  1. Will the ceramic ones work with any TC control device? And FooFighterGirl, are you looking for Stainless because the NiChrome won't work with your mod, or because you like the performance of the stainless better. Getting ready to buy my first TC - one that works with all three - and it's good for me to have the information, since my SO tells me there's little difference if your mod recognizes all three.
  2. @Edna It's a whole business, or set of businesses) that's handling that - and it's a common practice - most online vape businesses are going through companies that verify that way, rather than asking for a copy of a DL because it's actually safer, and frankly, a heck of a lot easier to have a third party that can verify within minutes in 90% of cases (I would imagine the last 4 of the SSN is to verify the DOB, but I'm not sure how they would do that). Never had problems getting smokes, either. Just had to know the right places to buy from. Especially easy if you're a girl and wear make up and such. Heck, one gas station sold to me knowing I was a teenager - but it was a small station, and the clerk wasn't much older than me (let's see, no license, so I was 15, I remember making the mile walk to the Shell station). Just couldn't buy at the places near the high school - they weren't THAT stupid, every single one of them within walking distance knew to card. The Quik Trip I always hit once I learned to drive had the "we card under age 25" policy, but the first time I was carded there was when I was 22, pregnant with my second kid (I know, bad pregnant mommy), married with a wedding ring in plain view, with my toddler in my arms after coming in from WORK as a legal secretary. I was so pissed that I had to dig out my ID (I had the money in my hand for the gas and the smokes) that I sat my kid down on the counter while I dug out my ID.
  3. Okay, I've settled on a mod, the KBox 70 Watt with the built in battery - just don't like the odds of being out and having a battery die, and I'm tired of taking batteries out every time I go to my mom's when the men in my family work on her yard (so, half of the day if not more). As it is, I'll be toting juice over there, so the built in battery of that size should do me well. Now, as far as tanks, I'm just spinning my wheels there. I think I get settled on one, and another one catches my eye. Thinking about the Herakles, the Triton, the TopTank mini, the Uwell Crown 2. If it just came down to capacity it would be the crown 2, but I don't know.
  4. That eases my mind quite a bit. As to how many watts, depending on the right tank, up near 40, probably.
  5. @FXRich, that's actually what I meant. I thought it, and the cool fire iv tc looked pretty similar, except for the external battery on the cool fire. I'm just wondering how quick I would go through a single 18650 battery running it in high power.
  6. Any thoughts on, let's see, the first tank I can remember from the shop today is the KBOX 75 Watt? Seems to me like almost the same thing as the iStick 50 W - same built in battery. Heck, same price point so it's feasible to buy 2 to have one while the other is charging if you don't want to use it on pass-through (doesn't vaping while doing that shorten the battery life?). Also, does anyone have any experience with Ewell Crown tanks? Thanks. Went into the shop today and there were too many more choices and my head is full and confused. Tina
  7. Hey, question about the Aspire Triton and the Herakles Plus (if the flow control is left open). They won't flood or leak if I lay the mod on it's side, will they? Because it never fails, I put my mod in my purse when we are going out somewhere, and it ends up on it's side. Same with my husband's mod, which is much bigger around (it's a something DNA 20) - if it's in my purse, it ends up on it's side, but he has the Herakles Plus and closes the flow control when he's not using it. Also, does the iStick have a method for turning it off without removing the battery, or at least locking the menu or the wattage setting?
  8. The two vapor shops I go to will actually tell the teenage child to wait for their parent outside, and they've had that policy for some time. If it's a child that can't be left outside alone, that's one thing, but a teenager will and has get kicked out of both of those shops while their parents are shopping. If they can't produce ID, they are out of there. *Sigh* Something made me feel damn old a couple months ago. My niece's 16 or 17 year old boyfriend vapes. And I was going to admonish him about it, until I realized, I started smoking at 15, so younger than him. It was easier for me to get analogs than it probably was for him to get vape stuff - well, he probably bought it online before, I don't know about now.
  9. Don't know why it keeps trying to make me quote you, Tam. Are all the iSticks with a built in battery? Then again, I won't need more than 50 watts, maybe 75.
  10. Oh, I'm definitely not looking to build my own coils. My husband had a russian 91 that he used for a while, and he got me one, and I didn't like it. I can't remember why. Tam, how long does the battery take to charge? What do you do in the mean time, or do you have two?
  11. Hey, Werther's originals were my go to candy whenever I tried to quit smoking. Probably will be if I try to quit vaping, too.
  12. LOL, they were single coil. But I don't use them now. As a matter of fact, I have 2 1/2 boxes sitting on my desk that haven't been touched. I cleaned out all my pro tanks.
  13. Rich, I'm completely open on this. I don't know what direction to go. I've been sometimes using my husband's old IVP 2, but that strips the battery covering off - my husband says it's because of the upside down orientation of the batteries, not the way the battery compartment opens, and it's also misreading. It's been dropped a few times and that is causing problems. I've used both built in batteries (MVP) and replaceable batteries (everything else), although with a built in battery, you almost have to have a second unit on hand to use when it's charging, right? I don't really have a brand preference because I don't know anything about what's out there now. I've spent a year with my SVD, six months before that was with one of the last of Sigelei Zmaxes, a year with the VTR before that, and the MVP before that. As far as tanks, well, I have a very limited history with tanks, the nautilus being my first foray outside of the Protank and Davide world, but I also sometimes use a Herakles (heck, I don't even know how to fill it, my husband fills it for me), but it needs retired because of fall damage causing leakage - part of it got bent, so you almost have to have a paper towel with it if you are vaping it for a long time, and it's best to disconnect it from the tank if it's going to be sitting for a long time. I will say that I prefer the bvt coils that the Nautilus has to dual coils, usually, but I THINK nautilus is the only brand that uses bvt, right? I'm not looking to go VTR type heavy again, though.
  14. Used to be coils for Protanks which you were always out of, now it's been Nautilus and Herakles + coils for quite some time.
  15. Okay, granted, I ONLY use Sweet-Vapes for hardware - mostly coils - but the biggest problem I've had was when they run out of coils for a long period of time. It's my go to coil supplier.
  16. Hi! It's that time for me, and I'll be moving up in the mod world from my SVD and probably from the Nautilus tanks. I like the volume that the Nautilus holds, but it never fails, when it's getting close to time to fill it, it starts leaking - on both my tanks - and they have from the beginning. So I'm looking for new tanks (I've completely stopped using the ProTanks and Davides, not enough airflow), hopefully top fill tanks, and I'm thinking about a temperature control tank, but it doesn't have to be temperature control, but definitely something that can go up to 50 watts at least - out of a Herakles I was hitting one brand at 45 watts. Tried the Herakles + and I'm not sure about it. My SO told me not to leave the flow control open when I'm not using it, so what did I do? I picked up, didn't open the flow control again, and burned the coil. BTW, is it pronounced HERAkles, or Hercules? It's nitpicky, but my sister and her friends say it's pronounced Hercules, and that's not how it's spelled, so I just want to know if I'm saying it right. The shops have all said HERAkles, not HERCUles.
  17. I don't get the "manufacturing" thing if they put their hands on something, either. And you are going to have a bunch of beginner vapers out there with beginner user errors that they can't get corrected on because no one will be able to put their hands on a device anymore to check and see if the tank is attached tight enough, or if the coil is screwed in tight enough. These beginners will then get pissed off and toss their stuff out the window, and probably end up smoking again.....and I'm left to wonder, again, if this is what the FDA wants - for us to be sucking on a burning weed that has 4000 carcinogens, some of which are only carcinogens when burned? They are making it easier to smoke, and easier to retail cigarettes, than they are vaping because it's "new and scary". To a point, I understand approval of the flavors - IF they were going to make it illegal to use certain things like diacetyl or other things in the liquid, but we haven't heard about what's not allowed to be in there, just what has to be done (spend money) to get it approved. Chris, I was VERY surprised to hear that my shop that I go to was going through the PMTA process, but they started as an online business with liquid as their biggest seller, and they have a LOT of very loyal customers - enough that they've opened three satellite locations since they opened the first B&M store in June or July 2013. I would be surprised if the shop my sister is involved with (she's friends with the owners) isn't pursuing PMTA on their line as well, as big of an operation they got to be. But they may just go the way of selling other juices and merchandise and save themselves the money. I think I said before, the shop we go to is getting certain flavors as only high VG's, most flavors at 50/50, and only certain nic levels, whereas before they would nic levels in between as well if you wanted. Is six a "standard" nic level? I mean, there has to be something between zero and nine, right?
  18. Am considering quitting as well. At least in February. As it is now, I'm TRYING to wean myself down from using it so much - I hit the darn thing too much - more than I had been. Will soon be getting a new mod - hopefully - and since it won't be just sit here and hold it in my hand constantly sized (or at least my hand would get uber sweaty) I won't be hitting it as often. It depends on budgetary concerns as well. All of this is hitting just when our budget crunches down more - so if prices go up in our shop from them getting authorization on their liquids, that may be a factor.
  19. We went to do an online purchase the other day, and it required, not a picture of his ID, since he's under 27, but a picture of him holding his ID.......wtf? They've got to come up with a better system. And that's the thing - a vape shop isn't going to know a fake ID, so nothing is going to stop someone from getting a fake ID (or some other ways to get an ID that says you are above the age) to get product. We said to heck with it and drove the 30 minutes to the store. They are charging $1 for taste testing, but I was the first one that asked, so they hadn't really had it set up yet. I'm 42 years old, and they had to see my ID before they could talk to me...I certainly wasn't getting carded for analogs when I was buying those, but the FDA is requiring them to card EVERYONE, evidently. But happy day, evidently this shop does well for itself, because it's going through with the FDA approval of what they can get approved in certain strengths, and some will only be say, high vg, some will only be straight 50/50, etc. I don't expect them to be able to sell the flavoring mixture blend for that much more - right now we can purchase a bottle of flavoring to add our own nic, pg and vg to, but I'm guessing after February, that will go. My sister was talking about she and the other shop employees were helping throw out over $100,000 in product, and I was wondering why. Well, at first, the government was going to let them sell out of their stock of bottles that were just child proof, not tamper proof before requiring the tamper proof bottles be sold. Well, they had a butt-ton of non-tamper proof bottles. Someone changed their mind and said they had to switch to tamper proof immediately, so they pitched close to $200,000 bottles that weren't tamper resistant. I feel for that shop a bit because they never incorporated, (despite being so large with their wholesale side) so they are eating all of these losses personally.
