  1. Well now, it'll be 2 years of vaping in May for me and so far the negative side effects include: No more hacking out a lung every morning, easier breathing, no more breathless stair climbs, no more arm falling asleep when I park my head on it whilst sleeping, no more panic attacks because of shortness of breath, better tasting food, more sensitive smelling, no more OCD about being down to my last 3 cigs, no more coughing when trying to speak to a class, no more wasting brain power watching the clock waiting for the next chance to smoke, significantly less expense, better flavour, more variety, better consistent throat hit with proper liquids and equipment, the hobby fun factor, enjoyment derived from discussing different vaping options and equipment, better blood pressure, feeling returned to fingers and toes, (x rated: better male function), more regular digestion, no more feelings that I'm going to hack myself to death and knowing full well I brought it on my self, no more cravings, no more anxiety that I've got to cut back on these things if I can't quit, and on and on and on........ Sometimes I still wonder at how easy it was over all and that I can go and go and go without wanting a cig after almost 50 years of thinking living without cigs wasn't wort living at all. Thanks to all the engineers and chemists amateur and professional who made and keep improving all the equipment and liquid to make this breakthrough in quitting smoking so enjoyable. I certainly don't know the long term effects of 50 years of vaping, but I do know the effects of 50 years of smoking, and if the last two years for me are any indication, I'll take vaping and FCUK the naysayers, lobbyists, greedy corporate scaredy cats, idiot congressmen and just plain stupid FDA bureaucrats.
  2. Isn't that the coolest feeling? I remember when after a couple of weeks of just vaping, that I would find myself amazed that I'd got interested in something or other and sudden realized I'd not even thought about cigs for a few hours. Now I never think about them unless I get a whiff of my neighbour's or someone on the street's cigarette. Now mostly I just think how glad I'm not the one smoking. It's still amazing to me that as addicted as I was, vaping made quitting so easy. Keep it up! I know you'll be glad you did. To quote a popular phrase...."It gets better"
  3. When I was smoking analouges, I always had in the back of my mind niggling away at me that I should cut down on these things if I can't seem to quit. That thought was always there and even stronger after an awesome BS / drinking session. Now that I'm vaping that thought is off the radar so my sometimes 1000 over hits per day doesn't bother me at all.
  4. RIP And that's the final offer
  5. Where I'm from CBT is the now defunct Connecticut Bank and Trust. I still have one of their visa cards NBA, NFL, ABA, NHL, FDR, JFK, LBJ, MLK, RFK, IBM, ADA, ACA, MTA, LRT, UAE, USA, CPU, DOS, RAM,ROM. GNU. TLA, ABC, CBS, NBC, BBC, CBC, GMO LSD, LDS, MSG, EKG/ECG, EEG, ICU, CCU, MRI, HMS, USS, LAX........................................................................................................................ARRRRRGH!
  6. I'm confused. BVC, FBI, FYI, BDC, ET-S, BTC, MVP, CIA, NSA, NRA, VIP, NCR, RNC, DNC, GOP, ETC. I'm gonna start a movement for the elimination of the three letter abr.
  7. What do neighbours up the street ever know Neighbours up the street actually think my stereo is too loud. Don't believe a word of it.
  8. After almost two years of vaping, I still occasionally notice new taste sensations or intensity. Good example for me maybe, I hope. Lima beans. When I was a kid I hated them and of course ppl of the grandparent generation types forced me to finish them. Then as an adult, for the heck of it I tried them again and became a fan surprisingly. Now as a vaper, I bought some the other day and YUCK! Now I remember why I hated them as a kid. Also I seem to be able to smell things more intensely and from farther away. That has its ups and downs of course.
  9. I started trying this about five or six years ago with those expensive cigalikes that were total BS. Then I got an eGo twist starter kit about April 2013 and my quit day was my 61st birthday on 4 May 2013, and with a few tobacco addicted brain spasms causing me to cheat, or convince myself, "well now it's been a few days, so I know I can have just one", moments..... I've been vaping exclusively for almost two years. And I still can't completely believe it. Sometimes it seems almost miraculous to me.
  10. I'm curious as to why you think the eGo won't work for him, I've been exclusively vaping for almost 2 years and that's how I started. The back story is; I tried a lot of horribly expensive and equally horribly ineffective cigalikes beginning about five or six years ago. I went through ridiculous gyrations to get them. I had to 'direct pay' into one guy's account like a black market transaction to get one pen type thingy that sorta worked for a couple of days only to find the guy had 'disappeared' when I found it not working. (Why not throw money in a hole in the ground?) Then I had to send Western Union funds to China only to have to wait weeks for delivery while making phone calls to the company's reps who said, "we only handle new orders, not inquiries." Upon arrival, finally, a few bad tasting puffs and either the battery died, or the filter looking thingy burnt, or the coil died. Sheesh. I gave the whole thing up as a bad job and just resigned myself to hacking myself to death on Marlboro Reds. Then one fine day about two years ago, I was in a long queue at the bank, and figured, "Why wait in here when I can wait at the coffee shop al fresco table next door and chat with the P-1 guy selling that particular internet service outside the bank." While chatting, a rival internet company set up their kiosk outside the bank and one of the salesman whipped out a longer and a bit fatter than a cigarette black coloured tube, and put it to his mouth and blew out this very impressive cloud! I was impressed! I interrogated him like a prosecutor and thought I could actually quit the cigs if this thing works as well as the guy was saying. I reported this miracle to my sig other, and he surprised me with a starter kit about a week later. (I'd spent the week trying to find the place where the ISP salesman had said he'd bought his with no luck) Malaysia isn't known for good directional road signs and I didn't yet have WAZE. Anyway, the rest is history. I still have my eGo s and although I guess they should be in a museum, they did a wonderful job and I quit cigs because of them. Of course I evolved, but like most smokers, I wanted something to be as close to being like the real thing as possible when I first started. I now find the square box thinggy to be quite satisfying and of course much longer lasting, to say nothing of having more versatility, but the eGo got me over that first need to have something closely resembling something like a cigarette, or at least a cigar. I sure wish your step son luck, and I really wish this had been around when I was at the age to have the potential of being referred to as a "step son" instead as a "great uncle"
  11. Welcome! Good on you! I've been vaping exclusively for almost 2 years now, but in the beginning I vaped two or three weeks, not smoking a day here and two days there before I got the cajones to completely give up the cigs. It really really gets easier over a remarkably short time IMO. For me having tried everything for almost 50 years to quit, this was absolutely amazing and easy. I still don't quite believe it. Loving it every day! Good luck.
  12. Bon jour and that's it for my French except for that "do you want to go to bed with me" song. Welcome.
  13. So 2 packs a day equals 400 hits. Wow I'm like WAY over at 1000 plus! No wonder I'm so happy. I was really restricting my smoking pleasure when I was using cigs.
  14. I'm so sorry for your situation. Losing your mom and worried about your dad. I think if I was one month in and having such problems it would have been right on the edge of smoking or not smoking. One month in is still in the feeling like the baby bird being kicked out of the nest stage and to add tragedy to the mix just might be the breaking point. No one wants to hear that time helps, but it does and if you smoke now, I'm sure one month is enough experience to remember how to get back on track when you're in a better place. I wish all the best to you and your dad in this difficult time.
  15. T-Bone that is so spot on. And Mirage I agree completely. I'm convinced cigarette makers put in things that act as narcotic pain killers so we can't feel the damage being done to our breathing systems. and keep us from thinking about that damage which we all know intellectually is happening. I'm sure they also add bronchodilaters so we can breathe easy while smoking, and steroids to keep the inflammation at bay. Maybe as I've said before, that's why when you wake up in the morning, you can cough out a lung, have a cigarette and suddenly feel alright again. Just being without nicotine doesn't bother me any more that going without a cup of coffee. I don't get all OCD when I can't vape, but with smoking I'd not rest till I got my fix. Walking a mile for a Camel is child's play. Tsunami? Tornado? Hurricane? Blizzard? I'd still get my Reds somehow!
  16. Happy birthday indeed! We owe him big time!
  17. Indeed puff counters can be a wake up call. I was just trying to see how long my MVP would last and on good days would go over 1000 puffs. Then I realized I was actually consuming those 1000 over puffs. So now I wonder how many puffs there were in my 2 packs a day? (More when beer was involved)
  18. Congratulations! That's awesome. I remember that first day like it was yesterday, and it was actually almost 2 years ago. This is the only thing that's worked keeping me off cigarettes after almost 50 years of 2 packs a day. Just keep in mind that nicotine isn't the only addictive substance in cigarettes. There are many chemicals that to my experienced mind are far more addictive than nicotine. Vaping helps quit yes because of the nicotine content, but also the hand to mouth habit and the cloud produced. I also needed the throat hit and that was probably the most valuable thing for me. It's helpful to keep the nicotine content high in the beginning to keep those cravings at bay. I wish you the best because if a die hard smoker like me can, you probably can too.
  19. that ******* is supposed to be schl*** rhymes with dong. Scheesh! I thought this forum was for those over 18. Or at least 16. Anyway not little kids.
  20. Even though I vape in the house, I still love to go to my old outside smoking sanctuary with my netbook, beer, and vaping stuff and drink and vape myself into oblivion listening to my vintage rock on youtube. Also last time I was back in America, I visited my old work and was amazed at the automatic pull in my mind as I passed the designated smoking area.
  21. Indeed "dong". Everytime I'm there I have a hard time with the straight face thingy when some cute young thing in a shop or restaurant asks me for dong. Sheesh! Then of course I'm required to ask, "how many dong?". The laughing fit just a millimetre away. I'm tempted to come back with "you mean *******?"
  22. A purchase of iStick can't go wrong. Though the cost of it's one million dong. Purchased in Saigon I think it's a come on With a plug designed by Viet Cong. Now one million dong's fifty dollars. Making the shop owners robbers. Should cost less than forty Back home I screamed "Lordy" They cheated me out or ten dollars.
