  1. I've had people call them a fake cigarette before. They really didn't mean anything by it, other than thats what they came up with when they were trying to think of what to call it, and it's not a "real" cigarette. The people that have said it to me did not mean to imply that it's a toy, simply that it's not a cigarette. These things are made to produce vapor. As long as we are sticking something in our mouth, inhaling, and blowing out smoke, thats what people are going to associate it with. I told someone once, "I know I look stupid to some people, but man, I sure feel smart!
  2. While I agree with personal responsibility, there are a lot of things we can blame on both parties, but Republicans have been united in fighting this tooth and nail. If this actually becomes law, the Democrats are the ones at fault, and I hope that people will remember that when it's not what they think and election time comes around...
  3. I'm pretty sure they now have a new switch that fixes the problem. I don't believe the problem was really known or became much of a problem until recently, and to their credit they came out with a fix I believe pretty quickly. I've heard a lot of good things about the Protege and have been thinking of getting one after I saw they replaced the switch.
  4. Now thats what you call a lot of threads all rolled into one! As far as computers go, I'm once again feeling bad that I haven't been giving Linux the play time I feel it deserves. I haven't put it on this laptop because I've had a few times Windows seemed to get jealous and decide to screw me over. As was said, Windows doesn't seem to play nice with new partitions sometimes. I think maybe I'll break out one of my other laptops and get back acquainted with Linux. I couldn't stand Ubuntu when I tried it though, so probably back to my personal favorite, PCLinuxOS. As far as voting against the incumbent in every election, I actually Like my Senators. Tom Coburn seems to make waves all the time, and is widely regarded as a Maverick, which I like. He has sponsored a bill to try and make the Senate show where in the constitution they get the authority to pass a law with every new one they create, which we all know will never pass though. I'm hoping he will also end up an ally for E-Cigs, since he is also a MD. I guess I shouldn't go into all the things I like about him, as this post would be too long, but with things like demanding the entire health care plan be read on the floor as they are legally required to do but don't, putting forth a bill to force Congress onto the health care plan should they pass it, fighting for my gun rights, etc, I'll take him. My other Senator Inhoffe is also conservative, has been called a loon and crazy for saying for years that global warming is a scam, and his voting record tends to (mostly) agree with my own beliefs and ideas. We aren't going to take our country back through the polls. Thats simply a facade. We have to expose the real people that run this country, and they aren't elected. Granted voting out all the incumbents would show the real powers that be that we are tired of the way the country is heading and will no longer stand for it, which may stop/slow down some of their plans short term, but the American Sheeple have a short memory and a long list of goods/services that they want and are willing to trade freedoms to receive. On a good note, an uprising has been brewing and I think the people will soon have enough of it. (By soon, I mean relatively speaking, maybe 20-30 years?)
  5. I stealth vape everywhere. If you vape in public, as Chris said you should get permission first, and you should do it every time. You never know when a new manager is on duty or something. What you do not want to do is walk around and flaunt it, and succeed in getting e-cigs banned in establishments before they have a real chance to take off. You don't see any vapors out there because I think most of us don't go around flaunting our e-cigs and way around the ban while sticking our noses up at the non smokers. We simply get our nicotine when we want, without creating hostilities towards the e-cig. Hopefully in time there will be more tests to show the safety of these devices and change the perception of the general public, but until then, please act accordingly. If someone has a problem with you vaping, you can try to explain that you are not smoking, but if they just won't have any of it, be the bigger person and let it go.
  6. The SLB atties are fine, they just produce more like a 901. Cooler vapor, less throat hit, more flavor. The batteries themselves are what would worry me. If they are SLB and not Joye, while they would work fine, they have a problem with not always shutting off (though the LED does). I've fried one atty due to the clone batteries, and while I still use them on occasion, because I paid for them, I tend to stick with the Joye. It's pretty telling to me that when I give stuff away to family etc, I make sure to only give them Joye batts. SLB might make a good e-cig, but they need to leave the 510 to Joye, or fix their batteries.
  7. I have a power inverter in my truck. I can run chargers and/or a usb pt off it so hopefully I'm good. My biggest problem would be getting fuel. Back in 2000 we had an ice storm here and lost power for over a week. Luckily I was able to get fuel in the next town (about 15 miles away) so hopefully if we run into a no power situation again I'll be okay. My truck is a diesel and I'd be able to idle it for a long, long time to run my power inverter on minimal fuel.
  8. My batteries don't last either. I've had a time or two that I've pressed the button and nothing, have to press it a little harder to get anything but it's not common yet, hopefully it doesn't become a problem. I'm in the same boat as you Schizophretard. My batteries charge up quickly and die quickly, so I'm assuming either the charger is faulty or the batteries are already full of dead cells. When I get my new batteries I should know for sure.
  9. No need to charge the batteries for 8 hours. They come pretty much completely charged. The first charge on my spade the batteries didn't seem to last all that long. After subsequent charges they were fine. It really doesn't make sense, since lithium ion batteries don't require a primer charge or have a charging memory, but other people have stated the same thing. If you're batteries are still giving you problems after a charge or two, I'm sure you can get the batteries replaced. The charger that comes with them can be a little bit tricky though. Make sure they have good contact when you charge them to insure you are getting a full charge.
  10. I wasn't going to post here because I felt the first couple of post pretty much said it all, but I believe if I am ever put in this situation I will try to diffuse it before it becomes an issue. I would tell her that of course there are trace amounts of nicotine in the exhaled vapor, but it dissipates very quickly. I would try to find out if her reaction was actually to nicotine or to cigarettes. If she can eat tomatoes, potatoes, or other foods containing nicotine, she is not sensitive enough that the exhaled vapor will bother her. Honestly, although I have no proof to back it up, you probably have about as much of a chance being THAT sensitive to nicotine as you do being allergic to the sun.
  11. It just pulled right out. It fit pretty loose in the cap. There's nothing actually holding it in.
  12. Dang man, you gotta quit coming up with this stuff. You make jokes about you being sick, then I laugh at them, feel like I'm laughing about you being sick, and I'd feel bad if I were a better person. Anyway, glad to see you are finally getting better. I was down a while back for 7 days, then like you it got to where I was still sick, but no so sick that I wanted to stay in bed. The cough lingered for a couple more weeks. Hope you get back 100% soon.
  13. My spade seems to be working better after simply wiping off the spring and end cap with a dry cloth. Nothing looked dirty, maybe simply taking the spring out and putting it back in helped with contact? At any rate, I doubt that it helped battery life any, but we shall see.

  15. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/new-jersey-politicians-reject-public-health-care-authorities-approve-e-cigarette-restrictions-79603437.html I realize it's old news, but it's a new article so I thought I'd post it. It outlines the stupidity of it all.
  16. That really leans me towards the batteries. I really hope it is, as like I said, I'm having the same problems and if it's not the batteries, I would have to lean towards a short of some kind draining the batteries quickly. Batteries seem most likely especially considering there seems to be at least 3 of us with roughly the same problem, and the spade seems well built. I'm assuming these batteries are specially made considering they are the only protected 10440's that I know of. I'm hoping that we aren't finding the reason that there haven't been protected 10440's before now. Maybe we just got a bad batch or a few faulty pcb's are causing some problems?
  17. I think it might be the batteries, as I've been having the same problem. My batteries are already shot I think, as I get maybe 1.5 hours out of one and maybe 30-45 minutes out of the other. I just ordered 6 more, so we'll see. My spade is hitting fine with the battery thats still getting 1.5 hours for a while, but dwindles fairly fast. I'm finding myself going back to my 510 batteries pretty often now.
  18. Wow, I never thought I'd say this, but I kinda wish smokes here were $70 bucks a carton. It would take half the time to make my money back, which would give me incentive to buy more stuff!
  19. I just saw this. Cignot charges $5 for shipping, and I think it might be orders over $50 gets free shipping. I'm not entirely sure, but I usually get 2 starter kits and shipping is free. I just went and added a no box kit alone to my cart to see shipping costs, and it said the total was $40.00, so $5 shipping. Not sure what would have happened for them to show $15 for you. Congrats on pulling the trigger! The 510 is an excellent starting e-cig and IMHO performs as good or better than any 3.7v e-cig out there. The only way to beat it would be to move up to a higher voltage mod. Getting the PCC was a smart move, because the battery life on these things really is dismal.
  20. Oh it's not my knowledge ddavelarsen, smarter people than me come up with this stuff. I simply parrot it to other people that might not have seen their excellent work and passion in figuring out just wtf is really going on!
  21. A forum meeting in Vegas? Since I'm not even anywhere remotely close to break even, and don't see myself there anytime soon, who's gonna volunteer to pay for my slot addiction?
  22. Glad to hear you are starting to feel better. I'm starting to feel like I might be coming down with something myself Hopefully if I am you are suffering more than I will (nice guy ain't I, to wish that? ) Anyway, get well Keenan!
  23. Good luck on getting everything sorted out. As I said before, especially with the holidays there really is a very real chance that they actually didn't receive it, and it escalated into everybody calling the other person a liar because they knew they weren't lying. I'm sure Vaprlife will make things right if you can indeed prove that you left it in the hands of the post office. Good luck!
  24. I'm pretty much repeating what I have read by seemingly knowledgeable people on ecf about the MAOI's. As far as the depression goes, I think it's common even with vaping. I know personally, once I remember during regular business hours, I really need to make an appointment with my doctor to get some anti depressants. I don't feel depressed, but since cutting wayyyy back/basically quitting analogs I've been sleeping a LOT (execpt for the past 30 hours, in which I haven't slept at all. God bless coffee)
  25. I think the MAOI's probably have more to do with it than the nic. I smoked 2.5-3 packs of lights per day, and 36mg works hard to keep me level. It seems I'm constantly vaping (not sure how many ml's today since I'm filling out of a 50ml bottle, but I have went through 5 batts for the spade and one reg 510 batt), yet my mother smoked 3-4, with the figure being closer to 4, packs per day of lights and is absolutely positively hasn't touched a cigarette since her lips hit an e-cig fine. In all reality, we are probably upping our nic intake to compensate for the loss of the other chemicals, yet that does seem to work. Regardless of the reason someone needs higher mg nic than others, they simply do. It's that or analogs, and yes, it sucks for us who's juice will probably be regulated out of existence.
