  1. My sister-in-law had a big staff meeting today at the local Women's Shelter. I gave her two 510 sets (cart, atty, battery) preloaded with some Essence USA mix and 555, the bottle of Essence, a KR808 PCC with an 808 to 510 adapter in it, with a battery plugged in, and a 510 cartomizer in the PCC filled with Jeff's Mix (from WordUpEcig). And also a fist full of about 30 business cards from all the online vendors I've ever ordered from before. She gave a little presentation to her employees about PVs because they all smoke. They were all very impressed, and took *all* of the business cards away from her It went very well, and I'm freaking happy about it. Hopefully they'll go home tonight and do their own online reading and work up the courage to buy a starter kit somewhere. It would be fantastic to "save" some folks from smoking analogs. Plus, on a selfish note, I'd like more vapers in my area! Wish them luck!
  2. Check out what Jason from Electronicstix posted in his forum. Great to see more vendors getting them, and the part about the mouth piece is good for those that like to pop it off to fill! http://www.electronicstix.com/BLANK-510-CARTOMIZERS-510cartoblank.htm
  3. Besides all the normal awesome banter of VaporCast, I just have to point out that I love the fact that Adam, Scott, and Jack drink a boat load of bear. Case in point, 1:10:44. The classic sound of a beer can being cracked open. I can't recall how many times I've heard the cap of a beer bottle being pried open and clanking around on the ground. But this beer can really hit a special note with me for some reason Love it!
  4. Dang..... I didn't think I could wait any longer! Need my weekly fix. Been listening to re-runs too long
  5. Hmmm... That is interesting... Honestly my personal thought is that it isn't the flavorings used, but rather the nic juice. I'll betchya they're having difficulty getting some nicotine base to add to their flavored juices. I mean let's face it, if they said "we're out of nic juice" then they'd have customers wanting to order their flavoring base, and just buy nic juice from someone else to make a DIY version. But putting a spin on it that they're out of the flavoring (b/c flavors are soooo secretive amongst companies; and everyone has their own special recipe that you may not get anywhere else), it makes you feel that there's no way in heck you can get a similarly flavored juice from any other company. I could be totally wrong here. Maybe they really are waiting for the flavorings rather than nicotine juice. But if I owned a business and couldn't get the necessary nicotine juice, I'd put a different spin on it to keep my customers. Just my opinion.... But dang, you've got me wanting to try them now. Ya see how that works!!
  6. Fantastic news Mike! Glad you decided to try them and super glad you like them too. I've been hijacking threads too often lately, so in regards to refilling methods I'll just post a link to some discussions on refilling these 510 cartos instead: http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/index.php?/topic/4870-510-cartomizers/page__st__24 It sounds like I'm not doing it the most effective way, so Cmdryker probably has the best method. I've only tried to pop off the end cap once (and this was when I was dissecting one that I was about to throw away). It came out in pieces for me, so I'll not try that method. The condom-filling method seems to work good for me, but I've not tried the syringe or dripping through the hole.
  7. Oh wow, I've not had this happen to me yet. I do own some LR attys, but only have a passthrough for 5V vaping so I haven't dabbled with 6V just yet. Sounds kind of intriguing.... Something to figure out exactly what is happening physically down in there. But I'm sure if it happened to me, I'd never want anything to do with it again
  8. Wifey and I smoked for a long time. I just started vaping close to 2 months ago. She was totally excited about the prospect and really wanted to make the switch herself. Unfortunately she hasn't been able to do so yet. She's extremely PG sensitive, and despite trying all kinds of pure VG juices we still haven't found the right combination for her. I still have a hunch that she's not trying hard enough, or just not putting forth enough effort for the learning curve, but honestly it's hard to say either way. My sister-in-law on the other hand loves vaping. She takes every opportunity to use my stuff when she's over here, but has yet to buy herself a starter kit. Since I have a stockpile of 510 batteries and attys, I'll probably just end up giving them all to her since I had originally intended on giving them to my wife. Most of the family is very receptive about me vaping. In fact, they're very happy. They literally knew nothing about PVs until I educated them, and are supporting me 100%. And that's a good thing
  9. Right, cartomizers are meant to be disposable. You can refill them a number of times, I filled one of mine 5 times before throwing it away. But I wouldn't push it to more than 5, and I'll probably settle around 4 times for peace of mind. It's possible that the juice in there could foul up if you try refilling too many times, which is a definite turn off. Cartomizers have their benefits and also disadvantages. They're not for everyone, but for me they're perfect. The flavor from a cartomizer is out of this world, and for me that's the most important thing with vapor production a close 2nd and throat hit a distant 3rd. So overall, the cartos aren't as cost effective as a normal atomizer. But if you don't mind the extra money pinch, they could be your main atty. And until I find something different, they're my go-to atty.
  10. Right on with what Brian said. I'm on my 4th refill on this current 510 and I think once it's done, I'll chunk it. I've pushed another one up to 5 before, and it performed flawlessly up until I threw it away. So far, there's no difference in performance. Meaning the taste and vapor production haven't changed yet through the course of refills. But, as Brian mentioned, these are indeed to be disposable and honestly I'm a little uncomfortable pushing them more than just a few days. Reason is that I worry about the leftover juice that could start to foul up. One tiny complaint I have, is that directly after refilling vapor production is very subdued. But I think this is my fault. From what I've heard, I fill these things much more than most other folks and it's probably more than they were intended. After about 10-15 toots, I've vaped enough juice out to get things back to where they should be. Beyond that (which is my fault) I'm still in love with them. After I've run through the 50 I got from Vapor Kings, I'll buy another 50. Huge fan-boy here. If they sound interesting to you, drop $9 on a 5 pack of them next pay day. If you don't like them, then you've only wasted enough money to buy a normal 510 atomizer.
  11. I have a tendancy to write looooong posts.... But on the same token I love reading long winded juice reviews. So for me personally, I vote for giving us an encyclopedia Especially considering the fact that there aren't many reviews on Viking Vapor's juices. I bought about 10 juices from them awhile back, but never reviewed them here due to some problems in their production. So I never got to really taste them as they were intended to be.
  12. The closest thing we have right now are the Zero-Cart-Filler mods. Although not manufactured or endorsed by any e-cig company, they seem to work very well for many people (I can't personally attest to this b/c I don't have them). The principle is very simple, and so is the construction. Check it out here: http://stealthvapor.webs.com/apps/webstore/ For me though, until some major breakthrough is found (which is supposedly in the works at Janty) I'm very happy using the 510 cartomizers.
  13. Hey, same here. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Vapyr. Despite the fact that I already have a 14500 battery mod, I'm still looking for another Honestly, if the Vapyr had as much exposure and publicity as the BB from Altsmoke, I'd have bought the Vapyr instead. It's sooooo much cheaper than the BB, looks smaller, and has cool LEDs that you can use or not use depending upon your mood. So yeah, I'm seriously considering this thing now, even though my only excuse is that it's been a couple weeks since I've bought my last device (the VP PT)
  14. Speaking of cigars, I started on cigars long before even trying a drag off an analog cigarette. I shelled out some serious money a few times for some expensive ones, looking for a fantastic taste. However, after a few months of wasting money, I found myself continually going back to the cheap Swisher Sweet Perfectos Honestly nothing tasted better, no matter how much money I spent. But on to the 510 cartos... I think you pretty much speculated everything already in regards to why they're considered disposable. They're more cheaply made so the coil probably won't last as long. Case in point, I had measured the resistance of one at a solid 6ohms awhile back. I tried using it last night for a few hours and it was total crap. Hardly any production to speak of. After milking it on 5v for like 3hrs I finally gave up. Measured the resistance one last time and it was at 4.7ohms. Eventually that polyfill inside will start to burn a little. I've seen pics over on the ECF of some nasty looking cartos, and the idea of blackened melted plastic is really a turn off. Plus like you said, the things never ever run completely dry, so eventually the little bit of leftover juice in there would probably spoil. On a positive note, a couple days ago I pulled the polyfill out of the very first 510 carto I used. I had refilled it 5 times over the course of about 3 days of solid and heavy vaping. Luckily, the poly wasn't burned in the slightest. It was a nice surprise. I haven't bought any liquids from Vapor Kings because they don't offer any VG yet. If they ever do, I'll consider it. But for now, I'll be buying *all* of my hardware from them. Super selection (best I've seen in one store really), good prices, and super fast shipping.
  15. Fantastic! Glad you were able to fix. Good luck on finding those drip tips.
  16. Dang that sux FTJoe. I hear that VaprLife has an excellent repair service for things that are out of warranty. Wonder if they'd honor it for the spade even though they don't directly sell it (they make the Spade right? Or am I way off on that?). Unless of course, you fancy fixing it yourself.
  17. Wow! Another dripping tip, now at VaprLife! Check it: http://www.vaprlife.com/driptips.html Says they're made from black delrin, but by the picture they look more like gun metal gray. At $7.99 they're a good price.
  18. Hey those new Nhaler tips are nice looking. But so far hands down I think the new generation Super T Tips look the best and they certainly look to have a larger dripping hole: http://www.supertmanufacturing.com/id72.html Gosh, within just a few short months we went from zero choices, to one choice, to now 5 choices. I love progression!
  19. Ok, so I've now officially "beer tested" these things last night and they've come out fairly well. After the first 3 beers, I started craving more of a throat hit. So I whipped out a regular 510 and went to town on it. But after about an hour I started missing that wonderful cartomizer flavor. So I switched back to one and finished a few more beers before going to bed. It's funny, I've only been using them for about a week now, but I was finding it inconvenient to direct drip into that regular 510 while I was using it. Almost 2 months of straight direct dripping, and all of a sudden it's not so convenient anymore. These cartos have quickly spoiled me. On a sidenote, my sister-in-law is not a big fan of them. She likes that they last so long (for her, from morning until late evening) but they don't give enough of a throat hit. But then again, she's using my juice, which is low nic, and she's still smoking too. So I have to wonder if a higher nic for her would satisfy all needs.
  20. ***Sorry, long post!*** Yes, VG definitely has the award in regards to vapor production. PG can't hold a candle there. But for the most part PG has a better throat hit than most VGs. WordUpEcig's VG juices are an exception though. In regards to flavor, that's too subjective for me to say either way. Some folks like the flavor transfer of a PG base better than a VG base. For me personally, I can tell a difference (just a difference in flavor), but I don't have a preference and can't say one is better than the other. It's just a difference, not a preference (for flavor I mean). I'm not allergic to PG, but I'm definitely sensitive to it. After just a short time of PG vaping, my throat starts drying out, getting sore, and then eventually I get a little hoarse. When I first started vaping, I actually thought I was better off smoking cigarettes because of the PG hurting my throat so much. So I only vape VG now. One thing I've learned about VG juice is that its properties can be much different from vendor to vendor. It's all about the specifics of the recipe. Case in point: Rath's juice. Rath's old recipe was VG, flavoring, nic, and 5% distilled water. But just recently (within the past few weeks) he's changed it to 10% distilled water. So that's twice as much distilled water as before, but yet that's only a small difference in the overall percentage of the whole mix. But this has caused a huge change in the vaping properties of the juice. At 5%, the vapor production can be thick and massive. But at 3.7V it's a little bit hit and miss. Like, you have to really prime your atty for a couple of seconds and do a few primer puffs before you get a good vapor production (at 5V, this is not an issue). However at his newer 10% distilled water recipe, vapor production is much more consistent at any voltage and no primer puffs are needed. But the overall vapor production is less than the 5% version. I've tried several other vendors' VG juices, and it really seems that perfecting the recipe is harder with VG. The chinese VG juices linger around the 10% distilled water mark. So, they're easy to vape and work ok at all voltages. But it's nothing fancy and the vapor production is nothing near Rath's 5% water recipe. For the most part you'll notice that the throat hit of VG juices are less than their PG counterparts. And from what I've heard, that's simply due to the fact that VG is *less* of an irritant to your throat. PG seems to inherently irritate the throat and mucosal membranes more than VG, no matter what flavor or level of nic. So you feel it more as a throat hit than VG. For most folks, this is an added boon. For me though, it sux After awhile of PG vaping, my throat is scratchy as all hell. WordUpEcig's VG juices retain that good PG throat hit plus a little extra. Yet they have a good VG vapor production (though still not as good as a 5% distilled water recipe). So I get the best of both worlds. If memory serves me, Everclear and other high grain alcohols do great in a recipe to add extra throat hit. So I'll have to assume that Jeff at WordUpEcig adds more alcohol than most vendors to get this throat hit. Honestly, I don't care how he does it. Because I get to have my VG cake and eat it too Adam commented on some recent VaporCast episodes how he's switched to 100% VG juice (from being a full time PG guy), and has loved it. But when he went back and tried some old-time favorite PG juices, it was uncomfortable for him. Almost like he got used to the smoothness of VG, and when he tried PG again, his body didn't like it. I really feel like VG will eventually surpass PG in regards to the overall amount of juices made. It's just so much easier on your throat.
  21. I'm totally unfamiliar with this line of devices. But it makes me wonder if the disposable 510 from madvapes (or regular 510; or 510 cartomizer kit) would be an acceptable substitute that is more easily obtainable?
  22. Ha! Holy crap that's funny! We've got a travel coming up in a few months, and it sounds like I'll need to bring an extra suitecase Keep in mind that I'm the type of guy that's used to traveling in wal-mart bags. But the wifey made me use a real suitecase on the honeymoon, so I guess there's no going back now!
  23. Was using mine on my BB (uses a 14500 protected battery). I've not actually used it on a stock/standard or even a mega 510 battery for some reason. Guess I should have done that by now. Hey Brian you're meaning 3.1volts under load right? Not 3.1volts at rest? I thought I was going crazy, so I whipped out my multimeter and tested a couple of my 510 batteries: 3.87, 3.91, and 3.99 (mega battery). I haven't actually tested any of the normal 510 batteries under load, so 3.1v sounds totally feasible considering how small they are. Just want to make sure I'm understanding.
  24. Great selection, good prices, fantastic customer service. What more can you say? I placed a large order with VaporKings.com yesterday. Here's the deal: I wanted 10 packs of 510 cartomizers (that's a total of 50 cartomizers), but the site would only allow a maximum of 5 packs to be ordered. Sooooo, I picked up the phone and spoke to a very nice man who bumped up the maximum allowable order after I explained to him how much I love these things In addition, I ordered a KR808 PCC and a car lighter to USB adapter (rated at a full 2000mah, so it's perfect to use with a passthrough when you're driving). This happened at approximately 2:30pm EST (1:30 central time). I received my order in the mailbox this morning. Yup, that's right. If you place an order before 2pm CST (that's 3pm EST) it will ship out the same day. Incredible. Okay sure, they're in the same state I am so next-day delivery is feasible and didn't cost any extra due to the relatively short delivery distance, but not many websites guarantee same-day shipping at anytime of the day. I'm totally impressed right off the bat. However, my order arrived with a single 510 cartomizer missing. I ordered 50, but received 49. Ten 5 packs of the cartomizers obviously wouldn't fit into a single priority mail flat rate shipping box, so they took some of them out of the little packages to make sure everything fit properly. I wasn't seeking compensation, b/c asking someone to mail out a single cartomizer is really just ridiculous in my opinion. But I did feel it necessary to let them know, so that perhaps in the future they can avoid any unnecessary customer service issues. Below is the email correspondence: A simple little goof that they wanted to more-than make up for. They also have a customer reward program, in which you gain points to apply a discount towards future purchases. I'll go ahead and admit that I'm a bit of a sucker for customer reward programs. But theirs is actually worth the time to keep track of! Overall, an excellent experience. And rest assured, I really will be doing business with them again soon.
  25. Yes, light and airy just like a KR808. To me personally, that's one of the few drawbacks to the 510 cartos. I actually prefer a stiffer draw as opposed to the feather-weight airiness of the KR808 and 510 cartos. But that's just a personal preference thing. I honestly can't complain about the draw being so light and airy though. It's just a little pet peeve of mine, and is easily overlooked. In regards to your experience with the 510 to 901 adapter, I think that's a function of the adapter itself. Not all adapters are made the same. I got lucky with mine, and they pretty much function as if they weren't even there at all. The draw on all the adapters I own are the same as their native device. The only issue I've had is making full contact with the atomizer. Sometimes I have to overly tighten the adapter or the atomizer down, but that's about it. Oh and BTW: My KR808 PCC came in today, and yes just as Brian pointed out, a regular 510 battery with a 510 to 901/KR808 adapter fits well and doesn't cause any issues. The 510 cartomizers on the other hand are indeed larger than the KR808 cartomizers. So I can only have the mouthpiece condom on it to fully close the case. I'm going to take it out and about with me tomorrow to fully test it. Will let you know how it works.
