By government order, analogues are now RM 13.50 per pack. I just changed my counter to reflect the price increase. I have now saved well over RM 15,000. I of course realise this isn't dollars, and of course I didn't spend that much when I first started vaping, but you've got to admit it looks impressive. Too bad I'm still looking for where it goes. Oh yeah, divide by 3 to get approx US dollars.

I admit it. I'm posting this just to raise the score so I can go to the VIP lounge to see what it's all about. But this being the General e Cig Discussion, I guess it's necessary to say something about e Cigs.

There once was a smoker, a joker
Whose smoking was making him broker.
He said, " I'll jump in
    And just start vapin'
And only lose money at poker".

But he started wining at poker
And said, "Now I'm not broker
    I'll buy vaping things,
    With all kinds of bling,
Leaving no cash for the croaker".

Am I the only one who still loves the smell of all tobacco products? The actual use of them is not appealing to me. The few times in my over 500 days of vaping I've had to resort to analogues because of poor planning or system failure, I've enjoyed the first and maybe second toke, but after that all the bad stuff comes back to me. The bad taste, the uncool lung feel etc. But I still love the smell. On the street if I am following a smoker I follow like a dog in heat. At the airport I go to the totally unventilated (Why for fxxx's sake do they do that?) smoking area to vape among the smokers totally sucking up the second hand smoke. Some smokers ask why I don't just vape outside? I usually say, "It's too much trouble to explain that I'm vaping not smoking, and look at their eyes glaze over." Or, " I have a second hand smoke deficiency." Anyway, your thoughts? I know of course everyone's different in this venture. Happy vaping to all!

I just had another thought. Quitting smoking is really now fun! I've never let myself even dare to think this. I am so OCD about smoking and I don't ever want to go back to it, but I've never really allowed myself to think of vaping as fun. If, in my warped mind, I actually enjoy it, maybe I'll feel the need to go back to damaging myself. Intellectually, this makes no sense at all, but somehow it seems risky to get too comfortable, as you never know what's sneaking up on you. But after I really enjoyed chatting with people while waiting my turn at the bank, and getting back in the car and happily spying my vaping stuff, and then taking a few enjoyable (not craved) hits I suddenly realized I'm actually having fun and pleasure with this. If quitting had been this easy years ago, or governments had spent to develop an actually functional quitting device, I'd have quit then. To quote the ubiquitous McDonald's, " I'm lovin' it".

I am a true believer in dill pickles and pickle juice for cramps...my kids make popsicles with it for summer time and we drink it straight out of the jar...I don't like bananas so the pickle works for me.

After almost three months, even if it were proven analogs and ecigs were identical health risks I would still continue to vape over analogs. I wish I could say I understand, but for me vaping is far more satisfying, calming, and pretty sure I get more nicotine now than before just not all the other garbage.

I struggle however with calling my switch to vaping "quitting smoking" but rather a switch to a much healthier alternative I prefer anyway.

So, many of you jumped in to help me get started with vaping, whether it was w/ juice, back up battery or replacement parts. I appreciated every single act of generosity more than I can say. Honestly it renewed my hubby's faith in people (he is extremely jaded). That being said, money is still extremely tight, but since I have received so much help, I decided to try and help others when I can.

Started with the guy that works at the store by my house. He recently started vaping to kick smoking, and I noticed that he was using nasty gas station juice. So we brought him one of our bottles to show him that there are really good quality juices out there, along with a few recommendations on where he can buy quality juice.

Then last week, hubby was approached by a guy at work whose dad is a 30+ year smoker who is dealing with several hope issues. He was asking hubby what all he should buy his dad to get him started. So, hubby, knowing that I have been on this forum night and day asked me to make up a list. I decided to do one better. I put together a vape package. A battery, a tank, and extra coil, plus about 6 different juices in varying nic levels. I included a note with a link to where to buy a charger (I didn't have an extra, and links to online stores with great juices(dad doesn't drive).

So, I will continue on this path. I already feel so much better without smoking. I want to spread the wealth!

So I am challenging anyone that has received help from the vaping community to jump up and help someone else when you can. If I have learned one thing in this journey so far, it is that people want to ask for help, but are too embarrassed to do it, and we can offer help!

    Hugs to all of you!!!

jonnoh reacted to Earthling789 in Proven - Nicotine NOT the addictive component
Following a few article links, which started with this one about a town in MA which plans to ban sales all tobacco and related products (including e-cigs) because of the devil called Nicotine... , I ran across this one from Discovery Magazine, touting the medical benefits of Nicotine for Parkinson's Disease, Tourette’s and schizophrenia.

But, the interesting portion of the article was independent research buried within, proving that Nicotine (alone) is NOT the addictive component of cigarettes (cigars, etc.), and alluding to the fact that Big-Tobacco, researchers, and our government have known this for decades, despite their demonizing of Nicotine publicly!

If Nicotine were so addictive and deadly, do you think we'd be able to buy it from any corner-drug-store, or in bulk on the Internet? Try buying Morphine without a prescription or FDA license.... You can't even buy Lidocaine (Cocaine derivative used as an anesthetic by dentists all over the world) over-the-counter without a prescription or FDA license (in strengths greater than 0.5% - and usually only in first-aid sprays or ointments)!

Saying Nicotine is the evil, addictive component of smoking, IMO, is like saying that motor oil is the addictive component that forces people to drive, and thus the leading (evil) cause of vehicle accidents and vehicle related deaths.

If the sun refuse to shine,
    I don't mind, I don't mind,
If the mountains fell in the sea,
let it be, it ain't me.
Alright, 'cos I got my own world to look through,
And I ain't gonna copy you.

Now if 6 turned out to be 9,
    I don't mind, I don't mind,
Alright, if all the hippies cut off all their hair,
    I don't care, I don't care.
Dig, 'cos I got my own world to live through
And I ain't gonna copy you.

White collared conservative flashing down the street,

Pointing their plastic finger at me.
They're hoping soon my kind will drop and die,
But I'm gonna wave my freak flag high, high.
    Wave on, wave on
Fall mountains, just don't fall on me
Go ahead on Mr. Business man, you can't dress like me.
Sing on Brother, play on drummer.

I agree totally and have used that responce on occasion .... without the LOL.

As to vaping, my goal was to get away from tobacco, which I have done - painlessly I might add. And, at this point I have no plans to quit everything. At my age, this old dog isn't very interested in learning too many new tricks all at once. 50 years of smoking takes a bit of readjusting to get to nothing-to-do-with-my-hands. I ain't too much on "Keeping up with the Joneses". Mr. Jones can do as he wants, I'll do things my way.

I am another one weening myself off nicotine. A year and a half ago I was sucking down 24mg like nobody's business. It got me off cigs for good and I've been lucky as I didn't have a very rough go of it. Gradually I've been stepping down to where I'm totally comfortable around 3mg mostly with an occasional bounce to 0mg or 6mg. Mostly 3mg as I mix 0 and 6.

But lately, I've taken my first attempts at not vaping at all for periods and......it's ......ok. No big reactions. For the first time I can see myself quitting vaping even. Don't get me wrong, I definitely enjoy it, but for me it's always been a way to not smoke. I totally get how it can turn in to a hobby, a passion even, and I wouldn't find fault with that at all. NOT SMOKING is probably one of my greatest achievements. I know, it sounds ridiculous, but it's true. I am SO. FRICKIN. HAPPY. that I'm not smoking that I'd just about break in to song and dance over it if given a slight nudge.

But I could definitely see myself give up vaping too eventually.

OMG This topic is brilliant. I never knew about these functions on my MVPs. I sorta in my electronically challenged mind, thought that it was like screwing a 100 w light bulb into a 12 v socket. It wouldn't do much because of not enough volts. But discovering I wasn't just adjusting watts to voltage and vice versa, but changing on which the unit was functioning. (Not sure I said that right) or whatever I'm doing, has given my MVP more dimensions than I even knew it had. It has made a big improvement in flavour and vapour production. Amazing! Thanks so much to all who provided this info. I shall study all these posts and hopefully become smarter.

Ok, I'll give the 12 a go, and see. And after my last experiment going to the hour long banking exercise without vaping, if I can't soon find lower mg juice, I'll try not vaping an hour or so before sleeping. I'm so brave! Bring it on! It would be so great to sleep through the night without having to drink all the available beer in the neighbourhood

I'm right with you on the "low-pack-anxiety"... if I had less than one unopened pack, I was manic until I made it to the store to restock! Now that I vape, the anxiety has virtually gone away, at least to the fact that I don't have to check to make sure I have a minimum 4-hour supply with me just to check the mailbox

My OCD won't let me get down to one of something anyway... I tend to stock-pile everything from light-bulbs, toilet-paper, dish-soap... anything non-perishable, I like to have at least a 2-3 month supply on hand... and there are times in my life when I was glad I had a few things stockpiled

There aren't many rules on this forum. Just play nice, stay away from no-no subjects of discussion, and you should be just fine.

Actually, Jeff is the one who wields the scary ban hammer. Mine is a thin ban wand with lots o'bling. Think of it as a nice, thin switch, it hurts more than the blunt hammer.
