  1. Yep, it's all about regulation and control by "preferred" vendors/suppliers... AKA, those that have the best lobby in DC, or own/bought a few politicians... The second part of this all boils down to insane tax rates on cigarettes and tobacco products, which are the driving force pushing people towards vaping (or quitting all-together). The gov't is not getting the revenue from cigarettes they did before the 2009 SCHIP tax increase of $0.61/pack; therefore, they want/need another source of revenue. Vaping is an up-and-coming group of products, and since you "can" obtain nicotine via vapor, the tobacco companies, FDA, Surgeon General, CDC, and DC's finest nannies ALL presume they can regulate/tax vaping to the full extent they currently tax all other tobacco products... to secure their next few decades of revenue! You know... because "it's for the children, and public-health, and public-safety... and for the children" (yes I repeated that on purpose).

  2. Go nuts and get lots of different types of drip tips! I have a bunch of colored ones so I know what juice is in the tank. My favorites are the Pyrex glass and the stainless steel 2 inch pipe style drip tips. :)

    That's not a huge issue for me at the moment... I'm only running two main flavors, and a granny-smith apple to "cleanse my pallet". But, using different colors is a really good idea for keeping things straight as I try more flavors! Thanks for the tip (pun intended :) )

    Now I have the excuse to buy more tanks, and a bunch of drip-tips ;)

  3. You're getting an AeroTank for your APV... an awesome tank, IMO... But, don't dismiss the KPT2. They are also a fantastic performer, and with an AeroBase added to them, just makes them that much better!

    I love the hard-lines and "industrial" look of the AeroTank, as well as the flat-top and straight drip-tip, but the smooth lines, curved top, and "shapely" drip-tip of the KPT2 isn't bad to look at either... (as well as being comfortable for your mouth)

  4. An EVOD kit with two batteries should also come with enough coils (atomizer heads) to keep you vaping for several weeks... your only expense after purchasing the kit, will be your e-juice while you "find your flavors".

    I also highly recommend the kit Jeffb suggested... If you don't feel comfortable with a variable-voltage spinner battery, they also have kits with static-3.7V Kanger batteries too... in different sizes (mAh). They are a little cheaper too, and function quite well, even for a non-noob :)

  5. Well said Bebop... I second the recommendation for a Kanger EVOD starter kit... either with the standard 650mAh batteries or 1000mAh twists. If I'm not mistaken, these kits come with everything you need, including 5 or 7 atomizer coil/heads... Just buy your e-juice and you'll be on your way!

    There are other good starter kits out there, too... but the EVOD kits are probably the best 'bang-for-your-buck'.

  6. I just bought three AeroBases on a whim, since they were on sale... basically a buy 2 get 1 free deal. My intention was to have spares for my AeroTank, and to TRY one on my KPT2's...

    WOW, Glad I took everyone's advice and tried one on my KPT2! They're like a whole new tank with the AeroBase...

    Next time I find a good deal on AeroBases, I guess I'll have to stock up, because I plan to pick up a few more KPT2's when I can catch them on sale :)

  7. Well, it's good to know that it is a workhorse, regardless of the 18650 battery you're using...

    And, sorry Troy, I didn't mean to insult you, nor imply you were stacking ... I was only asking for clarification, and mostly interested in the brand / mAh you were using in your VTR. As I plan to get one soon, knowing which battery performs well would be a good piece of info to have :)

  8. Good to know on the VTR... I don't have one yet, but plan to get one in a few months (maybe/hopefully). Based on this info, I think it would be a good idea to hang onto my remaining 2.2 Ohm coils, at least until I start building my own.

    BTW, I just test-fit a single-coil with my freshly cleaned PT3 Mini... it does NOT work :( .

    The silicone "cap" over the wick/coil is too short to reach/seal the center-tube... would be a leakage disaster had I filled it....

    So, looks like I'll need to keep a box or two of 1.5 Ohm dual-coils handy for my PT3 Minis!

    Thanks for all the input, everyone... I'll be placing an order for 1.8 Ohm single-coils, and 1.5 Ohm dual-coils, within the next week or two.

  9. Sadly, even "good" equipment can fail, too, but not as fast, often, or violently as the cheap-o's.

    This is the one thing that does bother me about my eGo chargers... both have brand-markings, both have model numbers, but neither have UL certification... as is the case with MOST things from China. This is why I only charge them when I can watch them, check them often for heat build-up, and plug them into a protected outlet using a UL certified 120V AC > 5V DC @ 1A USB adapter (not my PC's USB port). I have also considered building my own "charging cage" for them as an extra precaution.... feeding voltage to a self-contained, shielded, protected, and insulated charging "box"... so if something shorts or blows-up, the risk will be minimized.

  10. I still have more than a dozen coils for my Kanger tanks (different resistance, singles, and duals), but I have four or fewer of any single form/resistance left. So, right now I'm trying to narrow down what to buy in bulk, before I run out, which will keep me happy, AND keep me from having to keep up with 4-5 different coils.

    Right now, I'm liking the 1.8 Ohm single coils, and the 2.2 Ohm aren't bad at all, but use my battery faster because I have to run higher Wattage for them. I saw no advantage with the 2.5 Ohm coil, and haven't tried the 1.5 Ohm coils. So, I'm thinking 1.8 Ohm will be my choice for a single-coil....

    For my dual coils... the 1.5 Ohm are better on battery life (and work better with my PT3 Minis on an eGo), but the the 2.0 Ohm seem to give a slightly better vape with my AeroTank, despite higher drain on the battery? (I've not tried 1.8 Ohm duals).

    Now, I understand that I can use the single-coil in my AeroTank, right?

    Can I use a single-coil in my PT3 minis? I've not tried it yet... didn't want to risk catastrophic leakage :D

    I have no issues with keeping up with single/dual coils, but I don't feel it necessary to try to keep up with a box of each resistance AND each form-factor.

    I primarily use my larger tanks (KPT2/AeroTank) with my MVP 2.0, and my Mini KPT2's and KPT3's with my eGo-style batteries for portability / form-factor.

    So, If I can use single-coils with my PT3 Minis, I think I'll be satisfied with running 1.8 Ohm single-coils in all my tanks. If I have to use dual-coils with the PT3 Mini, that's cool, too. I'll just keep a box or two 1.5 Ohm dual-coils on hand?

    Is my logic sound? Is there an advantage to using a 2.2 Ohm single over the 1.8 Ohm that I'm missing? Or should I just stock-up on the 1.8 Ohm singles (and 1.5 Ohm duals, if I can't use singles in the PT3 Mini)?

  11. I was not a fan of the iClear 30 tank that came with my MVP 2.0, but that's just my opinion...

    I primarily use Kanger's ProTank2 and AeroTank on my MVP and have no complaints with their function or performance.

    I can't comment on the others, because I don't own them, lol...

  12. Troy brings up a good point, and I totally agree that the volume you smoked per day will also affect it your e-juice nicotine-level needs.

    Obviously, you were getting more nicotine as a 2-pack-a-day smoker of Camel unfiltered, than a 1/2 pack Marlboro Ultra-lights.

    How you smoke(d) makes a difference in how much nicotine your body was actually receiving:

    • Did you take full lung hits, puffs, or let them burn in the ashtray?
    • Did you smoke 100's, 110's, 120's?
    • Did you burn them to the filter, or snub them out at the half-way point?

    But, I think what everyone is trying to say is that these are starting-point suggestions, because there is NO correlation-chart that says "you smoked 18 cigarettes of brand-X @ Y-strength, so you should have 2.9-ml per day of 16.4mg strength nicotine e-juice".

    It's not an exact science, and your individual needs/tastes will vary... which is part of the fun :)

  13. Personally, I still draw in to the mouth for a good mouthful, then continue the inhale with "air" to "wash it down"... much like I smoked analogs.

    One thing affecting your throat-hit is the pg %. Higher pg give a harder throat-hit (and drier throat). Higher vg content give more vapor. Coil resistance and wattages/voltage combos will affect this as well. But I've no clue why you get more vapor by taking a straight inhale, compared to mouth-first... unless your inhale hit is longer and stronger (more volume) as a whole, by comparison? I mean, your mouth is only so big, compared to your lung-capacity, right?

  14. I agree... I would never live in NY or CA... and I'm not really a fan of any of the nanny-states on the East or West coast... (or upper IL)

    I think what bothers me more than anything is the stupidity and arrogance of the "council" to set regulations on something they are not experts on, nor do they have any hard, empirical evidence to prove / support their actions. This is the number one problem with our politicians... STOP TRYING TO BE MY MOMMY!

    And if I hear one more time... "for the kids"... I may have to go back to strangling hookers :)

  15. 18 would be a good start... but some people need to start higher, say, 24mg...

    The consensus is normally as follows:

    24mg = Full flavor cigarettes/cigars (Marlboro Red, Camel, Swisher-sweets, etc)

    18mg = Lights

    12mg = Ultra Lights

    6mg = Super Ultra Lights

    0mg = Kinda obvious :)

    If 24mg is too much, but 18 is too little, buy the same juice in 24mg and 18mg and mix them 1:1 (or blend flavors in the same manner) to get ~21mg of nicotine.

    I smoked standard cigars, which were high in nicotine content, but found that 24mg was too high for me in e-juice. 18mg seems to be just right... and in some juices, I even have to cut the 18's down with lower nic levels or they give me a headache (buzz).

  16. To the OP...

    I understand your concerns for their safety, but I'm not sure I'd go the route of a safe, unless I had the need for one for my stocks, bonds, loose cash, and jewelry (not that I have any of those things, lol).

    But, if you want a reasonably secure "box", you might invest in a fire-proof document box... they lock, and nobody would think twice about one on the shelf. I do have a couple of those in the house... for deeds, titles, marriage/birth certificates, etc. Another option which would be inconspicuous would be a "money box"... cheap lock, yes, but still a lock.... and your juices would probably fit "upright" in it, to prevent any leakage from bad lids. Toss it in the closet, kitchen cabinet, or on a shelf and nobody would probably even notice it?

    One constant in the universe is that "locks keep honest people honest, but never stop the determined"... and sometimes a locked box/cabinet only piques curiosity.... like hanging a neon sign....

    I have teens in and out of my house too... my e-juice is on the shelf in my office, batteries on my desk, and even the liquor is unlocked (but in a cabinet out of the way of prying eyes)... Nobody has ever attempted to bother them. Then again, this is Kentucky... and we tend to leave shotguns on the kitchen table here too, :laughing::gun::lol:

    I guess I've got good kids (and their friends). They don't bother my guns (but know how to use them), drink my liquor, smoke my cigars (when I had them around), and they don't bother my e-cigs/e-juices.... They'd rather spend their on the computer, Xbox, PS3, or phone :)
