Rixter reacted to Compenstine in Vaping Etiquette Question
One that I do all the time, When in a new restaurant or public place like a bar always ask if vaping is allowed and don't blow big clouds if allowed to vape.
Don't vape while filling your car with Gas. It may not cause an issue, but remember it is a hot coil and any spark could cause a fire.

In light of recent revelations regarding e liquids and flavorings that contain Diacetyl, Acetoin, and/or Acetyl Propionyl, I decided to start a thread where DIYers could post results of their findings about flavors they've researched.
I'm currently waiting on responses from several suppliers that I use regularly, and as soon as I receive some information, I'll post it here. I urge other DIYers to do the same.
Also, I'm sure that Diacetyl, Acetoin, & Acetyl Propionyl aren't the only things we need to be looking out for in our juices, so if anyone has anything they'd like to share on other potentially dangerous ingredients, feel free to share that information as well.

This guy really seems to know about the chemistry of eliquid. If you're interested, you can find more of his YouTube videos here.

Here's a link to FlavourArt's lab analysis of individual flavors performed by Enthalpy Analytical, Inc.
    From the website:
"FlavourArt is proud to be the first flavour company in North America to publicize Enthalpy testing results. We are committed to professionalism, community support, advocacy and research towards the betterment of the vaping industry. This is our third party lab analysis of our complete North American flavour compendium conducted by Enthalpy Labs in June/July of 2015."
"The head PHD at Enthalpy was quoted as saying that our results are "amazing”, however we are never satisfied and continue to work at making safer aromatic flavours for eliquid use."

I should also mention at this point that just because someone's using a regulated box mod doesn't mean that a battery won't vent if pushed too hard...Ohm's Law still applies. There's just more safety features in the circuitry of regulated mods to help prevent catastrophes.

Sigelei silver dragon mod from kidney puncher. Vct4 is real based on those sites you sent. I always double check my coils and battery level with a multimeter and give plenty of headroom.

Assuming that you fully understand Ohm's Law, if you are able to confirm your atty's .3Ω resistance with an ohmmeter, then that probably isn't the problem. The main thing is to make sure that your battery can put out more continuous amps than your load is pulling, and if you're unsure of your battery's legitimacy, then you can't know if it can do that. I personally avoid the Sony VTCs solely because there are so many fakes out there.
As far as higher amp safety fuses, I really don't know of anything any higher than the VapeSafe.
In fact, due to a venting battery a few months ago, I shelved all of my mechs in favor of regulated box mods. I've heard of quite a few mechs blowing up over the years, but I've yet to hear of a single regulated box mod popping.
BTW...what mod are you referring to in the OP?

One more thing...due to their limited availability and high price, Sony VTCs are probably the most faked/counterfeited batteries on the planet. The fakes could have decent cores, or they could be accidents waiting to happen. Many legit dealers have been fooled into stocking the fakes in the past (or so I've heard). Here's a link from BudgetLightForum.com that might help in distinguishing fakes from the real deal.
Here's another informative article from Sun Vapers:

Sorry...I didn't see the original post about the .3Ω load and Sony VTC4. I just saw the post about the mech mod.
Anyway, if I'm not mistaken, the Smoke Vapesafe Fuse (if that's what you're using) is a 7A fuse, and .3Ω on a fresh (4.2v) battery is around 14A, so that's why it's cutting you off. As far as your other issues, I have no clue.

When in temp control mode, it shouldn't matter how high you set your wattage...your device is going to drop back on power (watts) when the coil reaches your preset temp (Fahrenheit or Celsius ). The only thing that setting your power to a higher level does is get you to your preset temp faster (less ramp up time).
Also, a good place to start with your temp settings is at or below the flash point of dry cotton (420°F or 215°C).

I'm trying to figure out why you would want to vape at 200 watts. I mean, your mod may produce 200 watts,  but 30 watts per coil (provided your airflow is completely unrestricted) is far above what's needed to produce thick clouds of vapor.
