Been Vaping for two months... new member...

Welcome to Vapor Talk! -
The Mean/RMS doesn't bother me, but I vape at 10.5 eleaf watts, which is close to 12 - 15 regular watts...lol I personally think people get too hung up on the numbers. If someone is using tanks with premade coils, if it is too hot, turn it down....and vice versa ;-) I love the form factor. I am really hoping one of the versions of the MVP 3.0 is about the same size as the iStick with a better 510. At the same time, I would like a MVP about the same size as the original with 20 - 30 watts, better button placement, and a recessed, spring loaded 510 in the $50 - $75 range. I may be wrong, but I put the iStick in the same class as the ego twists. It is an inexpensive, adjustable battery with a very small size, and if it dies, you are not out a lot of money, but can last a long time and be dependable if you take good care of it. I think if you were wanting something that will last for a while, in the same category you would have to spend $120 and get a Vapor Shark DNA30.

I have 2 iSticks and I am extremely happy with them. The MVP lasts longer, and is much more solidly built. It also looks better with full size toppers, such as the Nautilus (In my opinion). The iStick is much more comfortable to me. I like the size, the button placement and the additional power availability. There are a few things you should be aware of though. 510 connection is weak. The threads are known to wear out quickly. The center pin can get pushed down and require an oring modification. I don't have these problems because i run a Nautilus Minis on them and its good threads, and spring loaded center pin has not put much stress on them. You can't use the settings you have been used to due to the way the board measures output voltage. If you set your MPV to 11 watts, you will only have to run the iStick up to about 7 - 8 watts. If you like a cool vape, you will have to get some high ohm coils as it does not seem to buck voltage good, or possibly at all, so 3.7 volts is about as low as it can reliably go. So with a 1.6 ohm coil, 8.6 Watts is as low as it will go (it may read lower, but reports say it isn't changing anything) On the high side, it will only go to 5.5 volts so only a 1.5 ohm coil or less will allow you to run it that high. It may sound like I am running it down, but I love it. I am currently only using iSticks for my daily use. Just be aware that is is a $30 battery compared to a $45 - $50 battery. It feels much cheaper that the MVP. Another thing I can tell you is my MVP had been abused. I have dropped it and totally destroyed 2 Nautilus tanks and it still goes strong. I don't think the iStick is nearly as durable. I also can not attest to it's longevity because I have only had them about a month.

I get that. I have some 90VG/10PG that I drip. It really doesn't drip, it strings into my dripper...

This has always been a concern of mine since I started this hobby. My MVP is still going great, and it is the one of the oldest batteries that I have. Of course it is only 5 - 6 months old. It is now disassembled awaiting a 510 transplant. My habit is to vape all day, charge all night with the MVP and now the iSticks. Is this ok? They only drain to about half before I charge them. I know other chemistry batteries it was better to discharge them quite a bit before recharging them. I know the type batteries we use now don't have a memory, but what is the best practice? I tend to do the same if not worse with my mechanical batteries. I was using them for a few hours in the evening, the putting on the charger (Nitecore i4). I have started rotating them and using them more. I will use one until it gets a bit weak, then switch. When I get 4 that are not charged, I charge them all. I have 2 VTC4's that i have held back to use in a possible dual 18650 electronic mod, and I keep them in a drawer, isolated and have not charged, or used them. Is this bad? Do I need to check them every so often?

I am finding that it is really temperature dependent. I was using 60PG/40VG this summer, and it was a little thin in the heat. I am using 50/50 this fall and it can be a little thick. When I am in the office, or at home it all seems to work pretty good. When I am in and out of the car all day I seem to have a little bit of trouble. I only use the Nautilus and Mini Nautilus so I can only speak about them.

Nantucket, bucket... you do have an amazing amount of self control sir! I commend you!

Congratulations! It is a good feeling. I am still getting my smell/taste back a little more every day. Most of the time it is great, sometimes it isn't. My tastes in food have even changed! Overall it has been wonderful!

My dad is a Studebaker guy. I really like them too. He still has the one he took to college, a 1958 Silverhawk. He is going to restore it some day... ;-) It is in pretty sad shape. I would like to do it for him one day, we just have different ideas. He wants stock... I want a stroked smallblock chevy with fuel injection, a/c and overdrive. He is happy with the flathead 6 and 3 on the tree....and floor start...lol The biggest problem is I don't have the time, money, or patience!

I have the same luck with Aspire coils. Some last forever and others don't. I think that is one reason I am not in a big rush to go buy one of these. I would really think about it if you could get a 1.5 - 1.8 ohm coil, just because I like the looks of the tank. I use tanks 90 percent of the time. I only drip, at home in the recliner.

If it wasn't for spell check, and 23 edits per post, y'all would think I was illiterate. My mistakes are not typos, they are because I can't spell. Ms Wilbanks would be upset....

That is one reason I bought it.... Marketing works great on the weak minded, like myself....lol

I am not trying to defend aspire, and say if it is a good idea or not. They are marketing it with a battery, which I would suggest to any newbie: http://www.aspirecig.com/products/MOD/mod185.html It is a regulated tube device. As we hash out all the time, subohming is dangerous if not done properly. As for holding them responsible for accidents due to misuse...good luck. I know in America we can sue anyone for anything, but it would be very improbable for them to every be held liable for the misuse of their product. Of course this is just my opinion. It is hard enough to get an American based company to stand behind a product that you purchased, even harder to hold them liable for the improper use of their product. With Aspire being a Chinese company, this would be even more difficult. As for the quality of the coils, you are so correct. I have measured them between +/- .3 ohms in the same box. I have never got a shorted one though.

You know, I do like to add some holiday type stuff, or change with my mood. I usually do it in my dripper. It is so much easier to rewick! -
Here is a screen shot of the main page. It has been bugging me, that you can't read the "Like us on Facebook" link... By the way. I really like this Skin. It seem like it is the easiest for me to read. Of course it is just my opinion, and will gladly use whatever skin you settle on.

I am with you on this. I can't do single flavors. When I started out I was switching 3 flavors. Drunk Mama (a Bahama Mama with something else), Hawaiian Energy (Hawaiian punch/red bull), and Frozen Fruit (Fruit and Menthol). I got tired of changing tanks, got a Nautilus and just dumped in 1/3 of each. It stuck. Now I have bought some of Comp's (Fadora Vapor) Fruit Mash. I mix it half and half with my mix. I don't have a clue what it tastes like, but I like it. I have tried many great single flavors, I just can't vape them all day. I need the complex flavors. -
I see this all the time. There are a few good shops out there that steer newbies away from this. In my experience this is the exception. I have watched quiet a few shops sell mechanical mods, with a cheap battery, rda, and a hand full of wick and wire to a first timer. In fact it happened to me 2 times in the last month. I stop at as many as many different shops as I can find in my sales area (all of the Northern half of Texas, except DFW) I am always on the hunt for a new flavor...
-
Perhaps I am looking at it wrong. I am much more worried about a noob buying an RDA and some 24 gauge with a mechanical mod. (without proper guidance) I assume that these coils are built to some kind of standard and will not be shorted on arrival. I would lots rather see someone with this setup, rather than asking "how many wraps?" The battery is presumably safer than a mechanical mod. As for public perception, sub ohm or not to sub ohm, cloud chasing and all that, I will leave that to others to hash out.
-
Is it weird that I want this with a higher ohm coil? Possibly a 1.5 - 1.8.
-
I have been going back and forth on the 100 watt sigelei and the ipv3. I like the dual 18650's. 100 watt is so much of an overkill it is crazy. This has led me to start looking into the 50 watt mods. I like the sigeli, and the ipv's. I have even considered a cloupor, or a hanna clone. Then there is the Vapor Shark.... I don't know. I really can't justify it, but I really, really want one.
-
I do like the iStick, but I am seriously worried about the longevity. I have 2 now, both work fine with no problems. They just are not built like my MPV. The thing is a tank. I think I am going to put a recessed, spring loaded 510 on it. I wish it put out a few more watts, but overall it is great. I do prefer the the size and button placement on the iStick. I like the option of having more power. I only run it at 10.5 watts, so I am not gaining much. (10.5 watts is really closer to 13 but eleaf measures it different) 11 watts on the MPV is like running 8 or 9 on the iStick. (this is a guess, there is a chart somewhere, I am just too lazy to go find it) All in all for a possibly disposable APV for under $40 delivered, I am happy!

I had just got used to the 4.? version!

I am excited to see what you think, and how it works for you. I have been in the store for the last few weeks, mine gets much more abuse when I am not on the road. So far so good!

All I can say is WOW! -
No jonnoh, I didn't take it that way! I totally got what you meant! I sometimes have to watch myself, I can sometimes go overboard. I guess what I really meant by the post is that I do give the techinally challenged a hard time sometimes, but I excel in technology, I fail miserably in other areas, and get schooled by the older more experienced! We tend to joke like this at work, and sometimes I bring it home with me!
