying it I'm glad Christopher was so generous. I am not a fan of tobacco flavors, I did like JC Tenn. Cured at first then as my taste returned and I discovered that sweet stuff is really good to vape I lost my taste for it. This being said I read all the reviews on this one and decided early on that I would not like it. Dulcis raves all over the place so I figured I was not going to be the outsider, the girl who never tried Dulcis. Well it's very good. Softly sweet, flavor is very full without any harshness on inhale, the tobacco kicks in very slightly on exhale but not in a heavy-handed way. TH is nice at 16mg and the vapor is very good for PG. I also noticed no aftertaste even after 2 1/2 hours. I'm very pleased with this, it hasn't overtaken White Zin or Midnight for me but is on my big bottle list. If I had one complaint about this it would be that I'm going through it too fast, this will not be in my emergency supply. Those are the ones I can tolerate while waiting for good stuff but not enough to use regularly. Shoo in for big bottle list.

I had exactly the same experience with the Blu. Went to 510 mega now eGo XL with jumbo atty, NO desire to smoke. I was a 1 1/2 PAD smoker for 35 years and I didn't want to quit I really enjoyed it. Now I'm not missing it a bit. The wide variety of flavors is mind boggling and so much fun trying them out. So glad you didn't give up my hubby even quit after he saw me having success with this. I never got excited about analogs but can hardly wait for new juices or toys to come in the mail and being able to switch flavors to match my mood is not only cool but very relaxing. You will not regret soldering on.

Every time I go shopping, things are called something else because something new has been added to the list. But, I feel safe in saying that my first one was a Jumbo.. or Monster... eGo atty from WU. It rocked, until I used it up. It took over 60 drops the first fill, and over 20 from then on.
I'm now on one from goodprophets.com and it rocks too. I think they call it eGo Mega Atty. Open the page and if it says it takes 2ml... then that's the one!

Nana~ they also finally have Mega drip tips too for these and they are sweet! After they get going, they don't seem to need as much eliquid to keep going... it has a bigger pan perhaps? These Mega attys are like putting 2 or 3 attys in a bundle and firing up.

Wordup has them go to 510 atty and you can choose from drop down between reg. or mega. They also have jumbos in stock. I think by amount of juice it's a jumbo. I stopped counting at 40 drops. Monster vapor with eGo. The mega is a longer 510 atty and it doesn't hold nearly as much, you need the jumbo or mega carts for them depending on which one you get. The jumbo is the same diameter as the eGo carto. You don't use a cone with the jumbo. I like the way it looks too.

Welcome and yes they can be refilled but with a warning. DO NOT OVERFILL! the Blu batteries are not sealed so juice dripping in it can fry it. You just pull ot the clear plastic container inside which holds the filler. Soak them both in hot water and remove as much of the foil on the edges as possible. When the filler is dry drip 2 drops into the container and carefully replace the filler, then drop by drop wet the filler. If you overfill you will get juice in your mouth! then put filled container back into cart and place atty on, I use a straightened paperclip to push up the cart through the hole in mouth piece, not hard just gentle push. I use this method when I want to try a new juice, I use my 510 they work together, and voila. With the Blu be very careful as the battery can be damaged by liquid. The attys on the Blu are really nice little units and work hard but you need to use Blu carts on them. It can be done and I have done it but remember not to overfill, if you have a puddle on top you will get juice in your mouth.

Hi James, I ditto B80. Hang in there. This is a transition and it takes a little time for things to fall into place. I've received e-liquid I swore I was going to trash right away. But after reading a bit on the forum about e-liquid and reading some of the e-liquid reviews, what I did (this is just me) was do or die vape it for at least a day. What often happened is that the flavor began to grow on me. In the beginning our tastebuds are pretty dead and our sense of smell is off or even non-existent. What I thought was awful now tastes great and what I thought was great is, well, I certainly won't order it a second time! I guess vaping is a choice. Honestly, I don't know what I'd be doing if I still had to smoke analogs. Please let us know how it goes. There's a lot to think about, do and learn in the beginning. It will work if you want it to!

Please don't give up yet. I honestly believe that vaping is for ANYONE who smokes. It took me a few months to totally quit the analogs, I thought that vaping wasn't for me either, but I just kept trying and now I'm a vaping fiend, LOL. Check out www.juicyvapor.com. I had to try all kinds of flavors to find my faves. My friend who introduced me to vaping swore that I would ONLY like tobacco flavors, since I smoked Camel Lights. As it turns out, my husband and I both prefer the more fun fruity flavors.

another thought is that it might be the primer on your new atty giving you a bad first impression. Pick up some 510 carto's with soft tops and see if they taste better. Until then, blow out the atty, let it drain on a kleenex/paper towel, re prime with 2 or 3 drops of eliquid, prime puff it like a pipe, re drip... now inhale.

This one has been my favorite until I tried WU white zin. This is 24mg VG with eGo. Still love it, sweet and tastes like Coke on inhale and then the rum comes on at exhale. Doesn't clobber my throat very sweet and smooth. Still on my favorites list. I also tried WU Pina Colada and Belgium chocolate, the chocolate is growing on me, I still think it's a hard flavor to capture, mixed with some WU Double Mint and that one is so minty and fresh it really perked up the chocolate. Not really tasting the pineapple in the Pina Colada but it reminds me of the toasted coconut marshmallows I loved as a kid. I can really taste the coconut which I happen to love. I ordered more WU white zin in 18mg VG/PG mix just to try it out. I also ordered some Carnival and Whisker licker in mix at 18mg from Hot Vapes. Chicago company so I thought I'd give them a try. My VT Midnight is almost gone, I used a pretty fair amount of it but hubby has fallen in love with it. I hid the sample of white zin cause he really liked that too. I asked Jeffery for a sample of butterscotch so I can review that too while I'm deciding if I go all VG or mix. each has pros and cons so maybe I can find my Nirvana.

Thats the good thing about vaping. Once you try another analog it just tastes like crapola. I'm glad to hear your sticking with vaping.

I worked midnights for years in an ER and several times thought I saw a man standing outside of one of the exam rooms, it always looked like he was reflected in the glass and he was just there then image gone. This room was visible from nurses station and had a wall across from it, one night I looked up and I could clearly see a tall elderly African-American man wearing a suit standing there. He was so real looking I got up to see who he was and he just disappeared. I looked down the hall into a couple of rooms and figured I was just tired. I walk back to nurses station and the doc says what were you doing Sis, I say oh I thought I saw someone standing by room 6 but I didn't. He says an older black man wearing a suit? I nearly fell over since I never said a word about this, one of the other girls pipes up yeah I've seen him a few times. One of the old-timers walks by and says oh he won't bother you I've been seeing him for about 10 years. I think he's the same ghost that's in the back elevator, you know the little car you don't like to get in. I freaked, I always had the willies in that elevator car and at times had thought I saw a reflection of someone in there with me in the windows across the hall. I have never felt comfortable in that car and still don't. Neither do a lot of the other employees none of whom I have shared this with.

What ticks me off is that ecigs have to be "formally proven" on paper to say they work to quit smoking, yet cigarettes are accepted and ap-proved to knowingly kill you.
I would like to think that the FDA has a war on their hands if they ban ecigs, because it would clearly make NO SENSE!

Hi Dude, I'm sure the vapers who use an eGo xl will chime in eventually. I can't help you there. Regarding your charging battery, I would say a too hot battery is not normal. I've been charging 510 and eGo batteries for several months now, and have never noticed that they are too hot. Are you getting an odor of any kind? Idk, by this time I hope it has worked out for you. Let us know otherwise, tho.

The mega attys do not have a seperate cone - it's all one piece. You can use a regular 510 on the battery, with or without a cone (so yes, if you want a cone, you'd need to buy one). Where did you get your kit? I haven't seen any kits that some with the mega attys instead of the regular atty and cone.
