  1. I bought (ordered) a Titanium Blue MVP 2.0 w/ iClear 30 kit from the local B&M. They had them on sale for $40 out-the-door, but only had stainless steel in stock due to a shipping delay on black carbon, blue, and 'Energy' models. Their next shipment should be here on Tuesday ... can't wait to pick it up and try it out!

I also searched a couple of eBay auctions for spare coils (have plenty, but always check for auction for insane deals) when I ran across a couple of tank deals I couldn't pass up. I snagged a Kanger AeroTank Kit ($8) and ProTank 3 Mini ($5), both with free shipping. With any luck, they should be here on Tuesday as well! I'm also hoping the AeroTank will be a good match for the MVP 2.0.... The PT3 mini will be a spare for use with my pen-style batteries.

I dropped $53 on equipment this week, but considering I saved BIG bucks in the long-run... I'm a happy camper! Honestly, I'm set now on equipment for the next 4-6 months (good supply of atomizers and spare tanks)... and should be good on e-juice for the next month at least....

The best part... Even though I've invested about $150 in equipment for this "hobby" over the past 45 days, that's ~$3/day, and nowhere near what I would have spent on analogs over the same period! From here on in... costs will be e-juice and coils.... (that is, until I get the urge for another MOD, maybe a replaceable battery model like VTR or Vamo? lol)

  2. Yes, politicians are SUCH an authority on everything... (sarcasm).

Big tobacco is losing money by people quitting, and they are late to the party on e-cigs (Blu, Swisher, etc). They hate tank vapers because they're not getting any $ from it. Gov't is losing $ from sin-tax revenues due to decreased tobacco sales, which is why cigarette taxes have sky-rocketed in the past decade. All these things are tax-driven motivation to step on the vaping industry to demonize vaping, classify it as "unhealthy", and then they (gov't, FDA, EPA, etc.) can step in and regulate and tax the insustry to satisfy their desire for our tax-dollars.

I've tried Blu and Swisher e-cigars... they are decent for the first 5 puffs... and they cost as much (or more) as a pack of analogs, yet don't last as long. This is the reason I switched to a tank system. After initial invetment of equipment, I was happily vaping all week for less than the price of a pack of analogs!

This is why we must fight against gov't regulation and taxation of vape equipment and e-juices! The gov't cut their own throats by pushing to eliminate smoking, yet still relying on cigarette taxes as a major source of revenue. Now they're crying "foul" and looking for their next "demon" to capitalize on for tax revenue. They want to regulate nicotine and all the transfer devices... yet I've not seen the first FDA regulation or sin-tax on nicotine patches or nicotine gum... then again, sales of these items is nowhere near the sales (and taxation potential) of the vaping industry!

  3. Unfortunately, it is a common issue, not just for a vape-shop, for employees or owners to mis-quote (or lie) to a customer about "online prices" or even prices from competing businesses. For the mis-informed, low-info sheeple... this is a common tactic to make you think you're getting a deal from them. As I've always heard... stupidity has a premium price... so does impatience. :)

My local B&M has very little selection and is WAY overpriced on everything... equipment is usually 300-600% over online prices - for example, CE4 tanks online are roughly $1.20-1.50 each in bulk purchase, and they sell them for $8 each all day long - , so I don't buy from them when it comes to equipment. I have tried their juices, not bad, prices are a little steep over online+shipping (generally 50% over), but the worst part is they know NOTHING about the specs for equipment or juices they sell.

I buy online for nearly everything I want/need, and when I want e-juices or equipment TODAY, I'll drive 20-miles to a much better shop, which has greater selection of everything, and every employee knows their stuff, or has sense enough to ask someone else if they're not sure. Sure, their prices are higher than online (by 25% - 100%), but they do have overhead, and paying their mark-ups is not horrible for the convenience factor.

  4. The CE4/Stardust clearomizers are notorious for burnt tasting flavors and mediocre to downright bad performance in a short amount of time. You'd be much better off taking Bebop's advice and getting a better tank. :)

I agree, the CE4 tanks are okay, IMO, but don't last very long. They are disposable and handy to have around though :)

Like BeBop12 said, move up to a bottom-fill tank with replaceable atomizers and you'll probably be happier.

I'm a fan of Kanger tanks (prefer glass models), but everyone has a preference. If you like the 510 threading, check out iTaste's iClear series of tanks, but I think you'll really enjoy the original EVOD, EVOD2 Glass, Pro Tank 2 mini or PT3 Mini models as well. I have all the tanks I listed and really like the way they vape. For your pen-style eGo battery, try the 1.5 ohm dual-coils (for PT3 or EVOD2), as they seem to work better with the eGo pen-style batteries. If you go with single-coil tanks (like the PT2 mini or original EVOD), I've had good luck with 2.0 and 2.2 ohm coils on eGo pen-style batteries.

  5. The Lavatube isn't VW, only VV, correct? From what I've been reading, variable wattage is better for fine-tuning, right?

I really like the Tesla (and a big fan of of the man, lol), but as my wife pointed out... it looks too much like a vibrator, and I probably shouldn't be pulling that out in public :D

The Vamo looks nice in brushed stainless, is VV and VW, and I guess I can ask for one of those (and some spare batteries) for Christmas!

Thanks for the suggestions... looks like a Vamo is going onto my "WANT" list....

  6. Thanks for the insight and the link...

The price of $40 for the kit is available locally, so it makes sense to buy from the B&M shop to help keep them in business, and I'll not have to wait for delivery, lol.

So, that being said, I guess later this week I'll make a run to the shop and pick up the MVP 2.0 and some extra juices (and some spare 30-ml bottles for mixing flavors). The only problem with going to the retailer is that I go in, expecting to spend $15, and walk out with a big bag and even bigger dent in my wallet!

I really like the KangerTech tanks, and have plenty of spare atomizers on hand for them. I've heard good things on the Nautilus Aspire, and may pick one up... YAY, more $$ :) Does the Nautilus use the same atomizers as my Kangers, or will I be investing in even more "parts"?

  7. I order a LOT of things, not just vaping materials, from online sources. I like saving money, and waiting for the big, brown truck or postal delivery person is part of the fun :) Although I hate sellers that take a week to get something en-route :(

I still support my local B&M stores for many things, and I buy my e-juices and supplies locally - friendly people, good selection, reasonable prices.... If everyone ordered everything online, these stores could not stay in business, right?

  8. What I'd like to know is...how is heating flavoring, VG, PG and nicotine magically going to create formaldehyde? Don't you need a few more things in order get this new chemical?

Here's what I know about vaping: I feel better. It's improved my health that are measurable through proven scientific methods. I'm much happier when I vape.

And best of all, I don't feel the need to wring stupid people's necks when I'm too busy vaping.

    Best perk ever!

Formaldehyde (CH2O) is produced naturally in the atmosphere (90% of all atmostpheric Formaldehyde occurs naturally), and is a by-product of dozens of combustion and chemical processes. Humans metabolize formaldehyde quickly, so it does not accumulate, and is converted to formic acid in the body. (Yes, I am a chemist/biologist/physicist, with medical background, although I work in IT now :) )

So, yes, burning nearly any substance which contains Carbon "can" produce Formaldehyde, but the levels produced (by smoking, breathing smog, vaping, standing too close to a car's exhaust, etc.) are quickly converted by the body into Formic Acid and eliminated.

This is what I cannot stand about all these "Gloom and Doom" research papers (which are bought and paid for by special interest groups and gov't nannies).... Your drinking water contains "traces" of substances which will kill you dead if you ingest enough of it... for that matter, if I float somebody in a lake for a couple of weeks the volume of water absorbed by the skin would be enough to kill them, and not by drowning... Remember... LIVING is the slowest method of DYING!

I rate a lot of these so-called research studies right up there with agenda-pushing "science" like Global Warming... PURE BS flooding the world to promote "false evils" so that someone (usually the Gov't) can step in and regulate/tax something and generate revenue in the name of Public Safety!

The gov't will not rest until they can regulate/tax vaping like they do the other "Sins" such as Tobacco and Alcohol. Let's face it... the gov't wants you to quit smoking "for your health", which is why every time another percentage of the population QUITS smoking, the taxes on a pack of analogs goes UP! They're losing their revenue-base on tobacco products, so taxing vaping as a SIN-ITEM is a logical step to feed the coffers of gov't...

BTW, a pack of Marlboro's costs Philip Morris about 40-cents to make... tack on even 100% mark-up, and there's still $4 in TAXES! Think about it... the gov't taxes cigarettes 1000% over the manufacturing costs! Now you see why all these so-called reports on vaping are coming out... rally the low-info sheeple with junk-science and propaganda, make vaping appear unhealthy and gross, regulate it to the point of cigarettes, and then tax the crap out of them. The gov't wants to get their hands on billions of dollars in new taxes from the vaping industry!

The gov't doesn't care about your health, they only want your money! Oh, and BTW, there is more Formaldehyde (PPM) in the construction materials used to build a FEMA trailer than you'll ever produce by "personal vaping".... How's that for irony?

  9. My Pro Tank 3 Mini had a bit of a metallic taste as well when I first tried it - same coils as your T3'D. I disassembled the unit, washed it, soaked it in alcohol, rinsed in HOT water and let it dry. Before re-assembly I dry-fired the coils to burn off any residue (several 2-3 second bursts to achieve a good "toaster orange glow"), and that seems to have cleared up the issue for me. Only the factory-coil had this issue... the replacements have not had this issue (yet).

If a new, non-metal drip-tip doesn't remove the metal-taste, try dry-firing the coils. Chances are, that you have some residue on the coils or just a "bad" atomizer? Don't give up on it until you've at least tried a new coil unit...

Oh, and just a thought... what battery are you using, and what is the Ohm rating of the coils installed? Might need to use a lower Ohm rating?

  10. I'm just getting into this new "obsession", lol, and I'm thinking I have enough tanks to keep me in business for a while (yeah, right), but the only batteries I have right now are four eGo-T (1100mAh), pen-style.

They work well for me as they have kept me off the analogs, are portable, hold a charge all day and then some, but my dual-coil tanks just don't seem to be benefitting from their power offering.

I have Ce4's, single-coil EVOD's and a Pro Tank 2 Mini, and they seem to do well on the batteries I have, and honestly, the Ce4's seem to produce better vapor... but that could just be the juices I've been trying? Or, perhaps the Ohm rating of the BCC atomizers is too high (think they are 2.2)?

I have a couple of the EVOD2 Glass and a Pro Tank 3 Mini's (all using 1.5 Ohm dual-coils), and they do work on theses batteries, but seem to have intermittent weaker hits and obviouslly they put more strain / drain on the batteries as well.

I've been looking at some of the VV/VW batteries like the MVP 2.0 to take better advantage of my dual-coil tanks. The MVP 2.0 seems to have really good reviews and I can pick one up (kit with i30 tank) for < $40, but I also wanted to get an opionion and suggestions on some of the "round" VV/VW options out there... which won't break the bank!

Honestly, I like the idea of the MVP 2.0 "smart" battery, but not exactly crazy about the bulky "box" style (guess I'm being a bit picky?)... Then again, I'd be using the VV/VW battery primarily at home, and the eGo-T/EVOD or Ce4 combo when out-and-about.... So, any suggestions are WELCOME!

  11. Hello eveyone...

I thought I'd join up for info sharing and hints from the pros... do's... don'ts... and learn from other's successess and failures.

I've been a cigar smoker for 30 years, and as of 4/1/14, I officially gave up on my daily analogs (Swisher Sweets Little Cigars), but still hanging onto a few premiums in the humidor :P

I started my journey into alternatives to smoking with Swisher's disposable e-cigs nearly a year ago, but they just weren't cutting it for me in flavor, vapor, nicotine, or throat hit, so a little over a month ago I decided it was time to move up to a more "respectable" kit. I purchased an eGo-T 1100mAh starter kit with two batteries and four Ce4 Clearomizers and have since added two EVOD MT3 tanks (really liking the bottom-fill and replaceable atomizers). But, I've no complaints on the Ce4 Clearomizers either :)

I also picked up a Pro Tank 2 Mini (2.2 ohm?), and a Pro Tank 3 Mini (1.5 ohm) - Both on sale at the local B&M store ($30 for both tanks and 5 coils for each). I've not used the PT2 yet because it's so much like the EVOD tanks (single coil), and I'm afraid I'm going to lose the drip-tip, lol... but I've tried the PT3... I really like the taste and vapor it produces, but not loving how it really drains the eGo-T battery twice as fast as the EVODs and Ce4s... I'm guessing that is normal because the PT3 is dual coil?

Finding the right e-Juice has been FUN, to say the least :) I really missed my cigar flavors, and have found several versions that seem to hit the spot (Cuban, Havanna, etc), as well as mixed my own batch of Swisher-Sweet-ish flavor... Can't wait to continue experimenting with other flavors and brands....

Being Smoke-free for more than a month now has me feeling SO much better! Physically as well as Financially... I'm guessing I'm already $100+ richer, and hopefully a bit healthier!!

    Well, that's my story....
