Sometime the vets on the forums tend to use terms and slag for some of the most common items, methods and hardware for vaping. This is not the ultimate guide but should make some of the terms a little clearer. (I hope)...

    Basic Jargon

Vapor - Vapor is the substance exhaled when using an electronic cigarette which may look similar to cigarette smoke.

Vaping - The act of using an Electronic Cigarette (as opposed to "smoking", as the device creates a vapor rather than smoke).

Vape - Used often in place of the word smoke. I vape, I'm vaping.

    Batt - Battery.

Atty - Electronic component that turns the eJuice into vapor.

Cartridge or Cart - The part of a three piece electronic cigarette which contains the liquid. These come blank (with no liquid), or prefilled.

Cartomizer or Carto - The part of a two piece electronic cigarette which contains the liquid. These come blank (with no liquid), or prefilled.

    Analog - Traditional tobacco cigarette.

    DIY - Do It Yourself.

Dripping - To place a few drops of liquid directly onto the atomizer instead of using a cartridge.

Drip Tip or DT - A special attachment used to make it easier to drip eliquid directly onto the atomizer.

Mod - Modified (custom built) e-cigarette.

TH - Throat Hit a strong feeling in the back of the throat when vaping.

Primer Puff - A short, quick mouth inhale on the electronic cigarette similar to the action when smoking a pipe or cigar. This heats up the atomizer before a full draw.

PV or Personal Vaporiser - An electronic cigarette. Some prefer to use this term as the word 'cigarette' has a lot of negative connotations associated with it that do not apply to PVs.

PCC - Personal Charging Case / Portable Charger Case.

Passthrough or PT - A USB adapter for the Electronic Cigarette which screws onto the atomizer like a battery, but draws power from a USB port.

    E-Liquid / E-Juice

E-Liquid / E-Juice - A Flavored or unflavored liquid for use in an electronic cigarette, usually (but not always) containing nicotine.

    VG - Vegetable Glycerin

    PG - Propylene Glycol

    PEG - Propylethylene Glycol

    PGA - Pure Grain Alcohol

NPG - Not containing Propylene Glycol. Sometimes used as a synonym to Vegetable Glycerin.

    Nic - Nicotine

    Cartridge Related

Filler - The clump of fibers that hold the liquid in the cartridge.

Stuffing - Another term for filler.

BFM - Blue Foam Mod. (cart filler material)

Dripping - To place a few drops of liquid directly onto the atomizer instead of using a cartridge.

Dry Smoking - Same thing as dripping, referring to the fact that the cartridge us usually not filled, therefore dry.

Tailpiping - Vaping directly from the atomizer without using a mouthpiece/cartridge.

Drip Tip or DT A special attachment used to make it easier to drip eliquid directly onto the atomizer.

Topping Up/Off - To add a few drops of liquid to a partially used cartridge to prolong its use.

    Measurements

    LR - Low Resistance

HV - High Voltage (typically a 5 or 6 volt ecigarette)

IMR - A battery with lower internal resistance and a high discharge rate, good for high drain applications like ecigarettes.

    in - inch (also abbreviated ") (1 inch = 25.4 mm)

    mm - millimeter (1 mm = 0.039 inch)

    cm - centimeter (1 cm = 0.394 inch)

    oz - ounce (1 fluid oz = 29.5 ml)

    ml - milliliter (1 ml = 0.034 fluid ounce)

    cc - cubic centimeter (1 cc = 1 ml)

mg - milligram (often used as measure of nicotine per ml of eliquid)

mA - milliamp (often used as a measure of available power)

mAh - milliamp hour (often used as a measure of battery capacity/duration

    Forum Phrases

    PM - Private Message

Troll - Somebody who makes a statement with the intention of annoying or angering other posters. This person usually ends up banned.

Vivi novas are so tight, I think I'm sucking a ten dollar milk shake!! But their tips are removable, and you can get different colors to identify flavors

That could explain why you're having trouble. A reputable dealer wouldn't just switch to a different one without asking you first.

I don't get out much, living in the country as I do, with animals to be responsible for. But every time I do, I have encountered at least one vaper or a curious smoker.
My family gets out a lot, and they're always reporting back to me how they ran across a vaper and what they were vaping. It's fun hearing their educated excitement.

I live in south east kansas about a mile north of oklahoma.we have a handful of people vaping but they only do "beauty mods" like sparkly batteries. I'm always seeking knowledgeable people that can help me increase vapor production or anything else that can make vaping more fun. I have been vaping for a month and quit smoking analogs cold turkey and wonder even why I smoked those stinky things.

I live in a small town of <8000. The closest brick and mortar is 3 hours away. Since I've started vaping I've turned on ~5 other (now ex) smokers to vaping.
I try to get a bunch of us together to make orders to bulk them up and save on shipping.

If you're looking to push buttons and be way over the top, you should try ECF (unless they already kicked you off) We are a little more laid back and drama free here, so cool your jets...
Who flipping cares, as long as the juice, service, and prices meet your needs. And with several folks agreeing with Patricia, that have been here a while longer than you, I will just have to disregard your posts in the future as flippant...

VapeDudes is my go to place for liquid except Tobacco and could care less about whose flavors they are similar to. Most Ice Cream places carry the same flavors. I find this discussion and especially the correspondence a little unsettling. I have spoken with Jennifer several times and have the utmost confidence in them and their product.

While I can and will accept any ones opinion, I honestly dont care who started what, or when or even how. I DIY and quite frankly try to mimic what I taste, there are only so many flavors out there, does that make me a thief? I think not, for me its flattery at its finest. I support many juice vendors and will continue to do so. I am a single mother, who owns and operates two businesses, I bust my tail to survive and dont have the time to worry about what others are doing, either personally or business wise.

Not sure about all this, but I was referred by people on this site to get me started.

They were great to me about answering questions, shipping was decent and the juice was fantastic!

I'm a bit late in posting. Just reading all this info and learning myself. I find, that for me, 70pg/30vg is the perfect mixture. Throat hit great and plenty of vapor for me.

I second everything Patricia said, their deals and discounts make it fun to order and I have done so, many times.. My favorites are their grape, mocha java drizzle, blue honey, cookies and cream.... come to think of it.. I havent received anything i havent loved. Most of mine were vapable upon arrival, a few required some steeping time. You do not have to search for flavor and their vapor rocks!! All of mine have been 70pg/30vg!!!!

What happened to the spinner and twists?
They weren't that old! Are they just not doing it for ya
Std ego type batts run 3.5 - 3.7 twists run 4.2... So buying a std won't help
Maybe you should look into a different resistance in your vivi, are you burning out heads?
I rarely go over 4.0 on twists and even the Tesla tastes best at 3.9
Big volts don't always mean big vapor.....

Like you, Patricia, the Twist I had burned out on me with a quickness. I got the stupid thing in late January / early February, and never saw much difference between the voltages. So, I left it at 4.8 and used it primarily for a standard resistance drip atty. Subsequently, it burned out in less than a month. (Could it also be that this cheap Chinese crap is....well.....crap to begin with??) Just because you like keeping things simple (much like myself), does not mean that your options are entirely limited. First, you could go with a standard eGo and low-resistance head / carto / whatever. Super compact, lots of colors to choose from, and fairly inexpensive, yet durable. (Hey, I still use my eGo setup....that thing is solid!!!) Next, you could get a mod of some sort. This option does require some research, but it opens up the possibilities. For example: since you like simplicity, get a mod with variable wattage (vamo, z-max, etc.), and figure out what setting works best for you, and that mod will deliver that wattage no matter what device you put on it (within the mod's amp limitation, of course). Or, you could get a simple electrical mod (silver bullet, or bolt) and a Kick. Set your watts, and vape away. If you don't like the color or finish options, you could go to J-Wraps (forgot the link....derp), and put a skin on your mod. Finally, there's the option of getting a mechanical mod and rebuildable atomizer.....but, this option requires a ton of research and patience beforehand, and is definitely not for everyone. But, I include the option for sake of being thorough. (Who knows.....maybe it actually will pique your interest rather than frighten and intimidate, like it does to most Vapers) Good luck in your search!!!

With my Spinner 1300mah I cannot even turn it all the way up using 1.8 and 2.2 ohm resistance without getting a severe burned taste. I get all mine at Sweet-Vapes.com for $24.95. They had all colors in stock the last time I checked. Brian at the Veteran Vaper told me he is trying to get them and when he does I will order from him even if he is a couple dollars more. He said since Chinese New Year things got a little scarce but is normalizing now. I vape my fruit flavors at 3.8v with 1.8-2.0ohm and my tobacco flavor at 4.0v and 2.2ohm. Just the sweet spot that works for me. I have two EGO 1000mah as backup that always run at 3.7v so having 4 batteries is not a bad idea BUT I have not even turned on one of the 1000mah since my Spinners in.

Okay it sounded like your batts were dead and gone already...
Tessie is pretty, and not a lot of fancy gadgets, but the same benefits of most APV,s
Best thing is battery life, tells me what the batt charged to, and it's current charge in volts. I bought three batts for it, and a good charger, I always worried about the ego types, you never know what ya got unless you just took it of the charger.
She tells me the ohms on any appliance I top her with, but she prefers Pro tanks, as less refills occur. I can never remember what ohm head I replaced with as they come with two diff ohm replacement heads.
With the ohm measurement, I check my handie chart, gives me the minimum , maximum, and preferable, watts, and volts, I dial that in easy peasy vapeing crazy.
Tess is built like a chrome hammer, and lots of venting, just in case she gets pissed. Easy to grip and once again solid, some APVs are a lot more gadgeted, but fragile, one drop and gone, just sayin

But I am not the expert here for sure, but if you use a different resistance coil on your VV sticks, you could get more of what your looking for, maybe a different tank, maybe different juice, it all has bearing on your throat hit. Wish you could find a close ECig store, or a vape meet, so you could check out what's available in person, much better than buying blind on the internut. Seems Veteran Vapes has the current great review for hardware sales. I'm a brick and mortar guy, gotta keep my locals open!

Big volts has little to do with how much vapor you get. That's more along the lines of how much VG is in your e-liquid. You want more vapor? Go with a higher VG level. More throat hit? Higher PG and/or nicotine. I'm not sure but it could also be that you're using too high a voltage, which could be hindering your set up from giving you the best your battery and clearomizer can produce.

Also, too much VG in a juice could clog your clearomizer's wicks as more VG also means thicker juices that don't wick as well (usually).

I get plenty of vapor (as in sometimes I feel like I'm sitting in a cloud of it) with 50 VG/50 PG, and enough throat hit with 12 mg of nicotine although you may want to go with 24 mg for a stronger throat hit. Give it a try at around 4 volts and see if that works for you.

MCVapes on YouTube recently put up a two-part tutorial on getting big vapor. Even though he's gearing the video more for rebuildables, the principles are still the same. 1) Lower resistance = hotter coil 2) More air moving over hotter coil = more vapor In short, if you can figure out how to get a more airy draw off your current device (maybe use a slightly modified 510 to 510 adapter), and its resistance is in the 1.5 to 2 ohm range, you can get decent clouds off a standard eGo. If on a Twist / Spinner, you can also run more voltage until you find a balance that puts out the vapor you want without burning up the coil. May not fill the room like a mechanical mod running a .5 ohm dual coil RBA setup with a 1/8" air hole.....but, you'll get some good vapor for sure!!!

    Hi all,
It is time for me to order some new batteries and I was hoping you could give me some suggestions on what type of battery would be the best for someone who vapes like me. The last time I bought the eGo twister and the Vision Spinner and both were great batteries. However, I never used the voltage adjustment option. I just kept it cut as high as it would go. So since these kind of batteries, the adjustable kind, cost a lot more just for the adjustment option I should not go that route. So, with that in mind what would be a good battery for me? I would want one that goes as high/hot as the adjustable ones did. I don't know if it makes a difference but I am using the Viva Nova tank ( I've got to order more wicks for that also). I'm a girl so of course I like pretty ones. Also, cost is important. Where is an economical place to purchase batteries? No shipping charge would be a plus. Also, this being Fathers Day weekend, does anyone know of any place that has any good Fathers Day specials? Thanks a bunch for any suggestions and HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all the great fathers out there!

    Hey Bebop,

Thanks for the advice. I live in a small town in Georgia so my options of vapor stores are very limited. We have a couple of Tobacco shops and 1 Vapor store that I am aware of. That is why I am looking at a lot of online stores. I did buy my first Blu from a convenient store and like your wife it was good but not enough to keep me from going back to cigarettes. Then I went to a local tobacco store and bought an Elite eGo kit. Just an eGo battery, an Clearomizer and the charger you plug into a computer. I also bought a 10ml bottle of basic 18mg menthol juice. That was all it took for me, a woman who smoked 1 1/2 to 2 packs of Marlboro reds a day for 40 years, to quit cold turkey. I still can't believe it. There is just so many things to try and it can get very expensive but that is why I am getting the advice of the pros. Is the eGo battery 900 mah and a Clearomizer what you have stuck with?
