Although it didn't happen with a Provari, I had a brand new IkenVape IO6 1.8Ω atty pop on me recently and did just exactly what you described...an audible "POP!" and a cheek-puffing blast of air in my mouth that scared the **** out of me! I was gun-shy for a while after that experience.

Good tips, guys. I decided to change things up a little and ordered some Sweet Caroline from iVape and some of their limited run RY4, too. I ordered some of IkenVape's RY4 Gold PG as well because it's near the top of several Best RY4 lists I've come across lately (right below Forever Vapors' Dulcis...which is, sadly, out of stock). I'm still waiting on those to arrive, and I'll post some reviews once they do. (Can you tell I like RY4?) On my last EC Blend order, I switched my usual Chocolate Malt and RY4 from 50/50 PG/VG to 80/20 PG/VG, and there's a huge difference in the flavor strength. I also used their Create Your Own E-Liquid Wizard to make Blueberry 7, a 7 Leaf Blend with 25% Blueberry in it, and with the same 80/20 PG/VG blend...also excellent. I guess that since PG is supposed to carry flavor more efficiently, I'm tasting those juices a lot better now. The thinner blends also load into cartos easier and seem to wick better in my atty tanks. I think the switch to higher PG content might solve my "vaper's tongue" problem...at least temporarily.

You know, when you think about it, the "making things happen" part is just a coil of wire...if it gunks up, the coating acts as an insulator and blocks the juice from some of the heat, as well as blocking some airflow. With continued use, one of two things will happen; the crud will burn off or disintegrate, or the coil will pop. As long as the coil still gets hot, you've still got a working atty tank. 4 volts (9 watts) with a 80/20 PG/VG usually disintegrates the crud nicely for me.

I've never bought a replacement atty and the performance seems fine to me. I keep waiting on the coil to pop before I replace it, but it just won't die. I'll probably buy a new one soon just to see if it can somehow get any better than it is now. I did a when I first got it back on June 15th of this year, and I'm still using the original 1.8Ω atty. Granted, I don't use it on a regular basis because it's a little bulky and top-heavy for my eGo-style batteries, but I've run a lot of juice through it and can't tell any difference in performance. I do clean the atty with really hot (scalding, actually) running water and then soak it in PGA from time to time, though. When I finally break down and buy a Provari, it'll most likely be my main delivery device.

What do you do when your favorite e-liquids provide you with plenty of vapor but virtually no taste at any wattage? I have, from time to time, noticed that my juices go bland on me for a while, and then miraculously come back to life after a few hours, days, or weeks. It's not just one juice in particular, either. It seems that all of my traditional tobacco-flavored juices do it at once, and fruity flavors are the only thing I can taste, and then just barely. At first, I thought all my e-liquids had gone bad on me because food and beverages still tasted fine. I left my juice container in a hot room and thought the heat had ruined their flavor or something. They later came back to life though, so I had to conclude that the culprit was my taste buds. If anyone has a trick to revive dead taste buds, I'd love to know about it. I've already tried switching flavors, brushing my teeth and tongue, drinking plenty of H20, and eating something salty...all to no avail.

With most PVs being cheaply mass-produced in China, I would imagine that the fail rate is pretty high, but there could be quite a few reasons that your eGo stopped charging. It might be as simple as the center post being pressed down a little too far to make a solid connection with your charger. Since the center post on most devices isn't solidly connected to the device itself but is surrounded by a silicon insulating sleeve, it can usually be lifted back up with a small knife point, pick, or tweezers. Just make sure that your device is turned off so as not to short anything out while you're working on lifting the post back up. In the event that lifting the post doesn't work, I would contact the vendor immediately and see if they'll replace it. I have had 100% success in replacing broken gear when it's relatively new...vendors don't want bad reviews for defective items. a video I found on the technique.

I think what would be neat is a hookah design where the central body contains a main power supply, and each "hose" provides power to an individual connection for a carto/tank/atty. You could use it for social vaping sessions but instead of cooling the vapor through water, each end would actually have an individual delivery device connection. You could even incorporate a variable voltage potentiometer on each mouthpiece to accommodate individual vaping preferences. Just a thought.

<p> I think I will get a couple more, but I'm going to try the 1.8 ohm version next time. I hate to judge on one popped atty, and maybe the 1.8 ohm version will be a little more forgiving than the 1.5 ohm, and they do provide really good taste. However, I can't really look at an $8 (+ shipping) atomizer as "disposable". I mean, I know it's going to die someday, but compared to Boge 2ohm and CCV 1.7 ohm Resurrector cartos for around a buck, I can't justify the expense. On another note, I have to say that the IkenVape 1.8 ohm io6 I got in the mail today kicks major butt in the taste department right out of the package. With the exception of airflow problems on some of my PVs, it just might be the best tasting delivery device I have ever tried.

I personally don't want cool vapor.

...and it looks like about 6 days. 3.4 volts (7.7 watts). It popped this afternoon. Should I even try another one? It did taste good while it lasted.

An experienced vaper once explained to me that when figuring power (wattage) on dual-coil delivery devices, you have to divide your power in half because you're splitting the wattage across two coils, hence a cooler vapor but twice as much...sort of like vaping from two low power setups at once. A dual-coil setup utilizing 9 watts is like taping two 4.5 watt PVs together and vaping them at the same time. Here's a handy little online calculator that does the math for you if you're the curious type. Just enter your device's voltage and your carto/atty/tank's resistance, click the "Calculate" button, and the wattage and amperage will be displayed. It might make things a little easier to figure out what products will perform the same as what you already have, especially when it's time to buy new gear that performs like your favorites. It's also handy when trying to figure out what to set your variable voltage devices at to match other PV's performance.

Yeah...I've noticed that happening with my Vision V2 and V3 Clearos. I wonder what causes that to happen?

Using the formula V² / R = P, where V is voltage, R is resistance, and P is power (in watts), what wattage do you prefer to vape at on your favorite juice delivery devices? I know that for me, it depends on what I'm using as a delivery device. 8.88 watts is just right for my 1.8Ω Vision V2/V3 Clearomizers (4 volts), 7.7 watts seems to be the sweet spot for my 1.5Ω AMG Hybrid Uni atty by Vapage (3.4 volts), and my 2Ω Smok Tech 510 atty provides its best performance at 8 watts (again, 4 volts). My Boge 2Ω and CCV (Smok Tech) 1.7Ω Resurrector cartos both like 3.7 volts, but that puts them at 6.85 watts and 8 watts, respectively, which seems like a pretty big power difference. I don't know why different juice delivery devices work best at different settings (maybe it's in my head ), but when I start messing around with voltage settings, I always tend to go back to those listed above because they work best for me. So how about you?

Same here, but when I unscrew and slide the tip up, what runs down is the same color and consistency as the e-juice I'm using, which leads me to believe that a small amount of e-liquid is, like you said, condensing in the coil area and mouthpiece. It's not enough to make it gurgle, but if unchecked, it will get sucked up and into my mouth...yuck. No big deal if you're mindful of it, though. This happens on every Vision V2/V3 Clearomizer I've used, but never happens using my Vision ViVi Nova, which is surprising because the design concept is so similar.

Better hurry...my friends from work saw mine and are buying them up fast. They are available at quite a few sites, though. I have been using my new 1.5Ω AMG Hybrid Uni by Vapage (from Clouds Of Vapor) on mine for a 7.7 watt vape, and dressed it up with an eGo Nomad Cone from IkenVape. It's a real performer, and very pocket friendly.

I have been hearing a lot of good things about the AMG Hybrid Uni by Vapage, so I ordered the 1.5Ω version from Clouds Of Vapor over the weekend. It got here today and I've been trying it out this afternoon. I haven't had much of a chance to rate it against my Smok Tech atty, but I will say that so far, I'm really liking it a lot. The vapor production is really good and I'm getting a good throat hit from it as well. It holds a lot of e-liquid, and the juices I've tried in it taste really good...maybe not better than the Smok Tech atty, but definitely not worse. It seems to produce a slightly hotter vapor, and that's after compensating the wattage on my eGo-C Twist to match the 6.8 watt setup that I'm using my 2Ω Smok Tech atty on. I'm going to keep on vaping both setups and see if I can come to some conclusions, but I have to say that for the money, the AMG Hybrid Uni by Vapage is a great atomizer. I look forward to seeing how long it lasts.

* UPDATE * I got a reply from Isaac at Ikenvape this morning, and they've already shipped out a replacement io6...it should arrive by Wednesday. I really hope this thing lives up to the hype. Not that it's really expensive, but it's supposed to be such a great atty...I was a little miffed when it popped right away. I do have to say that he sounded as disappointed as I was about it's immediate failure. He was genuinely concerned and I could tell right away that he's somebody that cares about his products and customers. I will update this post when it arrives and I have a little time to try it out.
