Cloud-9 reacted to Christopher in Store Closed April 10th - April 15th
    Hi Folks,
Just a quick notice that the Vapor Talk Store will close April 10th - April 15th. Every year around my birthday when I take time off, I extend the vacation time to everyone in the company. So, we'll be closed for a short period of time while I blissfully forget responsibility for a few days  Because all of us will leave during this time email and phone support will be unavailable.
We'll continue to ship orders through Sunday.

This was not program but server based. So whether you were using an online interface or not, the emails were blocked by microsoft's network. Luckily, it's since resolved (Forum users and store customers both were had not been receiving emails for weeks)

@Tam I usually get about six weeks to a coil just casually vaping daily, so I do get 3 months out of each coil with very little effort. But like you mentioned, they're pretty inexpensive now. I am going to start making my own coils, being retired and all, it'll make for another nice hobby. [emoji847]

Back in the day, especially with the Protank single coils, I used to rinse in hot water, soak overnight in vodka, let dry for several days and revape. Like @Earthling789 said, it's great for getting one flavor out of the wicks. Then, we discovered that we can rebuild the Protank coils so now, when I use the old tanks, I just rinse the old coil and toss into a "rebuild someday" pile. With my Triton tanks, I have an RBA coil for them but with coils so cheap, I've just been holding onto the RBA for the someday should I not be able to replenish my supply of ready-made coils.

@Cloud-9  You and I are doing the same thing my friend.  Watching, trying, and learning.  I learn the most from my mistakes like the coil that I built too close to the outer rim of the RTA.  When it expanded from heat it shorted out.  OooooPs.  But now I know.

I've cleaned drop-in coils using pure-grain alcohol such as Everclear, moonshine, or Vodka over 100 Proof.  The higher and purer the alcohol content the better, though.  Let them soak overnight, repeat as necessary, then air-dry for another overnight period, and they are rejuvenated, but not quite good-as-new.  This is mostly to remove flavor from wicks, but it will do a decent job cleaning the coil of crud.
Seriously though, with the coils I use being so cheap (and rebuildable), I don't even bother cleaning them anymore... I just grab another and toss the old one into the "rebuild later" pile.

@Cloud-9  I use both SS and Kanthal.  Between the two I can usually come up with a decent coil configuration.  SS is very low in resistance and sometimes it is hard to get very many winds in some smaller RBA's.  I've also been playing around with clapton and fused clapton and again, sometimes it takes a pretty large coil to hit what I want in a resistance with SS.  As inexpensive as wire is I would recommend getting SS in 24,26,&28.  Same with Kanthal.  This would provide a pretty wide set of choices in coil winds.  Play around a bit with the coil calculator here:  http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.html.   Try both kanthal and ss in different gauges and different coil diameters, and you can get a feel for how many wraps each wire will take to achieve a given resistance.  Both wires produce great vapor and flavor.  SS is necessary only if you are partial to temp control vaping.

That is such a great thing to hear! Honestly, I really appreciate the loyalty. At the end of the day, we're nothing without you, our customers, no matter who big or small we are as a company.
I look forward to making changes that continue to make the shopping experience better for everyone. One item at the top of the list I'd like to mention is shipping. As luck would have it, Chrisorah (My Web Dev company that manages most of VT's infrastructure) took on a client that deals in bulk shipping rate licenses. We're meeting with them next week in hopes they can provide us rates in the same bulk format that Amazon uses. It may only be a dollar savings per order, but every tiny change that makes it cheaper for our customers, is worth the hassle.  And of course I'll continue to work on other areas such as a faster checkout, one click ordering (almost ready), wider inventory selection and lowering prices further (pricing is another top priority but the most difficult to obtain as it really comes down to bulk purchasing, but we'll get there!)

I have been dripping for many years and its all about what you like when you drip putting cotton under coils can make for a tighter draw when you suck your mod and it can also allow more juice to to cloud when you hit the button  but for me I like to let the cotton hit in the bottom of the juice wells .

In some cases yes. For example, the ePipe kits come in these ridiculous oversized boxes. So, if we have to ship say three of them at 5 bucks, then when we go to ship each one has to be shipped separately. (Or we can try to fit them into a large flat rate, but even then the shipping exceeds both the cost and sale of the item. Then at the end of the month, the board goes through the numbers and says WHY Chris WHYYY. (To which I respond because my beautiful bald face is on the picture up there damn it)  no but really, it gets a bit costly after 10-15 auctions. I have no idea how Amazon manages to do it.
My biggest goal over the next month or so will be to figure out shipping. USPS raised their costs this year quite a bit. So keep free shipping at a reasonable level for all of you while keeping the prices low has become difficult. (Especially on items marked up say 5-10%) But I'll get it all figured out some how, I promise. I know everyone hates shipping costs. (We do too)

Glad to hear you found a good option.  I get what you're talking about.  I happened to nail the Griffin right away.  The Sense RTA2 was a whole other story.  First build flooded like a river.  I have no idea how many times I re wicked that thing.  From then on out it was occasional dry-ish hitting and very limited power settings.  This is where being and Old Fart comes in handy.  I've got the time to tinker around with this stuff.  Every one of these RBA's have a different personality for sure when it comes to wicking.  Some of them are down right curmudgeons.

Cloud-9 reacted to Walt in Vapor Talk Poll: What oHm/Resistance do you usually run?
It's counter intuitive to me, but I don't argue with what works.  As I move along my journey and lower the resistance and raise the power, the vapes are more fulfilling both in therms of fog and flavor as I go.

You may need to drop the nicotine down a little.  Nicotine can be a little harsh with higher power devices.  If you are used to 12 you may find 6 is enough.

I love the Eleaf iPower 80W TC. It comes with a 5000 mAh internal battery so I only have to charge it once a week or so. We have them at our own Vapor Talk store:

Thanks for the feedback! I know a lot of new users get hung up on what to choose. One of the things I'd like to get going on the store is a "learning area" which might help with that. especially to those that are brand new

I was introduced to the VT Store via the Bekuali kit sold on Groupon Canada. These were great intros to vaping and bought lots for family and friends to try. The hardest thing when it was time to try something new on any site was what coil and batteries go with what mod and tank. For a noob, the starter kits are a great way to start. I found the forum on the VT site and learned a lot in the past six months. Now I have no problem ordering almost anything. The biggest thing that kept me coming back to the VT Store is the customer service, second to none imo. I once ordered coils from Heavens Gifts in China that did not work and it was a really bad experience to get that settled. Now I comparison shop between 180smoke.ca which has local outlets in Canada and Vaporworld.biz. So far I've only bought stuff at the VT Store because the prices are competitive and I know the customer service is excellent! The only thing I may shop for is bulk vg, pg, nic & flavors should I decide making my own juice. But for now, I only go through one 30ml bottle a week vaping leisurely. My next mod purchase is a toss up between the eleaf ipower, Smoketech Alien or G Priv.

Warning...turn down the volume if you don't like loud, aggressive guitar intros a la Five Finger Death Punch.  If you do, then crank it up!
