  1. Does anyone know how to get rid of the AM station noise coming thru on your computer speakers? Everyday I have to put up with NewsTalk 1520 KOKC coming thru loud enough to the point where I have the whole daily lineup memorized. The only thing I can do is disconnect from my computer and connect the speakers to my iPod and listen to music through it instead! When the green plug is disconnected from everything, it comes through very faintly, but as soon as it is connected to my computer, it is so loud that I have to turn up the volume to drown out the radio noise. It's as if the computer acts like an amplifier! The AM radio station will only go away completely if you turn them off with the power button, but that does me no good now does it? If anyone has this same problem, I love to hear how you resolved it, short of throwing your speakers out and buying new ones. They are Logitech X-240, 2.1s. I'm afraid that if I buy new speakers, the same thing will happen!
  2. Good one, Jeff. Thanks for sharing!
  3. And I want one of those bulbs....I think that if I can't find one, I'll make one. I'll go to walgreens and pick up one of those snot suckers that you use on a baby's nose and cut the tip to fit an atty!
  4. The one atty that I modded to make it bridgeless finally gave out on me. I've had this thing for several months now. I think I bought this one back in November of last year. It didn't work on my old OEM 510 batteries, but started working again with my VP2 when I first got it. I made it bridgeless, then when it finally stopped working on my VP2, I used it on my 510 passthrough. It worked for like week more, than finally gave out for good! I say that because I don't have anything at a higher voltage than my passthrough. I told you that to tell you this......I noticed that there is significant room under the white cup of the heating element. I guess that since the white cup is surrounded by that wire mesh, juice just saturates the white mesh even after keeping it in vinegar overnight. I went ahead and demo'ed the whole thing by pulling everything out with tweezers and saw through the hole at the very bottom- in the center of the threads- the center post. So, I suppose if you use that neat bulb to force air out, juice will keep running out of the whole thing as air goes through the post hole, through the hole in the bottom of the CENTER of the white cup, around the heating element, past the wick bridge, and out the business end. I suppose if you really want to get and residual taste out of the atomizer assembly, you'll have to fill up the bulb with water or vineger (or both) and slowly squeeze it through the entire assembly. I don't think you could ever get it completely clean because there's still juice in the steel mesh surrounding the white heating cup. You know what we need? a better atomizer design! I wonder what the inside of one of those fog machines look like. I mean there's pressure there to shoot out the vapor. I wonder how that PG that's in some kind of reservoir is shot past the heating element, vaporized then blown out of the machine. Maybe we can take the design of something much larger and apply it to our micronized version.
  5. Just got my 510 passthrough in the mail today. I agree, it delivers very consistent hits. The juices seem to "stand up" a little more. Some taste sweeter, some get more of a throat hit. Another thing I've noticed is that you get a stronger burnt taste when your atty dries up. I might have to order another one and keep it at work! I've been using my iPod wall charger to run it. With a multimeter, I'm getting 4.53 volts at the battery. When I hook it up directly to a usb on my computer, I get 4.68 volts. Is there a better wall-to-usb adapter that will raise the voltage up slightly, maybe to right at about 5 volts??
  6. Won't that make you drunk? I mean if you vape constantly.
  7. My thoughts exactly, That site says it's going to be down until the 3rd of March, so I'll order one and try it out. I've also noticed that if you put 3 drops in, take the first couple of drags while holding my VP2 at a 45 degree angle, then the next couple of drags with the device completely horizontal, it produces much more vapor that way.
  8. I haven't really met anyone or let alone seen anyone in OKC using a PV. I get out a lot on the weekends, and I have yet to see someone say something like: "hey, which model is that?" Someone usually approaches me and inquires about it. At that point, I usually give them a business card from a web store that I've bought from. I do what I can to get the word out around here. Most of the referrals I've made have to other been guys in the military. They want one so they can vape while working, so they don't have to stop what they are doing and go to the smoke pit, or younger guys who can't smoke in their dormrooms. I think it would be really something to find others in Oklahoma and somehow get together and spend a day hanging out. If everyone could bring have they have to one place, everyone could sample all kinds of juices, home brews, devices, and exchange knowledge, and have a good time! I'm really just starting to get into this whole thing, and I'm slowly building my supplies. It's fast becoming a hobby. This month I'd like to start gathering supplies for making my own juices. I found a local battery store that carries RCR123a batteries and chargers, as well as 18650 batteries, but not 14500s (the one I need!) Going to start looking for PG later this week. Plus, there's has just got to be some mom and pop bakery/store around here that makes candies and cakes. Hey, it's a start, and once I discover where to find things locally, I'll let you know. I must admit, I've been this using modded atty all last night while studying, and all day today at work. It seems like the longer you use it, the better it starts to perform. I was ready to throw this one away, because the vapor production was poor and I've been using it un-modded for about two months, but now it seems to vape a whole lot more than it did when it was new. I suppose it has something to do with letting the juice "marinate" in the mesh surrounding the heating element. I'm still noticing that it produces much more vapor when it's about 3-4 drags away from running dry.
  9. I just tried this after watching Phee's video. It almost seems like 3 drops is too much. I don't get any juice leaking out, but it 2-3 drops definitely floods the heating element. With the atomizer on a standard 510 battery (standard and mega) and 2-3 drops, the juice just boils slowly and doesn't vaporize like it should. Switch the bridgeless atty to my VP2 and it will vaporize the juice in it. I find that just one drop fills the little cup that the heating element sits in just right and produces lots of vapor. Only downside to it is that you only get about 3-4 hits, then it dries up. So, with no bridge (and a fully charged 14500 batt) 2-3 drops works, gets the most vapor when it just about runs out of juice, then goes dry. That wick bridge was there for a purpose, like Mcquinn said, it's there to regulate the juice. There's good and bad with this mod. There's definitely more vapor all around, but you have to drip more often. Considering buying those Super T mouthpieces so I can drip directly more often. Lastly, I wouldn't recommend modifying an atty if you're using standard 510 batteries.
  10. OK, just ordered one from Jason, I'll see how it goes. Thanks for the advice!
  11. Speaking of a cheap Passthrough, are those 510 PTs operating at a true 5 volts? Was also thinking of getting one to hold me over for a while.
  12. I Just tried this, and OMG! it really works well! It took some tinkering with the measurements, 16mm straw length, made an X cut and cut out a small triangle (if you can picture it from an X)on just one side. I have a syringe, so it's easier to fill. Now I need to figure out how to cut holes in the straw....
  13. I agree, VaporCast is a pretty darn good podcast to listen to. One of the most memorable ones was when they had "Cisco" or "Sisko", I don't know how he spells it. He gave some really good advice on the techincal side of Mods, plus I also like listening to them review E-Juices every week. It gets me psyched to order what they just reviewed to taste it for myself. Only thing is those three guys are all diehard 5 volt vapers. I'm not quite there yet, but hopefully in a month or so I can get my hands on a nice 5volt unit.
  14. That's some great info, thanks for your help. Where did you get your boxes? You mentioned something about sealed atty connectors. Where did you find those? Your box mod looks like the perfect type for a starter mod. Thanks again for the help.
  15. I'm so used to having our TV news delivered that way that I never even realized that there was a "format" to it. This is going to be a great as a add-in topic for discussion in my Business Communication class I'm taking. Thanks for sharing!
  16. That sounds like a plan! Thank you everyone for your responses! I'll look into creating one or two in the next few weeks. Not sure if I want to try a higher voltage one yet. I intend to send one to my father in law so he doesn't have to take four 510 batteries to work with him everyday. Another thing is that I need to increase my supply and variety of juices. I hear so much about the flavor characteristics of juices changing at 5 volts or more. My next purchase will be a 5v VP-PT. This VP2 I just got in the mail to me is awesome. All-day vaping on one battery. The next step for me is a device that outputs a constant 5 volts rather than a battery that constantly changes. Yes, I know that the Prodigy V2 regulates down to 5 volts, but even though it tries to keep it at around 5 volts, the batteries inevitably drain, and the current increases ( it has to, don't see any way around it). Having a constant power supply in my opinion is the way to go.
  17. I'd like to try my hand at a DIY PV mod. I want to start off simple at first, so can anyone recommend a site where I can basically buy almost all the parts from one site and make a box-style PV? Probably one or two batteries-would like to go for longer battery life at 3.7 volts. Let's base it off the 510 atomizer. If it works out fine, I'll send it to my father-in-law, because I got him into vaping, and he has several 510 batteries which he takes with him every day to work. He's a heavy vaper, so I want to make it easier for him. If I actually enjoy doing this, I'd like to venture into making my own mods. I have a few ideas... and it has to do with using extra scrounge parts from working around planes. I think it would be fun to have a PV made of military aircraft parts-not super expensive parts-just parts that are considered no "longer suitable for use", and are throw-away parts, but still look pretty cool. Who knows, if it works out, I'll give it away to someone here. Any suggestions on kits?
  18. Neg- Please think carefully about your decision to get into personal vaporizers. It might seem like it's safe at the moment, but you might not realize that an e-cig could become your "gateway device" to actual smoking. Sure, at zero nicotine, fruity flavors, chocolates, mint & menthols, and soft drinks might seem to be fun, but let's say you really like the mint and menthol tastes. You hear everyone here talking about "great throat hits" and realize that there's a better sensation to menthol with a throat hit. More nicotine = more throat hit. That's all it takes. I've never been able to top the throat hit of a real Cigar. These are the kinds of things I gravitate to; I'm sure there are others out there who look for the same thing: a simulated sensation. I started off with around 24mg nicotine strength. I've tapered down to 18 now. In another month, probably around 11 or so (can't wait to see if my vp2 in the mail will help me with that). What I'm trying to say is....please don't go in the other direction. I wouldn't wish the addiction to nicotine on anyone.
