I agree with Edna, we probably could use a subforum just for DIY recipes. I know that everyone has different tastes, and what may taste good to one person may not taste good to someone else. I mostly use Flavor West flavoring, and they will differ from other flavor makers, which people have to consider when mixing flavors.

I had several teeth extracted a few years ago, and vaped without any issues afterwards, but I changed from mouth-to-lung airflow to a more open direct-to-lung airflow, which reduced the chances for getting a dry socket.
As a side-note... a lot of dentists don't know the facts on vaping, and will tell you false info regarding how bad it is for your teeth.  One of my favorites is that "PG is very bad for your teeth"... ummm... if it were bad for your teeth, it wouldn't be a chief ingredient in mouthwash and toothpaste, lol.  Another biggie is "All those sweet flavors in vape are like sucking on sugar all day"... ummm... no, that is also false because while there are sweet flavors and sweeteners in some vape flavors, they are not nearly as bad as drinking a cola or eating a candy bar.  Also, since I started vaping, my hygienist and dentist could not be happier with my check-ups.  Vape does not stain my teeth like tobacco (or coffee) did, and my cleanings take 10 min!  My dentist has also said my teeth and gums are healthier now than they were 5 years ago.

Most of my flavors are FW but the chocolate I use comes from TFA and is almost clear, and the coils last longer. I don't know how it compares to the dark chocolate but it does taste like chocolate to me. It seems like when I add a little TFA caramel to the mix it brings out the chocolate flavor a little more. I hope eventually I can find a lighter color coffee flavor, but probably not.

Nah, I don't get tired typing about what I love
The PG and VG won't need to be placed into glass or smaller bottles, unless you just want to make them easier to store.  I frequently store my PG and VG in the gallon or liter bottles they came in, and only separate them into smaller bottles once I open the seal on a gallon jug... not to mention, the mini-fridge I use in my office won't accommodate too many gallon jugs   The gallons tend to go into the deep-freeze!
I also do not pre-mix anything... it makes it much harder to factor and figure your mixes if you're pre-mixing PG/VG/Nicotine, because you're limiting yourself on the amount of flavorings you can use to achieve the 70/30 or 50/50 mixes you want, and run the risk of further diluting your nicotine to a lower level than you think it is (which might not be a bad thing).  I leave everything separate until I'm ready to mix a juice to completion!
Another reason I don't pre-mix VG/PG/Nicotine is that they have different shelf-lives, and I don't want to shorten the shelf-life of my PG by mixing VG with it... if that makes sense?  PG has a shelf life at room temp of 10-15 years... in the freezer it will keep nearly forever.  VG has a shelf life of 5-7 years at room temp... 10-30 years in the freezer...  Nicotine has the lowest shelf life... 2-5 years if mixed with VG, and 4-7 years if mixed with PG (at room temp, with no air in the bottle)... Oxygen degrades it rapidly, but sealed in glass bottles as I mentioned above, placed in the freezer, and you'll get a decade (minimum) out of storage.  Flavorings typically last anywhere from 2-10 years without freezing... but it depends on the flavor and if it is mixed with PG base, natural flavor, artificial flavor, alcohol content, etc.

If you do vape and wind up with a dry socket use oil of clove soaked on cotton and put it in the socket. It stops the pain really fast. The eugenol  is extremely effective. It also prevents infection. I had major oral surgery and that's what my surgeon gave me. I keep it on hand and have helped a few friends on weekends who couldn't get to the dentist until Monday with it. I'm not a doctor but do have a nursing degree so I'm not talking nonsense. Tam is right though, you want to wait until your clot is firmly established before sucking anything.
You can get oil of clove at a health food store. It tastes really strong but you get used to it.

My confirmation of shipping was received on July 2nd...  but that just means they created a label.  It may be weeks before it actually leaves mainland China, and my packages seem to be shipped to Panama, and then delivered by pack-mule to the US border in AZ where carrier pigeons fly it to the US Customs office in Chicago (where it will sit and rot for another week or two), before being released from hostage-status to the USPS for final delivery (about 3-days, whereas I can drive to Chicago in 6-hours).

The best places to keep your PG, VG, Nicotine base, and flavorings is in the freezer, or at the very least, in the fridge.  It is best to keep bottles as full as possible to prevent Oxygen degradation from occurring.  Plastic bottles are okay, but I would invest in a few dozen amber or blue Boston Round bottles of varying sizes... 8oz down to 1oz, with cone-caps... as well as 1/2oz, 1oz, 2oz, and 4oz amber or blue Boston round bottles with dropper-caps for holding your mixed flavors.  Plastic are fine, but glass is reusable .  I would avoid Mason jars or anything large/fragile.  Those Boston Round bottles are pretty tough and really hard to break!
Here is what I do...  I buy my Nicotine base in liter containers (when I can), and I transfer that directly into 2oz or 4oz amber glass Boston Round bottles (with cone-caps, not dropper caps).  I fill them near to the brim, so the cone-cap can seal them tight without any excess air.  Be careful when you do this, and use surgical gloves and work on a surface that can be cleaned easily just in case you spill anything.
I do the same thing with my PG/VG, but I put those into 8oz bottles... because I use more of those, and Oxygen doesn't affect them nearly as much, so the bottles I'm currently working from stay on my shelf at room temp... nothing worse than trying to syringe-up frozen VG... it's like molasses in January, lol.
Flavorings are also moved to glass Boston Round bottles, if they aren't already bought that way.  I don't worry about moving those to smaller bottles... I just work from the 4oz bottles I buy them in, and they also stay in the freezer (for the ones I use less frequently), or the fridge (for my go-to flavors).  As long as they are kept out of sunlight, and in a cool place, they will be fine for a couple of years, though.  My go-to flavors typically get used in a few months, so I've never really worried about them going bad before I use them, and sometimes just leave those bottles on the shelf in my office... which is also where I do most of my mixing... because I have the space there, and it's quiet, cool, good lighting, and nobody bothers me there.  I also have a bathroom 5' away, so I can quickly wash/shower away any catastrophic spills...
Another thing... buy some stick-on labels... like the Avery-style in 1"x2" or 2"x3" so you can label the bottles with what is in them, as well as a date it was bottled.  A date may seem odd, but you'd be amazed how handy it is to know which bottle has been neglected, so you can keep your stock rotated and fresh!  The Avery labels can also be fed through a printer, so you can make labels more legible, too.  And, on glass, the labels can be easily removed during cleaning of the bottle for re-use.

I don't use to many FW flavorings, but have noticed the chocolates they carry are very dark. Yes I would still go at least 20. If you want a lighter color Chocolate then you may want to try The Flavor Apprentice (TFA). When it comes to chocolate and coffee flavors are dark by nature. The Caramel from TFA is a med tan color. I think it has good flavor as well.

The darker color flavors will burn out coils faster, but it is the flavor that really matters. You know when it has too much flavor if it has a chemical after taste.

I'll toss you a bone Tug... As a rule do not go below 20% on any flavoring to start, except Tobacco flavors. On high VG mixes that rule changes to 25%.

I agree completely, I'd like to see more US products available but the funny thing is, in the retail store for a while we carried a wide array of US products. (Not listed online) They naturally had higher prices because the cost is higher and I'd say 80% of the customers (except the diehard loyal US supporters) all opted for the Chinese brands as (at least these days) they offer a pretty dependable product.
I think the whole PMTA ordeal has also likely killed off potential here in the US which is a sad, sad state of affairs.
At any rate though I'll get these order in tonight, they should be here mid next week and while most of you are stocked up, the price should be reasonable for future orders. (and I'll get anything else in request fairly quick if I'm notified)

I don't mind spending a little more if it helps to support the forum, actually I would prefer to buy vape products made in the US, but I don't think there are any, not saying there's anything wrong with the Kanger stuff made in China, because they do make a good dependable product or I wouldn't be using their stuff exclusively. its just I would prefer to buy American made stuff. There was a rumor that the Hohm Slice is made in the US, but found out it was designed here and manufactured in China, same is true of Evolve. I did read somewhere, I can't remember where but rumor has it that the TC Kanger uses was designed by TI. I guess that's close enough.

We actually have a really awesome lawyer and on forums, generally speaking we're liabless. It's a bit hard to explain but we've already had a few companies try to come after us (earlier on nothing recent) I'm sure it'll be fine. I'll get everything setup this evening so the DIY'ers can go to town

.I realized getting started would be expensive...but I never thought I'd be getting this into it. I'm having all kinds of fun...I enjoy the taste of things again and want to try them all....I think I've spent about $300 and I have to stop but I wanted to make sure that if the deeming cuts us off I had back ups.... so I jumped in the vape pool with both feet. Now I have to start behaving.
But there's just so much cool stuff.....

I noticed with fasttech that if you click on your orders it will tell you if something will ship right away or if it has some lead time like "ships in 7 days" on each item. So it seems that it will only get going when the last thing on your purchase is ready.
I ordered a couple of things and only after I paid did I realize that one of the items wouldn't be ready to ship for 12 days so I canceled that one item and the rest of the order shipped the  next day.
I then went in and reordered the slow item with the credit for the cancelled one. So most of what I wanted arrived quicker and the other later. It's better than holding up coils or something if you are going to be needing them soon.

That's a good haul, Edna... but don't worry about spending any inheritance just yet, lol... in a few more months you'll spend very little on vape-gear to maintain what you have.  I've spent maybe $300 in the past 12-15 months, buying coils, DIY stuff, batteries, and a couple of subtank mini kits (to save back for a rainy day).  Three years ago, I would have spent that same $300 in six or seven weeks of buying analogs!!

Immediately following a root canal, I vaped and was fine.
While I'm no health professional, in my experience, you do not want to be sucking on anything following a tooth extraction. When they take a tooth out, a clot forms in the socket where the tooth used to be. You do not want to be sucking on anything (vaping, smoking, a straw in a drink, etc.) because that could cause the clot to dislodge and come out. This is called a dry socket, and it's the worst pain you'll ever feel. It will make the pain of an abscess feel like nothing at all. You don't want to be doing that. Why not wait to meet with the dentist and see what she says first before coming to any conclusions?

I have been wrapping my own coils for quite awhile now. When I make a new coil for a RBA I try for .5 ohms, but they vary between .49 and .53, not a big difference, and don't notice a difference when vaping. I use TC for these coils, I let the mod figure it out. All I do is set the temp, and that varies between juices anyway.

Don't listen to Bebop.  He can be a little zealous, overly dramatic and extraordinarily pompous sometimes. I know him personally and will deal with him accordingly.  Just know that he holds coil builders in the highest regards and likens them to the great artisans of the past whose monuments endure the ages and awe generations.

Im sure if he were here right now he'd say something simple like  " If thoust aim for .4 and thou strike .38 or .42 then thee have hit the bull's eye as surely as the archer has split the apple atop his son's head" or something like that.

They are fine to use, Edna. The coils you build yourself are most often better because you control the build, the wicking, etc. It's like the difference between a homemade meal from scratch versus something like a TV dinner. Some TV dinners are nearly gourmet quality while others are clearly... not, but none are quite as good as something that's made at home with fresh ingredients and a time tested recipe. That's all.
