  1. Be aware, if your Gma has Parkinsons, you may get a lot of calls about her accidentally turning it off, depending on how sensitive it is with clicks. I know when I'm having my normal tremors (I have MS) on my SVD I would accidentally hit the three click lock so that it wouldn't vape (handy for purse carrying). The cartomizers she's been using, are those the modern cartos, or the prefilled cartos, like with cigalikes? I'm glad that vaping has helped her quit. My father tried it for a few days, but the starter stuff did not give him enough to keep him with it (and considering his lung issues, his heart issues, and his diabetes, he really needs to quit at 72 years old). A question about your signature - I looked it up, and came up with 90 mg of nicotine as fatal for adults? Could different sources be responsible for this?
  2. You can also set Stainless steel on wattage mode, if you prefer to use wattage. Right now, that's what I'm doing - but a second juice that I vape I may end up vaping in TC mode. Thank goodness I have a mod that I can use SS in. Just remember, if you have a Nickle or Titanium coil, you can't use them in wattage mode. That's why stainless steel is so handy.
  3. @Christopher I'm starting to really like my Crown 2. I've got the leaking down (you have to be careful about how the coil sits) so it only leaks when the thing is practically horizontal if the air flow is open, and doesn't leak at all if the air flow is closed. I've found, and I'm sorry, I don't think you carry this, the .25 SS coil to have better flavor than the .5 SS - the .5 is actually running down quicker than the .25, but it could be because at first, they were having trouble with the taste on the coils getting metallic quickly a few months ago, and I don't know how long this box has been sitting on the shelf - conceivably it was before they improved the coils. My iSub that came with my Cool Fire I'm not getting a lot of taste out of, and I'm not sure if I just haven't found the right setting for that particular juice yet, or if it's the tank, or if it's even because my husband went from 50/50 to 70/30 mix on that flavor (it's his ADV, I just use it occasionally).
  4. Both of my sub ohm tanks (the crown 2 and the iSub V) came with "wide bore" tips. They are true 510 tips, but inner and outer diameter are much bigger - possibly twice as large as a Protank or similar drip tip opening. It's not very comfortable to me, or maybe it would be if it were longer (except the Crown 2's drip tip because it's metal and gets very hot when using sub ohm coils or in TC mode) I would like it better, because mine are short, so my husband gave me a standard length, standard width delrin drip tip. The wider tip is great if your purpose is to cloud chase every time, but I don't - normally I hit mouth to lung, and for me, it doesn't give me big clouds unless I lung hit, which, of course, I can still do if I choose - but I can make clouds, albeit smaller clouds @Christopher, without going sub ohm, as long as I lung hit ( @Patricia ). I'm just not a cloud chaser - it reminds me of when my house was filled with smoke, and it bothers my son.
  5. Mine still leaks. I've had it leak over my hand when I've tilted it too far to take a hit off of it. The only time it doesn't leak is when we've taken it apart, like the time I requested my husband help me take it apart, or when I had to change the coil, and I'll get a few hours of no leaking, but by bedtime it leaks again.
  6. @Earthling789 Is that color code universal, or just for the Kanger coils? Oh, weirdness happened here today. Well, first off, it's best if I completely empty my Crown 2 before trying to change the coil. Secondly, I had been vaping a .25 SS coil on wattage mode. When I changed the coil, the only other one I had was .5, and that's much hotter, even on wattage mode, it seems. Or it may just be my imagination.
  7. From what I could see, the o-rings are good. And again, this isn't just the little bit you would expect at refill.
  8. Patricia, personally, I've never had the problem with burnt lips with a SINGLE coil unless I was sub ohm, so I would stick to above 1 resistance, kanthal (nickel can't be used in wattage mode anyway, I don't know about nichrome - which is part nickel - or ceramic, and Clapton is usually sub ohm as well, from what I've seen? Now, with dual coils I have gotten the burnt lips much earlier. That's the thing about the Nautilus tank that I liked, it was bottom vertical coils rather than being dual coil. For me, it was all the power, none of the problems. Good luck.
  9. @Earthling789 That's good to know about the Triton minis. Thanks.
  10. I think the subbox mini is what he's talking about. I don't think they make the subtank mini anymore - I think they replaced them with the Topbox mini - which despite the mini name, actually has a good capacity (I'm spoiled on capacity after the 6 ml nautilus - I loved my nautilus), but it only has sub ohm coils, I think. The sub ohm coils, I believe, are the ones that end up making the the whole unit, drip tip included, hot?
  11. @Tam What kind of wattage are you running the 1.8 coils through? I'm almost positive I'm going to try to get this tank. I like my Crown 2, I really do, but the leaking is still a problem if I have the airflow open, even picking it up if I tilt it, much less try to adjust the menu tilting it. And I picked up my iSub V that came with the mod, and had no trouble with leaking moving it every different direction even with the airflow wide open and no leaks. Just have to convince my SO to part with the $$ @Christopher We were trying to do one stop shopping the other day, but you either don't sell the Herakles + coils (stainless), or were out of them! Sweet-Vapes only has nickel. On the other hand, I'm glad I didn't get them now that I'm thinking of ditching the tank.
  12. Tam, I'm considering getting the Triton because I want a tank that I can switch to my old mod, which can't take sub-ohm, when the new mod is charging. Sweet-Vapes has a Triton 2 Clapton - is that the one that you are talking about that will take the 1.8 kanthal coils? (So far, I don't use temp control, it's too hot for me, so going to kanthal wouldn't be a problem for me.)
  13. Have you tried using the tanks in wattage mode rather than temperature control mode, and using a delrin tip? That's what I ended up having to do with my Crown 2 on my new Cool Fire 4 TC mod (too bad I wasted the extra $10 on TC when I'm running in wattage). I should say I run about 33 watts. I would also recommend the Aspire Nautilus. You have to run a lower wattage, but generally, it will get you up in flavor just the same, without the need for a delrin tip to prevent burning (I ran one flavor at 20 watts - the max for my old mod, and my all day vape at 14.3 watts - they are usually good at between 9 and 15 watts).
  14. It occasionally leaks if I tip it too far while the airflow is open. While it's closed it doesn't leak though, but it's open most of the time, actually. I don't just hit it a few times once an hour. I hit it a lot, frequently, and if I close the airflow in between times, it doesn't cool down. So it stands behind my keyboard with the airflow open. I'll close it if I'm going somewhere, or eating, or napping (or in bed) or it's charging. When it does leak, it's still a pain, lol.
  15. I guess it depends on your charger. My Nitecore takes about 4 hours to charge completely.
  16. How did I not see this? I had the notification in my e-mail, I just skimmed over it (a clue that I get too many darned e-mails from every other company, plus it went to the wrong folder). I agree! My husband told me the best way to prime the coil is to go around and put a drop in all four "holes" where the cotton shows, put a drop in the top, then go back around and do the holes again, and it worked really well. I tried TC mode on my new Cool Fire 4, and I'm not fond of it (TC mode, I'm not saying I'm not fond of the mod, I love the mod). I guess I'm a wuss, because it's too hot for me. I'm running ABOUT the same wattage as you with full airflow as well (this has my husband freaked out because when I was a Pro tank devotee, anything with more air flow than a pro tank was declared "too airy" by me - at least until I started using the Nautilus, and after that, the pro tanks were way too tight). I just started closing off the airflow after reading your other post, and I have to remind myself so far to keep doing it. In the week prior, I can't imagine how much juice ended up leaking everywhere. The leaking isn't gone - if I angle it too much when I'm vaping it still happens - but it's better.
  17. As far as I know, no. I've only had one "invasive" surgery since I started vaping, and when I was asked, was told I could vape up until I got to the hospital. But some docs have different preferences. I know a friend of mine had a doc tell her not to smoke for x hours before any surgery (like, the time she had to be without food), and that was in a period where I was having a lot of surgeries, and I was never told not to smoke - not even before my sinus surgery. PS: Congrats on the weight loss! You deserve a reward!
  18. Thanks. It's helping, a bit. And yeah, I know about cleaning out the connection with a q-tip. Keeps it from getting nasty, and keeps liquid from seeping into the device, which in some devices has cause things to asplody. I think one of the IPV mods had that problem - just people not maintaining their equipment, which is rule #1 with electronics, duh. Liquid and electricity...... Reminds me of people who put loose batteries in their pockets with loose change and crap, and then freak out when their pockets explode because they shorted the battery out.
  19. Double check that it takes SS coils, or, if you are just using wattage, you can find kanthal coils. What I'm using is a Cool Fire 4 TC. I believe there are models that take external batteries, or there is the one that has an internal battery - but you can vape by passthrough while it's charging, or just put it to charge before you go to sleep. Using it in wattage mode eats up the battery more than TC mode. It goes to 100 watts. It's what I'm using.
  20. My husband had a delrin drip tip that he gave me. We were supposed to go out this weekend to look at more, but didn't have time, and this one suits me just fine - it's narrower, and longer than the other delrin drip tip I have, so it feels more natural, and it's easier for me to keep the inside of my upper lip off it without tipping it to an angle that would cause the tank to leak, lol.
  21. I'm vaping on the first coil, the one that came in it, and it's the .25 coil as well.
  22. Air flow is going to make a BIG difference in the amount of watts you can pull through a tank with higher power applied. My ProTanks I couldn't put that much power through anymore - I'm talking down to 6 watts - but the Kanger ramped it up. Even my Aero tank I couldn't really pull the power up - still not enough air flow. With my Crown 2, right now, today that is, I'm running it at 35 watts. That's what I can deal with today. Tomorrow I may want more, or less. But today it's not burning my lips off and the taste is still good. I keep my airflow running wide open - both on this and on my Nautilus.
  23. That's some messed up stuff there.
  24. I've not had this problem, either running in TC or wattage, I just run through batteries on my Cool Fire IV tc while I'm wattage mode. Granted, I'm not cranking it up to 80 watts, I'm at just over 40, but I'm using the .25 that came with it. I would imagine the .5 ohm coils last longer, but from what I've heard, the .8 ohm last even longer, have great vapor, and use less juice as well. Where did you find kanthal coils for it, though? The .5 I've seen were stainless. @Christopher, lil help here since you are a vendor and know what is what and what is sold? Tell me, do you have an issue with your Crown 2 leaking when your mod or the tank is tipped? It's a problem I'm having, and (see my post at http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/topic/30314-crown-2-leaking-first-impressions-and-a-question/ ) and I don't know how to stop it - to the point that it's almost made me want to change tanks, but I love this tank because of it's capacity.
