That's what makes this forum so great. I still feel like I owe this forum for how much it helped me in the early days. It's easy now but not in the early days especially finding a flavor I liked. I bet I shipped out 2000ml of unwanted liquids before I found what I like. Gotta pay it forward!

after getting the generic ego with disposable tank I went and got myself the EMOW starter kit. adjustable airflow, voltage, not too big, decent tank capacity. I couldnt ask for more... and the price point was 75$. the disposable and ego set up came out to 60 with 2 bottles of juice... i would of much rather spend the 75 on a good starter kit!

Hmm, I don't have to look back too far, but I would definitely say, stay away from the cigalikes, and go straight for a beginner battery (Evod Twist or Spinner 1 or 2), and get a good pyrex tank (protank or Nautilus). Take some time to sample various liquids in a brick and mortar and find a couple that I really like. Make sure to start with a higher nicotine level, and go down in level as needed.

Okay, I've been clumsy lately, and banged my MVP and tanks around a bit more than usual... especially knocking the rig over on my desk! So, I considered one of those "rubber-band" thingies to help pad the Pyrex on my tanks.... That is, I considered them until I saw the prices for a strip of silicone!

So, being the ingenious person I am, lol... I remembered that I had hundreds of feet of 550 paracord lying around (which I make key-chains, survival bracelets, lanyards, dog-collars, etc. from when I'm really, really bored).

Five minutes later, I have a Four-Bight-Turk's-Head tied around one of my AeroTanks, and not only is it decorative, but it should provide a small amount of protection from drops and knocks? It also slides up or down (with a little force, because I tightened it up quite a bit) so I can still see how much juice is left in the tank

    What do you think?

Ok, so I'm not naming names, but a few people from this group helped me out immensely. Lets just say its like Christmas around here.

Buuut.... Someone provided me with an aero base for my protank 2, and I have to say, it is the best thing ever! I filled my protank with the usual juice (dopey drops), put the tank together using the aero base, and 2 things are immediately different. 1. it does not leak! no more flooding the battery head! and 2. the flavor is soooo much better now! This may all be in my head, but I am so happy right now!

To those of you that decided to bless me and my hubby, I thank you again. I honestly can't believe how helpful everyone on this forum has been (I don't have very good luck on forums and such, I seem to be a troll magnet).

Thank you for reinstating my faith in humanity, apparently there is hope.

    Hugs to everyone!

YES... and Kudos for your quick (and well said) answers... see, you're learning faster than you thought

I'll add to the OP to also look at our preferred vendors section on the home-page of the forum. These vendors are allowed to be "preferred" for a reason There are plenty of great online shops (as well as local Brick-and-Mortar sites), but be wary of any deal that seems too good to be true (i.e. eBay, Craigs List, etc.), as they usually are selling knock-offs, seconds, cheap-clones, etc. That being said, there are some really good clones, and some really good knock-offs/re-brands that can be had for big $ savings... but they are hit-and-miss

Best battery for a beginner? Simple is best in my mind. I would vote for either an Evod Twist or a Vision Spinner 2. Both are simply plug and play. lol Easy to charge, easy to use. Get a starter kit or just get the battery by itself, and buy a tank separately. Good tanks would be either a Protank or a Nautilus.

Juices are subjective. Look for flavor profiles that suit your personal tastes. As to nicotine level, that depends on you. I'm a pack a day smoker, so I started with a high nicotine level (24 and 18), but you can get levels all the way down to 0.

You are exactly right! I have never used that feature, but will now that you pointed it out, I never realized it did that.

Please don't think I was referring to you Earthling!

It seems like every one I meet on the streets using a mvp gets this wrong! I have only encountered 3. 2 were B&M employees, and 1 a hotel clerk. Each one had a nautilus on them and I asked them what settings they are running them on. The guy I asked at the vape shop a few weeks ago told me he was running 5volts and 8watts. I had my app on my phone, so I asked him where he got a 3ohm coil for a nautilus. He said it isn't it is a 1.8 ohm. I just had to smile. The guy next to me kinda snickered under his breath....

I didn't touch the davide. It does just fine on it's own. (I'm buying more of these, 2ml or not)

The smallest bit I could find on a quick trip to the hardware store was a 1/16th (.062). The original air holes in the protank appear to be roughly 1/32.

I drilled out 2 of the three holes and it was probably a little too much. Using rough math, a hole twice as large gives 4Xs the airflow so as it turns out. Drilling 1 hole out to 1/16 was enough to give better performance and is about right. Drilling 2 was not a deal breaker bit probably too much and more than necessary.

I drilled out 1 hole on the evod and it wasn't quite enough so I drilled out 2 it was a good improvement.

The result: drilling out the protank and the evod greatly improved both vapor and flavor production.

However, they still do not meet the Davide as equal. I suspect there are a couple of other factors:

    1. The evod is plastic - enough said. Plastic tanks just don't measure up to glass

    2. I suspect fine tuning is necessary based on coil resistance and voltage ( an argument for airflow control). Either engineered hole size or more simply airflow control base.

    3. Design: there are other design differences in the tanks - capacity, length of chimney, diameter of chimney, inherent restiance in body and base etc...

Conclusion - much can be improved by adjusting airflow, either by drilling out holes or using airflow control in combination with voltage and resistance but NOTHING BEATS A GOOD DESIGN!

There is one solution, but you need to start with a new coil. Are you using the single head coils? If yes, take a new coil out and remove the chimney there is a flavor wick on top of the coil and will come off very easily, Remove it, but be careful not to damage the coil. A pair of tweezers works well. Then get some organic cotton balls ($4.99 at Walgreens) and replace the favor wick with a cotton one and then put the chimney back on. This will help stop the juice from flowing past the coil and out the bottom. I have had this issue with high PG juice and that solved it. If you use an old coil the flavor wick is fused to the coil with gunk and it will not come off very easy, you will damage the coil.

You only need a small amount of cotton:

Roll it between your fingers untill it is about the same size as the notch in the coil head:

Lay it on top of the coil and replace the chimney:

    Then trim the ends:

Doing this will help stop the leaking through the center pin. Make sure you allow time for the wick to absorb juice before you vape or the coil will burn the wick. If you like you can add a couple drops of juice on the wick before you put the chimney back on.

I am with y'all. I tried all forms of tobacco. I kept on smoking. Chantix worked for a while, but I got to a point were the cigarettes were the only thing that would calm my brain. Now that I am vaping, I don't have cravings nearly as often, and when I do, a few puffs on the vape and they pass.

I am seeing I go for much longer periods without vaping than I did smoking, and if we have to run an errand down the street, or short trips (a few hours), I don't even bring my MVP with me. The same trip would have had anywhere from 2-4 cigarettes. Business meetings are much less tedious, also.

One problem I have found is that I normally took the trash out when I smoked (I didn't smoke in the house). I don't go outside as much, therefore the trash doesn't get taken out as often. My wife has informed me that this is unacceptable and must be changed...

I love paying it forward to those in this forum. Without all the great people here helping me at first I have no doubt I would have failed in my attempt to kick the analogs. The other "big" forum is filled with trolls and people there seem to want to get a laugh instead of helping noobs out. I feel a debt of my life to those that helped.....you know who you are!

Welcome! And I second what Earthling said. A simple Evod twist or Spinner 2 battery would be a fine starter, the juice is what is really important. Stay away from the juices that you see in gas stations, liquor stores, etc. Find a good brick and mortar vapor store (if they have them in your area), or try any of the juices here in the Vapor Talk store. You want to probably start with a high nicotine (18 or 24 mg) to start, just to ensure that you stay off of the analogs. If you want to delve into other devices later, cool, but you don't need much to start.

Enjoy! its great feeling not dependent on the analogs!

One of the only things that can keep me from smoking, other than vaping, is a great meal. Sounds great! My wife made beef stew with cornbread tonight. It was an overcast, cool, damp day today. It hit the spot! I can't wait for morning, she is making breakfast burritos with homemade tortillas and pico de gallo. I love Sunday mornings!

    I agree!

I will say one thing, this board has some of the most experience I have found. At the same time, everyone seems to check their attitudes at the door. There is a lot of personality, but very few arguments. That is why I enjoy this place so much!

    Welcome to Vapor Talk!

Thank you... I'm a far cry from "wealthy", but do enjoy sharing a good deal when I find them (and can afford them). I get great pleasure out of giving gifts, and I've had such success using vaping to stop smoking (only method to EVER work for me), that I truly wish I could afford to buy every smoker I know a starter-kit!

To be honest, though, my initial thought was to hoard about half of the batteries for myself, lol, but after I received nearly a dozen tanks and almost half a liter of assorted juices (contests and freebies), I knew that Karma was knocking on my door, and I had the perfect opportunity to share my good fortune and hopefully help a few others become ex-smokers!

Even though I now use more advanced hardware, I still keep an eye out for really good deals on eGo's and basic tanks (MT3, EVOD, etc)... I would love to always have a few spares, ready to gift-away as starter kits

Well picked up some other grips a few days ago to try and make a duel 18650.
Never have I worked on something that aggravated me so much lol.
After moving the fire switch 3 times I finally got it to work. I need to work on the contacts for the neg side of the battery to make it look cleaner but that's what prototyping is for.
Sucks I have to leave next week and will be gone for 3 weeks, I could sell over a dozen of them right now lol

I do love the smell too.

I don't like the smell of an ashtray. I never liked the stale smoke in clothes, or in a house. I do like the smell of a burning cigarette, or cigar. I do remember just a little over 100 days ago how terrible it tasted!
