  1. Ok, my Omega came in this afternoon and I'm very pleased. Just like everyone has said and I figured it is built like a tank, just like the SB, but lighter and a little bit smaller. It may be due to the tapering but it feels significantly smaller when held. The switch is great, I love that it is 100% user serviceable. This is one hell of a PV, and I feel fairly certain (knocking on wood) this thing will still be working 10 years from now which was my primary concern when purchasing another PV. Lately I've been having a bad luck streak with my mods and even attys, so I'm hoping my shiny new Omega will be a constant in my life for some time.

  2. Ok, I'll give this one a shot.

Most people on this forum will recommend you start with a 510 or a variation of that basic model. A very popular one is the Janty / Joye eGo. Manual switch battery, long battery life, it's a very highly regarded variation of the 510. Here is a link to one from a VT certified supplier... /joye-ego-black.html This kit is basically 2 fully functioning units, so when one goes down (usually the atomizers last about 1 month if you take care of them) you have a back-up while you order replacement parts.

You will want to order some juice as well, can't really recommend a flavor as it's too subjective, but pick something that sounds tasty to you and give it a go. Some suppliers offer small tester size bottles for cheap, and even small variety boxes some places so you can try a lot of different flavors before you order the larger sizes.

As to your concerns about burning yourself or others, it generally is not an issue. Unless you just had a unit malfunction and turn itself on for a long time without you noticing the atomizers generally do not get hot enough to burn you. I stick mine directly in my pocket right after using it all the time. The vapor does have a scent to it, I notice it more with a high voltage mod unit than with a standard 3.7V device, but it definitely has a scent, however it dissipates very quickly. As to quitting smoking, again that all depends on you. Some people use it as a way to quit smoking entirely and slowly step down their nicotine content until it is zero at which point they can keep vaping 0mg liquid or quit vaping as well, others use it as a safer alternative to smoking and have no intentions of quitting vaping.

  3. Hey all, so recently i heard about this liquid called k2... and judging by its description its supposed to have certain "effects" on he user that are quite good. I have tried it but i was drinking so i doint really know but, has anyone ever had an experience with Kloud 2 (k2) liquid before? I want to make sure its 100% safe beore i try it again. Thanks and happy vaping!

    Link it...

  4. Thanks for the video Brian! I'm really diggin' the PT capabilities of the SB! Is this the only device that can do that? I just might be sold!

There are other mods out there that have a PT option, but seriously the Mods built by Chad and sold on AltSmoke.com (SB, BB, Omega) are the highest build quality I've seen in any PV so far. If you're ready to buy a mod I can't recommend the SB enough, I'm assuming my Omega will be the same.

  5. Yeah they absolutely make atomizers with higher resistance ratings for HV devices. I personally like my atomizer right around 3.5ohms for 5-6V, I've personally had the best luck with the BE112s (801 style) and I have purchased some HV attys from East Mall (4.5ohm) but they seem to burn out faster than my stock BE112s. I have BE112s that have lasted multiple months at high voltage with no problems at all.

  6. GDub - pretty much the same size as the SB. It is just a hiar shorter (can barely notice) and a little smaller in diameter. Do you get your BE112s from BE? Looks like they ship directly from China. I got mine from indyvapor, but was looking around for other sources.

Yeah, I've ordered direct from Best E-Cig twice now, just about 1 week door to door provided you don't have customs problems. $15 to ship though, so be sure to order enough to make it worth your shipping costs.

  7. How does it vape? It vapes as expected... like a beast. I'm using two LiFePO4s for 6V and a BE112 atty (thanks GDub for the atty tip) and it vapes great - just like the SB.

Really glad you're enjoying the BE112s, still my go to atty. I decided to check out the Omega myself, ordered it late last night so it won't ship until tomorrow, but I figured as much when I placed the order. 100% user serviceable had me sold. Seems like the spring in the switch is the weakest point, and will be cheap and easy to replace if ever needed. As far as size goes, is it pretty much the same size as the SB? That's how it looks form the pictures. The size is not a deal breaker at all for me, but it's my only complaint of the SB.

  8. My Indulgence went down on me a couple of weeks ago, and with my Joker still away for warranty repair I needed a new PV, so since my wife's Silver Bullet is by far the most dependable and well built of all the PV's I've used I decided I'd just head on back to AltSmoke.com and pick one up for myself. I'll be the first to say the Silver Bullet is definitely on the large side for me, it doesn't fit very comfortably in my pockets and it's an attention grabber when used in public, still when it comes to a PV I think will be working 2 years down the road there's only one choice in my opinion and that is the Silver Bullet. So I checked out the Omega while I was there getting ready to place my order, did a few quick checks on the forums and Youtube and decided to just go ahead and get the Omega instead. I love the ability to fully disassemble the entire switch mechanism making it very user serviceable should the worst ever happen, but I have a feeling it will be just as dependable as the Silver Bullet we have here at home. I wish it was a little smaller, I just can't justify buying another PV that breaks down inside of 0-6 months, so I'm sticking with the one PV manufacturer that hasn't disappointed me yet. I'll post something when I get it.

  9. I just made up some juice, and for the life of me I don't know what happened. I followed my own recipe that I have used in the past...and this time it really sucks. Has anyone had this experience? Now I have to run it down the drain and try again. Most unhappy.

More details please... how was the taste unpleasant? what are you using to measure? etc...

  10. So I've seen this mentioned before, and don't know what it's about? Why do you have to do it, and HOW do you do it? I ordered a couple of new atomizers a while ago, and now seem to be needing some help!

    Patty

You don't have to clean your attys, as many before me have said they are meant to be somewhat disposable. I clean my attys periodically (usually when I'm changing the flavor I use with it), but cleaning an atty can sometimes be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Many people will suggest you just blow them out with some compressed air (careful about the air duster cans, they contain a bittering agent to discourage inhalation abuse) or some will say they wash theirs out with hot water. I use a combination of the 2 techniques personally, generally blowing them out works fine, but every now and then I do boil my attys in distilled water then let them dry for about 24 hours before using them again.

  11. Ok guys, what you're looking at here is like the Cadillac of vaporizers. But these are not intended for e-juice. These are generally used for a "Herbal" vape. I will say these things rock at vaporizing plant matter, but I have no idea how well it would work for e-juice.

  12. Talking legal ones here folks.

Seems a very generic useful vapor delivery device.

Like, if I have a cold, can I use a Vicks type liquid to relieve it?

    Asthma inhalers maybe?

A strong menthol juice is pretty comparable to Vicks in my opinion. I'm pretty sure most of those asthma inhalers use Albuterol which is a prescription medication, so unless you're a pharmacist I don't see you being able to acquire it.

  13. I travel frequently for work and I choose not to use it in most indoor public places as well. I don't use it in the airport or on the plane, it just seems inconsiderate with the level of stress traveling alone can put people through, why add to it. I will say I love being able to use it in my non-smoking hotel room. I hated taking the 20 floor elevator ride, and then worming my way through the lobby just to smoke a cigarette, I mean I spent as much time going to and from my room as I did smoking the cigarette itself. I actually used my e-cig in the movie theater not long ago, just held my hits a little longer to cut down on the amount of vapor exhaled.

  14. I've seriously been thinking about buying some pure nic from China. That would be a little scary to handle, but proper clothing and protective gear should make it relatively safe. It'd sure be nice to have that much more control. I liter of pure nic is less than $300; about the same as 100mg locally. That's just too inexpensive not to consider.

I saw your threads on ECF, those guys can be a little hostile. Honestly I'd be a little wary of working with pure nicotine, but if you take proper precautions I don't see that it would be that difficult.

  15. That's good. I've heard you can save more money by DIY. . .but I don't know if I would ever be comfortable enough to do that without fear that i will mess everything up.

The DIY route is the way to go if you really want to save money on juice. Purchasing a bulk quantity of high nicotine content base and then cutting it down to the appropriate strength is by far the cheapest way to get your e-juice. But you do need to take proper precautions when handling the high strength base. Gloves and proper measuring equipment are a must. I'd suggest spending some time trying some premade juices first to get an idea of what you like and don't like, then start investing in a good DIY setup.

  16. As for seedman.com, would you use that like any other flavoring? It's for spraying on real tobacco.

Yeah, I was reading DIY posts on the other forum I believe and the seedman top note tobacco flavorings were referred to as a "secret weapon" or something to that effect. My understanding is they are quite potent and are used pretty much like any other flavoring.

EDIT: Did you get the Tobacco Absolute from PA? Please let me know what you think of their flavors. So far I am extremely impressed with the Pear, Green Apple, Apple, Graham Cracker and even Wintergreen flavorings from them, I have a lot left to try still, but the Pear has been my all day vape as of late. I think I picked up about 18 flavors or so, maybe we should start a thread where we can post which flavors we've tried and what we think of them. I got a lot of fruity stuff bu I also picked up some Menthol and Ethyl Maltol crystals to experiment with as well.

  17. I ran the numbers through a juice calculator and for 33.95 you can either purchase 60ml @ 100mg / or 125ml @ 60mg for the same price. At a 15mg juice I could create 400ml from the 60ml 100mg base and 500ml with the 125ml at 60mg. So thats what I meant with the extra 100ml of juice. Just thought I would throw it out there that it would be more cost effective to use 60mg base at these prices. I checked 500ml at 60 and it is even more efficient. $10 less than 250ml at 100mg and you can create 335ml more juice at 15mg/ml. interesting... So $90 for 500ml of 60 is a pretty good deal I guess.

Yeah, but that extra 100ml is actually the bulk price savings for the most part. As I said you are correct that you get more nic for the buck @ 60mg/ml, but the price drop is more significant because you are purchasing a larger amount of liquid. Either way, you definitely found an exploitable flaw in the pricing.

  18. Well, I'm just starting out in the DIY world. I got so much nic stocked up now I figure I better start using it. Currently, my all day vape is VT Tobacco. I figure if I'm going to be able to DIY I need to find something similar. Anyone have a good tobacco recipe?

Oh - also looking for a good coffee flavor, but hopefully with a flovoring that's not dark in color.

I haven't tried these but I have found some very positive posts regarding them. Look at the "Top Note Flavors" about halfway down the page...

Top Note Tobacco Flavors @ seedman.com

Not a ton to choose from, but here are the ones that look most relevant to me... "Light Brand", "Commercial Cigarette", "Captain Black Type", "English Tobacco Flavor"

Also check out The Perfumer's Apprentice I have really been digging on their flavors lately.

  19. I have just started doing DIY with my son and have been reading all of the forums and links. My eyes are now blurry and my mind has turned to mush. I will be back tomorrow hopefully with clear eyes and a clear mind. Thanks for all of your posts and links and I am sure that I will drive you all crazy in the next few weeks, months and years with all my questions.

    Thanks

    Lynn

If you haven't already I'd suggest purchasing some good measuring equipment. You can get very affordable graduated cylinders here --- Home Science Tools --- Only $6.95 to ship any size order.

When I first started I pretty much eyeballed most things and counted drops, this is not the ideal way to do it. If you want to really develop and improve your flavors consistently it really helps to use accurate measurements and keep records. Also if you're working with high strength nic base you really do need to take the proper safety precautions by using the right equipment for the job. Other than that be sure to try different flavor manufacturers, taste is a very subjective thing.

  20. I saw that coming a mile away BD! :D Yeah, I think VT grape soda has to be one of the all time favorite flavors, not just grape flavors.

I'm kind of with DAYVAPE that most flavors from anywhere could be quite a bit stronger though. Maybe that's just from so many decades of smoking, I can't much taste liquids I haven't made myself. But I have to admit I've never built a satisfying grape flavor; just going to have to rely on Chris for that. (Someday, assuming I get my nic level down enough. ;))

The best Grape DIY I have ever made myself was actually barely any grape. I mixed Loranns Blueberry and Apple about 50/50 and then added a few drops of Grape (seriously, like 3-5 drops in a 10ml batch). Surprisingly it tasted like grape to me.

  21. I haven't used any yet. That's my FDA stash... 375ml of 100mg. I've got quite a bit of 48mg from MFS that I'll use first. I haven't done much mixing yet, but will start soon.

Nice. I mixed up a 10ml batch of "Apple Pie" for the wife last night. Turned out pretty good, a little heavy on the cinnamon for me, but that's how she likes it, here's what I used:

All flavors are from Perfumers Apprentice

    10% - 1.0ml Apple Flavor

    05% - 0.5ml Graham Cracker Flavor

    05% - 0.5ml Cinnamon Flavor

    80% - 8.0ml 25mg/ml 50/50 PG VG Base

If I were making it for me I'd cut back on the Cinnamon by at least half, it's just so overpowering. Maybe add a little Ethyl Maltol to sweeten it up a bit, the Cinnamon is so sweet I'll probably need it to compensate for cutting it back, and the ethyl Maltol should add a good sweet marshmallow taste.

  22. The price at MFS has gone up now. He had been selling it quite cheap for a while, but it's back up now. Good thing I stocked up. Got lots of pink nic from Levy also.

So how is the pink tinted nic? I assume it's just like all the rest with a slight pink hue? I almost picked some up but instead opted to wait for his new supply to arrive. I had plenty of juice to get me by until it arrived so it was no issue, but I was tempted to jump in on the savings with the pink stuff. Either way I still got a steal of a price on the 125mg/ml so I'm very pleased. Mixed up 250ml of 25mg/ml base last night (finally got to break in my new graduated cylinder) at a 50/50 PG and VG blend and I'm very happy with the results. I usually use about 15-20% flavor so that gets me down to about 20mg/ml by the time I drop it on my atty. I'm loving the DIY experience, so much control over every aspect of the juice!
