  1. I know the states sued Big Tobacco and won - enough that for Phillip Morris to appeal in IL, they had to place a bond of 10% of the verdict, which nearly bankrupted them. Each state got a block grant from the tobacco settlement, to be used for various things. I didn't know Big Tobacco sued.
  2. I know there is a March planned in, I think, Michigan tomorrow - but considering it's not at the FDA, it's not really saying much. Is it true that the IRS is counting unsold inventory as income rather than inventory now? At least that's what that large shop/wholesaler said. But I'm not sure they've incorporated, either, which is bad news. They may end up losing a mint over this, and if it's not incorporated? It all falls on them, not a corporation. They have their own line, but not the resources to submit every flavor, every nic level.
  3. Chris, would you agree that this sounds like it's coming from big tobacco, rather than excessive concern from the FDA? It's almost like they want people to stay on the cancer sticks rather than something less harmful (we know there is some harm in this, studies have born this out, but it's almost negligible)? Also, big pharma could get a bigger cut with Chantix sales possibly going up (I can't take Chantix, and a large number of people can't because of side effects)? I know there are at least a couple of lawsuits against the FDA over this. And many docs are referring their patients to vaping. My sister sees the same doc as my Dad. He recommended to my Dad that he vape instead of smoking because of the condition of his lungs. He recommended to my sister that she vape, saying, "I don't want you to end up like your Dad"!
  4. THANK YOU! Granted, all of these regulations are bad news, and big tobacco's way of using the feds to put vaping out of business (big tobacco basically wrote the regs, supposedly, because they are losing so much money to vaping, and the FDA just bent over), and the regs make you think they want you to smoke rather than vape, my sister came along with today, "So are you ready for Monday?" and conversation like everything was going away Monday. I think her friends that own the shop and wholesale are putting wrong stuff in her head, and she thinks whatever comes out of their mouths is gold for certain reasons, including the fact that they give her most of her juice for free and her mods at cost, if at any charge at all.
  5. I've never had a problem with them. I've bought mods off of them, I'm CONSTANTLY buying coils from them - they are my go-to source for coils, both for me and my husband's tanks.
  6. Chris, According to my sister - who thinks she knows everything on the topic - a lot of stuff will have to be taken off the market by the August 8th date (Monday). Have you found anything that has to be taken off the market? If so, what? Thanks. My sister said that the vape shop she works at sometimes had to pitch over $100,000 worth of merchandise (juice) because it wasn't, um, tamper sealed yet, even though there was time before that had to happen. I DO know that the State of Indiana passed their own laws, and shops in Indiana can only sell juice manufactured in Indiana - and the state set up six manufacturers to manufacture for all the shops in the state (sounds like what states do with um, state dispensaries - that's all I'll say). Tina
  7. Christopher, I had seen that Reuters article. My guess is someone in the OMB made the argument that tastebuds don't go away once you hit 18, and adults enjoy flavors, too (and being able to taste flavors, frankly, is what has kept me vaping over analogs). Just a guess on my part. What is the wait on the regulations going final? Is there some sort of commenting period?
  8. Thank you, Christopher. There are three questions that I have. 1) Is it true that all e-juice will have to be produced in a juice making lab - a manufacturing facility, I guess. 2) Secondly - you said that anything that does NOT contain nicotine the FDA doesn't have authority over. Does this mean that a shop can sell 0 nic juice and not have to get it approved? Or in the alternative - for example, our local B&M will also sell the flavoring mixture of their flavors - like a bottle of Inferno flavoring, or 618 flavoring, no nic, no PG/VG. You then add PG/VG in the proportions you want, and nic if you desire (I know people that still vape 0 nic). Would that be affected - as in would that have to be approved. I know after a certain date we won't be able to get nic, but we could make up our own 0 nic juice that way in our favorite flavors. 3) Is it true that manufacturers have to apply for all nic levels per flavor? Or will they just get a blanket approval from what, 24 down, or whatever it is? Again, thank you for doing the leg work on this. And congratulations on being the majority owner - although it may be a headache with the deeming regs. Tina Edit: One more question. Is it possible that online retailers won't be required to have driver's license info or anything like that? That maybe the clicking you are 18 years or older will suffice in the long term? And there's a comment period before some changes take effect, right?
  9. Well, this is the flavoring for a store's brand of juice, just ready to add to our pg/vg/mic preference. They saw how many people were going to blending their own, because PG/VG and nic were so much cheaper, and they bottle the flavoring for say, Inferno, and you buy that - no nic involved, but I would imagine it would still be prone to regulation. Nic isn't going to be available after 2 years for mixing at home, right? Heck, I mean, if after the two years, flavoring, PG/VG are still available, since they are used in other things, we may just mix up something we like and vape it without nic. I don't know.
  10. We need to stock up on nic base....and stock up on the flavoring mix we use, since we use a premade mix from a shop without nic, just the base flavoring, add our nic and PG/VG to make as big or as small a batch as we want.
  11. Like everyone said, headed in the right direction. I just don't want to have to quit vaping. Frankly, right now, I'm pretty sure I could drop to 0 nic right now. I've realized since I had hand surgery at the end of March that this is MORE of a hand to mouth, pacifier effect than analogs were, or rather, I have the damned thing in my mouth more than I did analogs. And my usage is increasing, so I'm actually taking steps to stop that - making sure it's sitting away from me, etc. At one point, my husband vaped way more than I did. Not anymore. jeffb, I just saw your response, and it's exactly right. B&M shops that have their own lines aren't going to be able to afford to get their lines grandfathered, and I bet the juice is the most profitable thing about their businesses, whether it's their own or someone else's. My sister is "BFFs" with the owner of what started out as a little B&M here that got us started three years ago, and is now, supposedly, the third largest wholesale center in the country (according to my sister....but then again, she gets darn near all her product free or at cost just by being friends and a spokesmodel for them) they don't know what they are going to do. Is it true that all juices will have to be manufactured in labs, and nic won't be allowed to be sold anymore like it is now?
  12. Chris, I'm sorry, I'm late coming to the forums on this, and I couldn't find the information myself, and only going by what my sister told me that she claimed her new BFF, the owners of "the third largest wholesaler in the nation", that started out as a B&M just two months before we started vaping....anyway, is it true that a) all juice has to be manufactured in labs once this goes into effect, b ) we won't be able to mix our own, so would nic be taken off the market?. Crap. We had JUST gotten to where I had two flavors that I can vape and still usually taste, even with my neurological tasting damage, and the B&M read the writing on the wall that people were finding it more affordable to mix their own, so they were selling bottles of just the flavoring that you add your own PG/VG/NIC to (so just the flavoring base with nothing else), and we have been mixing it to the strength we want it. I mean, if they are still allowed to do that, but nic is off the market, we could do it with 0 nic - my mod has become a pacifier as much a nic delivery device, anyway. But if they aren't going to be able to do that, I don't know what we are going to do. Probably have to quit when the "ungrandfathered" products have to be taken off the shelves - I can't imagine how much prices are going to shoot up at places that have the facilities and that will be working through this, and we just can't afford it right now, or next year, I guess. I'm sorry, I didn't read the thread, but I'd like hear if anyone knows anything about this. EDIT: Sorry for the ramble. My brain isn't exactly "on" tonight, and hasn't been the last several days, so this is what you get. Comp, I'm so tired of the "e-cig battery exploded" stories. Nine times out of ten, including on airlines, they are being misused, or shorting the stupid batteries out causing the fires, or leaking juice into the mod, again, causing fires, etc. Cell phone batteries catch fire more than e-cig batteries, but no one yells about those, right? EDIT: GAH, automatically merging replies in this case probably isn't a good thing - one is the whole deeming thing, the other is exploding batteries. Who's going to read through my rambling deeming section to get to my response to Comp? LOL. Sorry for the
  13. Okay, I have two Nautilus tanks, and I have questions about both of them - but this first is most pressing for me right now. I never used to have problems rotating the airflow ring, but I generally didn't need to mess with it that much. The only time I've ever really messed with it, it turns out, is when I have a coil that's going. But lately, it's getting difficult, almost impossible to turn. Well, once you get it to move, it will click over to the next stop just fine, but it's getting it to move. Could my coil going bad be causing this? I am hoping this is it, because both of my tanks have had this problem, with the airflow ring not wanting to turn at times, even after being washed, and I just washed this 12 hours ago. I really like the nautilus tanks, but if the airflow rings are going to be difficult, that may be a deal breaker for me. Second question, different Nautilus. My first Nautilus tank, it seemed like it had problems with gurgling and leaking from the airflow ring when it got to be less than half full. Except, it continued on, and it wasn't just when it was under half full. Sometimes it would be just the airflow ring was moist, and sometimes you could actually see a trail of moisture down onto the face of the mod (ironically enough, it never leaked that much out the bottom, so I never had much clean up to do on my mod, thank the lucky stars). Today, I finally said "f" this, and emptied out the contents of the other tank, which I barely vaped - but even so, even lying on it's side for all this time, never leaked a drop - and put my full time vape into THAT tank, and low and behold, not a single leak. So what is possibly going on with the original tank? As it is, if it's recoverable, I'm going to probably have to somehow replace the O-rings, and I have no idea how to even REMOVE the giant O-ring that forms the bottom of the assembly - but it was holding inferno, and it's highly doubtful that is going to come out even with the vodka bath it's taking. Last time I re-purposed an Inferno tank, every single O-ring, including the drip tip, had to be replaced.
  14. Okay, I'll give you that - keeping it away from children and pets - because if it's not marked on there explicitly and somehow some person in this country is vaping and doesn't know that nicotine DOES have a toxicity threshold, they'll be screaming they didn't know if their kid or their dog get a hold of it and get seriously ill or die, they'll be all over their local news talking about how no one warns you about things like this, and there will be a lawsuit - which is an expensive way to get a warning sticker slapped on something. Every item you buy that has a common sense warning label on it is because someone DIDN'T have common sense, and took a company to court because they didn't "warn stupid people" - except for the companies that warn the stupid people (don't put a metal ladder up against a power line!) not to do stupid things (caution, surface will be hot!). I'm sorry, I'm totally flipped out about the completely litigious society right now (yes, I used to be a legal secretary, but I moved out of personal injury - the worst of litigation - and was in the legal aid sector; okay, worker's comp is monetary litigation, but I believe in that - I saw workers' comp defense attorneys arguing over freaking $500 in a settlement of a claim, really, $500?). Read an article about an aunt suing her 12 year old nephew because when he was 8 he went to greet her and jumped up for her to catch him in a hug and he knocked her down and broke her wrist. Really, our courts are being used for that?
  15. Just wondering - are they going to print caffeine warnings on all caffeinated beverage containers, too? Since it's not the nicotine causing the cancer, I don't think they need to be doing it, IMO.
  16. Yeah, I accidentally saved something it accepted, and it removed it (since even after you enter the code for the banner, it doesn't show the banner in the editing screen unless you save it - and since the hyperlink just (for me, at least) opened a tab with this page, I removed it. I'll see if I can find another banner, or wait and try to VT banner at a later date.
  17. Still the same message. Not sure if I should leave the sig as is, with outdated equipment, or if I should just remove the banner and just put my quit date. Sad thing is, I just updated this signature maybe 6 months ago? Maybe less? Maybe if I remove it, try again at a later date, it will work again. Then again, I think I've seen other quit banners - I ECF used to have a link to a generic one - not site specific at all. If anything, I could use that.
  18. Yeah, but when I go to edit my signature, it won't save it - it says there's something wrong with the link, I guess to the signature block. I tried to save it, and I got this message: Unable to retrieve signature image dimensions for %s, please try another image . The only "image" in the signature is the signature block - so I figure if I'm going to be able to edit my signature and be able to save it, I'm going to have to re-input the link or whatever to the signature block, because that's what's messing it up. If you go in, and try to edit your signature (I tried this and got the same message), go into edit my signature, either do nothing and hit save, or insert or delete a letter, hit save - anything and hit save short of taking that image out will result in that message - at least it has with mine every time. Heck, I can't even center the block like it used to be.
  19. Hi. Don't know where to ask this. For the Vapor Talk signature block that many of us have, showing how long we've been off analogs, how many cigarettes avoided, how much money we didn't spend on analogs, does anyone have the link to that? I went to edit my signature - was doing nothing but changing the equipment stated in my signature, and from the feedback it gave me, it wouldn't save the signature because of that signature block - something about the link, I think?
  20. I've actually been considering it for quite a while now. First, we have the 1/3 cut in a small income (for a household of four) to begin with. Then we have my neurological issues. Because of the MS, I have lesions or damage in the two areas of the brain where smell is centered. I don't notice it much - and I should have known it was from the MS, because I never noticed it all when I had seizures before - just a slight decreased amount of smell, but the effect on my sense of taste is enough to change how I taste vape after a neurological event - usually, seizures, but this last MS flare was a prolonged one (and probably centered in one of the affected areas of the brain) and it totally screwed up what I could taste as far as vape. And two flavors that I decided I liked DURING the MS flare (which one of them I really couldn't stand even in the first week of the flare - I should have figured this result would happen) I don't like now. Not to mention, every time I have an "event", the voltage or wattage that I can vape at without the juice tasting burned - depending on the juice/tank/device - has lowered. Before my first seizure after I started vaping, I was vaping at 8+ watts. For the past year and half, after several seizures, it was down to 6 watts. Then when the flare started, I started having to lower farther than that. When my Zmax died, I switched over to my husband's mini Provari, and for some reason, with a lot of juices, I couldn't get up to 5 watts. Got myself an SVD 2, I can get almost back up to 6 watts for whatever reason (thank goodness for DNA chips that allow .1 wattage increases) - except for a couple of juices - using Kanger tanks. The only tank I've been able to go higher with has been a Nautilus, and I'm still not sure I like the change in flavor I'm tasting between the Kanger and the nautilus. Still having trouble finding the "right" juice after this last flare, although my former main vape I can vape again (after weeks of not being able to taste it all, or it tasting foul), but it tastes different, even though I'm finding I like it. I'm still at 12 mg, I guess because of habit. And vaping, like smoking, is another hand to mouth habit. If I'm using my hands a lot, it sits, unused. It's when I'm not, when I'm, less occupied, less mentally involved in anything - I'm more likely to hit it, and frequently. But it's, again, like many of you mentioned before you decided to cut down, it's becoming almost the same, if more much time spent actually doing it, as smoking was - not to mention equipment. Thank goodness Nautilus gives you a replacement tank in the box, because I was taking my almost brand new nautilus apart two days ago and dropped it my sink, and the glass broke. Then the coils, making sure you order juice in time so you'll get it before you run out.... I replaced the Zmax, had to replace my charger because it was malfunctioning, and just had to order new batteries.
  21. And is the charging cable a standard micro usb cable? But the "problems" worry me, which is why I was asking about other options as well.
  22. I haven't had problems finding the single Kanger coils. JuiceMafia (more expensive there, though, a couple dollars per pack more), Vapor Beast - um, last time I ordered I got them from Vapor Beast, Sweet Vapes has them. I used to get them at 101vape.com, but the last few times I went there they were out of stock (and shipping there is only $2). Where are you having trouble finding them? I'm just not a fan of dual coil, which is why I never made the leap.
  23. Just to get a view on other products - what about any other products, or the Vamo or Tesla? Although I saw that Sweet Vapes had a silicone case for the istick, which would help for drops as long as I don't hit the tank. But you can find some kind of case for almost anything.
