So I am currently stalking the mail carrier for several purchases. I have ordered a Reo Grand, some Cartos, some HH357's , a leather holster for each of my new Reos, and some eliquid. I started vaping about a year ago and did quite well, but stress and RW stuff took its toll and I returned to analogs. I will start vaping again within the next two weeks and it is great to be back on the best site out there.

SmokelessImage (where you probably got your Volt) has some new, larger batteries. I am using one of their 1300mAh ones now. They also have some new clearomizers that work well. They produce a lot more vapor than their smaller batteries. Welcome to the forum.

Has anyone been to a radio shack lately? The 17 year old kid at the counter just says, "This should work," and sends you out the door.

    Wow.

I feel bad for this guy, but knowledge is power and you should be using the batteries recommended for your unit. Period.

I doubt we are going to see this incident compared to a cell phone or other hand held device. I'd hate to see what would happen should you shove the wrong size battery in your iPhone. iExplode?

As a mod owner several times over, I'm no expert in electrical engineering, but I do my utmost to keep informed. Stories like this just piss me off. I'd rather have my face intact to vape another day than save a few bux on batteries.

If you aren't going to pay attention to the safety recommendations, just f*ing smoke.

Juices make a big difference also, to me at least.
And how you vape, I like manual switches so I can hit the button for 10 seconds or so.

Provari is always an option, that does not have a proprietary battery (different options actually). It does just about everything the Darwin does but works on voltage readings rather than watts. I was partial to the Darwins until I had a discussion with someone the other night and got swayed towards the Provari. You can get a Provari kit with 2 batteries and a charger for less than a Darwin and then you can always have an extra batt ready, rather than having to buy 2 Darwins to always have a charge. Just a few things to think about, but like Bob said there are plenty of mid ranged items that are vv like the lavatube. I as well started with an 808 kit, quickly stepped up to an eGo, then I won a Lavatube as well as another VV device and just like with all hobbies you will eventually want the top of the line and I believe if its in your budget to do so you're better off getting what you will eventually want as soon as possible. I already want to get a Provari after 2 months of vaping and a few devices already. Stepping up to a Darwin or Provari sooner than later will save you money in the long run if you intend to stick with vaping rather than buying 500 dollars worth of mods that will sit around once you quickly decide you want the Provari. Just my two cents.

I have heard this is a really well built and highly technical mod if you can get used to the atty's being attached to the side. I have heard good things about it but have no experance with one. I am thinking about the Diamanté but have not yet decided.

Hey Retriever.. welcome aboard!! I started out with 808's too.. my first kit was the V2 and it amazed me enough to get off the analogs. But I always felt like I was missing something.. so I moved on to an Elite 808. Little bigger battery, certainly better life on it and those got me through my first three months analog free. About a week ago I got myself a kgo.. and I seriously love this thing! The batteries last more than a day before it needs a recharge and with the right carto... it's fabulous! I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything with this set up! My kgo is 510 threaded,, so I had to get an adapter to be able to use all those 808 cartos with it,, but the adapter works just fine. I still keep all my 808s around for back-up,, but if you're looking for something with a little more ooomph and don't want to go the mod route.. take a look at the kgo.. you won't be disappointed!

don't know if you saw those yet but if you're on their newsletter they have a coupon code goin for st pattys day. Brings those batts down to a reasonable price, and they're 808 threaded of course so you can continue to use those horizontal coil cartos
