  1. I hear ya, and I do have a voltmeter and all the tools. My bud even gave me the cotton and kanthal to get me started and a trident. I drilled out the trident vents to 5/32 on my drill press so thats a start. I just feel like I am going to blow myself up.
  2. Haha, its an 1890 Opinel. I reshaped the blade, kick, grinds, handle, hand jigged the cherry wood with a file and its my beater work knife. She's a work horse friction folder. How is that new coil build? Thick gauge wire. I really wan't to learn about this. I have held off on trying because I really wan't to know what I am doing before I jump in. Thanks!
  3. Awesome combos! This really helps to see whats out there for a new guy like me. I hope this one catches on! Here is what I had along today. image by Richstag, on Flickr Same old. Sparc, that is a sleek looking setup! Well done! Vince, that stingray is killer and that coil build looks ultra refined.
  4. I'm not an expert on this but my thinking was enjoyable life of the battery. Where as I pull these out and it's still half charge but it wasn't pushing like I want. I'm hoping to use the regulator to give me constant output through the entire discharge cycle. I have put this tank on my buddies 20w Variable output and found the sweet spot is 8 watt. I intend to use the kick with these cartos then switch to try the 1.7ohm cartos. I will be able to run them at lower voltage. I will report back with honest results.
  5. Thought this might be fun to start an ongoing thread to post pictures or descriptions of your carry for the day. Today I was on the go and could not have my heavy brass mech along. I had my Kanger 600mah and Mini Protank III Perfect out and about. Hope this one keeps on going. It can get to be a lot of fun to see how people swap back and forth and why.
  6. http://www.lighthound.com/NyoGel-760G-25GM-Tube_p_1344.html MOD's, Please let me know if linking to vendors is a no-no. Most forums I frequent its not proper form. Thanks,
  7. I don't remember where I bought it but I will see if I can check it out and send you a message.
  8. Also with my brass Loki V2 tank its actually just brass covers with stainless plugs. Something that would have held me back otherwise.
  9. You know my take on this, Ry. Let that patina grow. The more the better. Shows the personality. But hey, I am a big carbon/tool steel guy in general for knives, firearms and etc. I love patina. As for the threads, like I mentioned, for oxidation all steels will form this. I learned from a chemist, in my knife making trials, that even stainless forms a layer of oxidation but its clear. If need be I can get you the exact chemical composition of these types of oxidation for you to research further. For threads you can use the Nyogel 760. I learned about this in my days with high end flashlights and mods. Surefire Flashlight company uses both 760 and 779 exclusively for their flashlight threads, electrical contacts and O-rings. Here is a quote from Nyogel specifically interesting to copper... Cross threading should not be an issue since you are not careless. You should be able to differentiate ends. You will copper mod.
  10. Thanks man, I love it. My buddy checked this out at work and he couldn't believe how smooth the threads are with the grease. It really made it hit harder too. I have a Kick 2 on the way to use with the 18350's. I really like the compact size but they die real fast. Hoping the kick will at least give me constant power through the discharge cycle.
  11. IMG_20140518_130928 by Richstag, on Flickr Does anyone else use the nyogel? I use 779 for coarse threads and preventing corrosion on contacts. Got these during my flashoholic days.
  12. 18350 stacked plus 2.7ohm equals burning carto. Haha.
  13. Here is her EVOD Glass with 600mah Kanger (3.7v Constant) image by Richstag, on Flickr Next to mech in 18350 mode with 23mm diameter assembly and 22mm diameter tank.
  14. Why not pick up an EVOD Glass for 8 bucks to try the 1.5ohm coil? Thats the setup I have my girl on. It never leaks on her and it gives GREAT vapor.
  15. IMG_20140510_193137_edit by Richstag, on Flickr Kanger Mini Protank 3 Kanger 600mah battery Look at the diameter of various products to match.
  16. I was getting about a week out of my coils in the protank 3 mini. Filled it about 5 times a day. 70/30. Never a dry hit.
  17. The thickness thing was relating to wicking issues. A lower ohm at the same voltage is going to draw more juice out of the wicks faster. The thinner juices run through the wick and to the coil faster. Make sense?
  18. Oh no. I only run my kager 3.7v on 1.5ohm coil and it produces a LOT larger clouds than a cig.
  19. I use 70/30 VG/PG in protank 3 mini. NEVER a dry hit and it will produce a lot of vapor. The 1.5ohm dual coil units from Kanger are very good.
  20. All very good info. I am sure its going to be greatly appreciated by the OP. Thanks for explaining your stance. I think vaping is such a personal thing. Even my buddy and I look for completely different things out of the experience. Money is an object for me. A huge one. I am just starting a new career and my startup cost was felt hard.
  21. That's a good point on reliability. I have no idea how much abuse the electronics in the Sigeli 20w can take. My buddy has the mech's for out on the water. I think I will just take an 11$ ego battery and 8$ evod glass tank for boating. Drop it in it wont hurt so bad. I know my bud's sigeli is running with a sony 18650 2600mah and it last a long long time with something like an areotank with dual coil at 2.0 ohm. Drop it on an oil rig and bang it around? Good question.
