  1. Remember you asked... Yeah it will work, but its like putting a new driver in the seat of a 18 wheeler. Either will get the hang of it or quit altogether. You planing to ride in the second seat and give directions for a long time? Not knowing whether or not your friend was just looking to switch or was interested in becoming a enthusiast. This is not a beginners starter kit. Was this good? No. A VIP member with over 500 posts should certainly know if it was good or not. Makes me suspicious why you would post this question. Is it good ? No. What the heck have you been doing for over 500 posts in a Ecig forum? Would never recomend such a device for someone new until they find out it works for them. Where is the money savings for the user here? Will you refund his money if it does not work out? Or is this about bragging about what by the power of your personality was able to convince someone to buy? Recomending as choices a Blu or a Buzzpro? VIP member with 500 plus posts? These the only devices and systems you know? Lurk more post less. I for one will not say you did good. and one last thing, remember before you get mad bro... you asked.
  2. Right here on this forum website are two great sources for quality juices. http://www.vaportalkstore.com/ http://www.forevervapor.com/ Be it a fruit, tobacco or coffee your craving. Now if you would care to expand what you are after a bit more specific you might get a few more suggestions. Its like a total stranger on the phone asking you to pick out some clothes for them. Unfortunately my Crystal ball is still in the shop getting fixed so you have to provide the details. Post some more info please. Flavors you like, gear you plan to use it in would be a start. Good luck Kaz
  3. I would think a quick check with a multimeter would tell you if the the carto is good or not. If it tests "good" (in the range of the ohms its supposed to be) and not bad (a open circuit) it can only be the connection. Sometimes the center post of the Carto is recessed too far in. I have used a small flat tip screw driver and picked the the center ever so slightly outwards. (My brand of cartos have a slot on the center post). No full turns please or you will break off the wires inside the carto. The other issue could be the connection on the battery end. I have a Varible voltage ego that is fussy about connections and had to solve that by using a 510 to 510 adaptor. Sometimes known as a charging adaptor or extention. Made up for the slop or differences in the manufacturing of the battery/carto connections for me. Yeah vaping can be fiddly sometimes, but to be able to use cartos' is worth the effort. Good luck Kaz
  4. As much as I despise doing a "me too" post, I do agree Snubber. I think that all of the new podcasts and forums started in the past year has scattered folks far and wide. More places to go then vaporers to fill them. I encounter old familar names in all of the ones I visit. The new social media of G+ has made private or exclusive what was once public and accessable to anyone in the forum posts and chat. Its all about invitations, hangouts and approvals now. If not invited or popular your out. If you are not known you maybe ignored. If you don't know about it you will never be told. The curious and new folks will still need places like VaporTalk to get started and will still need good and current information. We can still give them a leg up with or without the old regulars. Once you get tired talking about the new diamond encrusted gold plated conspicuous consumption mod powered by unobtainium come on back and help a newbie choose a Ego.
  5. If you are willing to experiment a little, try using some solvent like acetone or naptha on a clean rag. I am betting the coating will soften up and wipe off. Nothing to lose for trying. Try a small spot first. I had a Ego battery that got some cinnamon/menthol vape juice spilled on and softened the coating. Once I had a bare spot the rest I scraped off. In my case I wanted it black again. I masked off the button area, the battery connector and bottom and hit it with some black paint from a rattle can. Note you want all the oil/grease off the tube if you respray. Do multiple coats and let it dry between them. So no runs, drips or errors! Good Luck Kaz.
  6. I too am interested in the reaction of folks when you present the data collected from this survey. You didnt mention that if you vaped too. What is your opinion on E-Cigs? We can also link you up with the real research already done and not the FDA faux biased attempts if you need to cite them for your project. Good luck, Kaz.
  7. Greetings Fred, The only thing I would add to your list of things to have is at least one bottle of E-Liquid of a 24mg or higher. Preferably in a strong tobacco flavor so if the 16 to 18mg is not cutting it for you and the cravings you have a go to option. Also do not think something is wrong if you find yourself using the PV more frequent than you did picking up your pack of smokes. This is a new thing you are doing and is not "just like smoking". There is and was so many other things in that analog we got used to having along with our nicotine. You may do more vaping to make up for it. Most of us are still fine tuning the right gear and liquids even after many months of doing this. Believe me there is new gear almost everyday on the market. The forum here is very good about helping you out sorting through the choices. So many liquids and I have so few PV's.... General stuff To get started?: Order a kit. Get some extra parts (batteries-cartomizers/atomizers-chargers) Stuff breaks and wears out. All it seems at the wrong moment. VaporForever/VaporTalk has the gear you need to start out. How much Nic in E-liquid?: From zero to about 36mg from most vendors Whats in it?: Either straight PG or VG liquid or some mix of the two (50/50 70/30 60/40) and Flavorings. Some may add some water or alcohol as well. Is there a Pack of Cigs in a Cartridge?: Nope-thats just marketing. (you vape and add liquid as you have need) Sizes of E-liquid containers?: Generally 5ml to 50 ml if bought premixed and retail. Too much Nicotine? : Your a smoker, you know when you get that "feeling" Put it down when that happens. You will not do it again. How much money?: Plan on a budget of what you would spend on a carton or two of Cigs (you can usually do better if you catch a sale) but dont go so cheap as to not get good gear. It is not always about the money sometimes, and you know there is always a cheaper price to be had just right after you bought it. That should be enough to get you to the next set of questions. "What do you use and why do you use it and where can I get it?" Good luck Kaz.
  8. Welcome to the Forum sk_vzw Finding the right system sure can be a bit daunting for folks starting out. Even us who have been at it for sometime are faced with many of the new choices coming on the scene. There always seems to be a new " must have" device or system every week! There are so many vendors to choose from and recomendations all over the web on who and what to use. I know I look at what is new and wonder if I need to change to it. So don't feel alone in being overwhelmed with choices. It's a moving train your trying to catch a ride on. Lots of hands here stuck out ready to grab and pull you aboard. So to add to the number of recomendations you will get I would say simply: Get a system that uses 510 connections. Why? Its the most common connection for any cartridge, attomizer, cartomizer, tank to hold the liquid . It is the most common connection on any of the devices you will buy to place the cartridge, cartomizer, tank, ect. Ok then what? It will be a matter of experiments on your part on how you want to vape. Utimately you want some vapor and some taste that suits you and your lifestyle. Driping means you are pretty much sitting down in one spot. All the others allow you to be on the move. So my two cents is a 510 type system. Start there. Good luck Kaz
  9. Who do you want to call what? These labels do mean something. Are we promoting anti-smoking or anti-vaping? We are non-smokers too. we may be former cigarette/cigar smokers if you must catagorize it. I do not see we have to create a whole new catagory of people to satisfy the anti's need to demonize the practice. Nor do not see we have to stand as a bulwark against those who wish to do it as well. We still have the sweet freedom of choice to engage in a Adult activity which causes no harm to others. (As we understand it now) Our best contribution will be information and experiences. Come on in, the water is fine but be wise that this is still some uncharted waters. Considering the cesspool we had been swimming in you are better off here. May be a time I will vape no more. Shall I forever more be then a non-vaporer or a former vaporer? Will I get up and speak on the evils of Vaping? Not me buddy. It saved my life. I no longer poison those around me. You can bet I can get up and speak evil on the analogs, big tobacco and the Pharma. Just what is it that you are trying to say about yourself? I once was a awful human being but now have seen the errors of my ways? I say we were wise and smart. Refusing to accept "Quit or Die" as the only alternatives. Nothing wrong with what we do, we are adults and we are free to enjoy this recreational use of nicotine. I again say do not get in the habit (yeah I said habit) of having to apologise for your choice. Do you doubt you are doing a good thing for yourself? Doing good for others around you? Considering the alternatives? Maybe we need to steal some of the slogans from the anti-smoking groups? "If you don't smoke don't start, but if you do, quit and go Vape instead." For me, I will be pro-vaping and anti-smoking from now on. Regards, Kaz.
  10. One of the things I am convinced is that we who vape should not apologize. We should celebrate our recreation of choice. Vaping is not smoking. Vaping is just...Vaping. It is its own thing. If we get in the habit of thinking what we do is shameful how could it not be construed as shameful for others to do as well? Ok for me but not for you? Do I have to Vape because I am a damaged being in someway and this is my burden? Shuffling around in rags Wailing out: "Vapor! I am a Vaporer do not come near me, or you will want to get a Ego and some really delicious juice as well?" Stop that thinking right now please. Should we be emulated and impress those around us? Or are we evil/harmful/examples of what not to be? Shun! Shun! Are we not then putting Vaping in the same social catagory as smoking is now? To be avoided at all costs by those who do not vape. We will be our own worse enemy and society at large will follow our example for good or ill. So what about that "non-smoker"? Are they still not a "non-smoker" if they Vape. Is the product illicit and illegal? Will we now speak of others as "non-Vaperers" as if they are pure as the driven snow and their maidens cavort with unicorns? I trow not... Are the product and the devices cool? yeah. Is there a trend to be seen using one? yeah. Do we want only informed adults using it? yeah. We are on the rise of popularity of it and many will join in. Is that not the hope of every vendor and maker of devices and juices dream? Can't have it both ways folks. We are in a time of transition because Analogs and PV's exist side by side now. I hope PV's win and the Analogs go the way of the Dinosaurs. The reality is that people will Vape who never had a analog. I dont think it can be stopped now. My fellow Vaporer's do you really want to see it go away? (Silly Daddy, tell us the story again how people used to burn tubes of paper and leaves and made themselves sick..) Let the next generation make up their own mind like we did about Vaping. We can tell em what we know when they ask. We would do ourselves well to get on the side of considering Vaping as "a good and pleasant thing" if we wish to continue to do it everywhere we want. Regards, Kaz.
  11. Here is my solution to where to put the PV when not in my hand. About Two dollars in parts and some spray paint. If you wanted a juice holder, just put another candle holder on the board. Regards, Kaz
  12. I have to admit with the JC smokejuice, that the "bottom" half of the bottle tastes much better than the "top" half. Its stands to mean to me that these get better with age. Or a good shake up is needed. Yeah, I wish it was more "intense". Its is just my experience and nothing scientific. Could be a canadate to mix with other flavors perhaps? I do know that they do use distilled water in their process to thin down the mix for vapability (sp?)and citric acid for a preservative and probably needs to "gas" off a bit to get rid of that distinct after taste. With that said, Wow! I hope they remain as a example on how it can be done. How can you now say, "we just dont know whats in the eliquid" after that demonstration? Regards, Kaz
  13. I think it as agreeable and sensible legislation as a PV user. No harm no foul. But totally unenforceable. What sort of chilling effect it will have on minors purchasing a device? Some I supose. Real world says if a minor really wants one, he will either take it from someone, or have a irresponsible Person of age get it for them. Thats how one got beer and Cigs in the past. (Only heard of such things occuring, based on rumor and unreliable sources) Can you see it now in the Headlines-> Underground Ring of PV/Juice makers busted for distributing to minors Tens of dollars seized. How do you go about proving age over the internet? I tell you I have been 29 for sometime now.....Really I swear! Will a ID have to be presented? National, state, or other? Or will it all have to go to face to face transactions? Business oportunity for some to get that brick and mortar store, others a going out of business sale. All in all, I think it a good thing to have consequences for selling to minors no matter how caught. It does (I think) refect the majority of vaporers stand on this issue. But the "camel in the tent" maybe if we cant beat it, lets tax it! Regards, Kaz.
  14. Greetings Skh, Don't let anyone ruin your adventure into PV's. Including yourself. You have found a great resource when you found this forum. The members here will tell you the truth by experience. Some of us have managed to completely quit regular cigs this first time we tried a device, some of us have reduced the amount we used to do. Its all a win. It does not have to be all or nothing right out of the gate. What I am trying to say is that you have found a alternative to the "Quit or Die" attitude of the Anti-Smoker crowd. You neither have to quit or die. It is not all rainbows and Unicorns mind you, but now you have in your hands the means to do what you want. The cigs have wrapped some terrible tendrils around us where we lost control of it and it controlled where and how we conducted our daily lives. Killed alot of our loved ones, oportunites, and dreams. So what about these PV's? They are not a "magic wand" but for some they might as well have been one. We get the NIC we want, when we want it and can thumb our nose at the neigh-sayers and have the choice to fire up a regular because we want, not because its the only way. You got your choices back, and a measure of control is yours again. It is your adventure, and like all adventurers you need to travel out with the right gear. Like all adventurers you will find new and better ways to make the travel better by asking questions and shopping the outfitters. Exploring the undiscovered juices in the world, and PV devices galore. What you start your adventure out with, may not be the gear you finish with. You will trade, exchange and leave behind many things along the way. Good luck and good hunting...er vaping Kaz.
  15. Greetings all, If you were like me, you tried to pull off more at one time than the atomizer could produce. It just could not keep up with the draw I was trying to do. You got a bitter taste or pulled the juice right up out of it of course. So don't try harder, try softer and be mindful of you not trying to pull it like a thick milk shake. Regards, Kaz
