  1. I'd be much obliged man. As far as testing for nic content goes, there is a way to do it that doesn't require a complete lab, but it is pretty involved, at least it would be for me. When I get a chance I'll try to find the thread where I saw this but I think it was in the ECF DIY Liquid forum.

LOL, you're so right, I tend to forget ECF is out there... http://www.e-cigaret...aps-method.html

And it gives me an excuse to buy some sulfuric acid!

Edit: So after reading through the procedure a few times it really does seem simple and straightforward enough. I have the graduated cylinders so all I really need is some Bromothymol Blue and the .12n Sulfuric acid, but neither are expensive so that's easy enough. I really don't know how many times I'll need to do the test so maybe it's not really even worth the $8.00 I'll spend on supplies, but hey it's in the name of science. Everything is more fun when science is involved!

  2. How to know how much nic you're getting is another story.

That is something I've been trying to look into and maybe someone here knows the answer. Are there any test kits out there so I can confirm nic content? I imagine since most people have no need for a test like this it most likely involves real laboratory equipment that just would not be financially viable for 99% of the people out there. Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

  3. Man I'm glad I just placed an order for 500ml of Nic base, should last me and the wife a couple of years easily, which to my understanding is about it's shelf life as well. VG is easy enough to buy locally so even if I have a hard time sourcing PG I'm still okay. I am thinking my stockpile of about 25 brand new and 10 used and working atomizers may not be enough. Probably best to double that. Also thinking maybe get some atomizer connections in case my units break down and I have to build one of my own as I'm sure those will become scarce fast should the worst happen... Ugh, pisses me off we even have to think this way. Just remember people it's like anything else, unless they restrict all the individual components required to vape with a little effort and ingenuity you can still accomplish your goal.

  4. Looks like it will be a couple of weeks until I get my order. All good though, I appreciate Levy sticking to a standard of excellence for his products, I may just use this as an excuse to try out some of the newer VT Juice flavors (still haven't tried the Sweet Dawn).

  5. The postings are starting about the FDA and Customs starting to seize small e-cigg shipments from China and I suppose other countries to individual consumers. It will not be long until full fleged histeria sets in and you will not be able to find any attomisers in stock. There will no doubt be a run on high strength nic base as well.I have a feeling this is the year when "Big Tobacco" rides in to our rescue with a method for our protecters to gather the tax revenues they need to pay for all the new and proposed programs .Get ready for a long summer of drama.

Ah, looks like my safety net may just get tested this year. Got about 25 spare atomizer (501 & 801) along with a lot of high strength nicotine base, but now I'm thinking maybe I need more...

  6. Yeah, so here's the story... The 125mg/ml is for resellers only. The link to that product does not appear on the website unless you have been approved to purchase it, but the Google spider bots found it and created a Google search result. After looking around I still cannot find a cheaper supplier for nicotine base. Even at $180 for 500ml of 100mg/ml base it's still cheaper than anyone else I have found online. Guess if I want to buy 125mg/ml at wholesale price I'll just have to start up my own e-juice store, till then the 100mg/ml will do just fine.

  7. LOL, ok so I tried to place an order for the 500ml of 125mg/ml and my order was almost immediately cancelled and I received an email saying I was not authorized to purchase that amount at that strength. Apparently the old axiom of "if it seems to good to be true" reared it's ugly head yet again. Either way, his prices on 100mg/ml base isn't bad, but no where close to the amazing deal I hoped to get. I'm just going to have to keep looking around I guess...

  8. I've been completely satisfied. I've gotten 50mg/ml PG, then 100mg/ml VG and 100mg/mg as well as their straight PG and VG. All my juices come out tasting just fine. No weird tastes or any other concerns. Juices come out with the throat hit I'd expect with the amount of nic I mix in. Shipping is always incredibly fast too.

Nice, thanks for the info. I'm just going to have to pick up 500ml I guess and store it in a cool, dry and dark place.

  9. That's a lot of liquid for someone to have on hand. Seems a little extreme.

I completely agree as to the quantity, however when the price is that right even if I flushed half down the toilet it's still cheaper than just about any other option out there. Personally I quit smoking analogs because of the cost, I know that seems crazy to some of you, but for me it was the cost of the cigarettes that finally drove me to look into the e-cig, not my health. Yes my health is still a concern, that's why I'm a little skeptical about purchasing such an inexpensive product, but really I may just have to put my lab rat hat on and give this stuff a shot.

  10. I've made 2 orders from Xtreme, not that huge of a qty however but have been please with what I've gotten from him.

Did you get any of the DIY nic base? Just curious as to hear someone who's used the products thoughts on it... I don't want to be stuck with 500ml of weird tasting nic base.

  11. So I've been looking around at different sites to get my nicotine base for DIY e-liquids and I stumbled across this...

    http://www.xtremevaping.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=73&category_id=5&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1&vmcchk=1&Itemid=1

They sell 500ml of 125mg Nicotine Base for $147.00... that's crazy cheap. Does anyone know if this is quality stuff or not? If it is I'll have to pick up a half liter, at that strength it should last me a couple of years!

  12. I've made some DIY juice with cinnamon oil that tasted great, just like hot tamales, but the cinnamon oil would separate from from the base and it had to be shaken all the time. Also I think it deteriorated an atomizer connection on my wife's VP1. I can't really say 100% for sure but just thought I'd throw that out there. So if your juice doesn't separate then I'd imagine you're in the clear, but if it does be careful and just keep an eye on your equipment.

  13. Yes, I've heard of people using 7.4 volts, but you have to have an HV atty.

Nhaler has both the 4.5 and 5.2 on this page (link below).

The 4.5 atty will generate 8 watts at 6v and 12 watts at 7.4v.

The 5.2 atty will generate almost 7 watts at 6v and 10.5 watts at 7.4v.

The 3.5 atty will generate 10.3 watts at 6V and 15.6 watts at 7.4v (not recommended).

I hear that 10 watts is the "sweet spot", but I'm still waiting

My 3.5 ohm atty's should be here tomorrow, and hopefully my batteries will be too. So, this is just all theory and hearsay, I don't have any persoanl experience yet. :)

    Nhaler HV Atty

Just to let you knows the BE112s ( http://www.bestecig.com/product_view.asp?ID=17 )are 3.5ohm as well. You can get a 5 pack for $25 and they work great on both my SB and Indulgence @ 6V, but really I like the 4.5ohm HV-EM8 @ 6v as well, I take fairly long drags so the 4.5ohm attys keep me from boiling my juice and still kick out a good amount of vapor. Honestly I don't know how people deal with 2.5ohm attys on 6V mods, my 510s just seem to burn the juice and make me cough @ 6V.

  14. Thanks for the heads up Dr J., unfortunately it seems there are people out there treating this like the Gold Rush, just selling inferior products with little to no customer support while this is still a hot trend. I hate to sound like an elitest A hole, but just look at all the half assed websites out there selling products and they look like the old AOL homepage templates from 1996. People with zero business experience are all trying to be their own boss, and while some of them do a great job and prosper, it seems many are just trying to cash in before the bubble bursts.

  15. I absolutely love my Silver Bullet, but it's so big and heavy! The build quality is second to none, I could use it for self defense if I ever needed to, seriously the Silver Bullet is a beast. The button is perfect, nothing else comes close in my experience. Now all that said you could also get the Indulgence as Dr J. mentioned above. The Indulgence has a lot of options for a really low price, and it's not only a lot lighter than the Silver Bullet, it's quite a bit slimmer too. You can get the Indulgence with the USB passthrough option and the Extended 6V battery cup for something like $85 before shipping is added on to it. The switch is not nearly as nice as the SB but it comes with so many options for such a low price. If you're strapped for cash it's definitely worth a look.

  16. I know you and I have spoken privately about this Dr J, but I figured I'd go ahead and do a public version for everyone here at VT.

First things first, shipping. My experiences shipping from China (all 4 of them) have been very good. Generally packages arrive in about 5 business days, so really that's not much slower than most suppliers here in the US, while it is more expensive I have found that the reduced prices from buying direct like that tends to make up for it and then some. In this specific case I ordered Thursday evening and received my Indulgence the next Thursday morning. It cleared customs in under 24 hours and was then overnighted from San Francisco to my door in Houston, TX.

Now on to the Indulgence. I like it a lot, can't say I'm totally in love with it, but it's great bang for the buck. In terms of straight build quality it's decent. The switch feels a little loose, not so loose that I would worry about it failing, but it does have a little bit of wiggle room. You can definitely tell when it's depressed, it has a very tactile click when you engage it. It's not as nice as switch on the Silver Bullet, but I actually prefer it to the switch on the VP units. The Indulgence is very light weight, and considerably slimmer than the Silver Bullet that uses the same size batteries (if you have the extended cup). Also it should be noted that the battery cups are all extremely well vented for anyone concerned about a battery meltdown. East Mall claims this is a fully solder-less design, which gives me high hopes for long term durability as solder points can often be the weak link that breaks the chain. The multiple atomizer fittings are great, they're easy to switch out and the cap that holds them down fits like a glove, but because they are interchangeable they can still rotate a little when attached to the unit. At first it kind of bugged me, I'm used to feeling a little more resistance when I tighten down my atomizer, with the Indulgence the whole fitting will spin once it's tightened. I guess maybe that's not a bad thing since it makes it near impossible to over tighten an atty on the connection. The last thing I'll say is the finish on the silver model seems to tarnish very quickly, it cleans up fine, but I'm still amazed at how quickly it will tarnish.

Accessories- So I bought both the Extended Battery Cup and the USB Passthrough, we'll start with the Extended Battery Cup. The batteries supplied with the Extended Cup are LifePO4 16340 3.2V 1000mAh, not the Tenergy RCR123a LifePO4 750mAh that so many people are using for their 6V mods. While they are very similar in size the 16340s are a little longer than the RCR123a. So this means if you plan to use the RCR123a batteries with your 6V Indulgence you'll need to stretch the spring at the bottom of the cup out a little bit so they sit high enough to make a solid connection (same goes for if you're trying to use the 18650 for a long lasting 3.7V experience). Also as I pointed out in the above paragraph the Extended Battery Cup is very well vented, so if the worst should happen you'll end up with a brief blowtorch instead of a pipe bomb. The USB passthrough works as advertised, I haven't plugged mine into a computer, I have enough AC to USB adapters that I just don't see the point in risking it. But I can say that with the AC adapter supplied with my VP-PT it rips like a champ. One issue I have had is the 3.5mm jack it uses to supply power seems to be a little intermittent. Occasionally I have to pull it out and pop it back in to get power, I need to contact East Mall about this and see if I can get a replacement, I'm just crazy busy trying to finish stuff up before I go out of town next week.

HV-EM8 (High Voltage 801 style atomizer, 4.5ohms) - These things are amazing @6V. Just enough resistance to keep my juice from boiling, and they seem to be built like tanks. The mesh on the bridge is very thick and seems to hold a couple more drops of liquid than standard attys without flooding. Time will tell if these things can out last other atomizer models, but based on what I have seen of them so far I am very hopeful.

Overall the Indulgence is a good versatile unit for a great price.

  17. I clean my attys anytime I want to get rid of a juice flavor on that atty. Usually around 2-4 weeks at the most. I only use distilled water to clean them, just boil a pot and rinse each one out a few (or ten) times each, then blow them out with compressed air and let it dry out overnight. Be sure to prime them up with juice really well before using them again.

  18. The Tenergy LifePO4 RCR123a batts do work in the 6V extended cup, but as I believe Dr J said in one of his reviews you have to stretch the spring out a little to get them to fit well. The batteries provided are LifePO4 16340 3.2V 1000mAh (not Tenergy) and they fit just fine without stretching the spring, but the Tenergy LifePO4 750mAh are a little shorter and require a little work to get to fit in properly. Also the battery cup is a little too wide for the batts so they tend to shift and rattle a little, I ended up making some fairly thin bumpers out of electrical tape and applied them to the inside wall to prevent this and it feels really solid now.

FTJoe- When you going to Vegas? I'm working a show out there (NAB) April 12-15.

Also the 18650 will fit the extended cup, but just like the Tenergy LifePO4 750mAh it sits a little low until you fix the spring.

Side Note: So far the spring in the extended cup is the only real problem I've found, and I'm really glad that it's such an easily fixable and inexpensive part to replace myself. The button is alright, nothing like the amazing button on the Silver Bullet, but it's lighter and slimmer then my Silver Bullet but packs just as much punch @ 6V and has tons of great options with the USB PT add on and the multiple battery cup sizes. Also connections for pretty much every major atomizer there is included, which is awesome. Definitely get the HV attys they sell (4.5 ohm) I'm really impressed with the ones I got (801 style) the mesh bridge is really thick, and they definitely handle the 6V load really well, no boiling.

  19. Yeah that's no good. Customer service is the name of the game since the majority of the products sold through these sites are all coming from the same manufacturer. Unless you sell a truly unique and desirable product it's your customer service that will attract and keep customers. Thanks for the heads up.

  20. I do not care if it looks like a cigarette anymore, but I have no knowledge of Mods at all!!!I do not have any clue what a bb is ! or a Spade or VP1 . Can someone show me a link to where I can purchase. Will these work with my 510 attys? Money is an issue so I cant buy something super expensive. Any suggestions ?

Thanks so much for all the info and suggestions!!

Here is a link to the Spade (510 atomizer fitting & 10440 360mAh battery)... http://www.vaportalkstore.com/products/The-Spade-510-Ecig.html

Out of stock at the moment, but I believe DietSmokes sells them as well.

  21. Darn - titanium too, thought I had this figured out. Don't see the extended battery cup though which I believe is needed to walk around at 6V.

EastMall has the Gold Extended Cup in stock, I swear they had Silver as well yesterday, but they must sell out fast.
