  1. Heh, you know, come to think about it, I use those microfiber cloths to clean e-cig parts all the time. They go in the washer and come out clean with no stains! I guess I wasn't thinking. Thanks mcquinn!
  2. I've always been careful about where I lay my mods, except this time I've done it! Some Irish Cream e-liquid leaked out of my overfilled 306 DCA and made a 3 inch spot on a comforter on my bed:( Any ideas on how to get the spot out? It's a cotton comforter. It's a king size so it won't fit in my washer and dryer. I'd have to take it to the Laundromat but would rather not if anyone has a way to spot treat it. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
  3. Those dual coil cartomizers have been working well when used in an e-liquid tank. I've been using them in both the LIquinator and the J-Tank. They duallies work very well for those applications. By themselves, eh, They tend to run hot, and I've experienced a burning taste with it that way.
  4. If any of you here are from Oklahoma, There's a new vapor shop that just opened up a few months ago. It's called Doc's Vapor and is located in the southwest area of Oklahoma City. I didn't know about myself, until somebody announced it on my Facebook Page-OKC Vapers. The Meet up will be on September 10th from about noon untill... Rather than typing it up all over again, I've posted my blog entry below: "Today I spent 4 hours with Mike, Ruthie, and “Doc” over at Doc’s Vapor shop. I had a great time just hangin’ out and getting to know them. They’re good people, highly motivated, enthusiastic, and ready to maximize exposure to the public. I told them I’m in it to help them in any way I can. I really want to see this place become successful, especially as Oklahoma City’s first real vape-friendly establishment. We talked about many things: What products to possibly carry in the future, what flavors of e-liquid would be great additions to their line, some marketing ideas, and of course, the upcoming vape meet! I have some answers to questions you’ve all been asking: They have enough floor space to accommodate about 4 folding tables: There’s 16 seats right there. I will be bringing my own folding table and chair set to the meet. We are going to need a few more. Please let me know if you can bring some on your way here. Mike wants to know what kind of things you would be interested in buying while you are there. Please let me know if you need atomizers, drip tips, eGo tanks, more batteries, and whatever so he can make sure he has enough for everyone if you plan to buy while you are there. Some of you are coming from afar, and it nice if you could pick up what you needed while you were here. I am going to copy this post and put it up on my FB site, OKC Vapers. If you’d like to keep up to date on the logistics of the planning, would you like to see it here, or on the Facebook OKC Vapers page? It’s up to you guys, but I think it would be more convenient to see the planning on the OKC Vapers page simply for the way the info is presented on the screen. Updates come quick, and everybody can see it. I’ll leave it up to you. We’re all really excited about this meet up. I know that Mike and Doc said they would be up till about midnight tonight planning and tweaking on e-juice flavors. Hit me up on the OKC Vapers page on Facebook for what flavors you’d like to see them carry so they can create something especially for you!" That's about it. If you live nearby, or can make the drive, You're all welcome to attend! The store is pretty barebones, and they are going in the opposite direction from what I've seen many other vendors do--they open up an online business first then go to click-and-mortar, but hey, it's a promising start and we're doing what we can to promote it. Hope to see some of you there! Hopefully it will become successful. You can check out OKC Vapers on Facebook for more information. Here's the address: Docs Vapor 2505 SW 59th St Oklahoma City, OK 73119 (405) 600-9013
  5. When you cut your slots in the cartomizer, make one cut instead of two on opposite sides. Make the slot a little wider than you would if you made two slots. I do this because what i've noticed is that when the tank is completely full, the liquid takes a lot of suction to get it started. You don't have to apply power, just keep drawing on it and fire the atty a little at a time, untill you notice it working. For me, this keeps it from dry firing and burning the filler unnecessarily. i also notice that when the liquid level is at the bottom third, the liquid has a tendancy to saturate the carto to the point where you get the gurgling sound and a little hot liquid on the tongue. When that happens, all i do is hold the device parallel to the ground, vape lightly and fire the atty in pulses while i take a long, steady light draw. it is important to tilt the device in such a way that the ONE slot is facing up where no liquid goes in while drawing on it. i do that until the liquid in the carto is no longer saturated. vape normally, and everything balances out.
  6. I've been Using my Liquinator for about three days now. The pre-cut cartos work well, and I've tried my hand at cutting my own with a Dremal. No problems here. I am about a 3ml a day Vaper. I've gotten into the habit of filling it just before bed so when I get up in the morning It's ready for a whole day. I love the fact that I no longer have to drip and drive. I think that, above all else is the important thing, add to that the convenience of not having to carry a bottle around with you and dripping is one less thing you have to think about! If they could only think of a way to prevent the tank from moving up or down. I'm very mindful of it moving. The second downside is the whole "no cinnamon" rule. I love the cinnamon type liquids.
  7. I just received my liquinator in the mail, an it's been performing wonderfully this afternoon. One of my favorite liquids in Adam's Sin Apple, a cinnamon flavor. I haven't put any of it in there because of what you guys said. For those of you who have been using it for a while now, How is the polycarbonate (not acrylic) tank version holding up? Is it still frosting over with a cinnamon liquid? I don't want to try it unless I have a spare tank, will order another tube in a few days, but let me know your experiences with it so far.
  8. Well, now that I have bookmarked the site, I'll make it one of my usual spots to visit when I come home form work!
  9. So, Provaris are nice eh? I guess my worries about too much tech in a device were wrong and these things are really holding up. I might have to save up for one now. I still keep up on the new stuff from time to time. Today, i just ordered one of those Liquinators; I am trying to find a fix-all for my drip and drive problem. I destroyed a wheel by hitting the darn sidewalk and that's all because I couldn't wait for a stoplight to re-drip. I said "that's enough" and started looking into tanks. Suggestions are always welcome.
  10. Hi BirdDog! Nice to see you too! So some of you ARE still here! That's great! Feeling a bit reminiscent again. Where did I put that old 510 battery?
  11. Hi NANA, nice to hear from you again. I see you've gotten some good mileage out of your keyboard with those four thousand plus posts! I remember now. I deployed for 6 months and got real busy when I returned. Bought a house, did some upgrades, started getting into other stuff, etc. That's why I never got back to these forums. With all that's changed, Vaping is still consistent!
  12. It's appears to be more like an intermittent "open" on the switch side. If it's still charging, then that side is fine. I wouldn't risk twisting the USB end anymore; if you connect it and the wire really detaches from the solder, you could damage your USB circuits on your computer. If you wanna play, use a powered USB hub instead. Back to the switch side, When you pull it apart, it should be obvious which wires are loose, you can solder them back together and hopefully it will work again. Be very careful your solder doesn't come in contact with the casing. You know what? Just toss the thing, and find a replacement.
  13. There are some videos on YouTube on how to take an eGo battery apart. Be careful not to be too forceful, it's all press fitted. You don't want to bend or stretch anything too far because the assembly will become loose, at that point, only some thread sealer will help keep it together.
  14. If anything is moving that's a bad sign. If you're a tinkerer like me, you'll probably want to take it apart, but not before you have some new ones first, and definitely not while it's plugged in. It the ends spin, There's a possibility the wires are loose from their solder connections. You don't want to spin it too far and cross the wires inside! If you feel you've gotten enough use out of them, toss 'em out and get some new ones. This is one of the reasons to move up to a solid Mod with replaceable batteries- something you can take apart and make adjustments/cleaning. Those units are nice though, I have the same passthrough and it's been working fine so far. Good luck; please be careful.
  15. Hey Chris, The only topic I've been following since I've been away were your announcements. I've been seeing them in e-mail, and now I see the what you've done to the place. Thanks for keeping the forum alive and well. Even with the new look, I still sense some of the old FEEL, and I want to commend you on that. I'll be retiring from the Air Force in one year and moving back to San Diego. Hopefully, someday we'll cross paths and talk about your outstanding achievements all beginning with this Forum.
  16. Mark, Jeffb and Brian: Wow, yeah thanks for the welcome and good to hear from you guys again. In this chaotic world we live in, its good to see some consistency, and the three of you have certainly been here through and through it all! Wow again! I miss all the smart remarks and the going back and forth between you guys. Now I see you help run this place! That's awesome! I'm coming back, I'll just have to figure out out to follow all over again. Have you guys also "settled in" or are you still keeping the hobby/lifestyle exploratory?
  17. Hello Everyone, Its been quite a while since I've been on these Forums, maybe almost a whole year. I can't remember why I stopped posting, but I still remember all of you- well, the old timers anyhow. I still vape, all day, everyday. I still have my old Mods, some broken, some still working. I guess you could say I stopped posting because my exploration phase of using e-cigs ended, and I've just sort of settled in on what I like. I still keep up on the industry firsts when I can. I still watch YouTube videos when I catch wind of something new. I still convert friends and acquaintances to vaping--I'm still one of you! I just haven't been active on the Forums anymore. I suppose it was when I realized that I had been vaping for two years now, I started to feel nostalgic. I found my old 510 starter kit and used it for a while. I was a very quick trip down memory lane, but I brought out my old Mods and charged up the batts and used them for a bout a day each, then went back to my Icon. Then I thought of all of you. I remember all the fun I had posting when we were all discovering the vaping culture and forming what it has become today. This is my greeting to all who remember the pioneer days; without the Drip Shields, Drip Tips, Tanks, big battery mods, and low resistance atomizers. I've been out of the loop for so long, I no longer feel comfortable commenting on the new inventions. I'll still give advice, but it only comes from experience. I hope to come back here and be a part of your circle again. Cheers to all, Tektronik
  18. Set your multimeter to the ohms setting, place the red lead on the center post or in the hole, and the black lead on the threads
  19. Clever, very clever. I cut the end off one and tried it for myself. Now I am re-visiting my 5.2 ohm 801 attys again. The only reason i put them away was because i didn't really care for "tailpiping" and the drip tips would catch liquid and get stuck. This little idea of yours made me go back and vape at 7.2 volts once more! Thanks!
  20. Wow....... Just watched some reviews on it. Fully disassemble-able mechanical switch. That is right up my alley! I got to use a Silver Bullet for a little bit. I bought one for my father-in-law and got to try it out after I presented it to him for father's day. I bought him that one because of it's ease of use and proven reliability. But this one, OMG! I'm gonna make plans to get one, provided that it doesn't sell out before I can get my hands on one!
  21. Buzzkill, I've been looking at your device lately, watching reviews, reading up on what others are saying about it. Looks like you have a pretty good device there. Yes, I've dealt with many circuit cards on test benches, and pots are something I've had to replace from time to time. But that's not my main bother. If your components within the device are quality, then I believe you've got a good thing going. What I'd like to know is if let's say down road, something goes bad, will I have to send the unit back to you for repair or can I get to it myself? the PV I'm using now is what I've landed on because I can break it down to individual parts, about thirteen, replace just about any piece on it myself without having to send the whole thing back to the company. As with all mechanical switches, they have to be cleaned periodically, but they are reliable, and I have control over the function of it. I've had some issues with other units with electronic parts in them and have had to send them back for repair, because the way they were made you can't get into it and remedy the problem. I'm just one of those folks who likes to fix stuff myself. Although It would be nice to be able to dial in a voltage to tune in a cartomizer, I'll keep the Buzz on my list of devices I'd like to play with. i might buy one in the near future. Thanks for your response, i like the direction your leading the PV market towards, maybe it's just me resting on the conservative side.
  22. Nana, I bought a Silver Bullet for my father in law for father's day when my wife's parents came for a visit. I've heard so many good things about it that I just had to get my hands on one, even if only for a minute. I'd have to agree with you, It's a fine unit. Little to no maintenance other than cleaning, and the pushbutton switch is great! My father in law loved it! He's been using a standard 510 kit, a plastic box mod that i made him, and a Spade. When i presented the Silver Bullet to him, he was totally floored by the beauty of it, the ease of use, and it's sturdyness. He absolutely loves it. He left all of his old devices here (except for the box mod-always keep a backup). I wouldn't mind having one of these for myself, but I'm more than satisfied with my Xhaler, for my own reasons. I've become somewhat of a "purist" when it comes to my opinions on vaping devices. The less electronics, the better, and safe chemistry batteries is how I feel. Any additional circuits to me are just one more thing that can malfunction in the long run. In my own experience with potentiometers, you set them with a small screwdriver to calibrate an output and leave it alone. The more you mess with it, the more likely it will fail. Having said that, I still think variable voltage is a great concept; I agree that sometimes 5 volts or more is a bit much and 3.7 just doesn't have that "push" that something that outputs at about 4.2 to 4.7 will satisfy. I just wish that it could be done without the use of a pot, but that's just not possible now is it? So far, I've just had to deal with two Tenergy batteries--it's too strong at first, but after a while the pose drops and maintains at a very nice sweetspot till they die.
  23. I ordered from Celtic's Ejuice shop. I got a bottle of Hpnotiq, Orange Juice, and the classic tobacco. That Hpnotiq is very good! its been my daily vape, and it's almost gone! WIll order more and save the next bottle. The Orange Juice is not bad. It tastes, like- well orange, but I'm not getting the pulp taste, more like the orange peel taste somewhere in there. The classic tobacco is good as far as light tobaccos go. i used about half of it, then gave the rest away to my wife's dad before he flew back to california. I'm discovering that tobacco is not for me anymore, but who knows, someday that could change. All in all, Celtic's is a good site, good juices. Thanks for the recommendation!
  24. Nice... Gettin' it on payday.
  25. The same thing happens to me also! It seems like it happens just about every time I drip now. Yes, I have to lightly blow into the atty, and if there is ALOT of juice previously there, then it leaks out of the bottom and gets everywhere. Here's a theory of what happens: If the physical size of the drop is the same size or larger than the hole, then it runs down the entire inner walls of the drip tip, and since the hole opens up abruptly into the larger atomizer chamber, the drop gets "stuck" and forms a blockage. Any more liquid will just stack on top of that one until the whole drip tip fills up! Here's a theory of why I think it happens: It has everything to do with AIRFLOW. Try this. Disconnect your atomizer from your device and leave the drip tip connected. Put it to your mouth and mouth and inhale through it. This opens up the airholes at the threaded side of the atty. Now, hold the atomizer and place 3 drops in through the drip tip. It goes down right? Now connect and vape till the drops burn off. Now place three drops in through the drip tip with the atomizer still connected to the device. Did the drops get stuck? The same thing will happen if you take a thin straw( not a McDonalds straw, but one of those cheap bendy straws), hold it upright, and place your finger over the bottom end and cover up the hole. Now take a big drop of water and try to drip it into the straw. If the drop is bigger that the diameter of the straw, then it shouldn't make it's way down, but rather get stuck at the top. The air that the drop tries to displace cannot exit out of the bottom of the straw and has no where to go. If your atomizer is gunked up with e-juice after using it all day, then chances are that the airholes in the bottom are also clogged- the air that the drops try to displace has no where to go. Solution: The drip tips need bigger holes! I've heard the Super T Manufacturing has bored out their holes on all their newer drip tips, but I'm not sure about all the dozens of other suppliers out there who sell drip tips. Let me know if I'm way off base with this!
