New vape pen giving good 'hits' for only about 15 minutes?
jasonculp replied to Soup's topic in New Vapers Forum
Comp is correct, more vapor/more flavor = more satisfying hit. It sounds like you are hitting the 10 second limit on your battery too. What juice are you running? What is the PG/VG ratio and Nicotine? If you run a higher nicotine and PG juice the throat hit will be greater, and therefore might not require such a long draw. The tank's airflow also has a lot to do with how long you have to draw on it. I don't know what you're budget is but a bigger battery, such as: http://www.vaportalk.com/shop/the-vision-vapros-1300mah/, or http://www.vaportalk.com/shop/vision-spinner-2-battery-1600mah/ and a high quality tank like: http://www.vaportalk.com/shop/nautilus-mini-airflow-adjustable-tank-system/ (Nautilus Mini) will give you a much more satisfying vape. -

How Long Were You A Smoker Before Vaping

WillBlack, I have been reading your posts for quite a while and you have a lot of good data on batteries, I really appreciate all the information. What 18650's do you recommend? I have a couple of VTC4's that I think are needing to replace, and I don't know what to replace them with. I will be using them for sub-ohm in mechanical mainly.

The Protank 2, Mini protank, Delta, or the Davide will work great with the iStick. Most iSticks come with a great EGO to 510 adapter. If the one you bought doesn't, let me know! If you bought it from the Vapor Talk Store, it is the express kit and comes with the iStick, the usb cable, and the EGO adapter.

I am glad you asked this, because I have been curious. I assumed since the board was owned and supported by the Vapor Talk Store that all the vendors were reliable and of the highest quality. I have only bought from the Vapor Talk store, Sweet-Vapes, and Fadora. I have had excellent service from Vapor Talk and Sweet-Vapes. Fadora on the other hand, has gone above and beyond. Comp has probably lost money dealing with me, if you calculate the amount of time he has put in helping me. I understand that as anything else, you are taking a risk dealing with any new vendor. I have been lucky so far and have not had many problems with any of the online retailers that I have dealt with. I usually check them out pretty good, here and on other boards on the web. I try to stay away from Ebay, and only use Fastech when I need something slowly. @Earthling789, thanks for reinforcing my assumptions about the vendors!

This will not solve your entire problem, but the Vapor Talk store has the iStick: http://www.vaportalk.com/shop/20w-eleaf-istick-express-kit/

It is actually disabled on the IPV3, or at least all of them I have seen. I think the 50 watt version still has it. I saw one disassembled on the internet the other day and it didn't even have anything but a hole where it is supposed to be. I have not got the guts to take off the panel on mine. I probably should though, apparently they have some that have some out there with nicked wire and bad soldering.

I like it a lot, but it is just impractical for me right now. I am running VTC4's in it, but I only use it a few hours a night, so I don't know what kind of battery life I am getting out of it. So far so good!

I like the looks of that! I have never seen one in real life. It might be just fine! I wish someone made the mod that I saw on facebook. It looked much like the Zero mod, but it had a brass (highly polished) on the front, and the rest of the body was a dark wood. It had a DNA30 and a single 18650. I think it was made by a guy in the Phillipines. I have heard the wait list is like six months and has a price around $300. Much more than I want to spend....but man I liked the way it looked. I should probably cool my heels. I have way more than I need to stay off of analogs. I am really not looking for a better vape, I am happy. I think I just want a somthing a little bigger, but not ipv3 big.

I really don't think at the wattage I vape I would have to change them during the day. It is just so big. The iStick is perfect, but a little small in relation to the tanks that hold enough juice to last all day. I am thinking about the Delta 19. @ckf posted a picture of one on an iStick and it looks great. I think it holds 3.5ml and that would be great. I think I am evolving into a tank only user. I have been using the billow at night, and I like it. It just intensifies the taste so much, I am not liking it as much as my Nautilus. I know it is weird, a vapor that wants less flavor.... It is kinda like when I started dripping. The flavors I like in the tanks don't taste good in the RDA so I had to go find dripping flavors. Now I have a RTA that will run my dripping juice or my ADV that I use in my tanks. I don't care for either of them in the Billow. I may have to find a 30 - 50 watt box that is a bit bigger than the iStick so I can run some bigger tanks. I think the contenders are the Vaporshark, IPV Mini, Zero, or build a Hanna style box with a DNA30 or YiHi chip. You would think I would just be happy with what I have....

I am glad you like it! I am really liking my IPV3, but I think I have buyers remorse right now. It is a good rig, it just doesn't fit my current vaping style. I just use it in the evenings at home. I need to to a magnet upgrade and a skin before I can start carrying it. I really like the versatility of an electronic box. It lets you select just what you want. I do like the dependability of a mechanical mod though.

According to what i am reading, they don't recommend charging either with inboard charging due to the lack of an internal "intelligent" charger to charge the dual batteries. I went and bought the IPV3. I did the 165 watt upgrade. I am having a hard time liking it. They both have the YiHi SX330 (if I understand correct). They are both HUGE. I would defiantly hold both if given the option. I don't like the feel in my hand. I am going to get a carbon fiber wrap and see if that helps. I wish the ipv had magnets. It is a pain opening unscrewing the door. I really have not had to do it much because I have not used it enough to recharge. Mine has a delay that is noticeable between the time I hit the fire button and when the coil heats up. Once it goes it goes fast. I have been running the Billow at 20 watts and it is a great vape. I am also having a hard time with the Memory settings (i think they both have it) It is a pain to me. I need to look at the instructions and see what I am doing wrong. Every time I go to adjust it, it just scrolls through the presets. When I adjust it manually I change my presets. All in all it is a good box so far. I am just spoiled to my little iSticks. I love the small size. Since I really only use tanks it works fine.

Jumping into Mech Mods and RDAs (at a slow and eager to learn pace)
jasonculp replied to RonJahn's topic in Mechanical Mods
I have not modified my Tobh. Many people remove the little tab sticking up to do center builds to get better airflow. I just build offset and turn the cap so that the airholes are all open and right in front of the coil. Here are a couple of pictures of when I first started building on it. This is a horizontal build. I actually build them a little closer to the outside to put them as close to the airflow as possible, and I am also using twisted wire now. This is the vertical build I used to do. It was my favorite build, until I went with the twisted wire. I am going to do a twisted vertical build pretty quick. I normally keep my builds right around .4 or so. This is by no means the "right" way to build the Tobh, it has just the way that has worked the best for me! -
I just opened the airholes up and it is getting even better. I moved it off the ipv3 and onto the iStick. I am running it at 15 iStick watts. I may have to reduce my nicotine!

I got a Billow last week. It is my first RTA. It is still too early to review it. I have only ran about a half a tank through it. My first setup was a Twisted 28 ga, dual coil, sub ohm build. It was great, but I really don't like the juice I was running in it. I normally run it in a dripper and I like it sparingly, as a treat, not as a constant vape. Today I recieved a package from Comp at Fadora Vapor. It has some Tiger Wire and some premade Tiger Wire coils in it that he built for me. The coils came packaged in tiny plastic tubes with a silicone cap to keep them safe. Nifty! We had been talking about running (2) 3ohm coils for a finished 1.5 ohm setup. Comp does not have this RTA but the coils fit perfectly. When I checked the ohms 1.47.... Nailed it! The flavor is so much stronger than the Nautilus. At the same wattage it is a much cooler feeling vape, but has much more flavor. I just ramped it up to 15 watts WOW! I have not pushed it any harder. It is kinda poping and crackling a bit, but I have only wicked this thing twice, and have no idea what I am doing. I am now playing with the airflow to see if I can get it right!

Here is the joytech delta 19 http://sweet-vapes.com/clearomizers-cartomizers-tanks/joyetech/joyetech-tanks/joyetech-delta-19.html I am seriously looking at them. I just have not done it yet! Coils are very expensive, but supposed to be of a superior quality. I would have to see it to believe it. It will plug in to any usb charger like for a cellphone. Danngit Comp.... you're too quick!

What type of wrap is that on your IPV3? I don't like the way mine feels in my hand. Mine is black, and I don't really care for the look. I have been thinking of gray carbon fiber on the sides only... I would really like hand tooled leather, but don't have the time or energy, not to mention I don't know how that would look or work.
