I need your help vouching!

Recommended Posts

I'm starting to get tired of not being able to vape indoors at work simply because of the negative conotation and relationship it seems to have with analogs.

If you guys have ANY actual studies (by known PHD or universitys, not Dr.Smith from university of wikipedia) I would love to see them!!!

I'm going to be pleading my case to the office pretty soon but would like to be ready for any rebutles. Was going to start comparing it to caffein, what do you think? I've seena couple studies comparing the two and even 3 on this blog but I'm having trouble beleiving them...

Any factual stuff would be great!

Even any ideas as to how this debate could be won would be awesom.

I've also read that it does introduce more nicotine to the surrounding area kindof liek second hand smoke. True or false?

Thanks a lot everyone!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news. That battle is long lost. I understand your grief and pain. But, vaping is now regulated as a tobacco product and subject to those rules. It doesn't matter if Joe Jones thinks it's the greatest thing in the universe, it's still subject to tobacco laws and regulations. I'm afraid you're going to lose this one. Again I hate to be the bearer of bad news or play devil's advocate advocate for that matter but that's just the way it is in my opinion.

I vape in my office and have no plans to stop unless my job is threatened. With that said, Bebop is probably right. Even though I fully believe there not to be appreciable second hand danger if any at all laws are laws. IN my state they have not done anything to include vaping with the smoking laws and in fact there is legislation to NOT include such.

With that said it is MUCH easier to get away with vaping in areas you are not supposed to than it would be with smoking. Bathrooms, when no one is looking, etc. With a 70% PG liquid you can hold it in till there is no vapor to exhale. I use No PG added liquid and it almost goes away if you hold it in long enough. Its how I do it on airplanes, in stores, malls, etc....

Thing is Im north of the boarder. (montreal, canada)

The only issue there was pending more info was on airplanes. and basically the transportation law makers told the canadian airlines to decide for themselves if they would allow it on their planes or not.

Tthere are no regulations yet.

From my understanding in the US it depends on the state. Some are saying "im not making a decision so do whatever you want" and other are saying " until its proven to be safe we dont want it around".

that being said... its still unregulated here. So i would like to have as many facts as possible before having the discussion, as I am actually the chairman of the health and safety comitee (as ironic as it sounds). haha! :police:

That's cool. I would take the time to read the links and various postings made in the health and safety sections of this website as nearly everything that has come out that supports vaping has been posted in the last 6months or so. There are some reputable studies. It's all there it just might take a while to put it all together. I wish you luck. You might have an edge over us here in the States

I would avoid the discussion as it would probably end up with them ruling on the safe side. I agree about just cutting a low profile and not flaunting it. It is usually not that hard to get out of sight for a few puffs and there is not much evidence left behind unless you insist on chasing clouds. I work at a hospital and they are trying to avoid making a policy as they realize it is better than having people in hospital gowns and wheelchairs sitting in the rain and snow across the street to get their nicotine fix. But at the same time if they say it is ok then there will be people walking around the halls blowing huge clouds . And I don't really think I have a right to share my habit with someone who does not wish to partake. The tv commercials are really not helping matters with the insinuation that it is ok it is just water vapor. We know it is not just water vapor or we wouldn't be wasting our time and money.

I hate to say it as well, but your employer sets the standards for your job, your building, your workstation guidelines... If they say, "no more coffee at your desk", then that's their prerogative, and now a term of your employment... just the same if they say "no more blue ink-pens".

Arguing the benefits of health, safety, cleanliness, smell, etc. etc. etc... will only put you on the "list"... IMO.

As for what has been formally written... both sides of the debate are working hard to discredit the other, and the real fact is that the jury is still out on the matter, regarding health-safety of the vaper, and those around them. We just don't know... And, don't look for any definitive evidence to support either side. Any independent studies performed that prove health-benefits or safety of others will be shot-down by the government (backed by big-tobacco/big-pharma), or the media. Any government sponsored studies will be bought-and-paid-for before the first test is performed, and the results will be "inconclusive" (so they can apply for more grant money), or firmly showing horrible dangers in vaping (because contrary evidence would destroy the tobacco industry).

  • 2 weeks later...

I`m hoping (and praying) the tide turns. That common sense comes back to this country and we the people start doing our own research instead of believing whatever someone with a "special interest" tells them.

But its hard to herd the sheeple, and the tail is always wagging the dog.

And yet allot on the other side do that every day, day in and day out, and they do it in front of camera`s no less.

I wont mention any names, but reid and pelosi come to mind.
