Christopher got a reaction from Uma in Gaming Laptop
I'm just sort of glanced over this post but what exactly is your budget?

I agree I would go directly to the source that's what I do. Most people don't realize, but most Alienwares are actually Asus machines. (The lighted keyboard gives it away) Dell (who now owns Alienware) purchases them in bulk from Asus, (as well as other manufactures) brands them, then rapes your soul with the cost.

There are actually only a few manufactures that create laptops - Compal, Quanta, GVC, Clevo and Asus. Asus stands out because they actually sell their own product. This is unusual for a wholesale manufacture but sweet for the consumer.

I have the G73 (I need the power on the go obviously) but Asus laptops are NOT expensive. I'm guessing your looking at the Gaming line. Asus creates "lower" end laptops that are very close to spec. The main difference between "gaming" laptops and standard laptops is the dedicated video card. Most laptops use integrated video (shares the system ram) whereas a gaming machine will usually use a custom dedicated video card with it's own memory.

If you tell me your budget I might be able to find a decent machine for you.

Boiling again probably won't do any good. It sounds to me like in the process of doing a dry burn, you've charred the wick. Inside the atomizer, under the triangular-shaped piece that you see(this is called the bridge, and it's covered in metal mesh, a sort of steel wool-like material), there is a white thread-like material known as a wick. Over time, unless you're SUPER careful to keep the atomizer wet at all times(which isn't very likely when you're a newbie), you will eventually char the wick, causing this exact thing you've described(good flavor at first, still good vapor, but then after a few drags, burnt taste, despite the atty being clearly wet). I've done the same thing myself several times. It will cause you to overfill and flood your atty, yet still produce a burnt taste, which leads to much confusion. Anyway, what you'll want to do is remove as much of the wick as possible with a pair of tweezers. The problem I find with this, though, is that it's next to impossible(at least for me) to remove the whole wick(or the part that's actually charred, as that part tends to be closest to the coil, which is next to impossible to see with the bridge in there. So, when I start getting the burnt taste all the time, I just take out the bridge and the wick in one shot.

There are at least a few videos on youtube on how to remove both of these, and I will post one in a minute. But, before I do, I want to explain something. I find that while trying to debridge certain 510 atties, pulling on the bridge tends to pull the whole internal portion of the atty closer to the top of the atty tube(the part that surrounds the coil, wick, bridge, and whatever else is inside that thing. So, what I do to avoid breaking the atty altogether is stick something(I use my tweezers) down into the atty and hold there with one hand, pushing on the whole internal portion, but away from the bridge itself. Then I insert a pair of needle nose pliers, grip the bridge from both sides, squeeze it together, and start yanking/wiggling til it comes out. Then I hold a flashlight in my mouth while I remove as much of the wick as I possibly can with the tweezers. That should solve your problem, and as you're removing the wick, you'll notice parts of it are black.

One more thing before I post a link to a youtube video of this procedure... Note that when you remove the bridge and the wick, your atomizer will be more prone to flooding, since the wick and the mesh on the bridge act as a buffer or liquid holder and keep it from just flowing thru the atomizer. You will also be unable to use a cartridge with the atomizer, which means you'll need to drip. And finally, sometimes while vaping, usually the first few drags after dripping more liquid, some of the liquid will bubble and fly up, landing on your tongue. It's not that big of a deal for the most part. I don't really mind it all that much, but with high voltage or low resistance atomizers, it can get pretty darn hot. I've actually gotten a small burn on my tongue as a result of this. Considering the information I just provided, you might be thinking "well then why do I want to do this?" Well, you can either just deal with the burnt taste, use another atomizer and waste this one, or you can do what I suggested and still be able to use it. This is one of the unfortunate parts of vaping. Wicks get burnt sooner or later, at least in my experience. So if you don't drip already, I say get used to doing so. Some people, like Noxious, remove the wick immediately upon switching to a new atomizer to avoid this mess altogether. I don't know about anybody else specifically, but she prefers to leave the bridge in. To me, it doesn't really matter. In fact, I sort of like it better without the bridge, because one way I know for sure I'm out of juice is to be able to see the coil light up red, which is easier to see without the wick and bridge in the way.

And now, without further adieu, here is a video.

And here is one about removing the bridge, in case you're interested.

And finally, ONE LAST PIECE OF INFO: I personally clean my atomizers by soaking them for a few hours(usually overnight or sometimes even longer) in rubbing alcohol. Some people seem to think this is a bad idea, but it's kept my atties alive for about 5 months. I still have my very first Blu atomizer from the kit I bought this summer. I know for a fact that rubbing alcohol breaks down organic compounds, which VG is. I'm not so sure about PG though. Also, dry burning does work to burn some of the gunk off the coil, similar to how a self-cleaning oven works. However, you want to be careful when you do it as you can ruin the atomizer by letting it dry burn for too long. Should you choose to soak your atties in rubbing alcohol, I specifically use only 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol, and I rinse my atomizers thoroughly with water, blow the excess water out, and then let the atomizers dry for a few hours before using them.

What Chris said about atomizers needing more liquid than normal after cleaning IS true, but I'm guessing since you did a dry burn, you charred your atomizer. It would help to double check your wick before you do any of this, but like I said, it can be hard to see. And, your wick will probably become charred eventually anyway.

Sorry for the gigantic wall of text, but I hope it helps. Good luck, and happy vaping!

I would start with the atomizer first to be honest. Cartomizers are great, but they can be a bit of a pain to fill of your new to ecigs. I would direct drip first then after a week or so move to the cartomizers. (Or if you get bored start on them sooner)

This video is a bit old, but if you haven't watched it, give it a look over

This is probably one of the best and most interesting posts I've read so far on the forums. I have to say I agree with not only your concerns but your point of view as well. The bottom line is, nicotine is a vice pure and simple much like alcohol and caffeine. The good lord never intend that we ingest these toxins however in one way or another we have been introcuded to nicotine and over the years have become sadly Dependant. Essentially the electronic cigarette is a pacifier (or a dummy if your in the UK) for adults, it is what we use to help overcome the every day stress called life. I find it to also be a great past time. It's extremely relaxing.

That all aside I can't agree more that safety is our number once concern. It is for many suppliers, at least the good ones anyway. Why do you think Vapor Talk was one of the first liquid suppliers in the United States to add child proof caps? Because there is a very real threat of a child getting a hold of something that looks like apple juice and smells like a grape. Unfortunately there are some real "winner" parents out there and we as suppliers have to protect their children. You said you where concerned that a child may some day get a hold of juice and drink a bottle, guess what, it's already happened. (Yes you heard correct) I won't say where and what supplier was involved because it's not needed but it's happened. As far as we know, the child is fine. Luckily.

Truth be told liquid bottles in loose form will cease to exist should electronic cigarettes stay on the market for the long run. Everyone will end up using cartomizers. 2 piece units. Why? Because it's a way to not only control the nicotine levels, but it's sealed thus preventing the cotton from falling out, which of course could be eaten by a dog, cat or child.

Quality control is another major issue that is being worked on continuously. Is PG safe to vape? Let's be honest with ourselves we are on the front line of this new invention, although PG is general recognized as safe by the FDA and is used in many products such as baby wipes, vitamins etc it's never been tested in long term vapor form inhaled by humans. Granted there was a study done on monkeys for over a year, which concluded positive effects, but we really don't know the VERY long term effects. Essentially only time will tell. The general common sense assumption is, traditional tobacco is so bad that you could probably smoke tea leaves and still be better off than smoking tobacco leaves.

I think overall this product is a real step forward in helping dependent cigarette users leave traditional tobacco. Leaving nicotine however is not the ecigs best trait. The original designer of the electronic cigarette (who was inspired after his father died of lung cancer) wanted people to quite smoking with the ecig, however the units worked SO well that people instead, just replaced the delivery form. He never intended persons to use PG over a long period of time. Right now it's up to the user to have the self control to step down. Lucky this is happening more and more often, in fact ex smokers now known as vapers are starting to become more health conscious than they ever where before.

We are still in the early phases and so long as we can get the support of government agencys and watch groups we can perfect the electronic cigarette into a true NRT. Something it isn't now. Many people on the board state "I don't want to stop vaping" to me that's the nicotine talking. I think if we could make it as easy to quite as it already is to switch delivery, we could really see some massive health improvements in society. Something I one day hope we altogether can witness.

Anyway I'm getting off course here, awesome post and some very valid points.

Christopher got a reaction from Phaseman66 in Pro Vari Review
Well my Pro Vari finally arrived in the mail. Short review: This thing kicks some major balls. I've tried close to 40 mods now and nothing comes close to this bad boy. When I say this sets the new standard I mean it. I sort of picture all the mod makers working away, the guy that runs Provape walks over to the table, whips is wang out and says "lemme show you how this is done."

For obvious reasons I don't often review other suppliers products. But this thing is to good to pass up. I will create a video review once I get around to it but for now here is the text version.

(By the way Vapor Talk has no affiliation with Pro Vape. I paid full price for the unit the same as anyone else)

    Lets start with the body

Pictures don't do the Pro Vari justice. Pro Vape really needs to get some new pictures done. The pictures on their site look like someone is trying to sell a Ferrari by posting cell phone photos of the car. It just doesn't show off the beauty of the unit. Looking at their pictures I assumed the body would be made of thin aluminum. Instead I'm pretty sure it's made from DARPA's latest bullet proof technology. It's sleek, well built and looks a lot like a light saber. The atomizer fitting is well built and has recessed top cap. If liquid does happen to leak out, it's not going to run down the unit. Although not the first to implement this, it's still a nice touch. Both the top cap and end cap are chrome in color. The body is brushed steel look.

Complaints: Minor. 1. I'd love to see this unit in black. It would look amazing. 2. Your hands smell a bit like brass afterwards but I have no doubt this will fade in time. A good cleaning with some baby wipes will remedy this. I'm really nit picking here.

    The end cap

It seems minor but people often complain about the end cap on mods. IE the spring popping off, cap no screwing in smoothly etc. The cap literally screws on as smooth as a volume nob on a stereo. The entire cap covers the spring so there is absolutely no way the spring will ever pop off. It's locked up tighter than an Enron share holder.

    Built in micro controller

That's right, they put a mini computer in this thing. The Pro Vari has an amazing list of little features.

On the fly voltage adjustment - You can change your units voltage from 3.3 - 6.0 in a matter of seconds using the built in digital display. Nice.
Ohm reader - There's a damn ohm reader built in. (Wonder if Radio Shack will let me return the one I already have) Not sure if your using a LR atomizer? Use the built in ohm tester to find out.
Voltage Checker - Check the currently voltage on your battery
LED on off - Turn off or on the LED
Sleep mode - Need to pack your unit and go? Put it into sleep mode and it will shut down to stop the battery from draining. This essentially disabled the button but you still have access to the LED feature screen.

All this is controlled via the built in LED screen. Slick. The screen is covered by a magnified piece of glass/plastic making it easy to read the red display. 6 quick clicks and your into the menu. 10 clicks and it turns into a stealth fighter.

    The Button

Often over looked but extremely important. This is what I was probably worried about the most. The pictures show what looks like a plastic cheap button. Not the case at all. The button is large. sturdy and comfortable on the hands. It's clear and has an embed LED to show you when the unit is engaged. While only time will tell, I don't see the button going out any time soon.

    Battery Life

All day. ProVari takes a single 18490/18500 battery which needs to be purchased seprate. While I haven't really tested the battery life, I did use the battery right out of the box without charging it. I ran at 4.1 volts (the happy spot for me) and it lasted well over 12 hours without an issue. This wasn't constant vaping but the battery didn't die. My guess is you'll get plenty of battery life. I'm sure other members will report on this later.

To sum it up The Pro Vari is an amazing ecig mod. With all the bells and whistles anyone could ask for and a 1 year warranty to boot, this is money well spent. Granted the price tag at $150 bucks is steep, this could easily be the last mod you ever need to buy.

    Quick list of features

    on/off mod
    16 second saftey cut off
    Short Circuit atomizer protection
    reverse batery protection
    battery monitor
    over discharge protection
    termal monitoring
    microprocessor controlled
    LED on/off
    volt checker
    on the fly voltage changing
    ohm reader
hidden stealth fighter option (joke, please don't email asking how to enable this)

Green Smoke is a "name brand" electronic cigarette if you will. They are usually cartomizer models and are over priced. (Or at least they where, I haven't checked their prices as of late) Bottles liquid usually isn't an option which can save you money.

901 is an older model no loner used. Though, some use the 901 atomizer on their custom mods. (Not something important if you're new to ecigs)

808 is also an older model no longer used. Again, the atomizer is sometimes used by advanced members on custom mods.

I suggest going with the eGo. It's durable and the battery life is amazing. There are many add ons for it. Once you have your eGo grab a cup of coffee, take your eGo, fill it, vape it, sit back and read what other models use to be.

Great job and great stories everyone. At the very least our voices will be heard.

I would also suggest everyone in NY make a note of who votes for this bill. Let's make sure you vote against them next time the elections come up. ECF, Nu Vapor, Vapor Talk, CASSA, Vapers Forum and National Vapers are all watching this closely. That's quite a few votes.

Those are a little trickier to refill,I think you have to poke the filler out of the cart with a paper clip .It is in a little cup ,if you try to drip the liquid into it and you miss it goes around the cup of filler and into your mouth. They are like the Joye 306 carts .There also is condensation that forms in the chamber behind the filler and you might be getting that.I would think you could blow through the cart and into a tissue to get the liquid and ondensation out from where it is not sposed to be.Here is a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gxi-W9l_T1w

The Court of Appeals dissolved its March 31st stay of Judge Leon's injunction. In English, Judge Leon (District Court) issued a preliminary injunction against the FDA, telling it that it could no longer seize NJOY and SE's shipments while the case was being heard.

The FDA appealed Judge Leon's grant of the preliminary injunction to the Court of Appeals. The Court of Appeals said that until it actually had time to fully consider the issues, Judge Leon's injunction would be stayed (put on hold).

The Court of Appeals has now dissolved that stay, effectively making Judge Leon's preliminary injunction once again in full force and effect.

While this is directed at NJOY, this should in effect, potentially stop the FDA for seizing products at the border.
