  1. Awesome info man! Yea I thought about the deer being moved by people entering the woods. I hunt in a more remote "Station Camp" area where there are a lot of horse trails and the deer use these trails too. There are not as many deer there as are on the ridges around "Bandy Creek" but also not as many hunters and the deer seem to be bigger. The smarter older deer know there is less pressure there and that coupled with the number of people that horseback ride there make the deer a little more used to people. I think I am going to skip the climber and use that money for other stuff I need this year at least. Would suck to invest the money and get on a good lease next year with blinds and shooting houses over salt licks and food plots and not use the climber much. I really appreciate the help. Its so much different here. Back in West TN where I am from you hunted from sunrise till about 9:30 or 10 then came back in about 3 and hunted till dark BUT I was hunting edges of woods around farm fields and-or pasture and I would get them coming out to feed or heading in to their beds for the day. I literally have never hunted public land so I know it will be different in more ways than just the terrain. The advice you have given me makes my mind ease about all the stuff I need and timing. I would have thought missing the morning would be an end to the day but what you said makes sense. Not only that when I am roaming ridges I can scout for different blind spots too!
  2. I was concerned about the light coming from the electronic devices but it may be the lesser of two evils. I know if I do not let my son have something to do when it is slow he will be fidgety and loud. I can probably get an hour-hour and a half out of him before he is asking when we can go home so bringing the IPad or Kindle might be a good idea. Yea man it is foreign hunting here. Thing is in West Tennessee everything is flat so unless you just have a deer run over you there is a good chance you will only be able to see 25-30 yards sitting on the ground. I bought these super lightweight comfy as hell chairs for the blind that are Real Tree so I bet they would work just nestling up to a tree on a ridge. Thing is with all the ridges and such I have been wondering if climbing up the side of a ridge and setting up like you said would be better than having to hear the wife complain about me spending another 300 on a climber after spending over $1500 on blind, guns, clothes and such. I am looking hardcore for a lease and I will build blinds and put up static stands when I find the right one but this year I will be hunting the Tennessee portion of Big South Fork and have a few really nice spots scouted out. I am so looking forward to opening morning for gun season (22nd in TN) but am not sure if I will hunt opening day or the day after. I am "obligated" to attend a function in a luxury box for the UT-Missouri football game and the gametime will not be announced till Monday. If its a night game I will hunt opening morning. If it is a noon or 3:30 game I will hunt Sunday the 23rd for the first time. If I go the morning before a night game I will probably leave the boy at home since I have to get up about 3:30 to get to my spot and set up before daylight and the masses arrive pushing deer around when they go into the woods. A night game lasts till 11pm and I am pretty sure he would be dead to the world before then if I get him up to leave the house by 4am. Its an hour and a half drive from my driveway to where I enter the woods. I have a feeling Big South Fork is very much like the area you hunt, any other tips or advice Earthling?
  3. I am intrigued about the combo of Apple and Vanilla. I know Vanilla to be a deer attractant. My grandfather and uncles never go into the woods without dabbing a little vanilla extract on their clothes and boots.
  4. LOL yea I hope thats the case. My biggest bodied deer, only a 9 point but dressed 205lbs, was shot just after I had lit a cigarette. I know during the rut they are running and chasing but I got to thinking about all the scents we use to attract and cover our human odor and got to thinking about a liquid that would not only not spook them but instead make them curious enough to check it out. This will be my first year ever hunting public land and hunting a blind so I have some learning to do. My son will go with me most of the time so that takes out the climbing stand usage unless it is on one of the few days I am alone. I bought an Ameristep Doghouse blind for us to use and marked an amazing spot but then again it IS public land and I may get into the woods and have 10 other hunters in sight. I hope not it is a pretty concealed spot but close to an access road but who knows. I plan to be in my blind set up an hour before the sun comes up to stake my claim to the spot. Going to Gander Mtn tonight and am getting the rest of the stuff I need. After 12 years not hunting a single time I am having to stock up from the ground up and tonight will finish that off. I just cannot decide if I am going to buy the Summit Titan Climber or not, I may just blind hunt this year or post up on ridges. Coming from the Mississippi River bottoms I am amazed how many people successfully hunt deer here in the mountains without a blind or a stand and just walk the ridges looking down into the valleys for a shot. Back home it is so flat that is unheard of and if you are not in a blind or in a stand you most likely will not see anything bigger than a squirrel lol.
  5. Ok deer season is almost here and I have been wondering about something. I hunt a ground blind not a treestand because of where I am and the fact my 9 year old goes with me a lot and have been wondering about the smell of my vapor. Deer have long been known to be attracted to Vanilla so I am considering getting a Vanilla flavor but for now while I am scouting I am using my wifes 24mg Peppermint which smells a lot less than the only flavor I vape. Everyone comments on how they love the smell of my vapor, well except my wife haha, but I am thinking it is too strong to be vaping while hunting. It has a very strong distinct sweet smell. Comp, what kind of Vanilla you have? I do not particularly like the taste of vanilla in a vape but when hunting its not about the taste as much as the smell and getting the nicotine I want so I am not jonesing for a vape. Anyone else vape and deer hunt at the same time and if so what do you do if anything to control the smell?
  6. I understand why you do that also because you use different flavors but I rarely vape any tank completely empty and even when that happens I have never had any issue with wicks drying or anything like that. Sometimes when I have to re-fill one at work a couple days out of the week I can go 10 days between refills but usually it is once a week. I still have 3 unopened Mini Davides I stocked up on before they changed them but opened up the 4th one and added in a tank of my wifes 24mg Peppermint for Deer Season. The only flavor I use has a very strong aroma and hers hardly has any smell at all so that works better when hunting lol.
  7. God I do not know what I would do without several tanks lol. I have gotten to where I dread filling them all when we empty everything. I have 11 in rotation and my wife has 10 so usually I only fill tanks once a week. I would go nuts having to fill every day or two. Patricia I am so sorry to hear about your Dads passing. We joined about the same time and you will be in my thoughts.
  8. VaporTalk Store (Hardware) Sweet-Vapes (with the dash(-) not without) (Hardware) ECBlends (liquid only) Fuzion Vapor (liquid only) It has been a very long time since I ordered anything from anyone but these 4 suppliers. I have yet to not be able to find what I need and always get authentic products for 50-70% of the prices the local shops charge for mostly knockoffs. Shipping is either free of less than the gas to drive to a B&M plus I do not have to waste any of my time shopping which I hate. I think many if not most on here would feel comfortable ordering anything from these 4 suppliers. I know what I like and at this point everything is a "re-order" lol.
  9. Maybe not to that degree but it takes an expert to spot the better knockoffs (clone is a term I reserve for well build mech. mods not cheap knockoffs of Spinners and Tanks etc...) To each their own but it is my opinion you will get a fake a LOT quicker at a B&M than a well researched reputable online vendor. I would advise beginners to do research as to what they need and order them from one of the main 4 or 5 online suppliers at a fraction of the cost of B&M PLUS they will be getting real Vision, Kanger, Aspire etc.... A beginner buying cheap knockoffs as authentic can push them back to smoking since they usually do not work as well.
  10. I have yet to get a knockoff anything ordering from reputable online vendors yet virtually every shop in my area sells knockoffs as authentic. Don't fall into the trap of thinking if it came from a B&M it must be authentic imo. It will not be long before I celebrate 2 years tobacco free and have yet to make a purchase at a B&M and plan to keep it that way.
  11. I have probably given away more stuff than I own right now in totality and the only thing I ever ask anyone I pay it forward to is that they do the same. So awesome to see you guys doing that!
  12. 24mg then step down from there......or don't. It's all up to you. I know people that have vaped 24mg for years. I was 24mg for about 6 months then went to 18mg and that's where I plan to stay. I still use some 24mg but 18mg is the ADV.
  13. I hunt tight woods here in the mountains of East Tennessee so I keep it simple. Mossberg 500 12 guage 24" rifled barrel with a 2x7 Nikon Prostaff scope shooting 385 grain Remington Accutip slugs. Shoots a 6" pattern at 150 yards will never see farther than that where I hunt. Last year I got a 9 point that dressed 205 and a 6 point that dressed 180 and both were within 30yards. My son didn't want to hunt then but now he does and I am stoked! For Halloween he went as a bow hunter and his mom went as a deer complete with arrow through her body, antlers, blood and all lol.
  14. I am not aware of a single tank built anywhere but China. Actually the Provari is the only vaping item outside of liquid I know is made domestically personally.
  15. Me too! Ben Harper Lyrics: my choice is what I choose to do and if I'm causing no harm it shouldn't bother you your choice is who you choose to be and if your causin' no harm then you're alright with me
  16. Any deer hunters, or hunters in general, around here? Going Tuesday to scout a new piece of public land we are going to hunt this year after we lost our lease. Hoping to find a spot to set up my ground blind. I only hunt gun season not really into archery. My son has hunters safety the week before opening day and we are pumped!
  17. Another in a LONGGGG list of Ebay buyers being ripped off. My advice is NEVER buy anything e-cig or tech related off e-bay. If a deal sounds too good to be true then most likely it is. Hope you get a refund or have recourse.
  18. Still doing it for me just FYI.
  19. Well said. I have always told people who feel the need (not want) to reduce their nicotine down to 0 they should not look at it that way. Nicotine is not the enemy, tobacco is!
  20. Therein lies the dilemma. The auto industry is a little different but same concept. The thing the import manufacturers have done are open up non union assembly facilities sporadically throughout the US that pay median salaries when compared to other industries but seem to locate themselves where wages are lower, education levels are lower so they can maintain profitability. Hell a VW assembly facility just opened a few years ago in Chattanooga and they actively recruited fast food workers because they could pay lower wages and still maintain employee loyalty because there are not a lot of other options in the workplace for their employees. They do this so that can taut they are "Built in the USA" when in reality they ship all the parts in from the corporations home country to be assembled here and sold then the profits from that sale also go overseas. Did you know for every 1% market share the imports gain on the domestic auto companies roughly 18000 jobs are lost here? Maybe I am getting old (44) and grumpy and I definitely have a dog in the hunt financially but things like this drive me as crazy as seeing a Toyota Camry driving down the street with a "Proud WWII Veteran" sticker on the back. Talk about irony. But then again, these are just my feelings and everyone looks at things differently. Talking about a Vamo (and not likely a real Vamo but rather a knockoff) for $26 or whatever is hardly 500% markup to buy it here for $40-$45 from a reputable supplier in the US. is not that big a deal to me to just pay a little extra, have it in 2-3 days or less and have full recourse should something happen to it. Its all a vicious cycle. Price oriented shoppers buy overseas made products to save a few bucks, American companies cannot compete because we do not let 10 year olds work 12 hour days in factories, jobs are lost and American companies have to charge more because it costs more to employ people in the environment we have here. My business grosses around $250k-$275k per month just from the sales department and after salaries, healthcare, taxes and all the other expenses we have turned a net profit in only 3 of the first 9 months this year EVEN THOUGH our sales have increased 10-12% per year since 2009. The government is regulating us out of business and laying in wait are the countries that make products with no environmental regulations, no labor laws and can ship their products to the US with little to no tariff while charging exorbitant tariffs on our exports which now are primarily agricultural products.
  21. Sigh. It wont even be a game man. I am good friends with a couple of our coaches and not only are we terrible on offense our team has had the flu this whole week. Jalen Hurd has lost 10lbs this week from the virus and Worley is not likely to dress much less play. The only good thing is we are on the upswing and Bama is heading the other direction. This conversation will be a LOT more fun on my end in a couple years especially if Saban keeps Lane on staff. Either way I will be sipping bourbon in our box watching the pain happen. I am done boating to games for this year. In the score prediction contest I have 41-10 Bama. The only hope we have is if the fans truly transfer their anger toward Kiffin (which I think is silly I was glad to see the arrogant prick leave) and break noise records every time the Bama offense takes the field. We do have a great defense if the offense can stay on the field long enough for them to not be depleted in the 2nd half like the Ole Miss game last week.
  22. I could not agree more. I am 44 now and have had a top plate (denture) since I was 27 due to growing up with hard water and not being taught proper dental hygiene at an early age. In the last 3 years I have had the top plate replaced with an implant and on my bottom teeth I have had all them capped with 8 requiring Root Canals. Had dental appointments every Monday at 10am for a 7 month stretch to get all these done. One tooth would not numb and I gave "sedation dentistry" a shot and let me say NEVER again will I have a root-canal or any major dental work done any other way. No Novocaine, no numb feeling....just a killer buzz and a fun afternoon. With my insurance sedation cost only about $100 more than traditional and I have spent more than that to feel as good as I did with sedation recreationally back in the day haha.
  23. When we remodeled our showroom two years ago we tried to only use products made in the USA and it was impossible just like it is impossible outside a very few exceptions to buy E-cig stuff made in the USA. What we did was the best we could do....we bought the stuff from a US supplier at least. Don't get me wrong I am not chastising those that order directly from China its just something my conscience and overall paradigm will not allow me to do. Funny story. Back when the last Olympics were going on people (Fox News especially keyed in on this one) went ape over the fact the uniforms were made in China. A lot of my friends at the lake were going off about it in the cove all weekend when the story broke and became the headline du jour. When I pointed out the people complaining the most in my group drive Lexus, Acura and Toyota I was quick to point out the hypocrisy. We live in a society that wants to pick and choose when they feel Patriotism applies with the way they spend money and even though many products are "assembled" in the USA the parts and more importantly the profits are made and benefit the country of origin for all these companies. I am also a Scoutmaster for one of the local Cub Scout packs and our Boy Scouts of America uniforms are made in Thailand or China. It drives me nuts. Hardly ANY company can make a product like a car, electronics and other tech heavy items without parts or some assembly overseas because we have all but eliminated our ability to make them in an affordable manner domestically BUT if just a few people realize by supporting companies that export their profits from the USA to other countries a huge difference can be made. Is American pride dead or just in critical condition? Is it a symptom of a global economy or are we so quick to try and save a buck if just doesn't come into play? I mean this as a serious question and am not trying to hijack the thread any further but I just cannot say nothing when this is one of my biggest "things" lol. Sorry for the soap box lol.
  24. The stuff I sent you and Crystalyn defies this rule lol. You got yours 3 days before she got hers and yours had to go from Tennessee to California and hers to Kentucky right next door. LOLmail. With that said, there is not enough savings on earth to get me to order from a Chinese company direct. I bet over time the pain and aggravation is not worth it with how cheap stuff is here. I get it on some of the Mech Mods a lot of people like but for standard stuff just support US companies. As a GM dealer of 21 years this has always been a hot button issue for me. In the global economy with shipping between countries almost as easy as shipping between states we lose the ideals of supporting American companies. The biggest thing lost in todays society imo is the fact that value and price are not synonymous and cheaper doesnt necessarily mean better.
  25. All new 2015 Buick and GMC vehicles with only a couple exceptions now come standard with a 4G LTE hotspot that will run up to 7 devices from up to 100 ft away and is roughly 10 times the strength of a typical IPhone hotspot. Moral of the story.....Christopher needs a 2015 Yukon!
